  • Strollers 100% do not matter. Get one that's not falling apart and folds up easily. Bonus points if the handle is at a comfortable height for both you and your partner. Done. Cup holders and clips and whatnot can be done without or bought separately.

It's not the stroller in particular that's stressing me out just that the thread made me realize that I have no idea bout anything. Strollers, car seats, cribs, pack and play vs. bassinet, cloth diapering, etc. etc. I've been avoiding any research since my BFP for fear of "jinxing" it (ridiculous, I know) and now that 2nd tri is nearing the end, I'm realizing I have a lot of reading/research to do. Good thing I have 6ish months!

The stroller thread is stressing me the eff out. I KNOW NOTHING JON SNOW. Seriously, I don't even know where to start.
Yep, lost as a goose with all this baby gear crap! I tried to start a secret baby registry last night and I didn't even know where to begin. Too much stuff!

  • Just read this great article - I'm definitely guilty of complaining about the day-to-day symptoms.  But such a great reminder that pregnancy is truly a gift!  **TW - Loss Mentioned**

I plan on getting a friend who already has kids to go with me to register for things. She can tell me what I need, what I don't need, what she wished she had, etc.

  • I'm itchy all over and it's maddening. It also scares the crap out of me because it is potentially another symptom of cholestasis (in addition to a few other things I've got going on), which is pretty serious. My MW is referring me out to MFM and I'm just waiting for them to call to set up the appointment. Kiiiiiiinda freaking out.

  • The first step is to ignore all the lists they give you and go find a few people who have been there before to ask. You don't need a PNP, rnp, swing AND bassinet. You don't need a $300 stoller, 20 bottles, and crib shoes.

Eek! Hopefully it is just dry skin or a histamine response to being pregnant.

I went for my first run in about a month and by mile 2 my nips hurt too bad and I had to stop.

  • I teach middle school, and one of my kids told me I was having a girl. Her reason? "Your face is breaking out like crazy, and my mom says that means it's a girl." She didn't understand why I wouldn't want her to comment on my crazy breakouts (which really is not even that bad- I think I have a total of three on my face…). She's also the same one that asked me if I was sure it was my husband's...
  • @mrscorker, also with you on the "whoa all this baby gear is overwhelming" front, and I just try to remind myself that people do this all over the world including right here at home without the resources to get a million things or best of everything, and if kids are safe and loved and played with they'll be fine.

@turtlemomma I've had crazy dry skin itchiness, and using either Body Shop body butter (Shea or cocoa butter scents, nothing too artificial that makes me queasy) or this amazing "belly butter" that I use all over my friend sent me from an Etsy shop, NatureEscapes, both really go a loooooooong way. Moisturizing morning and night with those instead of regular lotion solved 90% of my itchiness issue. Maybe worth a shot for a day or two before worrying too much about what else it might represent?
  • @ashleyp625 OMG.  how did you not punch her?

@BrynB2 I've yet to find a sports bra adequate enough to allow me to run more than a mile or so. The boobies hurt oh so bad!!
  • @mizzkbrat congrats! That's a lot of excitement for one day!

I feel like there's a need for a me too button in addition to love it. I feel like I love it a lot because I feel like it's a new too! Like I'm also overwhelmed with the baby stuff. I have no idea what to look for and if it's worth the e yea money for some stuff. I guess I need to get out there and start shopping.

I just saw a college savings plan commercial where a pregnant woman was on her computer happily contributing to her unborn child's college education. I officially cannot adult any more today.
My husband and I agreed to start saving when their born... Before that is just too overwhelming.
  • @kmalls I loooove that shirt! Oh, cute kid, too  ;)

  • SOOOO we just told my husband's brother that we're expecting 10/13. Apparently my sister-in-law's brother and his wife are expecting 10/12.

    THUNDER STOLEN.

  • @rainmira9e my best friend is due the same week as me. it's her second. my first. let me have my moment, jeez.
  • I have a friend who is due 6 days before me and my bff is due a month before me. Maybe it's just me, but I'm excited that I have friends due around me!
  • @RainMira9e My SIL is due the 29th and we're due the 28th.  :# BUT we did wait till they made their announcement first and we're not doing a sprinkle or anything (their first, our second) so I'm hoping everyone focuses on her.

  • @bnsmith85 I'm happy our kids will grow up together but aggravated because she knows we are announcing tuesday and was like Oh I'm gonna post it online Friday as soon as I get out of my appointment
  • @kmalls Sooo adorable!

I am confessing that it is 5am and I'm at work sitting in the bathroom because I just don't want to wear pants anymore. Sigh. Two more hours..

    WTF??
  • Well, as my mom said, we're not sharing the same grandparents (and my husband's mother is super excited even though it's her fifth grandchild, my mom obviously excited for her first). Then that made me remember that my sis-in-law and her brother's mom is dead, so now I just feel sorry for them. It was a little disappointing not to give those kids their first cousin, or their favorite (they will see the other more frequently). I'll just have to set my brother up and hope he can start a family soon...

My first reaction to the stroller thing is: Why do I even need one? I never leave the house. My second reaction: Oh crap, does having a baby mean I'll have to leave my house?
Trust me, target, Walmart, the grocery store will all be your hang out. Anywhere that has other adults and your baby is entertained by. The number of times I went to the store to buy one item because it got us in a new environment and changed his mood was crazy.
    Yup!

  • I remember feeling the same way many of you did about the baby gear.  Do not stress about it.  Here is something else to consider:  car seats have to meet safety standards to be allowed on the market.  Technically speaking all are safe for your baby or they wouldn't be available to you. I trusted my seasoned cousin to guide me through the baby shopping experience and at least half of them items I didn't use. If you don't like the baby stuff you bought sell it on Craigslist, fb garage sale, or local consignment shop. If you get to that point you will know what you like/dislike and can get something you like better.
