I live in Alabama, so our Spring and Fall times are the worst. 45 degrees when I leave for work, 77 degrees when I come home. Hard to dress for that!
And of course it's tornado season (like half of the year is here) so not only do we have large variants of weather within a day, but also from day to day. Could be 77 and sunny today, and 50 with a tornado tomorrow, back to sunny and 70 the day after. All I want to do is put my winter clothes away and get ready for summer!
I don't see how y'all handle all the cold and snow in the Spring months! It's April! Nobody got time for snow!
@bamacoop - I'm in East Texas and it's exactly the same here. Was 42 this morning & is supposed to get up to 84 later. Makes it quite difficult to dress! I either freeze in the morning, or burn up in the afternoon. But I will take this over winter/snow any day!!
I just posted this on the Sunday Ticker change, but I know not everyone reads those, and I'm looking for input. We had MaterniT21 testing done last Wednesday, and I am so, so nervous!
Was told we should get results within 7-10 days and I truly can't wait - my anxiety is in overdrive. We
will find out the gender as well & I can't contain my excitement for
that part, so trying to concentrate on that aspect of it. We aren't doing any type of formal gender reveal, but
everyone at my work is SO excited (I work with a mostly older crowd and
the youngest one's "baby" in now 14, so they have baby fever as much as I
do)! I'm thinking about doing some kind of cheesy guessing game for
work the day after we find out & giving a prize of some sort to the
ones that guess right. Any ideas on how to do this? I was thinking
maybe the prizes could be $1 scratch-offs, with something like, "Luck is
with you today!" or something equally as cheesy, I think they would enjoy that. Not sure how to do the
actual game/reveal though. There are 15 of us in my direct office, so not too big of a crowd. Any ideas are welcome!
We had our gender reveal party this weekend...and after our balloon pop and finding out we are having a little girl, my boyfriend dropped to one knee and proposed!!!!! Ack!
I'm still wearing my pre-pregnancy work pants. They don't fit. I'm so uncomfortable. But, I can't find my maternity clothes - I packed them away, then we moved and I don't know where they ended up. And, really, I'm not big enough to justify maternity. I just need some fat pants for a few weeks.
I just went over the March and April BMBs and read their birth stories and now I am trying not to be a sobbing mess at my desk...I can't wait to meet this little one. It seems so far away right now.

My random today is shopping related. I need a good all-around jacket for traveling. Like not too formal and not too casual. Something I can wear during the day, and at night... comfy on plane rides, etc. I haven't found "THE ONE" yet.
I'm thinking about it. I'm going to talk to my OB and hear her thoughts and recommendations. I'm sure she knows some in the area that she's worked with. I feel like it all depends on how I decide I'd like to give birth. If I decide I want to try for med-free, I'll definitely hire one. I'm not sure... It would be nice to have someone there to sort of guide MH and help him be supportive of me because he's never done this before. Any BTDT moms out there with thoughts?

@turtlemomma I'm in a similar boat to @mrscorker, I'm going to talk more with my midwife about it. I am definitely going to plan for a med-free/low-intervention delivery (in a fantastic hospital, so if I want/need to change the plan day of, I can!) so I feel like a doula might be really helpful. We're also planning on taking Bradley method classes, though, which are really focused on husband-as-coach, so I'm not sure if it will feel as necessary.
My weekly random could also go in the symptoms thread, but WTF PREGNANCY DRY SCALP, why did I never know this was a thing and why couldn't I have prepared? I have never had an issue before and now I feel like a dandruff monster, even after switching to Head & Shoulders, which is NOT subtle with my dark hair. Literally ended up slathering my scalp with coconut oil after washing my hair last night, and rewashed it in the morning--though at least (FX!!!) it seems to have alleviated the issue, at least for the day. I love you more than anything, little merman swimming around in my belly, and I wouldn't trade you for the world--even if that meant a million dandruff-ridden days--but if you can pull any strings in there and ease up on the ugly symptoms, that would be great!
Same here! I have a friend who is a doula and I'm going to ask her to recommend someone b/c I'm not sure she'd feel comfortable doing it herself. I just have no idea what I'm doing and would like to have all the help I can get.
110% YES! If you can, then do it. I couldn't advocate for myself after 20 hours of labor and I was stuck laying on my back for most of it, if I had someone on my side (aside from DH who I can't take direction from) I think it would have went much better. Even if you don't intend on hiring one, interview one and speak to them about what they do. I'm trying to swing the money this time and will be asking the midwifes for recommendations.

You know one of the hospitals we are considering (UCSD) advertises a "free doula" if you deliver there. Not sure what that all means, but we are touring on Thursday, and am very interested in this service!
@ejmo68 I did the same thing the other day! So many happy tears lol, I can't wait to hold my own! Well, I can wait until october! Lol
I'm getting the 3 hour blood glucose test right now and I'm bored out of my mind and can hardly keep my eyes open! I can't wait to get out of here and get to California Pizza Kitchen lol 1 more hour!
Not sure if this is the right place to post but........
had anyone's bloating went away? I know longer feel bloated but my belly looks a bit smaller and I'm kinda sad. Kinda got used to the Blump. Is this normal?? Maybe I'm freaking out cuz my symptoms are starting to subside and I'm not feeling as "pregnant" as I did a few days ago.
Sometimes Baby A moves and I can't feel him/her (sitting right above my belly button), @zuzu87. I feel A the most in the AM so when I rub my belly before I get ready for work, I get irrationally upset if he/she isn't floating around there for me to jostle. I have another scan tomorrow and I might cry if the tech cannot discern the sex of the babies. My mom is here and I really want here to know before she leaves on Saturday.
I had a phone interview for a receptionist position at a dentist office. I'm going in tomorrow to meet the staff and dentist. I really hope I get it! Fx!
@zuzu87 , my bloating has definitely gone away. Now it feels like it just depends on what I eat. Some days I still bloat, but for the most part, I feel like it's gone.
@mrszoess , speaking of peeing.... yesterday I peed in a cup in the car. SO could not believe it. We were parked in this plaza where the nearest bathroom was 4 blocks away. And I had to go soooo bad. I couldn't walk 4 blocks. So I crouched down in the car and peed in my panera iced tea cup. Relief.
@zuzu87 Mine has also largely disappeared, but like @annabenanna it really depends on what I eat. Which means my pants fit differently pretty much every hour of every day!
@mizzkbrat Congratulations, two happy moments in one day!!
@zuzu87 I just noticed today that my bloat seems to be gone and it kind of freaked me out, I was so used to it!
As for the peeing, I sneezed pretty hard the other day while sitting with my 16 yo DD and said oh no that was bad I just peed like a LOT! I stood up to run and get new pants and underwear on and she starts dying laughing, Mom there is a big pee spot on the desk chair now!! Ugh
Random thought: I'm watching The Walking Dead right now and this has always bugged me. If the zombies are old and decaying, how do they so easily overpower Rick and Co.? They're alive and strong(ish). Can't they just push a decroded bag of bones off of themselves?
@PeggyOlsonFTW This bothers me, too. Muscles don't work without blood and oxygen and whatnot. If zombie bodies don't reanimate to that degree (and it's clear that while some are intact enough to do so, many are not), then they just couldn't move.
Now vampires, those are magic. But zombies are supposed to be scientific, and it just doesn't make sense.

But, no, instead I'm just suffering.
