So weird. I've never had an attack like that and I get low blood sugar fairly regularly (and have since high school).
I actually had to look it up and make sure that's what was happening before popping a couple of glucose tablets.
Also, tonight is LO's first night not sleeping in his crib (or, at least, starting the night in his crib). The doctor scared the living crap out of me about what can happen if he tried to climb out of his crib and he's tall (36" plus), so he could definitely do it if he wanted to.
So, tonight he is sleeping on a mattress on the floor. I'm excited and a little sad all at once. We did a lot of rearranging tonight to make it work. I think/hope he might actually sleep better this way since he tended to squish himself into the corner of his crib. Fingers crossed!
@Sporty1216 I hope the switch goes well for you! Out of curiosity, how old is your DS? I'm not sure when we will make the switch to bed, but it's on my mind a lot since it has to happen before the new LO can have DD's crib. I'm figuring we won't really need the crib for the baby until she's nearly 2.5, but not sure when the right time to transition is.
@camichael84 -- he just turned 2 on Saturday. I was telling the doctor that we were planning to keep him in the crib for quite a while yet and he stopped me and said he should have been out of the crib a long time ago. The criteria he used was height. He said that as soon as they can rest their arms on the crib rail, it's pretty possible for them to climb out. Our guy is 36" tall, so he's been resting his arms on that rail for quite some time. Our LO has NEVER attempted to climb out, but my pediatrician said that if he happened to try it, and get his leg stuck, and fall, that particular break only happens as a result of that kind of fall or abuse. So he said it opens a huge line of inquiry if it happens and he said we definitely didn't want to risk that. That's where the fear of God struck me. Haha. I think we honestly would be just fine to have kept him in the crib, but I figured we're gonna make the change eventually and I'm really hoping he'll sleep better. He was constantly banging into the crib rails and I'm guessing that contributed to his middle of the night wake ups. So far, so good as he's sleeping on a mattress on the floor. I think even if he rolls off, chances are good he may stay asleep. Sorry for the novel! Good luck with your decision.
@Sporty1216 Thanks! DD won't be 2 until September, but she's also tall (33 inches at 18 months). I'm just not remotely comfortable with moving her from her crib until she's two. She's never tried to climb out either, and if she does try, I'm sure I'll change my tune. I think we will start trying to transition closer to the 2 mark than 2.5.
@MojieJo and @Ah825 I'm in my SIL's wedding in July as well and she insists that we all wear the same shoes. Granted they're only like 1 inch heels but still. I'm mad about it because a)they're $60 and I'm most likely never going to wear them again (I got married in converse shoes for goodness sake) and b) up to 3 of the 7 bridesmaids could be pregnant at the wedding. Why would she do this to not just me but possibly two more of her best friends? Ugh. At least we only need to keep them on for the ceremony, pictures and the grand entrance at the reception
Damn I think my kid rests his arms on the rail, but I also think when I moved his mattresses down that there was still quite more setting below. Going to see if it has another inch to move down and see if that helps. E is only 15 months and hopefully a year from the transition!
I know McKenna rests her arms on the crib, and has been able to for a while. This is on Christmas morning when she was 15 months. But, again, I'm not ready to try the bed until she's two. I'm going to have to check to see if we also possibly have a third setting.
Yeah. I don't think I would have tried to transition him sooner, but I do think now, at 2, it's going to be ok. On the other hand, I may transition baby 2 earlier since they will share a room and I may have motivation to get the crib out of there (I want to get a trundle bed) so we can open up space.
I certainly didnt mean mean to freak anyone out--but the doctor certainly did freak me out! I think there has to be some balance where you can reasonably trust that they won't be more dangerous to themselves out of the crib than in it!
@Sporty1216- Didn't freak me out, but it's a good reminder to move the crib down 1 more setting just to be safe (Emmett also uses a pillow in his crib, so he has even more lift to dive out if desired). How did the night go on the free mattress??
@Camichael84 - Emmett LOVES that little aquarium, I think we've mentioned before that we both have it. I really think it helps him fall asleep when he's restless as he'll go over and slap the button then lay back down.
I moved Reese out of the crib a little after two because she was climbing out. I really don't see any reason to move them out if they're not climbing. Do whatever you can to keep them contained as long as possible. Because then they get out of bed and refuse to sleep and when they learn how to open doors, your life is over.
My random - the sweater I'm wearing today smells like it's been in a tote for three years. Because it has been. Finally dug out my maternity clothes and haven't had a chance to wash them but 34 outfit changes this morning, with a three year old up my ass, weren't working for me. So my regular jeans with hair tie and a maternity sweater that smells like a tote it is.
A coworker posts pics of her daughter on FB every day, and shares her memories from this day for the past 5 years.. every day. It's overload. My real issue is that the current pics of her daughter she's always bare chested. I'm just too weirded out by lack of internet security/stolen pics/weirdos in the world to put nudie child pics online. The girl is 5.. I can see it as a newborn (though honestly still wouldn't do it just based on my principle), but this is getting really old to have her nipples online. Even if people say I'm overreacting and being paranoid, I'm comfortable being that person and will put my foil hat back on now
I have a friend who posts straight up nude pics of her kids on Facebook. I'm like dude. Stop. Even if your Facebook is locked down to friends and family, STOP. That crap isn't private, no matter what your privacy settings say. Agh!

On the subject of breast/formula feeding, I BFed my daughter for two weeks and then gave up. I was much happier and calmer with formula. I'm gonna try and make it longer this time, and I'm not going to lie - I am primarily doing it because it's cheaper, and because I hope it'll burn some baby weight off faster than last time.

@AnnaS930Yeah, we've mentioned it before. She loves it, too, and I'm really glad we got it. Usually, the first thing she does is turn on the music when she wakes up. I've caught her dancing to it. Recently, she been reaching over to the cube organizer and grabbing her books out of it and looking at them in her crib. Yesterday after her nap, she didn't want me to take her out because she was so busy looking at books.

Here to support you as much as possible with making BFing work. Have a lactation consultant on speed dial ready to go. Of course, if it doesn't work, no judgment. Just hoping the ladies in this group who didn't have success with it with prior babies are able to make it work.
(Also, I swear the BFing helps with weight loss is a lie. I know it helps many women. I just don't know any personally.)
@camichael84- Parenting WIN! We also have a fisher price plush giraffe that plays music, he rolls into it a lot during the night and it definitely helps him out. I can't wait to pick out little accessories for this one!
My coworker who is 12 weeks pregnant is still going to Mexico in a couple weeks to lay in the sun. I just can't. CDC still has the travel bans up and precautions on how to travel if you "have to go". I'm pretty sure getting her tan on doesn't constitute having to go. She's had a bumpy road so far to getting pregnant and so far with the pregnancy as well. I just can't fathom taking that risk, or enjoying myself while being paranoid that a mosquito might have bitten me. Ugh.
@PSUBecky23 I put on weight while I was breastfeeding because I was always so damn hungry. It was such a let down after always being told I'd lose if I BF.

Yesss. The endless hunger when you're BFing. Plus working out too much messed with my supply.

What?!?! @AnnaS930that's nuts! Does she not know the risks? It's sad as there was one just in the news about a woman who did the same thing. It noted she had a healthy pregnancy showing through her first-tri and went on vacation in one of the travel restricted areas. She came back, got sick, tested positive for Zika, and now her baby is at 30 wks, measuring small and showing signs of microcephely and other health issues too. Why risk it? Just why?!
@AnnaS930 Her pacifiers help with the restlessness at night. I swear she knows how to reach out, grab one, and then put it in her mouth while still sleeping. Haha.
I keep seeing things I want to buy the baby, but don't know where to start this time. I feel like until I know if it's a boy or girl, I'm in limbo. This time, a lot of our needs for the baby are different based on the sex.
@AnnaS930 -- it went great! I think he really did sleep better. He woke up once and walked to the door crying, but I was able to settle him quickly. Then he woke again at 3am (normal for him) and I just laid down beside him for about 2 minutes and he was out until 7. That is actually really super awesome for us (though I know for some that may sound like a terrible night. All in the eye of the beholder, right?). I'm hoping that as he gets used to it, and starts to find the scout dog that plays music, the turtle that projects stars, and his water, he'll get better at settling back down by himself.
My husband doesn't want to take our daughter to gymnastics class (it's parent participation) because that's "for moms to do". I can't take her today because I have to work late...I'm really disappointed in him for this

Nope! I would not risk it. At all.

Doctor appointment today. Currently playing the, "make sure bladder is full for a urine sample, but not so full I pee my pants while waiting" game in the office.

@runningisrad Yah I think I'm going to send him an email today. I express myself better through email sometimes because I get angry and emotional about stuff like this and then he tunes me out...maybe he'll listen to an email...
@noelani42I'd be upset if I were you, too. Can you explain to him that other dads take their daughters to the class? I don't know if it would help, but maybe he's worried/embarrassed he'd be the only man there.
@runningisrad Would your dr/the receptionist let you back to pee early? Mine told me that I can always give the sample before I'm called so I don't have to suffer in the waiting room. I just go, give the sample, and come back out to continue to hang out until they're ready for me.
About the coworker.. she says she's "done her research" and her provider is ok with her going (WHAT?!) Mine would absolutely not be wanting me to go. Also, she says her resort sprays for mosquitos - because ya know, bugs are really good at staying away from an area... NOT! I didn't hear about that case in the news.. I'll have to look into it.
@Sporty1216 - hey, if it's not a huge setback for him, then I'd say it's a successful transition. I recently had a friend move his twins to their cribs form their bed and he said "Well.. it wasn't worse than usual?" I think for big changes, the baby staying the same is huge. Changes are confusing when you're not the one in control.
@camichael84When Emmett reaches around for his blankie at night at chew on (I leave 3 in his crib because he kicks them into the corners then has a hard time finding them) his eyes are definitely still closed and he's mostly asleep. It's so adorable. When he used a pacifier for the first few months of his life I loved his Wubbanub so much!

Sometimes. Last time they didn't because I had to have an ultrasound. I wasn't sure if I was having one today or not. They did call me back to give the sample early, so I'm going to say probably no ultrasound this time.

@MojieJo - I hope you were able to get your blood sugar back up quickly. That stinks. I'm diabetic and with my first pregnancy, I regularly woke up in the middle of the night due to low blood sugars (50's and 60's) throughout my first trimester and into my second. If I get a drastic low now, the symptoms that you described are exactly what I get. You just feel out of control and it's definitely scary, especially when it comes out of nowhere. Good luck!
Whenever I have an ultrasound I get the comment, WOW Look how full your bladder is! I look at them every time and say you told me to have a full bladder, so I haven't peed in an hour! Do other women not keep a full bladder like they are asked. Maybe I'll cut it back to not pee for a 1/2 hour before the appointment for my own comfort.
When we switched out our older son to his bed he would run into the nursery crying because he wanted to sleep in his crib. I finally took the mattress out and said no more mattress, you can't sleep here. Then he was OK with it. We moved him when he was 2 1/2 to give him time to adjust before his brother arrived 6 months later. His brother is still in the crib at 19 months. We'll probably move him this summer right before he turns 2 so he can adjust before baby comes. Baby will probably be sleeping in the pnp next to our bed for the first 6 months like the boys did.
My sister is a teacher and on Spring break the week of my anatomy scan! She's going to come with my husband and me!! I'm so excited to share this with her - she had twins 4 years ago and I got to go to one of her (many) ultrasounds, and it was very cool. Now I'm even more hopeful about finding out the sex as it would be an awesome moment with her there too. Yippie! (I fully realize the true importance and significance of the anatomy scan, but if I focus on that too much I will start to be consumed by worry, so focusing on the hopeful sex reveal and keeping my fingers, toes, and everything else crossed that all looks well).
@AnnaS930 I love McKenna's wubbanubs, too! They changed the paci on them to the thinner one, though, and she can now chew holes into them! We'd still have told old ones if it wasn't for the dog. Anyway, we've got her just one wubbanub now, but otherwise have switch to regular pacifiers. She "needs" two pacis. One for her mouth and one for her finger.

On a totally unrelated note, I just had a nasty hypoglycemia attack. Normally, I just get nauseous (with dry heaving), pale and shaky/sweaty. This time, I suddenly had a pounding headache, hot flashes (DH could feel that I was suddenly burning up touching my back through a t-shirt and thick thermal shirt), sweating, nausea, hunger and uncontrollable crying.
