Text from my husband "I would like to spend some of my bonus on daily fantasy. Is that alright? I'd like $50 if possible."
Guys.. didn't I just complain about this last month? And why is he making it a point that it's from his bonus? All money goes into one account, if you're spending $50 there's no need to specify "This is my bonus!" it's not like it's birthday money, it's income! I get a yearly raise, so I just see like $20 extra per paycheck.. I don't think of it as money that needs to be burned. Ugh. I multiplied it out, trying to simplify for him that he does not make money doing this and is trending to spend $600 per year if he spends $50 per month like he has been and I'm just so irritated. I told him to spend the money (I'm sick of feeling like I'm in charge of finances.. but I'm a control freak and he spends willy-nilly without any insight to future expenses.. so I feel like I have to!)
I asked my lawyer friend if I could strangle him, she said to go for a self-defense angle and well, he'd never lay a finger on me so I guess I better take some deep breaths.
@LakeR2014 hope the biopsy reveals good news. I hate it when they're so vague and not compassionate. I get that they go through this everyday, telling patients their prognosis, but sheesh have some sympathy! @Sporty1216 I'm glad the transition is going well! you have my gears turning as DS will be 2 soon.
@annas930 ughhhhh that's soooooo frustrating!!!! I would tell him to start collecting cans and bottles to support his habit. That bonus is part of your combined salaries!
I ate two lunches today, an hour apart. One of them was a fast food hot dog. I feel simultaneously dirty and oh-so satisfied.

On the subject of toddlers transitioning from a crib to bed... Do any of you use the sleep sacks? We bought the GIANT ones for DS as he never keeps blankets on. The good thing about these is they make it harder for him to navigate his crib and hopefully less likely for him to escape. I'm worried about the bed transition as he will be destroying his room at night and in the morning when he wakes up.

I'm sorry. I know that place though. When you want to say "No, don't be a dingbat. That's a stupid way to spend money." But you can't really, because you aren't his mom. I've been there. I hate it. I also hate it when he spends money without consulting me though. Because spending $60 on a "free" video game in one weekend is not okay.

I don't use sleep sacks, but I haven't ever had a issue with my kids destroying their bedroom. I keep a pretty close eye on them while they're falling asleep and they always come and wake me right away when they wake up.
My daughter destroys her room. Generally not at bedtime but almost always on the weekends when she's refusing to nap. It's her personality. I wouldn't expect anything else from my crazypants.
Full disclosure about my kids bedroom is that it's usually a mess. I try to get them to clean it up before bed, but it doesn't always seem worth it. All the toys are kept in their bedroom, which makes it hard to keep it cleaned up.
I am making myself crazy by trying to find matching jackets for my girls. I love to have my kids match, but it's very hard to find matching clothes. Bella is into girls sizes, Katy is in toddler sizes, and Lizzie is in baby sizes. Usually I can find matching for Bella & Katy or for Katy & Lizzie, but usually not for all three.
@AnnaS930 ahhh my husband is the same way!! I'm sorry you're dealing with it! Any "extra" money he gets, he wants to immediately blow. And you're the bad guy if you suggest otherwise.
I was a bia though this weekend, I don't care. He wanted a new 4K tv for his birthday for $700... When we already have two big nice TVs. He was going to use $300 cash his mom was giving him, $100 "from me", and then eventually sell his other tv to pay back the rest. Um no, sorry you're not a bachelor anymore and we don't need this ridiculous purchase. He was even going to make a deal with me that I get to name the baby, so I would agree.
Looking for some website/app help: Anyone know if the photos you post on the app in the My Photos section are on the full website version, too? I've looked everywhere I can think! I like that I can quickly upload from my phone camera, but it's not actually that useful if the pictures are still stuck on just my phone...
So a little disappointment today went for our a/s and now I have to go back in a week. I should be 18.4 but I was measure 17.4 so she said that she doesn't like to take measurements that early so I am rescheduled for next thursday. Since it's only a week off they are not concerned. The worst is that she was not 100% on the sex. She said it's "probably" a girl (yay!) but she was moving around to much and she wants to confirm next week. It's kind of a bummer because its not for sure yet and we get to sit in limbo for a week.
Me: 32 DH: 31
TTC #2 since January 2018
Baby #1 DD Born 8/25/2016 BFP: 8/11/18 Due: 4/26/18
To the moms with LOs that use soothers, my DD just turned two on Monday and she faithfully uses her "doodoo". We had a period of time that we transitioned to just for nap and bed, but she's been sick so we gave it back.
on the subject of talking, I encourage her to take it out when she's speaking to me... It seems to work and now when she has it in and wants to talk, she'll take it out without me asking. She talks fine, just mumbles a lot when it's in.
I'm also surprised how many of you guys had crib escapees! None of my three kids have ever tried to climb out.
Wife to A; Mama to C (2009), N (2011), H (2014) & baby F due 09/16/16

We keep almost no toys in the bedroom because we have an old two-story house and so he never plays up there because I would rather be on the main level where I can get stuff done while he plays. I think that will help with him not getting into mischief, but it may also make it harder to reach that glorious stage I've heard about where kiddos wake up and entertain themselves for a while in the morning. Tradeoffs, I guess?
Our next house, I want all of the bedrooms on the main level so we can keep all of the toys in bedrooms and play can happen in there relatively unsupervised!
Moms that BFed and used soothies: any interference with the two? I want to BF if possible and will be buying pacifiers but worry about nipple confusion. If I'm successful at BFing, we won't introduce bottles for the first month or two and that will be exclusively so DH can feed her. Nobody in my family used pacis so I have no one to ask!
Yup- a day away and 97 posts to go through. Yikes!
My randoms... today my 16 week checkup was rescheduled for the second time in two days. So now I'm supposedly going tomorrow. Color me not impressed. My doc got called away, so it's not her fault. I'll be 17 weeks by the time I get in there though! I'm really more just DYING to make my 20 week appointment!!! I am half tempted to call and try to schedule it before going there, but I feel like that may be bad luck for some silly reason. On the upside, it just means once I have the date it will be that much closer And I gotta love my DH. Here I am bumping away, winding down to go to bed, and he's just woken up and getting ready to go back to work after working all day today, to pull a double tonight into tomorrow. He has been such a champion, taking on any OT they will give him to help save up for the baby.
@MojieJo I had a similar thing this morning! I was prepping stuff for the slow cooker to make chicken chili and I got super nauseous and dizzy, almost blacked out, then had a nasty headache all day! It happens to me once in a while My mom and I are both hypoglycemic, and it gets worse with pregnancy, so we always have to watch out for that feeling. Now it's even worse! I always pack waaaay too many snacks, so I have something to much on. I didn't do that a couple of times and I almost passed out. It's no fun at all! Hope you feel better!
@runningisrad my doc laughs because when I go there, I legit have to pee at least three times. I still tell the receptionist when I walk in "Gimme the cup and the wipe, I gotta go NOW!" just in case lol. It takes a little more than half an hour to get to the doctor's office.
@AnnaS930 your coworker sounds insane to me- I would never risk going to Mexico while pregnant with the CDC warning!!! UGH people! And the bonus thing would make me nuts too. When we get extra $$ it all goes into our joint account and we try to save. We are bad at that though. *sigh*
@UnwrittenN12 man you are good! I wouldn't last a minute with those envelopes!!!
@ErinMarie86 I feel you on the stinky co-worker. My boss wear A LOT of perfume. My sense of smell is insane right now, and her perfume was so overpowering I had to keep the office door open to let in the fresher air from the rest of the building. I don't know how to kindly tell her "your perfume is choking me, can you dial it down for a bit??" lol!
@erinmarie86 not alone at all! I want to rock this little bump!!! I wish it were a little more solid and less squishy, but it's (slowly) getting there. I love anything that accentuates it!
@kosmo86 that stinks! You'll have to keep us posted!!

I hate having the toys in the bedroom. We live in a very small two bedroom house, so there isn't room for them anywhere else. My kids never wake up and entertain themselves. They aways wake up hungry and want breakfast asap. Now that my oldest is bigger, I'd love to have an upstairs or downstairs play room. No toys on main floor! It sounds wonderful.
@alwaysauntnevermom you're going to get a ton of opinions regarding nipple confusion. Personally, I don't believe in it. We BF'd and supplemented early and never had any problems going back and forth. The key, at least with bottle feeding, is not to wait to long to introduce one. It's good to EBF initially until your supply is established but nothing wrong with introducing a pacifier at least early on and then pumping and giving a bottle here or there.
@SarahMConnors Thank you! I definitely need to start making sure that I'm snacking more often to keep my blood sugar stable or at least eating several smaller meals a day instead of three bigger ones. I'm really bad about not eating for several hours and then suddenly feeling sick and half starved. I've always done that, so it's not a new pregnancy thing, but I know it's a worse thing to do these days.
I have such a hard time figuring out what to nibble on since I'm not a snacker. Maybe I'll pick up some fruit snacks or something. Going to have to start carrying a bag or something, too, since I never carry a purse and none of my clothes seem to have pockets these days.
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom -- I was really concerned about nipple confusion too. And then it took forever for my milk to come in, my lo was an obsessive sucker, and he had jaundice. We ended up introducing a pacifier on day 1 or 2 at a nurse's recommendation and I had to supplement (always after he had nursed) for almost a week to help get rid of the jaundice and until my milk really came in. All of that and we ended up having a great nursing relationship. I nursed him until he was 19 months.
I say follow your gut once baby arrives and also ask the nurses and lactation consultants for their take. They can be great resources!
@lovelylauren86--they're like gummy bears I can justify! Organic (sometimes)! Made with real fruit juice (sometimes)! Haha.
@PSUBecky23@Sporty1216 thanks so much for the advice! I get it, I'm hoping to breastfeed but I'm prepared to supplement of we need to. It sounds like a paci or two a day would be fine. I appreciate the responses. I'd just never heard of nipple confusion with a paci, just with bottles.
On the subject of pacifiers, I do not give to them to my babies until my milk comes in. All the comfort sucking they do helps establish the milk supply. After that, I definitely push it on them. I didn't with my second and it wasn't horrible, but she could have used the extra comfort. She was very attached to me, to an uncomfortable degree.
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom My DD never had nipple confusion either. Due to jaundice, she had her first bottle when she was 2 days old, and started taking a paci in the hospital. Neither effected her latch or desire to nurse.
My random! Had to go in to the OB today and saw the NP after some random pain. It was a great appointment and got a bonus peek at baby girl! My pain wasn't pregnancy-related so I was very surprised when she said 'let's look at baby'. She was more active than ever and we loved seeing her for those few minutes extra ultrasound FTW
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom my advice with bottles/pacis and breastfeeding is that if you want that option make sure you don't go too long between offerings! My first two weeks with my daughter we were having latch issues so I was exclusively pumping and she would take the bottle and paci fine. Once we got the latch figured out at about 2-2.5 weeks I pushed the bottle and paci aside since I was really focused on BF. A couple weeks passed and she then refused bottles and never really enjoyed pacis again. As she got older I wish I would have been more consistent with the bottles (at least offer once a day or every other day) and let her keep having a paci early on. I will definitely have a different strategy this time around... Less worry about potential nipple confusion and more consistent to keep my options open down the road!
@alwaysauntnevermom take advantage of the lactation consultants in the hospital and see one when you get home, if necessary. One of the keys initially is just nurse, nurse, nurse as much as possible. Once your milk comes in and you and baby have a rhythym down, bottles and pacifiers should be fine.
Does anyone know if prenatal appointments are considered preventive care? I swear I had a bill for every appointment with my daughter, and with this pregnancy I've only gotten bills for the ultrasound.
@camichael84 -- I don't know if it is considered preventive care, but I do know my OB bills for the entire pregnancy as a lump sum after delivery. Along the way, I only get bills for ultrasounds and lab work. I'm pretty sure she told me it's basically a flat rate depending on vaginal or c-section delivery and that's why they just bill at the end. Maybe your office is doing that now too?

This is what my doctor did for my last pregnancy and is doing for this one. Got a bill after my daughter was born that was basically what was left of my deductible.
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom we didn't introduce a paci in the hospital (or probably within the first week) and neither of my kids would ever take one! They would like chew and spit out like they didn't know what to do with it. And the same with a bottle a while (probably introduced around 3m). I EBF both, and they finally took a bottle some, but never the paci. Moral- don't way TOO long if you want the paci. We are still deciding about what to do with #3, but I think I'd like to try it starting asap once the nursing has been established a day or two.
DH and I have a tour scheduled tonight at the Birthing Center within the hospital I plan to deliver at. Does anyone have any tips of things to look for or questions I should ask on the tour? I really have no idea what I'm doing! LOL
Married: 3/21/15 First time mom to a human but have been a puppy mamma for over 12 years
@Sporty1216@PSUBecky23 Actually, now that you mention it, I think my OB does the same. I think I forgot because when it came down to it, I only had three appointments where they didn't do an u/s or NST, so I was getting a bill for almost every appt. Thanks!
@camichael84 My doctor's fee for delivery includes all prenatal appointments and the anatomy scan. When I went in for my 8w appointment, they sent me a breakdown of the doctor's fees for the delivery and my responsibility after insurance divided by seven (they send it to insurance after the birth though). So every month I pay 1/7 of my responsibility, which isn't a lot. If I go in unexpectedly or they do an ultrasound, they don't charge me for it. So far I've only had to pay for one ultrasound of the two I had before the 8 week appointment. They have the ultrasound machines and they do it themselves so they do them very often and I was freaking out last month because I haven't gotten bills for them so I called billing and they said they just treat all of it as part of the prenatal care included in what I already pay monthly. So the only bill we get after delivery will be the hospital's.
DH and I have a tour scheduled tonight at the Birthing Center within the hospital I plan to deliver at. Does anyone have any tips of things to look for or questions I should ask on the tour? I really have no idea what I'm doing! LOL
I wouldn't worry about questions so much. They'll tell you where everything is. If you have questions later you can call them or you can ask your doctor. I do like to know where the baby goes. At my hospital they put baby up on your chest as soon as it's born. Unless there's something wrong, then the baby is brought over to one of the warming bed things.
One thing that I plan to do this time is ask the nurse if she can take a few pictures for me. DH is horrible at taking pictures and we won't be having anybody else at the birth.
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom That's nice that your OB includes the ultrasounds and unexpected appointments. I wish mine did. I've only had one unexpected appt per each pregnancy and they charged me both times. Same with all my ultrasounds and NSTs. My OB is located in a hospital and the hospital does all the tests, so maybe that's why it's different. I do assume I won't be getting a bill for when the OB uses the portable u/s machine on me, though, so there is my silver lining.
