Both my kids' names have 9 letters so DH claims this one needs to as well. And he wants their initials to spell something, lol. We'll see what we end up with. I do like longer fairly traditional names but at this point I don't have a ton of ideas. Maybe Sebastian? I was hoping to name a girl Margaret nn Maggie after my mom but that's 8 letters.

I do fun stuff with initials too. My son's are the same as mine. Our daughter's initials are (intentionally) the same as a relative's. The names we are most likely to go with this time would either result in the kid having either the same initials as my husband, or the initials M.E.D. (or short form, M.D.) which is actually accidental but I think is awesome because I'm going to be a doctor and this kid will be born at my med school. I'd picked Maisie Elizabeth before I'd realized that, hah.

I'm so excited to possibly pick a name! I didn't get to choose my daughter's name, her dad picked it all, Ashlyn LeAngela. But this time around I am hoping to win and get my choice. I want Gracelyn Marie but my little sister swooped up Grace as her girl name so now I have no girl name. Boy I want Elliot James but that's a hot debate at my house. Husband hates it. He wants Jack. I think I actually like that for a girl. Weird? Maybe it's the hormones!
@minipinky871 My coworker just named his baby girl Elliot (not sure if they spelled it differently to be more feminine looking), and I think it's actually a really cute girl's name! There was a female character on Scrubs named Elliot!
Elliot was named that because her rich parents wanted a son.
DH and I have been talking about names since DD was born. we always knew we wanted a sibling for her so it's kinda been a consistent conversation for the last 2 1/2 years. We have settled on Tamsyn Dorthy for a girl and are all but set on Osiris Michael if it's a boy

We want to name our girl Elliot! I just love it. If it's a boy, he will be Glenn (after my husband's dad who passed away).
Sofia Kathryn has been decided for like six years ago! I keep on waiting on a girl....(after two boys, so far) If I have a Three Musketeers set of boys, then Levi Alejandro, maybe?? Not sure on the middle name, but would like something Spanish as DH is from Nicaragua.
Me and DF have pretty much already confirmed Lucas if it's a boy and Abigail if it's a girl. Loved Abigail as soon as he suggested because my mother's name was Gail. Now we just have middle names, which is mehh. Lol
I like this pronunciation, but not sure how one would spell it so as not to be mispronounced all the time...anyone wanna weigh in?
El-uh-nuh
Elana
Ugh...this is the problem. I think we may have to scrap the name because I refuse to name our child anything that has the high potential for constant mispronunciation. Elana = Uh-lay-nuh to me...
We have had a boy name picked out for years. If it is a boy, Alexander James we will call him Xander. For a girl that's a little more tricky. We know Emma will be the first name and the ideas we have for the middle are Hensley, June, Hazel, or Jane. All of them are family names and we can't seem to decide. Good thing we have a few months if it's a girl lol

So it's not quite the same, but what about Alanna? It has a similar sound and it wouldn't be mispronounced.

I always felt bad for the kids who always had to correct the teacher on the first day of school because their name was mispronounced. That is one of my filters. It sounds kind of like Helena and there are a few variations of that without the H. Elina might be the closest to what you are going for?
@atcwag Like ilana? Or more like Ellana? I don't even know if that second one is proper spelling. I can't think of a spelling with the Eh and Uh sound you're going for. I know what you're trying to say, but I just can't spell it! Thats tricky!
Ellona & Evonna I think would be more appropriate spellings if you're worried about how others would pronounce them. If you're not, your spellings are much more appealing, if that makes sense. @atcwag either way, I love the uniqueness of both names, and they're both elegant as well.

We agree on absolutely zero names. ZERO NAMES. My husband has atrocious taste.
I'm feeling pretty hopeless. It will probably take us the entire 9mos to agree on something. It wasn't this hard the first time!
^^ This! We can't agree on names either. It's a fight to the bitter end each time. He hates my names and I hate his. I tell him every time that if we don't agree when the baby is born, he forfeits his right to naming the child.
Lol! Sounds like my house. With my 1st pregnancy my DH wanted Azalea ... I tried so hard to to burst out laughing with the thought of Iggy Azalea in my head. Good thing we ended up with a boy ! HAHA
Been throwing about Sadie Annelise and Jeremy Sherman. Middle names are both family names and Jeremy is the hubs middle name. We'll re-look at them once we find out the sex
I don't know how we will ever decide, especially if its a girl. Boy names are Joseph, Sullivan "Sully", Declan, or Knox. If its a girl her middle name will be Jane or Jo. First names we like are Delaney, Meredith, Margaret, Ruby, Nora, or Hattie. We also like Avery and Rowan which could go either way. I imagine we'll be those parents with an unnamed child for a day or two after he or she is born. HA!

We have had most of this figured out for a while. Boy will be Declan Barr, while I don't love the MN it's in honor of someone that was really close to DH. For a girl we are going with Amaryllis. Not 100% on middle name. We want it so start with a J so maybe Jade or Jaina.
@lilwonder Not a nn, just a regular first name. I was thinking of the middle name Neerie too, but afraid it might be too out there. I just really like the sound of it.

@atcwag - I'd go with Elena for that pronunciation I think. I adore Evanna (ee-VAH-nuh) but DH vetoed it
