Who has been talking names already?

Curious if anyone else is like me and decides names in the first trimester.

We have some leading contenders and I'm curious about what others have thought. Our most likely boy name is still quite variable, but William is probable. Kirk, Ewan, Rory, Iain, and Jack are still also on the possibilities list. Girl will likely be Maisie. Possibly Penelope, but I'm waffling on that one.

How about you?

  • Boy will be Charles Richard. Girls names we like so far are Eloise, Olivia, and Rita. MH likes Colleen but I'm meh about it.

  • I like Olivia but my daughter has two in her class and my son has one in his so I'm thinking its a bit too popular for my liking (says the person considering William, hah.)

  • We picked out both boy and girl names long before little one was even in there so we are set and it's one less thing to worry about now(:
  • I think we're settled on Julia and Alexander.

  • Holly Gail or Holden William. I just can't wait to find out which it will be! :)

  • Totally. Unfortunately even though we had 10000 names we loved pre-BFP now there are apparently none. We do know the middle names though. If it's a girl her middle name will be Thelma for my husband's grandmother and if it's a boy his middle name will be Thomas for my brother and my husband's grandfather.

The only girl name I love right now doesn't go with my daughters name, unfortunately. I love Aurora, buttttt my daughter is Elsa and the Disney princess theme seems a little much even for me (the world's biggest Disney nut).

The only boy names I love are no-go's for family reasons. I love Charlie, but I have 2 uncles and a cousin named Charles and that seems like a lot. I also love the name Tucker but my aunt lost a son in the third trimester named Tucker so obviously we can't choose that either.

  • Our middle names are settled, Ruth and Daniel...We have a list for each with a couple front runners for each but I'm so indecisive and particular there's a good chance any take home baby we get might remain nameless for the first day or so...naming a person is a big responsibility!

It is! I loathe my legal name and I don't use it at all so I try to avoid that for the kids.

Something I found funny: Rory and William are both on our boy list. Someone on the name board recommended Rory William and my husband and I both just burst out laughing. Huge fans as we are, we can't go so far as to name a (soon-to-be) doctor's kid Rory William...

  • Always.  The social security baby names website is my favorite.  For girls - Sarah, Jane, Meghan... Boys - Mark, Alex, Robert....
    Me: 1979 * Husband: 1976 * Little girl: 2010 * Little guy: 2013 * MMC: 2016 * Last baby: EDD 2/11/17!
  • We agree on absolutely zero names. ZERO NAMES. My husband has atrocious taste.

I'm feeling pretty hopeless. It will probably take us the entire 9mos to agree on something. It wasn't this hard the first time!

    ^^
This! We can't agree on names either. It's a fight to the bitter end each time. He hates my names and I  hate his. I tell him every time that if we don't agree when the baby is born, he forfeits his right to naming the child.
  • We have Nyla Marie after our grandmas for a girl and MJ for a boy to stand for my dad and his grandpas name Manley Jelmer! We also had picked before we found out! Could never agree on a name until we went with family names!
  • We're doing Z names lol.

    Boy- Zaith
    Girl- Zuri
  • Girl we are about 75% on Zoe Agatha

Boy is a toss-up between Russell David, William Robert, or William Russell. They are all family members (Russell his living grandfather, William his deceased grandfather, Robert my brother and grandfather, and David his brother and uncle). I think we are leaning towards Russell David, because it would mean the world to his Gramps.

  • Our first has a very unique name, not annoying uneeq but definitely rare. Hard act to follow. I love Gigi for a girl, Stellan for a boy. DH loves Jack but has threatened Ebenezer.
  • We like Italian names.  With our first pregnancy we had a boy name and a girl name already ready.  We used that girl name, and then came up with a second girl name.  We still have 2 boy names we like Guiseppe(Joe for short) and Carmine. I'm sure we'll start to talk about girl name options once we see a heartbeat.

No? I am going to google it now
  • I loved readying all your baby names.
I am either blessed or cursed as it is just me deciding..like if i f* up, and the child hates it, I'm the only one to blame :worried:
Trying to find names that are pronounceable in Norway and in The Netherlands, which is hard, because I really like traditional 'older' names and those are hard to pronounce for either country. And when I do find a name and tell my bestfriend, she's like..oh no..here that means...or we use it for ...
    It's exhausting.
I agree with @comealongponds: naming a person is a big responsibility. I already regret my cats name, and my bunny changed his name twice during his 9 years of living...

Or Game of Thrones. If you love the name I recommend NEVER watching the show or reading the book. Joffrey is the name of one of the worst characters in any thing I have ever read or seen in my life. It's to bad because it's not a bad name!

  • I am French so we are going to go with a French name. We don't have any names yet but we have started our discussion.

My 18 month old is Mathilde and goes by Mattie. When she was born, we were team green but we were convinced she was going to be a boy, so we didn't have a consensus for the girl name. In the end, after about 40 minutes of back and forth in the L&D room, DH let me win because I had gone through 16 hrs of labour. :)

  • We have a girl name but my husband recently decided he did not like our boy name, which was Leo. The only name he says he likes is Max, which I don't like :-)
  • We've been talking names since we were TTC.  We have decided that if its a boy his name will either be Jonah or Jonas depending on what middle name we go with.  We have struggled with girl names but right now our top contenders are Zara, Coralie, and Elise.

a Song of Ice and Fire is the name of the book series! Arya would still be cool, but I don't think I could do Joffrey!!!

FFTC H's name is Dan and we may have thought a little too seriously about naming* DD Daenerys.

  • We were set on Zachary Bryan for a boy but then I threw out Sawyer and DH likes it.  We are thinking Reese Vivian for a girl.  I'd like to incorporate Vivian somehow but not as a first name because I wouldn't want her initials to be VJ.

@kgrisham18 - DS's name is Sawyer and we get compliments on it all the time!

That's the hard part - we knew DS would be Sawyer (boy or girl, although I'm glad he was a boy because I do like it better for a boy) and we love it.  So this time around it's been hard to find a name we're as confident about.

Girl names I like: Ella (although I'm worried it's too popular), Vivienne, Eilliot, Marlowe, Hattie

Boys names I like: Hudson, Jude, Milo, Beckett, Finn

But my husband doesn't love any of them.  And I'm not sure I do either.  So I'm still searching.
  • I love your screenname, just saying

Oh my, Rory William might be a bit much! Although subtle enough (since middles are so rarely used in real life) that you might be able to get away with it! I was talking to the baby in my head the other day and said, "Okay River, let's go see the doctor" and burst out laughing in the car.

I'm also not crazy about my legal name, my parents chose the most popular name of my birth year (decade actually) and I've always found it so irritating to be one of two or three everywhere I go. DH has a normal but uncommon name, which is what we're aiming for...we'll see how that goes! Now that we might be naming two....ugh things just got more complicated! I don't want the names to be too "themey" or similar (I loathe people who dress twins the same, and give them names that are similar) but I don't want them to be too different either! A friend of mine just had twin girls, and she and her husband each named one! I don't think I could do that...

  • Mmkay I have a question. I love the name Rosalie, but I hate the twilight connection. What do you guys think? Is that something you'd even think of when you hear that name?
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @SRose109 I love Rosalie too, way before Twilight was ever a thing.  Sadly, H vetoed it :(  I wouldn't worry about it.  Twilight has died off so by the time the baby is older, more than likely no one her age will even know what Twilight is.
