How do you describe being pregnant?

I did a search and came up empty and created this post::::

a few men have come up to me asking how it felt to be pregnant now that I'm showing more...

my my answer is always that it feels like I ate a lot (because of the stretching) and can no longer suck in my stomach no matter how hard I try. And the baby moving around inside feels like constant gas and my tummy is always rumbling but I can't fart or burp to let it out.

how do you describe your pregnancy to people who ask you?

I'm with @kdm06c - I've definitely described DD and this LO as a parasite during pregnancy. I promise I love my babies.

I don't think anyone's ever asked me to describe how being pregnant feels, but I'd say bloated, swollen, tired, nauseated, hungry, and like my body isn't my own.

Except when I talk about baby moving and kicking - that's when I get all glowy about pregnancy, I love it. Even when it borderline hurts, I love how it feels.

I tried to explain the soreness to my husband the other day by saying it's like the day after you do a long day of leaf/ yard waste collection. The tightness and soreness in your back from raking all day and the pain in your lower back and hips from bending over and put leaves into bags. It was the closest comparison I could make that he would understand.

I've never been asked to describe how pregnancy feels. There's definitely nothing else like it though which I think most people would agree with. Feeling baby kick and roll is seriously the coolest feeling ever!

Haha I love this thread! I agree with everything PP have said but want to add that I constantly feel self conscious thinking I have something on my face or body because people stare everywhere I go. Have you never seen a pregnant lady before?? I always ask my husband if I look ok, or if you can see my underwater through my dress, or I have toilet paper stuck to my shoe because people just stare! It's super weird.

My friend asks me all the time. I tell her it is awful. Miserable. I tell her she will miss her form fitting, sexy clothes. She will miss having control over her body and sleeping at night. She will miss feeling sttractive in her own skin. That it feels like 9 months of pms with crazy hormones that make you want to cuddle or cut people. Horrible, horrible experience!

As someone who knows a woman who tried to get pregnant for 10 years, I would never tell another woman it's a horrible experience. I would never say such a negative thing with knowing or not knowing what her struggle is. Would I love my son to get off my pelvic floor, of course but I would never say growing and protecting him inside my body is horrible. Does morning sickness suck? Yeah. Does peeing when you sneeze annoying? Sure. I've made a point to say not one negative thing to anyone about my pregnancy because their pregnancy could be completely different than mine. I wouldn't trade getting kicked while I pee for anything.Your baby feeds on what energy you're putting out and you're already hinting that they're horrible? Come on now.

I agree with @oneliloaktree13 and PP- for many of us the road to get here was long and very difficult. I definitely think we all have the right to bitch, even if this was a desperately wanted pregnancy. But saying it's a horrible, horrible experience is taking it too far, in my opinion. Personally I find snissing to be fodder for a lot of hilarious jokes.

I don't like being pregnant, necessarily, but I've been through worse. I do feel like my body has been hijacked, I'm mad at my giant inconvenient boobs, I get stuck on my back trying to get out of bed, etc. But I also get an excited flutter with every kick, punch, and roll (even if it makes me run to the bathroom to pee). I get to be the only person who experiences the budding personality of this little person for a handful of months, and I'm sure I'll miss getting to keep her all to myself once she is born.

I tell my friends who are on the fence about having kids that I 'don't recommend' pregnancy and that I will never try to sell them on getting pregnant. It's not for everyone. My friends who want kids, I'm honest! You won't always like it, you will struggle to do things that were once easy and your body will change more than you can imagine. You will be tired. You will have moments of panic where you realize your life is about to change completely (esp. with a first baby). But it can be really fun when your baby starts 'interacting' in the womb. I'm in this pregnancy for the outcome, but there are still some really enjoyable moments.

Plus, she makes my skin look absolutely fantastic. I appreciate her for that as well!

I'm the total asshole that somehow escaped morning sickness and loves being pregnant. Pre-pregnancy, despite working out nearly everyday and eating healthy, genetics gave me a permanent pooch so the fact that there's a legit reason for this big belly makes me super happy and I'm constantly parading it around like "look at it! Look at this big bowling ball!!"
