Dd is currently at grandma's house just because and I'm laying in the couch watching property brothers and alternating between reading and bumping. Zero guilt. I love my me time and dread if ILs ever move away that I can't just go drop the kids off for a couple of hours to get a break.

Another confession... I hate the movie Bridesmaids. I didn't find any part of it even mildly funny.
I didn't really think it was funny either!!

Aaaaahhhh! I LOVE Bridesmaids! It's not even close to being a good movie but it's funny! I watch it any time I can  :#

  • Another confession: I removed the personal information from my siggy because the catfish/lurker talk made me nervous. I'm also slightly terrified of someone in real life finding me on here. Idk why. It's not like I'm a rude weirdo (right? right!?!) but it's still concerning.
  • @AlwaysAuntNeverMom - Agreed. Definitely not a "good movie" but certain parts give me a good laugh regardless of how many times I've seen it, and that's good enough for me!

  • @LizC216 We've decided to be Team Green too and I'm amazed at the lack of gender neutral clothes! Kohl's had a set of neutral onesies from Carter's but that's it! Makes me want to buy whatever I see that's cute, boy or girl!
  • We have tons of boy clothes from #1, and a lot of it I will still use with #2 regardless of baby's sex (excluding the ones that say "Handsome like Daddy", etc). I think a lot of the gray, navy blue, etc can be worn for a girl for sure. Could even girl it up with pink leggings or a headband if you're into that kinda thing?

This made me laugh out loud! I am amazed at how clueless some men are with basic tasks.

Hope you really enjoy the BIL free time! Your evening plans sound awesome! My fiancé's sister used to live with him and it was tough at times.

@AnnaS930 @camichael84 I labored in a backwards hospital gown with everything out in the front, not in the back. Even though all of my everything was exposed, I didn't want people to see my bare ass :s

I did it to have immediate skin-to-skin with the babe. Also, I couldn't imagine having clothing on bc I was such a sweaty hot mess!
  • @RedMar - Hilarious. I kept my underwear on until the last minute, basically. And wore a gown forward and a gown backwards on top of it, there was nothing show.. just my ankles. Also, I showered the morning before going in and put my hair into 2 french braids because from 20 years of playing sports I knew that's how I would handle being a hot sweaty mess best.. and oh man was I ever!

@AnnaS930 @RedMar FTM question. Is it too naive of me to buy a nursing gown to labor in? Did they make you wear their hospital gowns? I'm thinking of a nursing gown or a huge bathrobe...

ETA not a fluffy robe, a huge cotton one cuz, ya know, I'll be huge.

Any recommendations for an iPhone App that maintains a calendar? I want something that both DH and I can access from our phones.

ETA - Dammit - I thought I had the randoms thread open. How dare I try to work while Bumping!

I had my bra and their gown on during the whole thing. They made me take my panties off as soon as I got there. I would have taken the gown off if I'd gotten in the labor tub and likely stayed that way, but it didn't happen. They used a cold wash cloth to help me with being hot, but I don't remember that being a main concern for me. I didn't even pull my hair back, after I frantically searched for a headband and hair tie to put in the bag before we went in.

@AlwaysAuntNeverMom It may vary from hospital to hospital, but mine allowed you to wear what you wanted as long as they could access your vagina for checks. They also had nursing gowns that opened in the front for postpartum.

  • @AlwaysAuntNeverMom - My hospital also didn't care what you wore as long as it was easy access for checks. People kept telling me "you won't care what you're wearing in the moment" and they were wrong. I knew I'd care, and I did. My sports bra was a life saver. When I asked a nurse in my birthing class if I'd be able to wear a bra she giggled and said "oh yes! plenty of women want to wear something, that's completely up to you!" Whew.

I wouldn't spend too much on it - The good thing about hospital gowns is when they get all yucky you just ball them up and toss them in the linens bin to grab another. I can't imagine wearing something (during labor) that you'd then want to take home, wash and wear again! lol. A lot of women bring bathrobes to wear pre- and post-labor though, I could see that. I was pretty excited the following morning to take a shower (BEST SHOWER OF MY LIFE!) and put on yoga pants and a loose shirt.. I'm not a gown kinda girl

  • @AnnaS930 I'm the same way about gowns. I don't like wearing them but want skin to skin when baby's born and I would really be uncomfortable with my boobs flapping around, no matter how many people say I won't care in the moment. Whether I do or don't, I don't want to end up sitting there uncomfortable with the ladies in the air and end up pushing for two hours. You're probably right about buying a gown, it'll end up yucky with sweat and goop so probably not worth it. I think a sports bra is a good fit for me. We'll see when the moment comes!

  • I wore a nursing bra that kinda looks like a sport bra for labor. It kept me fairly well contained, but it wouldn't work for someone who is more well endowed than I am.  I wanted easy access for nursing soon after birth - something a real sports bra would make tricky.  At first the anesthesiologist only saw the top and thought it was a full tank and told me to take it off for the epidural. When she realized it was only a bra, she let me keep it on.

I had this: https://www.target.com/p/gilligan-o-malley-nursing-sleep-bra-2-pack/-/A-14524158#prodSlot=_1_7  and it is worthy of the 2-star rating it currently has.

  • I am hella jealous of all of you that have children that don't make it their mission in life to destroy everything within reach.

@marajay6 we use a google calendar that syncs to both of our iPhones. I don't know how it works. At all.  But it does.

  • @AlwaysAuntNeverMom I would say consider how comfortable you are in the hospital gowns as well when you decide whether to buy something or not. I didn't give it any thought at all and I wish I had. I'm considered plus size at a non-pregnant size 16, I was all belly & boobs so the rest of me was still pretty much that size. At my hospital though the "normal" gowns were way too small & tight on me and their "plus size" gowns were like wearing a circus tent over me. I had a c section & couldn't handle wearing any of the loose pants I had brought with me so I had to wear those uncomfortable gowns the entire 3 days I was there. It sucked! I'm thinking of searching around to find myself some cheapo gowns to wear this time just so I don't have to put up with that.
  • @AlwaysAuntNeverMom For my last two births (1 was vaginal and 1 was a planned c-section) I wore a sleep nursing bra. I got them in a two pack from target. For all 3 of my births I wore the hospital gowns. They weren't uncomfortable. They had different gowns to change into after showering and stuff, they had openings in the front for breastfeeding. I didn't like those ones, the openings weren't big enough for very much skin to skin. So I mainly wore another of the nursing bras and a lose tank top that I could pull up easily. I am planning to bring a big robe with me, so I can pull that on when I get visitors or I need to go out of the room. After my c-section the dr wanted me to walk around and I wasn't comfortable walking around outside the room without putting more clothes on.
  • @Thscary I had like ten little shrimps (cocktail) on Easter, a little catfish taco last night, and I'm having salmon tonight. :)

  • Last time, I brought my own clothes to wear during the postpartum hospital stay, but I'm considering using thier gowns this time. Less laundry for me to worry about when we get home.

  • @AlwaysAuntNeverMom I brought a nursing nightgown and 2 robes (one light and one heavy) both were dark colors bc you bleed a lot. I had DS in June and was actually FREEZING after he was born (thank you hormones). I was so glad I brought the heavier fleece robe bc that served as a blanket most of the time since the hospital ones are paper thin.

He should be ashamed enough not to ask that question out loud and just google it.
