If one more person says...

Re: If one more person says...

  • Similar to what others have said, my mom thinks I'm huge and other people say stuff like "that's gonna be a small baby"... it was the same last time!  My mom has a weird estimation of belly size, apparently, last time she kept saying that I was so big, she was sure I'd have the baby early (nope--- induced 2 weeks after due date) and she's back at it again!  Meanwhile, other people do a double take when I say I'm 6 months pregnant.  My obgyn says I'm measuring nicely and growth seems right on track so I'M FINE, everyone!!!  I carry straight out the front (and did last time too) so I look small head on and it takes looking at the side profile to really sense the size but I shouldn't have to justify it anyway!  Some people!

  • Basically, everyone in the world sucks at guesstimating size variables in pregnant bellies, and they all need to stop trying. Because it doesn't matter anyway, we live in the 21st century and have far more scientific technology available to provide that info when necessary.

Same thing goes for the people who are like 'you're carrying low, it's for sure going to be a boy.' Just stop.

Yes. I have NO torso, so I just explode outward. Yes, I know I'm all belly. No, don't comment on it. Just pretend I'm not pregnant.
  • I started this pregnancy overweight (generally about a size 16) and I'm noticeably larger in front.  When I tell people I'm 6 1/2 months pregnant they are shocked, like they just assumed that I'm not pregnant, I"m just getting fatter.  Only in the middle, Only in front.  I know I don't tend to show as much as some women, and I appreciate not wanting to assume, but it's still a little frustrating at this stage of pregnancy.
  • Oddly I haven't had many comments on my size, but a lot of "Better sleep while you can" and "Youll never have another quiet night" and crap like that. This is my first. I get it. Life changes when you have kids. That was sort of the idea, folks.

I was big before I got pregnant, so I suspect this reduces the number of comments I get, at least from people who know me. No one is sure, even now, how much is baby belloy and how much is me belly :)
  • I am am 27 weeks and everyone says (family, friends, strangers) that my stomach is small. I don't know if they think it's a compliment or something. It bothers me more than it should! My Dr said my measurements are exactly where they should be so that helps me ignore people's need to comment on my body.
  • Prior to getting pregnant my boss and coworker and I would always go for a drink every Friday after work. My male coworker is like you can have one drink it won't kill you. It annoys me so much, like I'm sorry is this your baby? Are you carrying a baby? I do not want to take any risks so leave me the hell alone! I couldn't imagine having that discussion every day!
  • I just want the stares to stop. Makes me feel like I always have something on my shirt or my high beams are on. Super uncomfortable.
  • I get the "when is your due date?" and then when I tell them "Oh you aren't going to make it"  :/ This gets under my skin the most. Oh and when people ask if I have a lot of stretch marks (because apparently I'm HUGE) and i tell them I actually haven't gotten the first one and they say "just wait, they'll come at the end". Shut up, just shut up.

@alw12290 Yep, mostly coworkers and church ladies. Although I did have a complete stranger at work ask me. And I also had a man ask me if I was going to have a natural birth. That was super creepy.

  • @arhodes6- I spend a lot of time lurking in July because I am at the end of June.  LOL.  So welcome to June.

I honestly don't get why people feel the need to comment on our bodies at all.  It is hard work growing a human and we may not always look our best.  Size doesn't matter as long as you and your LO is healthy.  I think all you ladies are beautiful and wonderful and it don't matter what anyone has to say.

I have two boys already so I get a lot of "are you hoping to finally have a girl?". First off, I already have a girl, she just lives in Heaven and second, I'll be happy to have a healthy baby, boy or girl. Yes, this is a girl, but it's none-ya! Seriously, had random woman yell that at me across the Kroger parking lot the other day.
  • "Sleep while you can!" uhm, excuse me? Sleep? That's already a thing of the past.
  • Mine is "oh, you're having a boy, and you already have a girl! Now you're done!!!"

Stop planning my family! No I'm not done, I want 3 kids, I'd have 4 if  wasn't old lol.

Pro-tip: When strangers ask if it's your first or second baby, tell them it's your second. They say NOTHING. I haven't gotten any comments/advice this time around. Or say it's your fifth, that would work too :)

  • I keep getting told i dont even look pregnant. My clothes dont fit anymore so its obvious that im getting a nice bump. Another coworker is due a month after me and is 2x my size in bump growth. Shes much shorter than i am though so she doesnt have much of anywhere for the baby to go but out.
  • If I hear "you look so cute" one more time I'm gonna barf!! I know there are obviously worse things to hear but that one is really getting old.

  • I also get the, you don't look pregnant at all from behind.  Thank you for letting me know my ass isn't any bigger.
  • If I hear "you look so cute" one more time I'm gonna barf!! I know there are obviously worse things to hear but that one is really getting old.
Yes. I don't feel cute. I don't see cute in the mirror. Just...no.

Exactly! I feel like it's the nicest thing they can think of when you look and feel awkward!

  • @alitria that is beyond sweet! It is so nice to hear comments like that, her parents seem as if they taught her well thus far! I make sure that my six year old is aware of what he is saying to people, you can never teach that too young.  He is such a sweet boy and delivers nothing but compliments to people because I have taught him how to raise spirits rather than bring them down like most do.  This is his first year of K and there is this 'bully' on the bus who has been moved to the front with all the Kindergartners (mind you he is in 5th grade!) and has nothing but foul things to say all the time.  My son came home making sex noises, was told your penis is a 'standing up hotdog,' and most recently was told that Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, and Tooth Fairy is not real!!! Come on kid, my son hasn't even lost a tooth yet, can you at least save some innocence for him and myself to enjoy!!!  (Went off topic on a rant there briefly, can you tell this is still fresh in my mind LOL)
  • I agree with @shannonrnbsn about the looks. If you're that interested in staring at my belly so obviously, just ask if I'm pregnant!! Don't just oddly stare at my belly, I can see you!!!

Funny story: H's cousin (I think he's about 7) asked "so how's that baby doing in there" and I said he's good and getting bigger and he said "yeah, I can tell" lol then he told me baby's name is Sasquatch lol and when saying bye he said "bye, good luck with that labor thing" he's the cutest!! P.S. don't mind the run-on sentence

My Friday was epic- this is what I got:

To the lady in the bathroom who said: "Your face has changed this week!" Kindly, fuck off.

To the woman at the printer who said: "You're walking slower today!" after 'accidentally' stealing my item from the printer before I could get there for the 5th time that day-- Kindly, fuck off.

To the man in the elevator who said: "what are you having?" Me: "A boy." Man: "Yeah, it looks like a boy." Me: "No, it looks like a belly." Man: "No, I have two kids, see." Me: silent side eye. Man: "So I have experience at this." At what? Staring at women's fertile parts?! No sir! Kindly, fuck off.

    Oh. My. Word.
  • I'm just tired of the "you shouldn't be doing that" or "you need to ask for help, its not just you anymore" when it comes to simple tasks. Yes I realize I'm pregnant and shouldn't be doing the same level of activity as I was 7 months ago, but damn it I can carry 2 packs of paper to the copy machine and load it if I want to! I'm pregnant, not completely incapacitated!
I've slowed down and given up a lot being pregnant  (no more Riding or training horses for the time being, significantly modified workouts and life stressors) and it's been rough adjustment for me. I hate it when people assume I need to stop all activity just because I'm pregant.
  • I keep getting the "but you don't even look pregnant" comment. Yes.... I know... I'm 5'8 and plus size (size 16) and have wide hips and am carrying wide... Thanks for telling me I just look chubby instead :/

Yes, ladies! I was a size 14 prepregnancy, but with really very little belly. Now I have a huge, hard ball as a belly and I keep getting, "You don't look 7 months pregnant." No? So I just look really fat? Thanks for the compliment. You're so fing sweet.
  • I am constantly getting "Do you know what it is yet?" by EVERYONE. I get asked multiple times a day at work, at church, people literally demand that I tell them as soon as I know, because they apparently can't stand the thought of a gender neutral shower. They weren't sure what the gender was at my 21 week ultrasound because the kid was uncooperative, and I'll probably find out at my next one, but seriously, it's none of their dang business if I don't want to tell. My baby, people, not yours.
  • @HeartLikeMine3 they really should!! I had a random guy in the grocery store say to my husband and I, congratulations guys! Which was sweet and all but it was really strange.
  • Mine is still unwanted advice. Here I am at work, minding my own business. I've been snacking since 11 or so. I go to get my french fris, and my stupid nosy as hell manager is in there.
Him:"you aren't done with lunch?" He proceeds to look at the clock.
Me:"I haven't taken lunch (clocked out), I've been snacking."
Him: "that's not good for you."
    Me: *side-eye*
    Him: repeats previous sentence
Me: *walks away with French fries*

    I didn't know he was a doctor...
  • Dude. If one more person I don't know decides that it's their place to educate me on breastfeeding, I'm going to go postal.

My Obgyn was called out for a delivery this morning so I saw this young PA who kept saying "cool". She then proceeded to ask me if it was a girl (DS was with me) and states one of each!  Now your done that's my motto! Wtf that's so inappropriate especially since this is your profession your should know it's perfectly acceptable to want more than two kids never mind the sex!
