Husband suggested Liam last night. I know it's super-popular but I really want an L name for my grandmother. Maybe in the middle? He wants Charles in there somewhere. Charles Liam or Liam Charles? We have a great girls name though :-)

I think we've settled on a boys name. It was between Jonas (H's pick) and Jonah (mine). H is a huge Sherlock Holmes fan and wants the MN to be Holmes, so we agreed that Jonah Holmes flowed better than Jonas Holmes. Holmes is not my favorite MN in the world but if I get to have Jonah as the FN then I'm okay with it!

@m6agua@ShallowSeas my daughter's name is Elsa. My husband chose it because he's half Swedish and wanted something that sounded Scandinavian. I think it's such a beautiful name, but I do still sometimes worry that she won't like it when she's older because of the Frozen thing.
It does totally get under my skin when people say "well all you need now is another one to name Anna!" when they meet her. It also doesn't help that she turned out to have blonde hair and blue eyes despite my brown hair and hazel eyes. *sigh*
@SRose109my daughter's name is Elsa as well. It was the only girls name we could agree on. It went well with the names of our boys and I knew the sweetest lady named Elsa when I was a teen. We get the Anna thing a lot too. If this kid is a girl, she will definitely not be Anna.
@banfrogyeah Anna is definitely out. The unfortunate thing is my husband and I both really love the name Aurora, actually. Had to cross that one off the list too though.
I still love Maisie but I'm rethinking it because it is definitely a diminutive and I'm wondering if it passes the 'doctor' test. My daughter is Charlie but her legal name is Charlotte (and, incidentally, she's wanted to be a doctor like me since she was 2) since we wanted her to have a more 'professional' name on her documents.
Im thinking Penelope/Penny Rose might work better...

@KilgraveMadeMeDoIt I totally agree with the "Doctor" test rule. We love nicknames in our house but also want a professional name in case DD or DS decides to be an accountant or doctor or anything that would benefit from a professional first name. Our DD is Ally, but her full name is Allyna. For #2 we are going with Mackenzie for a girl but would call her Mac or Kenzie for short.
We have a stupid common last name (obvs from my screen name), which was in fact my maiden name as well. We want gender specific, unique (but not too crazy) names. We're pretty set on Petra for a girl and Cash or Pierce for a boy.

I have but it hasn't even crossed my husband's mind! I'm in this grasp of antiquity names like Hector, Atlas, Alexander, Helen (of Troy!), Moera, Ares etc Hahaha but then my husband just teases me and says well why not Spartacus and Hercules then! Achilles lol

Liam is growing on me and my mom emailed me to suggest it since she knows I want an L name. So unless husband changes his mind again, we are thinking Liam Charles for a boy and Leah Charlotte for a girl.
We've had names picked out for a boy and a girl since before we even said "I love you" to each other (that conversation is actually when I first realized I loved him). That being said, his mom saw a psychic and said we will have twin boys (she doesn't know I'm pregnant yet.) While I don't believe in psychics, my first comment to him was "but we only have one boys name!"
@malloryferland my DH has an official name on his birth certificate that no one calls him because his dad nicknamed him Spartacus in the womb and he goes by Spike.

We already have a girl named Parker Avery Leigh so we are thinking for this baby Carter regardless of sex and if it's a boy Jamal as a middle name and a girl Jordan. My husbands initials is Cj so he wasn't a Cj. Although he named our daughter( we were team green so Parker was our first name) so I was hoping his was my turn. We like gender neutral names
We've known for all of 3 days and my H is convinced we are naming this child Thomas Magnum (Magnum P.I.). A few minutes into our convo he says "Well, don't let that sway you on TM." I thought he was giving me a pass but he was actually telling me he doesn't mind that that's the name of my most recent ex before him. Oh boy. Y'all, he's sold.

We've been throwing around names playfully since before TTC. We thought we had a girls name (Olivia Marie), and then it became super popular and a coworker ended up naming her daughter the same thing, so it's out.
I'm also avoiding names that end in N. So far all the grandkids on H's side end in N and it bugs me (even if it wasn't intentional) lol (Keegan, Dawson, Payton, Addison, Easton).
Our son is James, nicknamed Jay because that's H's name as well. James informed me early in our dating time that his future son would be named after him, but it was nearly impossible for us to decide on his nickname, and we didn't settle on it for sure til we were at the hospital. So, I'm terrified of being able to commit to a name that's not already decided! Plus, I have a last name that starts with R, and ends with N and has two redundant syllables, so names like Grayson are out because it's too much DunDunDunDun to me. Weird, I know.
But, I like Olivia Hester (family name). Also, Amelia. But both of those first names are pretty popular so I'm not sure if I want to go that route.
@angieandjamesmy 2nd son nicknamed his little sister Hesta when she was born. I felt a little bad that I never considered a name like that for her because hearing him say it, it sounds so beautiful. Hester in your baby name made me think of that.
DH and I have talked about it a little but if this is anything like last time we wont pick a name until we see the baby. We had a list with DS but couldn't really agree on anything until he was born. Surprisingly the name we picked wasn't even one we had talked about. I was set on the name Colton but we ended up naming DS Mason. We have an easier time agreeing on girls names though so maybe if this one is a girl she will have a name before we get to the hospital.
Alma, Jane, or Colette for girl. SO is lukewarm on Alma though it's far and away my favorite. May hold back final decision for birth. Alma if fair, Jane if darker hair ... that sort of thing.
Yes!!! If it's a boy his name will be Maxwell Benson (DH's name is Ben), and if it's a girl her name will more than likely be Alexandra Juliet, Sasha for short since I'd like to honor my Russian heritage in some way.

We agree on absolutely zero names. ZERO NAMES. My husband has atrocious taste.
Mine too! I thought we were set on a girl name but discussed it yesterday & he says he doesn't remember agreeing to it. He 100% agreed to it a long time ago. I told him no take-backs!
I gave him a list of about 13 perfectly reasonable boys names & he vetoed ALL of them! Then he suggests names I would never consider. I don't know what we'll do. Not sure I can find something I like that he hasn't already said no to.
Our first born is Nolan. If it's a girl we're set on Maryn and we don't agree on anything for a boy right now. We have an Irish last name and want to keep the names Irish/Scottish in origin. We could have 10 daughters and agree on every name but we find boy names so difficult. The only name we agree on right now ( by agree I mean he doesn't detest it) is Rory.
I just found out I was pregnant yesterday, so we haven't discussed it yet. Our son is Samuel so I like: girls: Annabelle (Anna), Clara, Hadley, Grace, Isla boys: I'm lost. I like Henry and James. Love Evan but DH vetoed last time
His son's name is Robert Joseph, so he thought it would be fun to name this one something JR. If it's a girl he wants the middle name to be Ruth since it's my middle name, his mom's middle name, and like 4 of his grandmother's middle name. I like the name Claudia because you don't hear it anywhere. But what name goes with Ruth????

Honestly, most names go with Ruth, as few feminine names end in a sound similar to the beginning of Ruth, and it's a single syllable.
It's a little funny to see all the ways DH and I differ in little things like this. We were NTNP and actually agreed before marriage to consider fostering in the future, but that having kids of our own wasn't the plan (we're adjusting to this new reality, still, but are overall happy with our surprise). Anyway, this means that parenting was not a topic that we discussed.
As it turns out, names are one area that we are probably going to have to really work on... My family are all big proponents of the "don't name your kid after anyone you know" group, but DH loves the idea of using family names (grandparents, great-grandparents, etc.). DH only has 4 male cousins and one of his top choices for a boy is the same as one of his cousin's name.
We might have found a compromise for a girl name, at least. Since he was adopted, he wants to use the feminine variation of his birth name (think Joe-Josephine or Nick-Nicole) it would have meaning to him, but wouldn't be copying the name of someone they'll meet at a family dinner.
I'm so excited to possibly pick a name! I didn't get to choose my daughter's name, her dad picked it all, Ashlyn LeAngela. But this time around I am hoping to win and get my choice. I want Gracelyn Marie but my little sister swooped up Grace as her girl name so now I have no girl name. Boy I want Elliot James but that's a hot debate at my house. Husband hates it. He wants Jack. I think I actually like that for a girl. Weird? Maybe it's the hormones!
We discussed baby names last week and we both love Emilia Rose. Ronin (TBD) on the middle name for the boy. I am not too fond of the boy name but DH really loves it. So I am working with him on one we both absolutely love. I never thought naming my child would be so much pressure We both want to know the sex of our baby as soon as it's possible.

@minipinky871 My coworker just named his baby girl Elliot (not sure if they spelled it differently to be more feminine looking), and I think it's actually a really cute girl's name! There was a female character on Scrubs named Elliot!

My first daughter's name was easy - I pretty much told my husband the day I met him that if we ever had a girl that she had to be named after my grandfather. So luckily when we found out we were having a girl, there was zero debate about Sydney Alice, after both of our grandparents. Before we found out we were having twins, my husband joked that he got to pick the next name since I did for our first.
We have a boys name that we both love, also named after family, Dean William, but are at a loss for a second girl name or second boy name. We figure we'll wait until we find out what we're having before we start the debate! Some of my favorite boy names have also been featured in top 100 boy names in recent years, so I'm a little hesitant to want to use them. I do love the names Logan and Carter though. For girls I like Madison and Taylor.
We're thinking Calvin James if it's a boy (Calvin because DH loved "Calvin & Hobbes" as a child, James after DH's father). And Jillian for a girl, no middle name picked out yet. Although I LOVE the name Keagan for a girl, DH won't budge...
My name is Jillian and I haven't heard of a new baby having it in a while! Great name
Well we might agree on Magnolia Jo nn Maggie for a girl. I'm still campaigning for Timothy (Anything) for a boy. my H is really set on Magnolia, so I kinda want to use it to my advantage to get him to agree to timothy before we find out waht we're having.
edited: spelling
Magnolia is my #1 girl pick (I love the NN Maggie!) but DH is not necessarily on bored.

boys: I'm lost. I like Henry and James. Love Evan but DH vetoed last time
As it turns out, names are one area that we are probably going to have to really work on...
