I also have a close friend who is struggling with fertility right now and I felt so much guilt telling her I am pregnant but she was really happy for me so that made it better. I always try to be there for her but not overwhelm her. It's so hard to know what she needs from me emotionally on any given day and I never want to hurt her!
@fishwife799 awesome for cleaning that up! You seriously rock my socks!!
Has anyone heard from @theatremandy recently? I was going through the sheet and she hasn't posted since the beginning of February. I'm just hoping everything is ok.
@fishwife799 - you rock and thank you for doing all that work! With that said, I think I totally missed posting for due date and sex threads...if it's not too much trouble, I'm due June 16th with a baby boy
Also, I'm having a crazy hard time keeping up, life is ridiculous right now, but I seriously LOVE you ladies that is all.
Thanks for sharing this with me! When we found out, the first week I felt so lost. I kept asking DH.. How will we reprimand her? Do we treat her gently as opposed to our son? We will have to be more lenient with her. We will have to watch her so closely.... He finally looked at me and said "why would we do that? Why would we treat her any differently to him? The minute we start acting like she's any less of a person than him is the minute we fail as parents". This is why I absolutely love my husband. He is so right. They are capable of so much more than people give them credit for, simply because of the label "learning disability". Sure, she will need pushing and it will be more work to get her to meet milestones, but we have decided to expect the same out of her as we do our son. If she can't quite keep up, that's ok too! But we certainly won't act like she's broken. She's far from it.

@MamaNicoleof3 my mom has about 30 chickens, 8 (meat) cows, 3 goats and she wants pigs,.plus she has her garden. Get a goat for milk, easier to milk than a cow and you can use milk for soap and stuff too. They breed easily and more often then cows and if you rotate through 2 or 3 nanny goats, you'll always have one to milk

We plan on having goats when we get some property. We will have more chickens, lambs, a pig and goats. I'm hoping it will happen before our kids are to old for 4H. Most of them will be bread for meat or for auctioning.

Lurking from July but I read here all the time cause I'm right on the cusp.. Your daughter definitely is not broken, and you and your husband are going to make amazing parents to her with your mindsets. I just wanted to share, I'm a Zumba instructor and had a girl with downs in my class for the longest time before I moved across the country. We connected really well, and when she decided she wanted to teach Zumba too, I was so excited. Her parents totally backed her, she and her mom did the licensing together and teach classes to Special Olympics athletes weekly. She also competes in the Special Olympics, won a couple gold medals in skiing and is a runner and weight lifter. She speaks at fundraising events for the Special Olympics all the time, and is super involved with that, on top of having a part time job at Starbucks. And I think a huge part of that - her confidence and abilities - come from having a support system around her that doesn't just help her do stuff, but enable her to do the things she wants to do, herself.

Now these are the kind of plans I have for my daughter!! What an awesome mama. And good for you for helping to get them there. Thank you for sharing! It's things like this that make me so excited for her future.
@VikingGirl12 You are such an amazing mom and I'm constantly taking note of things you do for DS and this LO because I hope I can be half the mom that you are! Really all of you ladies are awesome and I've learned so much from this BMB!
@VikingGirl12 getting goosebumps seeing the conversations about your little girl. I'm so happy for her that she has the best parents, I'm so happy for you guys, I just want to cry all around

^ This, exactly! @VikingGirl12 you are such an inspiration, & I am learning so much from you already!
Heaping more praise on you @VikingGirl12 -- I'm just so impressed with how you've handled the news, how you're planning on raising your sweet daughter and your general attitude about this. The world would be a better place if more people were like you. I've learned a lot from your strength and you've helped me put things in perspective sometimes, so thank you!
@VikingGirl12 - I love, love, love you and your husband's perspective on everything!! There is a page on Facebook, "The Happy Soul Project" that a mom of three started when her daughter was born with DS. I find her not only hilarious but just an all around amazing special mom! You should check her out
Speaking of things I laugh uncontrollable at, did anyone else hear the story of Boaty McBoatface? Only when an marine environmental group leaves it to the internet to name their new $288 million research vessel, will they get a name like RSS Boaty McBoatface. I can't even type it without laughing like a little girl.

I saw this online and thought I would come clean. Maybe the other Canadian mamas are ready to come out with it too. We have something to confess. We never go to prenatal classes because we birth our babies in a different way from Americans...

It actually would be super convenient if they came out with wee snowsuits though
Booked my prenatal massage followed by a pedi for 4 Saturdays from now...waiting until next week to book my hotel room because the rates will cut in half if I wait a few days.
Can I just add, a rainy day with toddlers who are now getting close to nap and just stared psysically fighting each other is making me wish it was tonight and tomorrow?

Thank you for the much needed laugh!! Had a rough night last night so I'm in total bitch mode today. Lol.
I've found a small, tasteful "No Solicitations" sign I'm thisclose to ordering for my front door. Do any of you ladies use one, and do you find it effective? Basically, I don't want to waste my money if these a-holes are still going to ring my doorbell to sell me pest control, encyclopedias for my cat, or some equally useless sh*t.

I haven't put one up here, but we did in Iowa and it cut out just about all that nonsense.

Excellent, purchasing. I just spent a few mins reading my local county code on door to door solicitors. Guess who's got 2 thumbs and will be reporting these nuisances next time they violate?
Got a question: does anyone else feel like they are having BHs after eating a meal? I can't tell if it's LO fighting for room with my stomach or actual contractions. Sometimes the whole stomach is hard so I would think it is, but then that would mean I just had like 6 in a row. That seems unlikely.
