Re: 35+ Moms

  • Doing well @texafornian just trying my best to take everything one day at a time.  I'm a planner so that's tough but no choice in this, it's a long 8 months lol

  • @TrulyBlessed22 I hear ya...i'm a straight up Virgo so I plan and organize everything to a T. lol This time around i'm much more chill with planning but I'm still anxious to get the show on the road and have my appointments...to know and be reassured that everything's going according to plan.

  • I'm with you on the planning. I planned my first very carefully but this one took a lot longer so I feel off kilter.

I am being put on a progesterone supplement, no one has said AMA but I wonder if it's not related. I'm not doing well adjusting to the idea of putting more hormones in my body but it's to protect Le Bebe so I will.

  • @earichar23 I am also on progesterone. I know what you mean about extra hormones, but the way I feel OK about it is reminding myself that we produce progesterone naturally when we are pregnant anyway, so its not like introducing something that wouldn't be there otherwise. And it cant hurt so there is no real down side, only up side if it helps you sustain the pregnancy :-)
  • That's a good way to look at it @rspalding001 I don't know why it is bothering me so much. I'm going to just blame it on the hormones already making me cray-cray (and I haven't started the progesterone yet!)!

  • I had a bit of a freakout today. I had like two tiny dots of spotting and have been feeling sort of crampy and achy all day. They told me if I wasn't full on bleeding, not to worry. But it kind of freaked me out anyway. The cramping was in my side, right where the ovaries are, so Internet searching suggests it is normal for this stage. And my husband helpfully if inelegantly pointed out that the two tiny spots could just be a scratch or something from all the stuff that I am 'putting up there.' (eg the progesterone tablets). So, yeah, maybe I just had a sharp nail or something. It really was a tiny bit of spotting.
  • TMI alert, for those of you on progesterone @ficbot @rspalding001 did they cause any side effects? I used my first yesterday and I have been uncomfortably soggy all day long. Hoping my body will adjust and it isn't going to last the next 5 weeks.

@earichar23 I do them only at night when I'm going to bed. In the morning I do notice some discharge so I always shower in the morning. Throughout the day it's not too bad, maybe some white discharge but usually pasty in texture. If it's uncomfortable I'd use a panty liner. Hopefully that will help with the soggy feeling.
  • @earichar23 they will make your discharge turn blue :-)

one ne thing I hate is the hassles I get at the pharmacy every time. Yes, you just refilled it a few weeks ago. Yes, I am going through a lot of them. Yes, this is what the doctor directed me to do. Today I got a new guy there and he said 'well, the doctor did not direct ME' and refused to fill it until he could confirm. I only have enough to last until Sunday. If I go in on Sunday and they won't refill it, I am prepared to throw a tantrum.
  • Hey ladies. I am 35, turn 36 next month. My husband is also 35 and this will be our first.
  • @ficbotWe must have different prescriptions. Mine certainly don't turn anything blue ha ha. Can you get ahold of your doctor and have her contact the pharmacy? That's terrible that they won't refill you.
  • Hi Everyone
I'm 37 and this is baby number 5, (maybe 6 too)
  • Hi hot mama's! I'n 38 with my 3rd. My son's are 9 and 6. We will see if my SO finally gets his girl... Happy and healthy pregnancies to you all!

My boys are 10&11. If this isn't a girl it's wearing those frilly baby tutus anyways.
  • @NatashaSprout photos of the boy in the tutu or it didn't happen! I mean...I think first birthday picture for sure lol

  • I'm 36 with a 4yr old DS. We have been trying for 3yrs for this. Dr found nothing wrong with me. I am nervous! I will be 37 a few weeks after this baby is born.
  • I'll be 37 when this baby arrives.  My son was born just 5 days before my 35th birthday.  That pregnancy went smoothly right up until the end, when I started to show some symptoms of preeclampsia that led to an induction the day before his due date.  I'd be lying if I said I don't have worries, but I'm looking forward to talking with my doctor and figuring out a plan of care.

  • @TrueMyth I had a velamentous cord insertion with my last pregnancy so I hear ya on being spooked. I'm looking forward to talking with my new OB (moved to a diff state after having been with my doc 17 years!) this week as well...

Hi! This will be #4 (gulp). I'm 42 and our other kids are 3,1,1. Nervous about loss- over age 40 the statistics are grim. Plus we had a mc before our oldest so it's especially scary to me. But hopeful! Happy to see I'm not the only ama!

I'm glad to not be the only 42 year old!  And @soylatte is in it with us too!
As you Can tell, I have not much idea how to properly participate in these discussions lol.  Of course, my ONLY internet is on my phone.

Had an ultrasound over a week ago.  Saw the heartbeat!

Try not to worry!!! I had this with DD at 6w and then again around 12w.
My dr told me that the 6w bleeding was likely old implantation blood. Seems late, I know.
Everything was otherwise healthy with my pregnancy... (except that she refused to come out when it was time).

  • @CPM13 I know it's stressful but it's quite amazing how many ladies are having perfectly healthy kiddos after 40!  I to am 42 and I gave birth to my daughter at 41. Will be 43 when this little is born...

And yay @soylatte and @shawnjuliet for also being in the over 40 crowd!
