35+ Moms

I'm sure there are many here who are considered advanced maternal age. How old are you, and is this your first, second, etc?

I'm C, from Canada. I'm turning 37 in 10 days. This is my second baby. I'd have another after this if possible.
I've probably been on The Bump longer than you have.

After 31 cycles, baby boy K (IUI) born 11/03/11

Re: 35+ Moms

  • Hi!  I'm 35 and this will be our 2nd.  We had our 1st at age 32.  We plan on being done after this baby unless God throws a big surprise our way lol.

If my calculated Due Date is correct this baby will be born about 2 weeks before I turn 36.  What a wonderful early Birhday gift.

  • I just turned 35 and have myself a hot young 27 year old DH. This is the 3rd and probably last. No one can convince me that we are AMA. I feel and look better than I did with my first 2 kids!
  • I am 38. But we had a lot of tests done because we were having IVF and my dr said she cared much more about the number on those tests than on on the number of my age :-)
  • I just turned 39 and husband is 43. Our DD is 15 months. I had my 3 day and 21 day tests done during this cycle and all levels were normal. This gives me some comfort going into the pregnancy. Prayers to all of the Aging Beauties for healthy babes!
  • I am 38 and I have a beautiful 8 year old daughter. Had no issues getting pregnant at 30. Still not having issues getting pregnant at 38 ( w fertility Meds) but my body seems to be struggling to maintain the pregnancies. Hello to all the other wise mamas here!
  • *TW - Loss mentioned*

I'm 35, and have had two MC prior to this pregnancy.  I first got pregnant when I was 33, the second time at 34.  I haven't had a very difficult time conceiving, but hard time  getting them to stick.

Have they checked your progesterone levels?  Low progesterone caused at least one of my losses.

  • They haven't checked my levels but I do take progesterone vaginally twice a day. I assumed that was doing the trick. I will ask about it. Thanks for the advice @ShawnJuliet
  • Hi Ladies, I'm 37, had my first at 35. Actually went for fertility testing last week but guess I didn't need it! Looking forward to getting to know you all!

  • Hi! I'm Leslie and I'm 39 but will be 40 when baby is born. DH and I have a 14 year old DD, a 9 year old DD and a 6 year old DS. Best wishes to you all for healthy and happy pregnancies!
  • I'm 37 and this will be my 3rd baby.  We have been exceptionally lucky with our first two pregnancies/births and I hope I'm not pushing my luck with a #3.

Yes, my progesterone was normal.  I've had blood work - a genetic carrier test, a blood clotting disorder test, and maybe something else, and an HSG - all normal.  DH bloodwork is good too, so I guess just bad luck

  • I'm 34, but turning 35 later this month. I was actually surprised to get pregnant this quickly, we tried for a year last time, but this time it was only 4 months. Hoping/ praying my body has "got this"!
  • I'm 37 and will be 38 in November.  I have had 3 pregnancies before, 2 of which brought me my two daughters, who are 4 and 1.5.  My pregnancy in between them ended in a miscarriage.  H and I have been trying this time for 3 months, and I was super excited to get a very faint positive last night at 7 dpo.  Today the lines are getting darker.  I'm nervous but hopeful.  It's nice to have a group of others who are AMA like myself.

  • TW loss mentioned ***************

Hi I'm 36, turning 37 soon and this is our 2nd pregnancy (1st ended in MMC at 8 week). H and I were married in August and would like 2, so here's hoping!!I'm very happy to be back in a BMB and looking forward to a healthy 9 months with you all!
  • I have an 8 year old daughter. Looks like we'll both have siblings with big age gaps. @momousekee
  • @Jolenef07 I vacillate between thinking it's a great age split and feeling guilty for the long spacing. It's not like I can make them closer in age now, though!
  • I am 35 and this will be my second child. I have a 20 yo and a 11yo stepdaughter! Exciting times!
  • So telling the in laws was a total bust.  According to what they said:

Apparently this is all my fault and hubby had nothing to do with it.  I'm too old (at 42) and haven't had a baby in over 16 years so how is this safe?  We're going to have trouble raising this child IF I don't miscarry which I probably will.  We're too old to raise children.  What was I thinking? (Because hubby had no part of this, right?)
    Jules
  • @ShawnJuliet wow, I'm sorry you had to deal with that.  Some people are straight up aholes. Sending you positives vibes for a H&H 9 months

  • @ShawnJuliet you are obviously not in jail right now which makes you a kinder person than I am. I would have lost it. Stay strong. This baby is a blessing and if they can't appreciate it, they don't have to be involved. At least you know how they are upfront.
  • People like that are simply people that are extremely dissatisfied with their own lives, and who wake up feeling inadequate every morning. So they try to make others feel as bad as they do. Rise above mama, rise above. My grandma had my dad at age 40 (in 1949!) and I just found out that my great grandma had her at age 42! I think you got this, mama. If people could do this in the 1800s, you can do it today ;).
  • @ShawnJuliet Sending you hugs because that is just awful.
  • @ShawnJuliet (not 35+ but I saw that and couldn't just scroll by!) I'm so sorry they were so awful. :( I really hope they lighten up because that's just nasty.

  • @ShawnJuliet  Well, they are big jerks who are going to miss out on a lot of joy. Forget them and take extra good care of you. Your body can do this!
  • Hi! I'm 35 now but will be 36 when I have this baby...
  • @ShawnJuliet What the actual F. Well, I guess your in-laws have just lost their grandparenting privileges. If that was me, it'd be sayanora, suckers.

  • Hello!  Im 39, this will be my first baby and I have just had my booking in visit.  Very pleased that I am classed as low risk and it was only after the visit that I realised I was properly anxious about it!  All is well so far though and I am looking forward to actually starting to share the news with people.  Thinking I will wait until the scan is completed though.  :)
  • HI Im 37, wil be 38 when this one is born.
@ShawnJuliet  Im so sorry they were not supportive. In laws can be the worst. Dont pay any attention to them. Hugs!
  • @ShawnJuliet  that is terrIble that they would talk like that to you!
  • Oh by the way ladies I am a momma to a 14 month old, so this is baby 2:)
  • Hi. I'm 35 years old. I have a 6 year old and a 4 year old. Excited and a bit nervous about being pregnant with #3.

  • @ShawnJuliet you're not alone in the grandma club! I'm 42 and will be 43 when this kiddo makes his or her way into the world. We have one other child...I gave birth to my daughter in 2014 right after I turned 41.

Sorry your in-laws reacted the way they did...try not to take it to heart! Fist bump to all of you AMA'ers!

  • I am only 34 but will be 35 in June. This is baby number 4 and probably our last. My daughters are 15 and 12 and my son is 7. I have to admit I was super worried about my age and family reactions also but after seeing this thread I am so happy that I am not alone!
  • How are all of you ladies doing today?
