I like Elliot Reid and Andrew Hayes as far as name combos! ( I know they're jumbled) however Wesley is one of my favorite boy names of all time. Wesley Kase sounds really good (but so does Kase Wesley!)
Thoughts on Rhys for a boy? I've loved the name for a while, and (shockingly!) DH actually likes it too. When I spelled it out to some friends, three knew how it was pronounced, but one did not. I guess pronunciation is my biggest concern with it. I also can't figure out a good middle name with it... Last name is McCoy.
Rhys is at the top of our list too! One of the few DH and I sort of agree on. I strongly prefer this way of spelling it and I like that it is short and sweet and unique enough without being too out there. The only trouble I have with it is picking a middle name. All the middle names I like are short and I feel like it needs one with more syllables.
DH likes Lane, Linden, Corbin, and Redmond. Of those I could maybe do Lane but I don't love it.
I like Blake, Henry, Eamon, and Callum but he hates all of those. I also really love Lachlan but there's no good way to shorten it and I feel like it is too long to say all the time.
We've pretty much settled on our boy name, but are having a tough time with girl names. A couple of names that popped up on our radar recently are Sloane and Laney (Lainey?). What do y'all think of those names for a girl?
I like Ryan as a first name choice for girl. I know one and always thought it was a great name.
We are having a boy and are having a tough time. DH's side of the family pretty much reuses the same boy names over and over again for first and middle names. We are both in favor of not doing that so are working on our list. Here is what we are liking so far: Kase, Hayes, Elliot, Griffin, and Reid.
Middle name will be a family name most likely, either David, Andrew or Wesley.
I would love your thoughts and combo ideas. I know these are mainly non-traditional so they won't be liked by all.
Hayes Andrew Elliot David Griffin Wesley
Those are my picks. Wesley makes me think of the Princess Bride

@rikopy I like both of those names for girls. Sloane has always been a favorite of mine. Thanks for the help with mine! Hayes is my favorite too so am working on DH going for it!
@2cutepups87 - I also have no idea what MN would go with Rhys! I think I saw Alexander suggested somewhere, but I don't love it. My DH has tried to appease me by saying one of my favorite names (Everett) could be used as a MN, so that may go on the short list too.

I love Lainey. Sloane has come across my list but I dont like the harsher "n" sound at the end.
Love Ryan for a girl! I had a neighbor growing up with that name, but she spelled it "Rian". I too love unisex girl names.
Found out we are having a girl and My bf and I like the name Charlie Mae, but dont really love Charlotte...running into your Alexis/Lexi delima. We were thinking of just naming her Charlie but had your similar concerns. Thoughts??
Also wanted opinions on the name Wylie, for a girl? Or is that just toooo out there? What if we made it more feminine by adding a middle name like Mae (this is my grandma's middle name, so just an idea) ? Last name is Vergnetti btw
I grew up with a Wylie and she was so cool. I love that name!
I thought DH was sort of on board with Rhys but he said he really likes Lane. I am not sure. I feel like it would be easy for kids to call him "Lame". Also I think of the accountant character on Mad Men for anybody who watches that show. I could definitely do it for a middle name I'm just not sure about it for a first name...

Trendy trendy trendy.
It exploded in popularity in the mid 90s, and has been hovering in the high 200s low 300 since. Add in all the "lanieys" and "Delaneys" and it feels like this name is everywhere.
@Katienu Oh really? Awesome! I knew there had to be some Wylie girls out there! My bf and I really like it but of course I got different opinions from other people (my roomates, my mom, etc ) I love the sound of Wylie J Vergnetti, but we may just save it for if we have a boy.
All the names listed are nice and unique. Just my two cents (not that it really matters) - Unisex names frustrate me. I work in HR. When I'm returning an email of a perspective applicant, I sometimes don't know whether to address someone as Mr. or Ms. Its even more confusing when you meant someone in person with a unisex name who's appearance is a bit ambiguous. It's just really awkward on my part and I absolutely hate offending anyone.
I have a unisex name and get addressed as Mr. over the phone and in emails, but it's never bothered me. Comes with the territory of having a unisex name.
Ok, DH and I have finally settled on a top name of Flynn Thomas. On the list below that are Torin James, Owen Marcus, and Sebastian Michael. Thoughts? I'm really surprised about Flynn. I just said it out loud and he said yes!

Flynn is awesome! I definitely like it the best of all your options.
We are having two boys and so far the only ones we really like are Rhys Neptune (H's middle name/family name) and Crew Nicholas (my middle name is Nicole).
So DH's father pasted away a few years ago and since we are having a boy DH wanted to pass along his father's name to honor him. His father's name is Bujo. It would be baby's middle name. The thought is nice. so here is the issue... DH is from Africa... where names have meaning and importance. For example our last name means 'another death'. lovely, right? Well when Bujo was born, he came after great grandma had already had many children, and each one of them had died as infants... so when this boy was born, she named him Bujo, which means "welcome to another funeral" because she expected him to die as well... so Although DH wants to honor his father... would you give your child a name that means "welcome to another funeral, another death"?????
If we do give this child Bujo as a middle name, we will need a kick-a$$ first name to make up for the rest of his name!!!

@searchingforameaning - did his father have a middle name or a nickname? I don't take much stock in the meaning of last names but I get your concern about using his first name since it has such a negative meaning. Obviously his father survived, but was he a joyous man who lived a very full life? If so then I'd use the name to honor him and his spirit and not worry about the actual meaning. Another option is using a similar name or a different B name.
Quentin. DH LOVES the name. My thoughts are first it doesn't have a good meaning, it's not bad, just means 5 or fifth. But nothing meaningful. Second it'd be it'd be Quinn for short. Which I love Quinn, but grew up with my dad watching "Sliders" so I associate is as a girls name. Am I wrong? What's you're take on Quentin/Quinn?

Need sounds opinions- if that's a thing. I'm liking a lot of boys names ending with S. Elias, Miles....etc. but our last name starts with S. Is that too many S sounds together?

I only know female Quinns. When I think of s make Quinn I think of homeland but that's his last name, they just call him Quinn.

I know a Miles S and never thought of it as weird sounding. Especially because you can kind of hold the s so you can tell its part of the first and last names. Our last name starts with K so with DS I vetoed Jacob since I couldn't stand how Jake K---- sounds.

We also wanted to avoid most names ending in an S for the same reason.

What about a variation of Bujo but with a softer meaning.

I think Quinn is unisex. We're planning to call our LO "Quint" if it's a boy b/c he'll be the 5th in the family with the name and I insisted we're using a nickname if we do that. I'm not calling DH, his dad, and the baby all the same thing.

@Hummingbird125 I heard of this name a few years ago so I knew it was pronounced Reece. I don't think it's too out there and it's easy to remember once you know how it's pronounced.
@2cutepups87 I know of a little boy named Lane. It's a family name and I thought it sounded nice. Pretty strong and I've never heard of anyone with that name before.
@LWC1112 I like Elliot, Reid and Wesley a lot. Reid is on my list and I love Wesley (but a in real life jerk ruined it for me).
@Hummingbird125 I had a guy friend named in high school Rhys and I think it's a great name!
What at are yall's thoughts on the name Fallon for a girl? Are there any other ways to spell it?
I've only known one Fallon and it was a guy. If you're going to use it, I'd stick with the traditional spelling. Please no Fallyn or anything like that.

Ugh. Guess you better get new friends. JK. Curious though, what negative things did they have to say? I think Cedric is a solid name.

Not a fan of the surnames for girls trend.
