Who has been talking names already?

Re: Who has been talking names already?

  • @ShallowSeas I love Phoebe but my husband vetoed it because of Friends. You'd think more than ten years after the end of the show, we could use a name that happened to be used by one of the characters, but nope. Bah.

  • We've had a boy name for years, Lincoln. Middle name will be Andre or James, still undecided. We are stuck for a girl though. We've discussed Charlotte, Adley, Kennedy (family name), and Raegan "Rae" after my grandmother. I swear we do not have a thing for US Presidents!

    @ShallowSeas I love Coralie!
  • We have not seriously discussed any names yet, but if I get my way for a girl I like Juliette (maybe Julia), Gracelyn, or Evelyn. And for boys I love Jacob so its hard to get past that option ha.  We do know we want to use our first names as their middle names (my mom did that and so did my grandmother so would like to continue that).

  • @comealongponds  is river the name you've chosen? It's WONDERFUL! I have it on my list too but my love is pretty set on Knox for a boy
  • @Comealongponds I should note that I actually know two people who are named River, and I think it's an awesome actual name. Just saying...

  • @SunshineJar at the moment River and Lake are just unisex nicknames for the babies...they may end up as second middle names though, if I can talk DH into it!

DH and I have been throwing around names since first TTC. Unfortunately, we are very different on the style of names that we like. I thought we had picked a girl and boy name (Grace "Gracie" Elizabeth or Andrew "Drew" Wyatt). He likes really earthy names like Autumn, Clay, Brooke. They're just not my style. So there have been a lot of compromises just to get to these two names. Now he wants to revisit them....

    Edit: Because grammar is important...

  • We've thrown around Charlotte or Chloe for a girl, and Dominick for a boy.  As with our first, we will not decide for certain until the baby is actually born and we get to "meet" him / her.

Crazy Lincoln James is currently at the top of our boys list. Our last name starts with an L so we sort of want the LL thing. DHs name is James and that's my dads middle name so we are using that for sure. Levi is our second.

for girls name Amelia is #1 so far with Lily and Hadley up there as well.

  • Our girl name is set in stone and we are going with Ella James. (James is my husbands middle name.) For a boy we are doing Valor Landon or Valor Mason. Mason is H's older brother and I like the name. But I LOVE Landon. H suggested we go with Valor Landon Mason but it just seems to wordy for me. I might just go with it so I get what I want and just pretend the Mason part doesn't exist.
  • This will be our second so we have a pretty good idea for the girl at least. Boy not so much. With #1 it took us forever to agree on a name and I think it will be this way for the boy's name this time around. For the girl we both very much like Mackenzie however so Im 99% sure that will be it if we have a girl. For a boy my top contenders are James, Harrison and Caleb.
  • We're thinking Calvin James if it's a boy (Calvin because DH loved "Calvin & Hobbes" as a child, James after DH's father). And Jillian for a girl, no middle name picked out yet. Although I LOVE the name Keagan for a girl, DH won't budge...
  • Picked those out as soon as we knew we were expecting... Anaya Samelle for a girl and Lucas Samuel for a boy. Just have to wait and see which it will be
  • I thought I had a boy's name picked out, at least... but then I found out it was on the top 50 list last year, and I'm super bummed!  I want a name that's different without being too out there (don't want to set him/her up for being picked on).  My boy's name was Owen, which an old coworker named his son 10ish years ago, and I love... but apparently the popularity has really picked up recently, and I don't want to do a trend name.  :(

I loved readying all your baby names.
I am either blessed or cursed as it is just me deciding..like if i f* up, and the child hates it, I'm the only one to blame :worried:
Trying to find names that are pronounceable in Norway and in The Netherlands, which is hard, because I really like traditional 'older' names and those are hard to pronounce for either country. And when I do find a name and tell my bestfriend, she's like..oh no..here that means...or we use it for ...
    It's exhausting.
I agree with @comealongponds: naming a person is a big responsibility. I already regret my cats name, and my bunny changed his name twice during his 9 years of living...
You're funny! I'm curious, what's your regrettable cat's name? And what were your bunny's names?

  • @shamrocandroll Owenis a normal name in yhe UK, maybe that's why its in the top 50 but is still unknown in yhe states?
  • We have names rolling around from last time still. Probably Fletcher Edwin or Josephine Celeste although I'm not as sold on Fletcher as I was 2 years ago... hopefully I'll warm back up to it or we'll have a JoCe!

  • I am loving seeing everyone's possible name choices!  For a boy we are thinking Miles Randall and for a girl Molly Rebecca.  Both first and middle names are family names.  We named our daughter after my sister and grandmother, I love having the family connection and a story to tell my kids on how we chose their names.

  • I think we're actually pretty settled on William Thane for a boy now. Thane is a family name, an old Scottish and English noble title, which you may be familiar with if you've ever read Macbeth. (Fun fact: the real Macbeth, MacBethad mac Findlaích, was born in the burgh from which my family originates.) Girl name is most likely going to be Maisie Elizabeth, or we may go with Penelope Rose.

  • We will probably do Charlotte Jane for a girl or Thomas Andrew for a boy. All family names. A close second for girl is Juliet Martha (again family names).

Well we might agree on Magnolia Jo nn Maggie for a girl. I'm still campaigning for Timothy (Anything) for a boy. my H is really set on Magnolia, so I kinda want to use it to my advantage to get him to agree to timothy before we find out waht we're having.

  • comealongponds I LOVE the middle name Ruth! We may have to borrow that one! And I think the fact that you called your child a "take home baby" is hilarious, hehe.

  • I'm also thoroughly enjoying this discussion! Names are so hard for us! We have a girl name 100%. It'll be after my mom who passed away 10 years ago. Current boy option: Easton (my fav), Anderson, André, and I'm shocking myself that I'm considering Jefferson.
  • @KilgraveMadeMeDoIt I am obsessed with your girl names.

  • @Chcaggie1 "take home baby" is something you'll hear those of us who've lost a baby (miscarriage or late term loss) use...because we have a baby (or babies) we didn't get to bring home.

My DH actually hates Ruth, but it was my grandmother's name and I told him it was non-negotiable!

  • @ShallowSeas Zahra is one of our top contenders, similar to Zara.

    I like Zayn.

  • If it's a girl we'll go with MacKenzie Lee (Lee is my husband's middle name) and if it's a boy he'll be Levi Jackson (no sentiments value...we just love it).
Our first daughter is Maleigh (Mah-Lee) Elizabeth. She has my middle name.
I was hoping to do something in honor of my late father but I really, really can't get on board with Raymond (which was his name).

  • comealongponds so sorry! I was not trying to be insensitive at all. I've never heard that and had no idea it was related to loss. :-(

My great grandmothers name was Ruth and its biblical so I'm liking it more and more everyday.

  • We have thought about Luke for a boy and Chloe or Lauren for a girl!
  • We've got Remington Elias for a boy and Aster Eloise for a girl so far. Tentative!

For a boy, Abram and Wesley were our top contenders last time, and probably will be again this time. Owen is another possibility. DH likes Chase and Cole, but these are no-gos for me. Middle name will be either John, James, or Patrick.

For a girl, we both like Natalie, Elizabeth, and Isabelle. I also like Katarina and Felicity, but DH doesn't. For a middle name, we are considering Quinn. These will all change about a thousand times, I'm sure. Girls names are so hard for us!

  • I think we have agreed on 'Natalia Rose' for a girl. I recently met my friends brothers wife and her name is Natalia.
You know how when you meet someone and if they are rude or mean, you associate that name with the attitude ? Hopefully its not just me.
Anyways, she was just a truly kind person. The type to help anyone. Plus I had never met a Natalia before her.
I also love the name Leo for a boy but BF is not a fan.
  • DH cut some more names off our list last night...for a boy he will likely be Rory Daniel or Marshall Daniel. He like Reina Ruth for a girl but worries it's "too hipstersish" of a name (I disagree, I like it!).

I like all of those names, however I also like Isla Ruth for a girl but I worry Isla has become too popular...
