This will be my project today to find her a going home outfit! However, I feel very nervous about what to put her in, I feel like I do not know how to dress a summer baby! I know that probably sounds absolutely ridiculous but my son was born in winter which was easy, but having a newborn in upstate NY in the very beginning of June has my mind spinning! Am I the only one with this completely unrealistic fear (fear may be too strong of a word)? I am sure once she is here it will all come naturally again, but with no mom to ask advice from makes my mind race if I am doing everything right--it has been six years since I have had to do this
Ugh I'm always so behind! I'm such a slacker momma!! No name and no going home outfit. Poor kid I love all of these that have been posted though! He has lots of clothes so I might use one of those or might look for something else. I need to go back through the clothes he has
You're not a slacker! Our kid is also currently nameless and naked. Added perk - it also has no nursery. Moving sucks... as do indecisive husbands who hate every name you suggest and when they DO find a name that they like, change their mind 2 weeks later.
I love Burberry so I purchased a baby outfit from Nordstrom. But I also purchased a onsie with matching hat that has a baby elephant on it since that's our nursery theme. I'll probably being both and decide which one at the hospital.
@gauge1234 At this point, I am not above being passive aggressive!! It's crazy because I see nothing wrong with saying "that's so nice but I really wanted to pick their outfits out." But my husbands says it would not go well. I'm really close to setting my firm boundaries and letting the cards fall where they will!!
I was going to suggest agreeing to let her buy them but then an "accident" happens on her outfits. Baby's are gross after all.
That actually happened with DDs coming home outfit. Being the inexperienced parents we were, we didn't know the trick of putting a new diaper underneath before pulling out the soiled one. We just pulled the dirty diaper out and she immediately peed all over her outfit. Woops. Good thing we were smart enough to bring a couple back ups.
Team Green mama here. I was thinking buying a white onesie and accessorizing with either a pink hat or a blue hat. But that's the extent of my thought process so far...eek!

My baby only has a name because it came to me in a dream. Seriously. I told DH & he said, "great, that works." No clothes and no nursery, and no imminent plans for either. I'm getting hand-me-down crib, co-sleeper, etc., and can't put it in our room until we rearrange the furniture. Can't make a "nursery" until we do renovations. I'm refusing to so much as meet with the architect until DH empties out & rents his old place...so...at this rate we may have a 5th grader sleeping with us. Or my 9 year old DS has volunteered to have the baby sleep in his room. ON THE TOP BUNK. Thanks, buddy.

They generally say to dress them in one layer more than you. So if you are wearing shorts and a t-shirt--baby should be in long sleeves and pants. Possibly with a lightweight muslin blanket.
I guess I haven't even thought about it. With the girls we showed up in the morning when the dr made his rounds to check on them and he was like if they take all their feeds and finish them on their own and pass the car seat test on their own by 3 pm they can be released today. We had been expecting around another week for them so they literally wore the outfits they had already been wearing home. It's interesting thinking how this baby experience will most likely be a complete 180. I guess I should be on the lookout for a cute outfit this time around ; ).

That's adorable. It's the thought that counts, right?
I probably won't decide until much closer. My friend has most of my smaller boy stuff since she had her son in January. She will be giving it all back in a couple months and I will probably decide once I have it all back. My son was over 9 lbs and 22 in so he wore exactly 1 nb outfit and it only fit because it had no feet. So I will be packing a few outfits.
@Diesel615 I think I just searched Western onsies on Etsy. I haven't ordered it yet but I keep going back to it it so I just know I'm going to end up with it lol.
@Huskerfanz...super cute outfit! It looks very soft and delicate. You're right, boy or girl that would look great! I apologize the image is sideways, but you get the idea! My H and I are obsessed with elephants for this little man. It's a one piece romper, but just in case its cold I have a pair of light blue pants. However, we do have the blanket to swaddle.
I think I'm the only one who could care less. I didn't care with my son either. She will probably wear a onsie because it will be 90 degrees out

Nah. I'm good with the little hospital shirt & a diaper:)
I'm with you guys. We were Team Green with our first, and I think she wore a $1 sale onesie from Once Upon A Child to go home in. With a picture of Spider-Man and "Future Webmaster" printed on it.
I have been looking at a few on Etsy (I see some others are looking at the same/similar ones). H thinks that a going home outfit is pure silliness and he is probably right but I don't care at all. FTM here and we waited for our little princess longer than we thought we would, I am doing all of the cheesy unnecessary stuff that I can
Our daughter came home in a cute green one-piece pajama covered in raccoons. I haven't really decided on anything for this one, but I lean toward adorable-yet-nonspecific pieces that we can keep using as a regular part of the wardrobe, so it won't be anything elaborate or expensive. There's a whale onesie from Carters or Gymboree or something that I stuck on my wishlist because it's too dang cute.
We finally got rid of the guest room furniture yesterday, so I spent most of the day today cleaning out the closet in the new nursery and moving some baby stuff in there from storage. I found our first son's preemie-size going home from the NICU outfit (so tiny!) and the two very similar (but not identical) elephant print pajamas that we had in newborn and 0-3m sizes. I will be packing both of those into the diaper bag. I also found a blue sailor-themed newborn one-piece outfit that we were gifted but that our first son never actually wore, so that will be packed too as another option or in case of puke/poop.
Also, has anyone come across storage/display options for keepsake baby clothes? I'd like to preserve that little home-from-the-NICU pajama and the hospital hat for my first son and whatever we end up using as the going-home outfit for this guy.
Here is what I am looking at so far. Two pants and two hat options. Maybe I'll get a cute little sister onesie too.
I resisted some of the insanely adorable Etsy outfits that are over $50 because I agree that it's kind of a waste, but I think a personalized onesie for $10 isn't too crazy. (DH does not agree lol)

@Kballew10 & @MrsB8214 I'm in the same boat with you. My child is nameless, nurseryless and naked.
I'm sure it will all come together in the end though... or so I hope.
