Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rave: Painted the guest bath ceiling and the nursery ceiling last night. Ceilings were something we neglected when we painted (most) of the rooms in our house, but we're working back through to paint them now. Holy smokes, what a difference a fresh coat of paint makes!
Also, H got to feel baby's bed time breakdancing party last night as he was chatting with baby. I. Melted.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Painting all the things, apparently.
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Burrata and charcuterie Porchetta sandwich Truffle gnocchi Berry cobbler Awesome red wine Scotch
Good morning ladies. Thanks @MamaNicoleof3 for starting the thread this am!
How far along are you? 24 + 2
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rave: H and attended our first "preparing for baby" class. It's a three part series held at the hospital we're delivering at. It was informative for a FTM and taught by one of the NICU nurses so it was also cool to hear some of her real experiences
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Renovations start next Monday. We'll spend most of this week packing up the house....maybe that should be a rant lol
Questions? There will be demo, sanding, painting etc. Do I need to take any special precautions when I get home from work? Our master will be taped off as we're not having any work done in that part of the house
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Today: Lucky Charms and Cadbury mini eggs. Normally, some sort of paleo meal
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant: Ugh, tired... Rave: The prints I ordered off Etsy to go above the crib arrived last night. I'm really excited to have them framed & get them hung this weekend! Symptoms: The usual - heartburn, RLP, restless/crampy legs, peeing all the time.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Having random panic attacks over the fact that June really isn't that far away, & soon I will be responsible for a tiny little human. Ahhh!
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Either sushi, OR prime rib with mashed potatoes, yorkshire pudding, my Grandma's gravy, & corn on the cob.
@MamaNicoleof3: Out of curiosity, what brand of cloth diapers did you purchase? I know it seems to be pretty individual as far as preferences. I've registered for BG freetimes, a couple of grovia NB, and cotton prefolds, but I'm considering grabbing a few flip covers and bamboo charcoal inserts to round out a starter stash, then adjust the stash depending on what fits my kid best. So many to choose from! Ack!
Also, yay for a solly deal! I definitely have my eye on one of those.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Home sick today with strep throat The worst part is that I'm still up at 7am even though I have a sick day. Biggest pregnancy symptom is a sore back right now, can't complain too much.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? If you count ice cream as having calcium, I'm making sure baby gets a lot of calcium today!
Questions? I should probably call my OB and let her know I have strep and am on abx right? I think she should now I'm just way to lazy to go in for a visit if she wants to see me.
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Hmmmm this is hard! Chicken pad Thai and vegetable curry puffs from my favorite Thai place in my home town, with a huge TCBY white chocolate mousse & reese's cup shiver for desert
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: So much heartburn!! And I got short of breath just showering ha. We went on a walk last night and I had lots of pressure in my lower abdomen
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Picked out all the nursery furniture last night! We're going to wait to buy it until it gets closer because we aren't sure if we're going to be in this house still plus we will get the discount when it gets closer
Questions? Any boy names that I probably haven't already suggested to H? I'm desperate
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? This is a good question because I love food. Probably a filet mignon, crab legs, loaded baked potato, broccoli and cauliflower soaked in butter, sweet tea, and a delicious dessert probably chocolate cake. Honestly I would have my mom and H make it because they're amazing cooks!
@cdnrunning: I'd suggest also shutting the HVAC vents in the rooms you'll have work done to minimize the dust that gets distributed through the remainder of the house. Precautions I guess would depend on the work done that day--do you have lead paint that'll be disturbed? Asbestos? If you have those materials that are discovered, I'd stay away until they're abated. Otherwise from a sanding/drywall dust standpoint, as long as the areas of the house that won't be worked on are sufficiently taped off, you'll be fine.
@MrsB8214 I wish I could help with names! We really only had 2 boy name options (Jackson & Owen). I found it so tough to find names I loved that I didn't have a bad association with. The joys of being a teacher, haha!
@laurenm2123: Sorry to hear you're sick! Strep stinks. Antibiotics, schmantibiotics. Ice cream all the way! Eh, I'd err on the side of calling the office, even though I wouldn't want to leave the house either.
@mrsb8214: Hmm, I'm terrible at boy names. I'm apparently very picky as well. We like Jacob, Samuel, or Ethan, though you might have already considered them since they're fairly common.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant- I got my MIL a ticket to fly up for the baby shower last night(which she decided to come last minute so it was a RIDICULOUS price) and I sent her all the details last night after getting it, and there was no reply saying thank you or even that she got it. So I'm pretty irked right now. That and she wants to come up with her OBNOXIOUS husband right after baby is born (I put my foot down to my H about that and hopefully he'll let her know tonight he can't come). Rave- I got some sleep last night, not as much as I'd like, but more than the past couple days. Symptoms: I dry heaved a ton and threw up this morning once I got out of bed for the first time in weeks.....that sucked royally.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Nothing today
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Seafood and/or sushi.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant: woke up thinking it had to be Friday... Womp womp womp its only Tuesday. Had some sharp pains on my right side yesterday, hoping it was just indigestion? Rave: Dr appointment today & I'm getting my hair highlighted & trimmed this evening. Excited to look more refreshed
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Working...
Questions? None today
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? I'd start with sushi... and end with a warm brownie sundae topped with ice cream.. There would obviously be a lot of wine... I'm not sure what the main course would be... Tacos? Chicken pot pie? There would have to be mashed potatoes- clearly I'm thinking of a crazy buffet?!
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant/Symptom: I am so uncomfortable. My belly feels bruised, but it's not. I'm having shooting pains through my boobs again, I can't sleep. Rolling over, getting off the couch and anything that requires me to move is becoming an olympic sport these days. Rave: I'm over halfway through my 800+ page fitness & training book for studying! I've got 70 more days to prepare before I have to take the test for my certification, so I just need to finish the book and take the practice tests. FX I make this happen.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? I am having a really hard time tying the wall decor together. I feel like I don't have much of a plan for how I want it to look.
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? I can't choose just one thing... Meat lovers pizza Steak & potatoes Good red wine Whiskey
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Went to sleep last night with a very sore shoulder do to the TDAP shot I got yesterday for the baby. Needless to say I feel like I've been ran over by a mack truck this morning. And I nearly overslept and was late for work this morning..feel like a zombie
What are you doing to prepare for baby? There is a consignment sale tonight of baby stuff that I'm going to with my mom, sister, and mother in law. I was excited but now I'm kind of nervous about all of us together
Questions? My mother in law drove me and my husband to our baby appointment yesterday because we carpooled with them this weekend. We stayed with my husband's cousin in the city that was closer to the Birth Center and so my mother in law just happened to be with us cause she had the only car. So we invited her in to hear the baby's heartbeat. Didn't realize until it was too late that she and my mom were going to discuss meeting for lunch this week and she told my mom she heard the heartbeat of our baby. I feel like I've betrayed my mom now cause she didn't get to hear it...and way to repair this? I mean It's not like I was gonna say no to my MIL, she just happened to be with us is all.
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Not sure..possibly sushi, I never get tired of it. My brain isn't working this morning.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Not much, sitting in the waiting room at the OB waiting for my hour glucose challenge to be over...kinda bummed they only had the fruit punch flavored sugar drink. Only symptom is increasingly feeling like a blimp.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Trying to pick the perfect coming home outfit that it both cute and girly but usable for more than one day.
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper?
Real NY pizza and good chicken parm. Throw a bagel in there for good measure too.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Just feelin' large and in charge. Rant: I hate work. It's dumb. Rave: Nothing. It's not Monday anymore, but it doesn't feel any closer to Friday.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? House hunting on Saturday! Eating until then...
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Some sort of delicious bread (or a cream cheese bagel) as an appetizer along with a nice wine, Sushi and my mom's cheesy potato casserole for dinner with a delicious Belgian beer, and chocolate cake topped with fresh fruit and ice cream for dessert paired with Champagne. And maybe a nice rich toffee porter as an after dinner drink...
How far along are you? 26+6 today! I am both excited and not excited for 3rd tri...
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant: Being on bed rest makes constipation even more of an issue than normal. I've been drinking TONS of water, but it turns out I need to eat more leafy greens and fibre or something. I could have used an epidural for that poop. Rave: Parents are taking me out for lunch today. A friend brought me bottles and a box of baby clothes yesterday too! Symptoms: So much back pain. There are times when I feel like I'm walking around with a medicine ball on my stomach and my back just can't take it!
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Calling my insurance to see what they'll cover for the birth because I'm going to pre-register at the hospital tomorrow! YAY! After my glucose test... BOO! Also, continuing to organize the house.
Questions?
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Probably sea food like snow crab legs and scallops, etc. Definitely chocolate cake for dessert. And LOTS of wine.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: The rage beast has shown up. Also hungry and too full to eat at the same time. All the time.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? I saw this cut out of the U.S. at JoAnn's. Had to have it. Now I'm deciding what to do with it for the nursery. Thinking vinegar/steel wool/tea stain. Maybe write "explore." With chalk.
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Sushi. And a cheese plate. And classic Springfield, MO style cashew chicken. ....and maybe tater tots.
June 2016 April Siggy Challenge: Reasons my kid is crying
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rave: It's supposed to get up to 70 today! I have to go home this afternoon to meet someone to fix a lock, so I may just play hooky from work for the afternoon and go for a nice afternoon jog (or walk, more realistically
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Reading "The Happiest Baby on the Block" so that I'm not too panicked if I have a colicky baby.
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? This is so hard. Probably a really good steak with garlicky mashed potatoes and a good vegetable, and some really good bread. Assuming I could guarantee that everything would be cooked to perfection, that's what I'd go for. Dessert would be the chocolate cake that my mom used to make when we were kids.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant: Having to roll out of bed this morning and go to work. It's going to be so nice out today! Also, our Mazda dealership kind of sucks since they haven't called us to come get plates and whatnot and it's been 30 days and when DH called them yesterday, they basically hung up on him. Hopefully won't get a ticket while my car sits in the metro parking garage. Rave: Looking forward to my OB apt tomorrow to hear baby's HB and also get out of work early AND it's supposed to be almost 80! GOOD RIDDANCE WINTER! Symptoms: Umm...feeling huge is a symptom, right? Also, the usual suspects: Heartburn, back pain, rib pain. It seems like baby is squishing my stomach and not my bladder like most people. I would prefer him being on my bladder though...
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Carpet guy came yesterday to get the size of the rooms we're carpeting. DH called to get quotes on getting all of the carpet cleaned in the entire house (my cat has had a field day with our new carpet in the basement and cat urine is nearly impossible to get out - trust me, we've tried). Made a Google Doc and shared with DH to list all of the things we need to get done before baby with dates/prices/etc.
Questions? My hospital offers a couple classes I'm interested in, each being 3 hours long and $65 (for 2 people). One is Breastfeeding and one is Baby Care (like feeding, holding, wrapping, diaper change, etc.). Do you think one or both of these are worth taking? Has anyone taken classes similar to these and, if so, how did you like it?
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Probably filet mignon with a good sauce with a side of pepperoni pizza, and with red wine. Maybe some crab fritters or a bread basket with delicious butter. For dessert, chocolate lava cake with ice cream. OMG I'm hungry now.
Me - 33, DH - 33 Married - May 2014 DH - Low Count/Motility/Morph - Varicocele vein x 2 - surgery (8/11) - success! BFP - 10/10/15, EDD - 6/20/16 - It's a BOY!
With my older two (now 8 and 6), we stuck with BGs pockets and I liked them well enough. I just hated the Velcro and our water was sooo hard, so the microfiber got smelly really quickly and I was stripping them all the time. For this one, I've gotten some of the clearanced BG 4.0s with snaps from cotton babies, some FBs from the Costco site (7 dipes, inserts, replacement elastics and a travel wet bag for $80), and have gotten some new condition Alva covers with the 5-layer charcoal inserts. I didn't start CDing with our older two until they were about 2 months, simply because they didn't fit well, and adding laundry on top of the transition to adding a person to our family wasn't something I was up for
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant: Woke up last night in a panic about some dumb shit. Woke up DH and he got mad at me and I didn't get back to sleep. Rave: Had OB appointment yesterday and passed my glucose test. Baby was measuring 29 weeks based on fundal height. Symptoms: not too much, really. Lots of movement super low.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Working
Questions? Anyone else getting the majority of their movement super low? I think LO might me breech and basically all I'm feeling is little feet about 6 inches below my belly button.
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Herb encrusted prime rib, medium rare, with au jus and lots of creamy horseradish, grilled zucchini, smoked gouda mac N cheese, a salad, some good banana pudding and a draft beer. And a coke.
@laurenm2123 oh no! Sorry to hear about your throat! Pregnancy + infection is terrible- and so common. @Diesel615 that's really frustrating about your MIL. @mrsschmity I too am so tired of feeling uncomfortable. If it's not one thing, it's another. @Sgoldberg247 good luck with your glucose test. @candicek15 I can definitely relate to the constipation woes and I'm not on bedrest. I eat loads of fibre so I really don't think that's the issue... it's so frustrating! Enjoy your lunch, anyway!
How far along are you? 24w3d
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant/symptoms: heartburn this morning plus a mild head cold (not mild enough but nothing like the sinus infection I had in Jan). Yesterday I was nauseated from 3pm onward. It was so discouraging and upsetting. I don't know why my nausea is so much worse with this pregnancy than with my last one. It definitely reaffirms my desire to stop at 2 kids. Not feeling very ravey but it's my birthday week and I'm sure once my cold is a bit better I'll feel more cheery. The weather here is nice and warm today! The parka is off!
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Oh my... frozen mocha cheesecake for dessert, definitely beer, probably poutine, and then maybe really stellar fake chicken for the main? I know that probably sounds gross to non-vegetarians and I really don't often eat processed soy mock meat but once in awhile, I love some BBQ proteiny goodness. Maybe a margarita on the side... everyone's ideas sound good though.
@BakerBird525- it's just a superficial clot on the inside of my knee. I've been wearing thigh high compression stockings to combat it- no biggie, I'm just WAY more aware of the potential side effects now
@laurenm2123 oh no! I'm sorry to hear about your throat! @Diesel615 Ugh, your MIL. @crdo - That is adorable! I love it when our baby moves when H talks to her. It is starting to really feel "real" so to speak. @mrsschmity I'm sorry you are so uncomfortable. What fitness training course are you taking? I always wanted to learn how to teach spin. @Sgoldberg247 good luck with your glucose test!!! @dennyandlee - Lately, baby has been kicking low for me too. Maybe they are just changing positions here and there. @smlmom - Happy birthday week! What are you doing the day of?
How far along are you? 26 w, 6 d
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Feeling ok for the most part.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? We will put the rocker together this weekend and hopefully finish up our bathroom remodel as well (the main stuff...we'll still need to do nits and decorative stuff here and there).
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? All the gluten if it is my last supper. Mac'n'cheese and a really great sub, etc.
@dennyandlee I feel movement low as well - at my 20 week A/S baby was breech. the highest I've felt kicks is right around my belly button, but for the most part they are lower... so baby is either still breech, or has some seriously intense punches going on!
@sgoldberg247 fingers crossed you pass your glucose test!
@candicek15 hope you're hanging in there on bed rest!!!
I'm with the rest of you ladies excited for the warm weather! I didn't want to come into the office today!! And its going to be over 70 tomorrow, wish I could play hooky & walk on the beach!
@mkemommy I am taking a course to become certified in personal training. The one I'm going through is called ISSA (International Sports Sciences Association). If you want to get your spin cert, I think you should go for it!
@mkemommy Thanks! It's on Thursday... coming to work (but hubby's doing daycare drop-off), having a treat for lunch, and going out for dinner while my BIL hangs out with my daughter (I promised them both cupcakes). My dad happens to be in town and is picking me up from work. "My dad is picking me up from high school"- words you don't expect to say as a Vice Principal.
I now have a RAVE! I was just inspecting a Grade 12 English class and one of our sweet Mexican Grade 12 students whispered "Happy International Women's Day!" Totally melted my heart.
@hockeyfan42 pictures of your US cutout once you’re done! I’m
curious to see what you mean!
How far along are you? 27w1d
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant - getting out of the shower yesterday I noticed stretch marks ALL over my butt. I was already having a super stressful day so I just burst into tears. H thought I was nuts. Symptoms - stretch marks apparently, and I messed up my back trying to help my H move furniture this morning. fml.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Moved all of the old furniture from the nursery into the garage so it can get picked up by habitat for humanity today. I'm going to measure in there and get the remaining crap out so I can order paint and go ahead and get going on that.
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Chef's tasting menu at my favorite restaurant downtown with wine pairings. If this is my last supper, I am going to let it drag on for as long as possible and those tasting menus with drink pairings take FOREVER
Questions? Anyone else getting the majority of their movement super low? I think LO might me breech and basically all I'm feeling is little feet about 6 inches below my belly button.
@dennyandlee that is exactly what my little guy is doing. I had my anatomy scan on February 19th and March 4th (our baby is incredibly stubborn and doesn't like to cooperate with the paparazzi, ie sonographer, so we had to go back) and he is most assuredly breech and doesn't feel like moving. He likes to take his little tootsies and kick the crap out of my poor cervix. Our ob said no worries tho, he's got plenty of time to rotate.
How far along are you? 25 weeks!
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant: I'm most definitely sick and I have a terrible feeling it's pneumonia. I had what I thought was a cold 2 weeks ago, it lasted about a week and seemed to die down, but now my cough is waaaay worse and it hurts in my chest to breathe. Also, because I'm the head of payroll and we have to finalize today, I'm stuck at work Rave: its absolutely gorgeous outside!! Symptoms: the usual preggie stuff, backache, crotch pain, heartburn, plus the cough and can't breath.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? The flooring is finally done so we can start putting together the furniture and I can sit in his room and play with the clothes I already have!
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Um probably a 6 foot deli sub, some coffee, a margarita, and about 8 packs of oreos. Oh and doritos...
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant: got kicked out of our meeting because somehow there were 4 meetings scheduled at once.. annoying. Rave: free lunch today! Symptoms: "sprouting" as my coworker told me this morning and lots of kicks this morning. Getting harder to get up off the couch/bed and lift DS
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Trying to be more active with the nice weather we're having!
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Oh geez, asking a pregnant lady to pick a meal.. There would have to be some steak, french onion soup, cheese curds, my pretzel beer cake with peanut butter and chocolate frosting, ice cream, a margarita... and I'm sure I'm missing a lot
@crdo - That is so cute that DH had his bonding time with baby! So precious @cdnrunning - good luck with your renovations! @deepaddy24 - I keep freaking out, but then telling myself at least we have off during the warm summer months! @laurenm2123 - so sorry you have strep! I guess it wouldn't hurt to call the nurse's line and give them a heads up? @diesel615 - I saw that about your MIL! I would definitely have DH say neither of you feel comfortable with them visiting once the baby is born. His family, his deal! @mrsschmity - I'm sorry you're so uncomfortable Good luck with your personal training test at least! @kbequette08 - That's tough.. can you invite your mom to the next appointment? I know my mom would be the exact same way. Best option is to do something that would make her feel more involved or "one-up" your MIL. @sgoldberg247 and @candicek15 - good luck with your glucose tests! @kballew10 - Good luck with house hunting this weekend! @BakerBird525 - We took a breastfeeding class and I thought it was great. Although I will say a lot of it I already read online so it's up to you. I'd say for holding/diaper changing/etc a lot of that is shown during breastfeeding class (at least holds for the baby during feeding) and diaper changing the nurses normally show you at the hospital. I will say after taking all those classes, I threw my hands up when DS was born and said I don't remember what to do. The nurses were so helpful giving me a refresher. So those classes don't seem as necessary to me anymore. @smlmom - Happy birth week @chelseay416 - Strech marks are sneaky bastards. I thought I was in the clear with DS and turned around one morning and boom.. Same as you. Luckily I haven't gotten any new stretch marks this time around.. yet.
Great deals! Thanks for the info. As a FTM, I'll admit I get a little overwhelmed analyzing all the choices and permutations of what one can use when CDing, but I guess I just have to narrow down as much as I can and then just pick something. Helps to hear from expert mamas
@dennyandle: I feel lots of kicks down low, too. Sometimes baby even squishes themselves down in the bottom of my uterus, and I get a lot of pressure just on top of my bladder. It's to the point where I can easily tell "oh, there's your back, that's your bum, there's a leg". Weird.
@dennyandlee I was since I started feeling movement around 15 weeks- he was SO low. More recently though, I think he's finally moving up in the world and it's more around my belly button.
@chelseay416 I had a similar stretch mark discovery the other day. Definitely some on my butt and I don't think I had them last time around. Boooo. Oh well, I honestly used to have really dark ugly stretch marks on my thighs post puberty so these are a lot less visible... Solidarity!
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant: It's only Tuesday. Rave: It's raining! It's pouring! I'm so happy! Symptoms: Maybe it's sciatica, I'm not too sure, but my tailbone is killing me. Only 4 months left...
What are you doing to prepare for baby? I can't stop shopping for teeny tiny clothes now thanks to the thread about the going home outfit. I get paid next week and I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little worried about spending my whole paycheck on baby clothes.
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? My husband only cooks 3ish times a year, but when he does it is amazing! So I would have him make his spaghetti, a steak, mashed potatoes, rice pilaf, with a good Tempranillo or Malbec, followed by Haagen Dazs peanut butter pie ice cream and taro frozen yogurt.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant: Salt Lake City airport shut down all the runways as we were descending last night on our first flight (connecting there with little time to spare of course) so the entire evening of flying was delayed and we didn't get home to Northern New Mexico until 2 a.m. after being on a ski trip in Canada for over a week! Nothing got unpacked and we only got 3 hours of sleep- then our 19 month old DS started his first day at Montessori school today! At least it was DH that dropped him off and not me. Lots of crying and asking for Daddy when he left I hope the little buddy gets adjusted and starts having fun really soon this week.
Rave: Sleeping, if only for a few hours, in my own bed! It feels good to be home from vacation! It was great to get away and good to come back!
Symptoms: Extreme mint cravings (especially mentos gum and candy canes.) Back pain from sitting on airplanes with a 22lb babe-in-arms. I have nothing to complain about- I'm healthy and happy and thank gawd I didn't give birth in Canada (/sarcasm) there was no chance I was having this guy at 24 weeks!
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Considering a co-sleeping piece of furniture- with our first son he slept in bed with us from day one. Now there is a toddler to possibly contend with in the family bed and I want new baby boy to be protected in bed.
GTKY: SUSHI SUSHI SUSHI SUSHI SUSHI SUSHI SUSHI SUSHI SUSHI SUSHI SUSHI SUSHI + Indian. Like super spicy Gobi Aloo with pulau rice.
@SMLmom Happy International Women's Day indeed!! The focus is "Pledge For Parity" What a bright young student to acknowledge this day as well! Related to International awareness and culture: I'm really excited about my son starting at this new school today- they spend 5 hours a day speaking Spanish. I have a feeling this is a really good start for him in life!
@cdnrunning - We have been renovating a guest house! It's exciting and frustrating- especially when I was reassured that the guest house would be done in time for the baby... that baby is now 19 months old! Maybe in time for this baby...
@laurenm2123 - I am so sorry that you are sick. I hate being sick any time- but during pregnancy? That can't be easy to work with!
@diesel615 - Why do people do this? I said I wanted NO ONE to come to the hospital (I had a c-section and could not leave for 4 days) but DH's mom came anyway- she then bragged to my aunt that she knew i didn't want anyone there but they were going to butt in no matter what. Who the f*ck does she think she is? These people are the worst.
@mrsschmity - My personal training involves placing a fitbit on my arm each day- and most of the time I don't even accomplish that step. I couldn't even think of studying during pregnancy so kudos to you!
@kbequette08 - I have a home doppler and it was very inexpensive online. If you can, take her to the next appointment, or order on of the home dopplers and have her come to a special screening of babe's heartbeat!
@BakerBird525 - Breastfeeding isn't easy for every mom- so get a head start on learning about it now if you can! You can go to some La Leche League meetings in your area- those are free and happen usually once a month! NOTE: LLL has some strong ideas about co-sleeping being the best and Exclusively Breast Feeding is THE WAY- don't get turned off if it's not all for you- take what you need from it- especially the troubleshooting tips from new & experienced moms. I like the approach that "the best sleep-setup is the one where the most members of the family get the most sleep." I think that the best way to breastfeed is exactly how you feel like breastfeeding. It's no one else's business AT ALL! I would also take a baby 101 class- if only to ensure your partner knows all the basics. I am the oldest of 4 kids and was also an au pair in my early 20's so- babycare is a no-brainer for me- but DH had no experience!
@chelseay416 - I got some on my hips but they turned silvery/clear after a year. At 37 years old you don't wear a lot that reveals stretch marks, except a swim suit and when you look your worst is when your baby is super new and adorable- so no one is looking at you anyway!!!! Some people get stretch marks, some don't. It's less magic and more genetics. The very best approach is "don't anticipate, just participate." Then you don't needlessly worry.

Questions?
Nope
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper?
probably a massive seafood feast with a baked potato and salad
Rant/Rave/Symptoms:
Rave: Painted the guest bath ceiling and the nursery ceiling last night.
Burrata and charcuterie
Porchetta sandwich
Truffle gnocchi
Berry cobbler
Awesome red wine
Scotch
How far along are you?

Rant/Rave/Symptoms:
Rave: H and attended our first "preparing for baby" class.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms:
Rant: Ugh, tired...
SaveSave
Also, yay for a solly deal! I definitely have my eye on one of those.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Home sick today with strep throat
What are you doing to prepare for baby? If you count ice cream as having calcium, I'm making sure baby gets a lot of calcium today!
Questions? I should probably call my OB and let her know I have strep and am on abx right? I think she should now I'm just way to lazy to go in for a visit if she wants to see me.
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Hmmmm this is hard! Chicken pad Thai and vegetable curry puffs from my favorite Thai place in my home town, with a huge TCBY white chocolate mousse & reese's cup shiver for desert
Baby #2 Due 3/7/20
Baby #2 Due 3/7/20
Yay for renos!

@DeePaddy24: Exciting you got your prints!!

Rant/Rave/Symptoms:
Rant/Symptom: I am so uncomfortable.
Meat lovers pizza
Steak & potatoes
Good red wine
Whiskey
How far along are you?
And I nearly overslept and was late for work this morning..feel like a zombie
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Went to sleep last night with a very sore shoulder do to the TDAP shot I got yesterday for the baby. Needless to say I feel like I've been ran over by a mack truck this morning.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms:
Not much, sitting in the waiting room at the OB waiting for my hour glucose challenge to be over...kinda bummed they only had the fruit punch flavored sugar drink. Only symptom is increasingly feeling like a blimp.
What are you doing to prepare for baby?
Trying to pick the perfect coming home outfit that it both cute and girly but usable for more than one day.
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper?
Rant/Rave/Symptoms:
Rant: Being on bed rest makes constipation even more of an issue than normal.
@MamaNicoleof3 : A blood clot? Are you ok?!
@laurenm2123 : Hope the meds kick in fast and you feel better soon!
@Sgoldberg247 : GL with the glucose challenge!
How far along are you? 25w1d

And a coke.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms:
Rant/symptoms: heartburn this morning plus a mild head cold (not mild enough but nothing like the sinus infection I had in Jan).
@Diesel615 Ugh, your MIL.
@crdo - That is adorable! I love it when our baby moves when H talks to her.
@mrsschmity I'm sorry you are so uncomfortable.
@SMLmom happy birthday week!
I now have a RAVE! I was just inspecting a Grade 12 English class and one of our sweet Mexican Grade 12 students whispered "Happy International Women's Day!" Totally melted my heart.
@hockeyfan42 pictures of your US cutout once you’re done! I’m curious to see what you mean!
25 weeks!
Rave: its absolutely gorgeous outside!! Symptoms: the usual preggie stuff, backache, crotch pain, heartburn, plus the cough and can't breath.
Also, because I'm the head of payroll and we have to finalize today, I'm stuck at work
What are you doing to prepare for baby? The flooring is finally done so we can start putting together the furniture and I can sit in his room and play with the clothes I already have!
GTKY: What would you have for your last supper? Um probably a 6 foot deli sub, some coffee, a margarita, and about 8 packs of oreos. Oh and doritos...
I'm really hungry now...
So precious
@cdnrunning - good luck with your renovations!
@mrsschmity - I'm sorry you're so uncomfortable
@smlmom - Happy birth week
@chelseay416 - Strech marks are sneaky bastards. I thought I was in the clear with DS and turned around one morning and boom.. Same as you. Luckily I haven't gotten any new stretch marks this time around.. yet.
Weird.
@SMLmom: Woohoo, bday week!
24+4
Rant/Rave/Symptoms:
Rant: It's only Tuesday.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms:
Rant: Salt Lake City airport shut down all the runways as we were descending last night on our first flight (connecting there with little time to spare of course) so the entire evening of flying was delayed and we didn't get home to Northern New Mexico until 2 a.m. after being on a ski trip in Canada for over a week! Nothing got unpacked and we only got 3 hours of sleep- then our 19 month old DS started his first day at Montessori school today! At least it was DH that dropped him off and not me. Lots of crying and asking for Daddy when he left
@crdo - I wish my baby would kick on command
