Going home outfit

Re: Going home outfit

  • I read that you want to dress newborns in something that won't irritate the cord stump. Is this true? I assumed I would put him in a onsie. but will that rub too much? I have an infant sleep gown, would that be better?

I'm in Arizona, so May temps will be 90-100.

We're getting a onesie that has snaps down the middle of the front so that hopefully it won't interfere too much.I don't think a onesie would be too much of an issue though. Everyone I know of has brought their babies home in regular onesies.
  • We brought DS home in a onsie with little pants, it was not a problem. Depending on the weather I will use the same
outfit or a long sleeve zip onesie.
  • No going home outfit here. We are having twins so chances of them being able to 0-3 month things is slim, even if they are full term (they won't let me go beyond 38 weeks). The other twin moms I know have given us their preemie lending closet which we will pull from until they are big enough to wear their other things, but we'll likely take them home from the hospital in whatever the hospital puts them in.
  • @khochanadel LOVE!  Where did you get those?!  I live in Denver now, so it's not like I can just head on over to the Kansas Sampler and go crazy. :(  Although my Mom does still have my Royals hat I wore in the 80's, thank goodness. :)

  • I got them at Kansas Sampler when we were in KC last. The stitched baseball onesies I did myself with some red yarn.

We won't be using them as going home outfits, though. I'm just gonna use whatever the hospital provides and have one less thing to worry about.
  • @khochanadel Wonderful idea stitching the red yourself!  I guess I'll have to send some money to my girlfriends and they can go raid Kansas Sampler for me.

Regular onsie is fine. I wouldn't do a sleep gown b/c you would have to bunch it up to be able to buckle the car seat.
  • TB mobile didnt feel my picture warranted a caption apparently. Anyway, this is on the short list...gotta start them on the right track after all...
  • @Aquinna82 haha! Does doggie agree that mom's the boss too?
  • My mother wanted to get the baby's going home outfit- she's very excited about her first granddaughter. She ordered 2 newborn outfits on etsy that I can't wait to see(she planned on giving them to me at the baby shower). I may also need to buy a premie outfit but mentally I can't even go there. I had been looking through newborn outfits with my mother for awhile so I think it will be something like this:

YUP!!  Everyone does.  Easier that way.
  • My husband purchased these matching outfits for himself and the baby:

    Baby Bodysuit
Gun Keyhole DT amp Creed T-Shirt
We're naming him Roland after the Dark Tower's main character, so I guess it fits, but he is way more excited about these outfits than I am.

  • So is it pretty safe to go with a newborn size? I'm worried my baby will be big! Is anyone else thinking that - should I be buying two going home outfits, one newborn and one 0-3 mos, and bringing both to the hospital?!

  • Found this on Etsy... haven't ordered it yet... but I'm obsessed with it <3 ... so payday I'm definitely putting in my order.
I think I'm going with this too. So cute!!!!

OMG! I love this. Please don't be upset but I must order this as well.
  • My little one will hopefully come home in this Ralph Lauren coverall onesie with a light pink matching hat.

  • This baby has measured smaller every step of the way. So I've invested in plenty of NB things. I have lots of comfy sleepers and onesies and a few pull on pants. I'll pick a sleeper or a knit outfit from what we have.
