@DobbysSock Yes. And I think they named their second daughter Delta. After a Delta Force joke?
**stuck in the box** Delta definitely isn't my style, but I feel like it's a way better choice for a little girl than Lincoln! I googled this because I wasn't sure what Delta Force was, and looks like you're right (or at least that's the story Dax has shared on talk shows). Their friend was teasing them about how masculine the name Lincoln is and suggesting baby names - navy seal, delta force, etc. and then they decided Delta Bell Shepard was a good name..
I get irrationally disappointed when a celebrity I like (Kristin Bell, mostly, I'm kind of indifferent to Dax Shepard) gives their child a bad name, and irrationally excited when they pick a normal, nice name.
Kind of like Mila and Ashton naming their daughter Wyatt? I was so looking forward to seeing what they were going to pick for a name, and when it was finally announced, I got confused and thought maybe I misunderstood and they actually had a boy, then realized I was right the first time and it was a girl....so, I just sat there like.......
@PhoebeJune1984 exactly. I was so disappointed in Mila as she has always struck me as such a cool person. Not that picking a name I hate means you're not cool... I'm just a judgy bitch in my own head when it comes to naming babies.
(for the record in real life I keep my mouth shut unless asked to be brutally honest, and although I have several friends who have named their babies things I hate, I still love them and love their kids, so logically I know a great person can pick a name I think is awful. But I hold a grudge against celebrities.)
I rejoiced when Scarlett Johannson named her daughter Rose Dorothy and Ryan Gosling/Eva Mendez named their daughter Esmerelda. This! This is how you name a child!!!!!!
@blissylissy86 I'm actually good until I have to do a still born or infant. The older ones are really interesting. You can tell a lot about a person from their obit. Some had some really interesting lives. Some die with no one. I'm a history buff so that may be why those don't affect me as much.
We are currently thinking about Alice, but it seems to be growing in popularity and we were hoping for a less popular, but easy to pronounce name. Thoughts?
Elise? It may be gaining popularity too. I just like it.
I think Elise is a great choice, mostly because it's my middle name, I'm bias. Chelsie is also a good one.

@MDmomma1217 Joining the name board after a long hiatus...but wanted to share that my friend & her older sister have the same middle name. I saw it as a little unoriginal maybe? But that could also be because they're first names are really close too.
I'd like some input. Background, my top name for a boy before DD was born was Ezra. We ended up naming our daughter Aria. No one we know watches PLL, but I do, so now I'm trying to brainstorm other names bc I don't want anyone to think I named my children after a show. Problem is, Ezra is now the only name DH likes.
So 1. Should a tv show influence the names I like for my child? I love Ezra for the book of the bible, the way it looks written, and how it sounds with our last name. 2. Any suggestions for boy names similar in taste to Ezra? I've come up empty. Middle name will be James, it's the only male family name we like.
I don't care if names are gaining popularity, I care more about name meanings. Also, traditional spelling all the way.
@jenkeale - I would stick with the name if you both like and agree on it. I don't think it matters that both names are from a tv show at all. They will be your kids' names forever versus a tv show that is probably close to ending. Btw, I really like both names

Sorry so long!
HAHA! What about Elias?
I think that it really depends on how popular the show is. My friend had a Ryan and then had a Seth, and it was right in the thick of The OC craze. Funny thing, is she didn't even watch the show, so she had no idea that they were the two main characters.....but everyone else did. So when she became pregnant again, it was a running joke that if it was a girl, she should be named Marissa (her SIL was already sporting the name Summer). She ended up having another boy, but made sure to check the cast list of The OC before naming him.

Thanks for the feedback! I don't really have an idea of how popular the show is, I think it's probably popular among a younger generation. But it will probably be a distant memory by the time my kids are in school.
I do love Asher and have never considered it. I'll have to run it by DH.
I like Ezra a lot too. And there are way worse characters for people to think you named your daughter for than Aria Stark!
On my girl list was Imogen for Imogen Cunningham, who is one of my favorite photographers. My husband really hates it on the grounds that everyone would always associate it with Imogen Heap and that scene in OC where they all shoot each other (and the SNL skit that parodied the scene later). I think he's crazy, but since we're having a boy Imogen will likely not be high enough on the list to have the fight if we have a girl down the road.
I wouldn't worry about a character on PLL. It's not a mainstream celebrity name or anything. Only a targeted group of people our age will have the association. The rest would be HS/MS aged kids, and who cares...no offense to them. But they also associate Harry with Harry Styles, so, they can't be counted on for this anyway!
Lots of people wouldn't think of it (like me). And this show can't have more than a couple years left in it, right? The only thing I do know about it is there was a time jump from HS to them being older...that usually signals the end of a show like that.
@jenkeale - I think Ezra is a great name. My SIL named her daughter Emma back in 2004 when Friends was popular (along with many other people!).
@jlgriff11 - what a cool job! I agree that you can tell a lot about a person by reading an obit. I actually like to read them but more because I'm a nurse and I feel sad when one of my former patients dies and I don't find out til much later.
@jenkeale I love the name Ezra, it would be one of our top names if a family friend hadn't used it recently. As far as the PLL connection, people you know now may bring it up (and you can shut them down and tell them to mind their own business) but I don't see it being an issue for your kids later if that's the main concern. But if you want to avoid it, there are similar names to consider, a lot of which PPs already mentioned. I like Elijah, Ari, and Asher as alternatives.
ETA OBVIOUSLY YOU WOULDN'T USE ARI SINCE HER NAME IS ARIA. Please excuse my ridiculous pregnancy brain haha.
Today's obit name of the day: Dylin. Like, Dylan, only with an i. It was a grandchilds name, so idk if it's a boy or girl.
Old name of the day: One of my 80 year old obits was born to a lady named Rubedean.
Oh! And I wanted to add I'm not always against unusual names. A girl in high school named Summer had two girls and the oldest is Soleil. Normally I'd be side eying it but I actually really like it and it's appropriate, and it doesn't seem like have had any issues with it. Her youngest is Linleigh and I like that too. I guess it just depends on the person.
Thanks ladies. I am relieved to hear I was giving the show too much thought because I really do love Ezra. I'm also thankful to have gotten more boy names to consider as back up. I think I like Asher and Ezekiel the most.
@jenkeale Ezra is a pretty name without worrying about the association. If your circle tends to be slightly older than the PLL audience (Extra points if also religious for bible association) then you shouldn't have any issues with that. I feel like PLL did the name a small favor by taking one that was slightly aged and breathing new life into it, making it fashionable again. You won't see that happen with Gertrude or Irving. It is both trendy and dated.
I would hit the pause button on Ezekiel, personally... Think hard about that one. It will be a mouthful for a kid to learn to say and especially hard to learn to write/spell in PreK. Possible nickname is E-Z, which just sounds awful to me, but plausible for a rebelling teen to love. That could happen with Ezra as well, but is less likely because of the pronunciation.
@jenkeale I absolutely adore the name Ezra. I was pushing hard for it when we found out we were having a boy, DH was not convinced lol @taboullio84 I think the name Genesis is so fun and cute! My cousin almost was a Genesis, but it just didn't fit her. So she got Trinity instead. I have loved it ever since!

We have had our girl name picked out for awhile, but I need help with a middle name! I really like Elise Aurora but our last initial is R. So.. EAR. Anyone think that is a big deal?

I don't think so. There are way worse things it could spell. I love Elise.
I think we just decided our name... We had a boy name picked out, ready to go but our little bundle is a lady! So I think we have decided on Arwyn Elizabeth A!

Nah, if it was A.S.S or K.K.K I'd say change it but otherwise I wouldn't worry...

This. My friend growing up was ARM. But once she got married, her initials didn't spell anything. My initials were ASR before I got married, and now I am ASK. Doesn't bother me, as most people don't know my middle name.
Like @PinkLady2015 mentioned, if it was ASS or KKK, or if you were planning on naming your child Catherine Ursula Nadine Thomas.....then I would change it. My husband's cousin's initials are KKK...and how they didn't notice that when they were naming her, is beyond me.....

Ezekiel is only 7 letters (3 of which are E). There are many longer names to learn how to spell. My daughter's is 9 letters (8 unique letters) and I would not let the challenge of learning it cause hesitation in choosing a name if you really like it. He will figure it out and why does it matter exactly how young? It may take a little while to be able to pronounce it, but won't be an issue by the time he's starting preschool.

If you're asking, it's something that may bug you later down the road. I don't think there's anything terribly wrong with it, but I don't think I would choose a name realizing the initials spelled something kind of odd like that. If you really love the name though, it's nothing worth worrying about.
I am 20 weeks plus 5 and we found out we are having a girl we have already decided her name will be Naomi Rae. My husband and I both love it and we can't agree on any other names

Just take note though, that there is a good chance that eventually if she gets married, and decides to take her husbands last name, it won't matter anyway.....the "R" will disappear (unless her husbands last name starts with "R'')
