Has anyone tried an Ellaroo wrap? Or other suggestions for a woven wrap for about $100 that is not too heavy to wear in the summer.

Look for a "poppable" carry. You can search on YouTube. That way you can partially wrap it at home and then just pop them in when you get out of the car.

That's the the big reason I ditched the moby last time. I got a k'tan instead and love it.

I haven't. But get on the baby wearing on a budget Facebook page. All wraps and carriers are 100 or less and most are broken in. You can ask questions too.

Hmmm...not sure if I would be considered an old pro or a newbie. I've used carriers for 3 of my 4, but only have experience with 2 kinds, and I'm not even sure what style one of them was! I think it was a sling, but it doesn't look like any of the pics I've seen of rings slings. Maybe an older style? In any case, that's what I had for DD2, and I loved it! Unfortunately, I had only borrowed it from a friend, and it was gone when DS1 was born. That same friend made me a Moby style wrap for a birthday present when DS1 was about 4 months old. I have loved it every bit as much as the other one. I used it well over a year with him, and asked my friend to make me a second one as I found I was wearing DS2 so much I didn't have enough time to wash it in between uses!

@Cook3133, I found that none of the material that is actually in contact with LO ever touches the ground while I'm wrapping it. I know it's easier said than done with 4 kids, but maybe try to watch and see if that is the case for you the next time you put it on? It may help put your mind at ease. Alternatively, you could try to leave the ends on the seat of your car while wrapping once you get there. I did that a couple of times to keep my wrap out of the snow/slush. Otherwise, I agree with PP's...wrap before you go and put your coat on over it, and the baby will get it way dirtier than dry pavement will!

Just fold up a receiving blanket and put in under them. You can find a video tutorial on YouTube. I use my Tula all the time without an insert.

I'll try it again, @Pontot31! Last time I tried, he seemed uncomfortable but he's bigger now, so maybe the blanket trick will work. Thanks!

My husband loves the Lillebaby. I am growing fond of my Innootech, which is just a big long piece of breathable cotton I got on Amazon. It's cheaper and thinner than the Moby, which is super helpful in our warm Miami weather. BB takes all of her daytime naps in it now and it's how I work from home!

I just bought a pre-loved yaro for $100. It's linen and the girl said that is would be good for warmer weather. Linen actually gets stronger when it's damp. So you may want to look into linen. There may be a local baby wearing bst in your area too. The bst for my area is run by the same girls that run the baby wearing group.

LO is 11 weeks and we just got our Tula in a couple of weeks ago. We love it! I also have an Oscha woven wrap as well that we used when she was a newborn. I love baby wearing, if she's even a little bit fussy I just wear her and she's asleep within minutes. I'm actually going to the BWI meeting this Saturday to see if I have my Tula fitted correctly. She's in it now and snoozing away!

Just got my tula ring sling this week! After a wash, some YouTube vids and some practice, I think I got the hang of it! Addy was quite pleased to be in it as well! She likes having the freedom to hold her head up and look all around, I figured that was the problem with the moby (it snuggles her in too deep).

Question for those of you that wear your babies while out and about: do you bring a stroller along too? We took our first not-grocery-store trip out last week to the mall, in her stroller, she was okay but seemed kind of bored. I'd love to wear her next time but worried I'll need to take breaks, or she'll get fussy and I'll have to walk a crying kiddo all the way back to the car. But I feel like pushing along an empty stroller partially defeats the purpose?

Most of the time I am baby wearing I do not bring the stroller, but if I know we are going to be out for a while I may leave it in the trunk just in case I decided to use it.

If I'm going somewhere like the zoo I take the stroller too, usually to keep the diaper bag and stuff in. And to have another place to put them since trips like that take a few hours.
Otherwise I just baby wear. Both my kids have always been super content in a wrap, sling or carrier. They either look around or sleep.
I don't normally need to take breaks. Even when I would wear my daughter as a toddler. As long as you have a comfy carrier it shouldn't be an issue for you.

Thanks so much for your suggestion and the link to that site. I didn't think there was one near me, but there is and I'm excited to go and see if someone can teach me how to use my moby wrap I've had since before he was born. It'll be nice to branch out from the ergo 360.

I usually just wear my daughter. If she got fussy in the stroller you'd have to haul a crying baby around too.

If your LO has good enough head support you can put them in seat portion and keep a hand on them if you need a break.

I have done several mall trips with the stroller and wrap. He always does better in the wrap he looks around until he snuggles up and naps. I also like that I can give him a bottle while walking

We haven't taken the stroller anywhere. Either me or my husband wears her. We've figured out how to nurse while wearing too, so it's much easier to nurse her in the wrap/ergo/sling if I need to. The sling seems to be the easiest to nurse her in.

@TacoSarah if you aren't already part of it, you might like the Tula Love group on Facebook. I joined it. Still don't feel confident enough to wear LO in the Tula (even with the blanket trick) until he's bigger, so I still use the Moby.

Had to share, I went out to my Dads hay field today to play around on the ATV with my 4 boys and when I got there I realized I forgot my carrier!! So I totally rednecked a carrier out of a flannel shirt

worked pretty good! Baby was happy and slept the entire time we were out there!

Haha I'm such a baby a baby wearer, I've only used my awesome bob jogger once. I carry baby in my moby wrap or dad's ergobaby. Both afford me comfortable pressure on my back and shoulders. I wash clothes, carry in groceries, eat 8 lbs of craw crawdads etc. wearing baby. Baby and I get exercise walking up and down the stairs in the moby at lake merrit here in Oakland, CA. Last week I watched a mother stuck breastfeeding with one of those mommy bibs, holding down a stroller and her toddler. Poor thing couldn't take advantage of family boarding. Meanwhile I had baby strapped to me in the ergobaby having a breast buffet under my big wrap sweater from cottonon with his diaper bag on my back and our lunch in hand preboarding the plane. (We rented a car seat and rental car when we landed. BTW baby did great flying). It made me feel grateful for the basics.

Man I am still so so intimidated by baby wearing. I used to be able to Moby DD but now she gets more amped up in it as she just wants to look around the whole time- time to switch to the hug hold ( thanks for @rachswi for mentioning in your post!).

I have a ring sling...can't remember brand off the top of my head but I tried that once an epically failed. Past that DH has the chicco carrier which DD loves but if I try to use it she gets all pissy. In general I think it's time to regroup and have a baby wear boot camp day with DH and figure it out. We have no local chapters so it's a lot of YouTube videos over here.

For those with the ergo 360 and infant insert. When did you ditch the insert and just use the little pillow? I am petrified of doing something bad for LOs hips.

I ditched it around 2.5-3 months. She was a little over 11 pounds. I felt like I couldn't get her feet right in the insert at that point. As long as you make an M (butt lower than knees) with her legs in the ergo, her hips will be fine.

ETA: here is a link to an article and an image to help explain how to position her legs to prevent hip issues. The M position is used for wrapping and slings too. Always make sure their weight is on their bum.

I believe the studies have shown that if your child does not already have issues with hip displasia, wearing them front facing or in a carrier with a narrower crotch does not cause problems. Older studies showed a correlation, but more recent studies have disproven the connection.

That makes sense. Though I think in general for their comfort, the wider seat is better. Having their legs hang and dangle with the narrower seat looks so uncomfortable!

I agree. It does not seem very comfortable. Some babies though will take the less comfortable seat in exchange for being able to see things when they're front facing. My DD1 was worn exclusively in narrow seated carriers (That was a decade ago and I don't know if they even had wide seat carriers back then.) and she loved being worn facing out. She was not a fan of facing inwards though.

We own a piece of crap stroller that has been used twice but have two Tulas in heavy rotation. My full wc Tula is likely the best baby investment ever. Essential w 3 kids.

So we're getting a lovely tax return thanks to Zeke. I'm wanting to take part of it to buy a structured carrier that will allow me to wear Zeke on my back since I don't know how much longer I'll be able to hold him on my front thanks to having big boobs.

I've narrowed it down to a lillebaby or a Tula. What's your preference? I'm kind of leaning toward the lillebaby since I can face him outward when he's on my front (unless I can do that with a Tula too?). But I like the patterns Tula has better

We have the Tula and just started using it recently. You can't face him outward in the Tula, which is one downfall in my opinion, but we love it nonetheless!!

Love our Tula!!!! But they suggest not to back carry until baby is one year it used to be until baby could sit unsupported but there was an accident and they changed their policy just FYI
