So we're getting a lovely tax return thanks to Zeke. I'm wanting to take part of it to buy a structured carrier that will allow me to wear Zeke on my back since I don't know how much longer I'll be able to hold him on my front thanks to having big boobs.
I've narrowed it down to a lillebaby or a Tula. What's your preference? I'm kind of leaning toward the lillebaby since I can face him outward when he's on my front (unless I can do that with a Tula too?). But I like the patterns Tula has better
Go try them on. They both fit differently. It's going to come down to personal preference. Alrhoigh I will say I have a huge chest and it's never an issue. I have a Tula and just bought a Lillebaby all seasons. I bought the new one because it has a zip off section by their backs to let air in for the summer and it forward faces. I love both. My husband has taken over my Tula for the most part. But if you can get to a store or a baby wearing meet up try them out and see how they fit you.
From the feb 16 board. My son just turned 4 weeks today and I'm really wanting to baby wear. I have never baby wear before and he's my fourth baby. He's only about 8lbs but would love suggestions on which one would be best. I know it depends and every wrap/carrier fits differently. Thank you. Oh I would love something that I could breastfeed him in.
I decided to go with the lillebaby all seasons carrier. I'm sure I'll like both but I want Zeke to be able to face outward since he loves looking around and I like that the all seasons has the mesh since it can get quite hot here

Congratulations on your newest baby! My best suggestion would be to try to find a local babywearing group that would allow you to try different carriers/wraps. You can breastfeed in most of them, it's just a matter of how high the learning curve is. https://babywearinginternational.org/about-bwi/chapters/ This is the list of chapters for baby wearing international. Try to connect with the one nearest to you and see if they have any meetups nearby. Trying things on and receiving education from a certified baby wearing expert makes such a huge difference in how you wear your little one.
I have a Lillebaby airflow, which is great. It's not awesome for my frame though. LO's father loves it though because it works very well for his wide frame.

Just got this pretty little thing today!! Love it! We are flying home to SD next week and I can't wait to use it while running around in the airport like a mad woman.
This post started it all for me!! I joined the budget baby wearing BST site that was linked on here and it has just gone crazy since then!! I'm now apart of at least 4-5 local babywearing FB groups . Excited to be picking up my first Tula tomorrow!! I had no clue how "big" baby wearing was, it's like my very own little club, and then there's the Tula club to!
I have an Ergo 360. I've only worn my baby around the house but I really want to start wearing her when out and about. The whole thing is a little overwhelming. I know this may sound silly but how do you know if your baby is in the carrier secure enough ? I'm afraid to over tighten it and I'm afraid to not have her in there tight enough.

It's not a silly question. Your best bet is to try to hook up with a babywearing group in your area so they can actually see you and baby in it, but another good way is to tighten it as much as you can and baby will let you know when she's uncomfortable.

There is definitely a learning curve and if you are a ftm and fretful about everything like I am the curve can be steep! I watched a ton of utube videos to help boost my confidence that I was positioning LO just right. So priceless now because I carry her everywhere and a lot of it is second nature for both of us at this point. LO has a pavlovian response whenever she sees me grab the ergo off its hanging hook!
Those of you with the ergo 360... how big were your LOs when you started to use it? Mine is 13 lbs and I still have to roll up a receiving blanket to put under her, and there is still room! She must have a small tush. Anyone have this issue? I don't want to spend the money on the infant insert now because I think it's for babies under 12 lbs and I heard it gets real hot with it.

We've used it since she was about 4 weeks. I ditched the insert when she was about 3 months. She's now almost 5 months and we don't use the seat any more. She's 25 in and 14.5 lbs now. I mostly ditched the seat so I could nurse her while she's in it. She is comfy and happy in it. The insert does make them really warm.
Anyone tried the mommaway ring slings? I want to see if I liked ring slings and they aren't too expensive, so I figured that could be a good trial sling. Don't want to completely waste my money so I figured I would ask.
I'm thinking about a sleeping baby ring sling but concerned about sizing, if it will fit, etc. they are a good price as I don't want to spend a whole lot. I tried on a couple ring slings at our local BWI but the ones I wore were just too expensive for our budget right now (just bought a Tula which I LOVE). But also loved the ring sling. Anyone have experience with ordering a sleeping baby? Or any other ring slings around $50? And that are easy to break in!

I just got one a couple days ago. I am still learning to use it, but so far I like it. I went with linen so I could have a cooler baby carrying option for summer. I got the medium since that is my shirt size and there is a good amount of tail (probably could of gotten a small, but I figured too big was a better problem then too small). I got her standard pleats for the shoulder and that I love so far! I need to figure out how to keep C from popping the seat all the time, she never pops in our woven (I think this is user error not tkhe sling).
Edit... there is also a SBP Sling Swap page on Facebook, if you are interested in a used one.
We got our Tula in the mail yesterday and my fiancé is in love with it. We have a ring sling, but he's happy that we have something easier to put on with his broad shoulders.

You may have tried this, but pull the cloth up between her legs and create a seat just like you would for a woven. It helps, though I've found it is way easier for them to pop their seat in a sling than a woven wrap since there are no passes under their bums. If you pull enough material under their bums then it is harder for them to pop. The better I have gotten at making a seat in the sling, the less my daughter fights it. It's mostly just taken a bit of practice for us to figure out what is comfy.

Thanks. I have been pulling the fabric between us to make the seat. I think your right it is just practice. C did take an hour nap in the sling yesterday, but when she woke up she popped her seat right away. I think we am getting better at it.
My LO loved the Boba till he decided he wanted to look out on the world and not at me. I got an Ergo and honestly I hated it, he liked it for like 2 weeks then hated it. We had a Baby Bjorn we got at consignment when I was like 8 months pregnant and he loves, loves, loves it!!! He is facing outward and I am not worried because he's always had good head and neck control even as a newborn. He's 25" long and 15lbs. He gets excited if I put it on and it's been awesome because he is interested in everything I am doing from loading the washer to hiking or walking around. In fact he gets bored being on his tummy, back, and bum and the only way to entertain him is to put him in it. I know everyone says stuff with the hip displysia but I felt like his limbs weren't wide enough to spread in the Ergo and they were most comfortable in the Boba or Bjorn. I love carrying him around and now I am worried with him going to daycare that he's gonna be fretful without being able to pretend he's a 'movable, active' baby.

The most recent studies on hip dysplasia have shown that the narrow seated carriers don't cause problems, but they can exacerbate existing and possibly undiagnosed issues. Glad you've found something you and your little one love.

Just had to share that we received our first Lenny a few days ago. It was my diso and it is love. Buying used is seriously the best. Already so soft and broken in.
Do any of you have a kinder pack? I have an original ergo and an ergo 360 and have been toying with the idea of a kp. Thoughts?
As an FYI to anyone who has fallen down the wrapping rabbit hole as hard as I have, Pavo now has a #under150 on their BST site. Pavo wraps are amazing, beautiful, high quality, wraps that are made in America.

I really like that wrap. It's very pretty. I'm stalking Lenny Lamb Colors of Magic. All of their colors of magic series are right up my alley asthetically.

Oh no. Don't tell me things like this! Ha ha I am falling down the rabbit hole!
Hi ladies, I am looking to get a wrap, but I am not sure if I should. My son weighs 20lb, and I want to be able to wear him around the house so I can get things done. I have a bjorn, but he seems to be to round for it. Have any of you had experience with a wrap with a bigger baby?

I personally have not, but many ladies I know wrap their toddlers and even older children with no problems. I would suggest checking Baby Wearing International's website to see if there's a chapter near you. If not, check around on facebook for babywearing groups in your area. They should be able to give you some hands on help.

@AshFox413, I used my Moby-style wrap for DS1 until he was about 2. I'm not an expert by any means, but I might be able to help. What would you like to know?
My daughter is 18lbs or more right now, and I just purchased a woven wrap (I had a ktan before, and I felt she was always sweating in it) I took a long one to do a front cross carry and she likes it. She falls asleep in it too, but with a pacifier. I use it everyday a little bit in the morning and a little bit in the evening when she is tired so I can have some cuddling time with her before going to work. And on the weekends if we go somewhere, so I dont have to carry her with my arms.
I think I took it a bit too long (4.6m) as I have a lot of extra fabric. I need to try different positions though. Havent tried back carry yet as I like seeing her too much!

This is possibly the best cheat sheet ever for figuring out what size wrap you need. A lot of women have one in their base size and a "shorty" in base -2 or -3. I'm currently loving shorties as they make for quick ups so I can get things done around the house.

Thanks @VexedMommy, it looks like I have the right size then ! It just takes a while to get used to it I will pick a size 3 to try other positions (yay, another reason to pick a new design )

Same question as Pp, what do you need to know ?
My woven wrap is too long, too. When I've finished wrapping the carry I just wrap it around my waist one more time. So for the front cross carry, instead of tying it in the back, I wrap it around one more time and tie it in the front, just under LO's bum.

I just wasn't sure if I would be able to carry him in it bc he is so heavy. I ended up getting the boba wrap, and he seems to like it, and it has great support.
Has anyone used the bibetts website they have lots of wraps, wrap conversion ring slings and SSC. They even do layaway.
I have not. I've been on various BST sites and now have my two DISO's that convinced me to wrap coming to me this week. I remember back in the beginning saying how I would never wrap because I was scared my child would fall out and I loved my SSC. Rofl.
Times have changed so much. I've become a pretty experienced back wrapper and am working on becoming a Volunteer Babywearing Educator with my local BWI chapter. Even experienced mamas can be proven completely wrong about what they like most with their kids.
ETA: Although now that I know this site exists, it's one more place to stalk for ISO's. lol.
ETA 2: Holy crap! She has my ISO in a ring sling. This is such a bad thing for my budget, but it's so pretty and perfect for spring/summer. The Lenny Lamb Colors of . . . pattern is one of my favorites. I love each colorway.

So I really want to get a Lenny Lamb Little Love breeze or ocean but my husband my kill me. But I've heard it wraps like a dream.
Are you on any of the LL BST sites? I belong to a couple of brand specific groups and have begun doing temp trades. I send them my wrap and they send me theirs. I'm getting to try some incredibly epic wraps that go for more than $1000 for my $200 wrap + shipping cost.
Another thought to consider is what carries do you do? A base size wrap might be out of your price range, but a shorty might fit a little better. Have you ever done a rebozo? It's a front or hip carry that only needs a size 2 or 3 wrap and it's "poppable" so you can pull your LO in and out of it without having to undo the carry. Perfect for grocery stores. If you've already got some beginner back carries down, HJBC with a Candy Cane Chest Belt only needs a size 2 or 3.
Try to find a local group where moms will let you play with their wraps of various sizes and brands.

I'm having trouble finding any love with ring slings though. Bridget is a chunk and all the ones I've used are a bit diggy. I think if I try another it will be a floating gathered shoulder. I've only tried the eetsi and gathered shoulders so far.

Have you tried a maya wrap ring sling? We have berries, and absolutely love it. It has a padded shoulder and is very comfy for me and my chunky baby!
