@Buthayna - my reaction was just, "wait, hold the phone! Green skittles are SOUR APPLE now, not lime? SCORE!"
@MrsDramaK - sadly milk chocolate is the only form of non-white chocolate I can eat because the cocoa powder is a migraine trigger, so I'll just eat your share, okay? In moderation because, there is such a thing as too much of it for my head...

@Megzb510 and @Schumerator I am guilty of thinking/talking about moving to Canada - or New Zealand or Australia (probably not because so many deadly creatures) or any other English-speaking country. And I love voting. I vote in every election, including all primaries, off-years and all local elections, and I try to stay as informed as possible and feel very invested in the whole process. For me, it is incredibly disheartening to see someone spouting blatant racism and hatred and being praised by so many people. And that we live in a society where that man could actually become elected president. It sometimes makes me want to give up and see if I can find a place where the political system and majority views better align with my own morals. I will absolutely vote and encourage everyone to vote, and I remain generally hopeful, but I will be devastated if Trump actually wins the general election. It's bad enough that he is this close to winning the republican nomination. Oh and I am hugely in favor of universal healthcare.
Couldn't agree more. I also think it's hilarious how so many Americans are so anti universal health care when it has worked quite well for other countries for so long - and if you ask most people from those countries, they will say that they are happy with it! Of course it has its cons but so does our current health care (as someone who works with it daily in a mental health facility) - it's a wreck! My coworkers and I are constantly talking about moving to our own island if Trump were to get elected. Clearly this is not realistic, but a girl can dream haha.
@anj27 don't come to Australia, our government is falling to pieces too, at some point the Queen is going to have to come back in here and take over its ridiculous.

My UO is about an article I saw this morning, a mother who is raising her youngest (8) son as gay, and whose oldest son (10) had just come out to her as heterosexual.
why the hell can we not just let kids be kids these days?! Why do we all have to sexualise everything kids do? Why when a boy plays with a barbie it's a big deal because his parents are "allowing him to be himself" and it's "empowering" when a girl is allowed to play with a truck or constrction tools? Why can we not have "boys toys" and "girls toys" why do we insist on trying to remove the gender from everything? What's wrong with having things for each gender? There's nothing wrong with it and there's nothing wrong with kids playing with whatever they want. Just let kids be bloody kids and stop forcing gender stereotypes and sexual preferences down their throats, just let them choose when they're ready.

@MrsDho11 well, the ones I had at Christmas were! and they were individual snack packs (like the kind people give out at hallowe'en) so I had one of the leftover packs this week and I was disappointed again because I forgot haha I'll trade you my green apple ones for your leftover milk chocolate!

Toys don't have gender and when you label them as such it creates a divide where Barbies aren't "for" boys and trucks aren't "for" girls. There's no need for it. A girl who likes trucks is no less a girl and a boy who likes Barbies is no less a boy.
@Aphillips95 I'm sorry to hear that. That sounds like a mess. I'm sure hat every country has their own share of problems that outsiders just don't hear about. Will the queen be able to improve the situation?

@Lulucooks sorry I meant more along the lines of the sections at the store, there are always going to be toys that are more marketed towards boys and some that are marketed more towards girls. In the same way that the colour pink is associated with girls and blue with boys, switching them over isn't wrong, but I don't see what's so bad about having things that boys inherently like and things girls inherently like sectioned that way, it doesn't mean that kids can't pick from the other section.
@Anj27 probably not, we really just need a government that the people trust, we've had 2 seperate governments (liberal and labor) in the last 4yrs and both times the prime minister has changed due to party vote halfway through the term, meaning that the person the people voted in is no longer in charge, it's just a mess. No one is actually leading anything they're all just bickering amongst themselves.

@winnie81 That quote from your FB was seriously hard to read. Maybe I'm just old fashioned this way but I think if someone is going to express a strong opinion on politics they should at least make an attempt to have proper spelling and grammar. I mean I know a lot of the stuff I post is guilty of murdering the English language but at least I'm posting something less serious. If someone has some misspelled words or poor grammar while they're talking about gifs it bothers me far less than if someone has misspelled words and poor grammar while they're expecting you to take them seriously.
Also, I'm probably being a bit of a hypocrite here. My brain can't even this morning so I make no claims about my own grammar.
But if your strung opinion is "I don't care," then bad grammar is more fitting.

I don't see why we need to label toys "boy" and "girl". When you do that you say that this one isn't for the other. Stores will always group things with other things that might also be bought, it's just good marketing. It's why they stock marshmallows near the graham crackers during the summer. But why should Legos be divided?
I completely agree that toys need to be marketed for children of age x versus boys/girls. So a boy shouldn't play with a toy kitchen? Wouldn't that be terible if your son grew up to be a Michelin rated chef? Girls shouldn't build? I know some amazing women architects/engineers (I think we might even have some in this group). Separating toys only further encourages girls to do 'girl things' and boys to be masculine. It's silly. If we see what makes our own children tick, and feed that interest without concern of gender roles, we'd be amazed at what our children might choose if we let them. Tapping into passion without letting gender influence career or hobbies leads to a more diverse world, one which will someday eliminate the gender pay gap. I'm a tomboy... I'd rather ride quads, dirt bikes, shoot guns, drink beer, bust balls and camp than host a dinner party for my friends. Sounds like a snooze fest to me. I'm very lucky that growing up nobody told me what was for girls and what was for boys. I might be very different and feel forced into a certain role had my parents shoved gender norms down my throat. Just my 2 cents.
I hate avocado. It seems to be everywhere. On everything. Always marketed as so good for you. "Oh look, healthy fats, blah blah blah." But the texture makes me gag as soon as it hits my tongue. I've had the rare batch of guacamole that doesn't make me want to vom but it's usually super citrus-y and packed with a lot of cilantro. Every time I say this in mixed company I get looked at like I'm an alien but *shrug*
I hate Starbucks for the most part. They make a really nice dessert drink but in my opinion they make an awful coffee. Their black coffee tastes burnt. I'd rather drink dd or McDonald's coffee anyday of the week. Ideally I prefer mom & pop cafes. But those aren't always convenient. (That said; I DO love a good psl or white chocolate mocha. But let's be honest, neither of those are really coffee.)
People go to starbucks and purchase regular black coffee??? Weird.
I agree. I didn't realize people do that either. At least where I live they do. I hate their lattes and espressos too though. It's just gross.
To any candians on here though, love me some Tim Hortons. You guys have that down!

I laughed at this People will stand in line for 15 minutes for Timmy's coffee. There was a rumour going around that they put crack in it to keep people coming back!
I'm also very happy that our election is over with. We had a much needed change in government and so far our new PM is doing a great job.

I'm a day late to the party, but yes to all of the bolded.
My step-son has a baby doll - full up with a little crib and blanket and bottle and a set of clothes. He also has a Hello Kitty kitchen set. Granted, the kitchen set was Hello Kitty because they didn't have any other sets when his grandmother bought it for him... but... did he care? No. He didn't comment on the colour, or any part of it - other than how cool the "disappearing coffee" pot was, and that there were little cupcakes with it ("Oh look it comes with food!!").
As a result he's an excellent companion to any babies he comes across - he knows how to hold them, and feed them, and he's going to make a wonderful father if he decides to procreate in the future. He also has food and menus and utensils and things at my mother's house for when he wants to work his restaurant there. He has menus at our house and we bought him more cooking utensils, and serving dishes, and he wants food next time we get him any gifts.
My seven year old doesn't label his Hello Kitty kitchen set as a "girl's toy". His friends that have come over haven't mentioned anything about it being a "girl's toy". His cousins don't shun the "girl's toy". It's just a freaking toy, and he has a blast playing with it, and the colour or symbol or pictures on it mean absolutely nothing to him. Only to us adults. That should say something.
