@moosette113 We went to the Baltic for a belated honeymoon - I loved it!! Especially Estonia. The only "dangerous" food is mushrooms if you're not used to eating wild ones. Try the saltibarsciai - SO good.

We are going to Madeira in two weeks (I'll be 10-11 weeks). Then I'll be in Portugal, Northern Norway and Austria for work/weddings the last week of 2nd trimester /1st week of third trimester. These trips were all planned ahead of time so I'm super excited it is all working out  :)

As far as an actual Babymoon, I am hoping to spend a week in August in the Black Forest or Alps. Cabin for the two of us and the dog . Still have to convince DH though!

We're going to be in Tallinn for just a day and we still need to figure out a plan of attack, so if you have any suggestions I would love to hear :) I'm actually a pescatarian, so I will probably LIVE off of those wild mushrooms and whatever cooked fish is being served on our boat, but I'll definitely give the saltibarsciai a try.

BTW, I'm beyond pumped to see another Germany mom on here!

  • Ladies who are considering Hawaii it is stunning here although I would recommend looking up the islands and seeing which one you want to visit. The big Islandnof Hawaii is amazing and Kauai  will provide a lot of out door activity if being a beach bum is more your thing Maui is great. Oahu is so rich with history but a lot of hustle and bustle since it's so crowded.

We we are in the mist of moving off the Island of Oahu so we are playing tourist in Waikiki this week then heading to Kauai over the weekend. We had originally planned it as a decompress after our move/another honeymoon. But I guess we can claim it as our baby moon. i love traveling though so I'll see if we can sneak any other trips in before baby gets here.
  • Dr told DH and I to go to Hawaii  (I love my doc) so we are hoping to do just that next month or rent a beach house with some friends and stay more local. Either way I need a vaca from work badly!
  • We're are doing a road trip to Alberta and BC. Very excited. Hope I am up to it.
  • We booked our dream trip to Hawaii three weeks before we found out we're due with #2 so I guess this will be our baby moon :) We're going to Oahu in July so I'm monitoring the zika situation carefully, but I'm hoping that since Hawaii claimed a state of emergency for the mosquito situation, they'll get the extra funding to keep zika away. I'm kinda bummed all my cocktails will have to be virgin since our last awesome vacation to Aruba two years ago, I also ended up pregnant two months before we went!

  • Last time around we booked a stay at a really nice hotel about an hour away, got massages, ate delicious food, and just relaxed.  It was low key and awesome.  I'd like to do something similar this time too.

  • Oooooh man I just got in trooooouble lol. I just booked Vegas for a babymoon, it's just two days, but I also got tickets to see Gabriel Iglesias while we're there and we had previously booked a room for the night at the new Great Wolf Lodge for our anniversary the week before. The husband thought I was talking about for next year when I asked... his face when I added "No silly, next year is Hawaii for my mom's 60th!". Oooops!

  • @Piperella , LOVE it! :)  I'll take the blame!  Travel and weekend getaways are the best! Having a baby is a perfectly good excuse to plan a vacation. :)

  • @annabenanna you are evil.  I just spent an hour looking at flights to Paris.  DH is a huge tennis fan and it looks like we just might be able to plan a trip to the French Open around Memorial Day weekend.  We definitely wouldn't be able to do it just with our travel points but it would help with the expense and who knows when we'll be able to do a trip like that again?  Now to finalize the details and clear it with work .  .  .

  • @simcal18 , <evil cackle>  The time is now!  I'm so glad you're looking into Paris!  Norwegian Air and Iceland Air, as well as WOW Airlines (also from Iceland) have amazing flight deals.  Dunno if your travel points work towards those airlines, but they're worth looking into.  (We got tickets to Greece for $600/piece roundtrip!)

If you are only there for one day I would suggest doing a basic city walking tour and going up into the old city walls (entrance at Gümmaasiumi 3) - it's a little scary and kind of dirty but really different. If you have a chance to see folk dancing, definitely do that as well!

And I didn't realize there was another Germany mom here! :) I'm in Heidelberg.

We're headed to the Bahamas in June for Track and Field event. DH is from there hence the username... I don't really count it as a baby moon because we were going one way or the other. But I'll take what I can get! I am considering a baby moon for my DS. He's ten has been an only child for so long, I want to give him a last hurrah. Has anyone done something like this?

ps... Zika is not in the Bahamas in case you're wondering though sadly I had to give up my Rio for the Olympics plan... The family is going without me
We're headed to the Bahamas in April. You're absolutely right...as of today there's no Zika in The Bahamas.

Just a friendly reminder to those that are afraid of Florida or any other state that has reported cases of the Zika virus; NONE of the cases in the US were contracted here. All the cases are from traveling to infected areas.

  • We had already had a trip planned to Vegas in May before our BFP, so that'll be our babymoon.  DH's company is paying for the vacation and we had a few options, including an all-inclusive resort in Mexico.  It was hard to say no to that one because I'm such a beach lover, and I know it's a cardinal sin of TTC to act pregnant before you're pregnant, but I'm so glad we thought ahead on that one.  It was before zika, so we were just thinking about flights and not having hospitals if needed and all that stuff.

I've never thought of myself as a Vegas person, but I am SO EXCITED!  My plan is just to alternate my days between the pool and the spa/fitness center (canyon ranch is in our hotel).  The rooms look super nice and there's a ton of amazing restaurants.  I think we're also going to travel to Zion national park or the grand canyon for a day.  I'll be smack in the middle of the second tri, so hopefully I'll be feeling great.  It'll be interesting to see if I have a legit bump yet or if I'll just look like I have a beer gut in my bathing suit, but whatever.

  • DH and I had already planned to do a get away for our anniversary, so it will kind of serve as both. No definite plans yet, we've been debating between a private cabin up north or spending a long weekend in Chicago. The original plan was Cedar Point, but if I can't ride the roller coasters it just won't be fun!

The tres leches donut there is my jam!  Also OF COURSE Dominique Ansel's bakery in Soho, frozen s'mores are amazing.
  • @Blonde1817 The side of the canyon that is closest to Vegas, still a decent drive, is privately owned and a little pricey to see. Just an FYI, you may want to look into it before you go.
  • Last time we went to a local city we don't get to visit much to a B&B for our anniversary, which happened to be 8 months pregnant. We did some restaurants, relaxed, went to some museums and the zoo. It just worked out that I was pregnant. I was beyond huge, swollen, SPD and having BH by the end. It was a hard trip for me but it was fun.

We won't go anywhere super awesome, maybe even just send off my toddler for a weekend in August and stay at home and enjoy some quiet time and stay at a B&B in the mountains for our anniversary in May. I'd rather take a real vacation as a family with our son if we are going to do something huge.

  • @Blonde1817 , Zion National Park is beaaaaauuuutiful.  You must try and go if you can. :)

@annabenanna, we're looking at Iceland Air!  We'd have a layover in Reykjavik but it wouldn't be too bad.  The only thing is that we have a decent amount of both Amex points (which we can use for a bunch of airlines including Iceland Air, but not United) and United points (which we can use with United and basically nowhere else).  We've got enough for one ticket but not two with either set of points.  :-(  So we're just trying to figure out which itinerary is the better value, and then trying to figure out whether it makes sense to top off points with cash to buy two tickets with points or just buy one ticket with points and the other with cash.  I floated the dates by my boss today though and she said we should be good to go, so I will be doing lots of research this weekend!!!  It looks like this may actually be happening .  .  . I am so so psyched.

  • We booked a big family vacation 1 week before I found out we had a LO on the way.  We were originally going to go to Hawaii, but our family there said that there has been a Dengue fever outbreak.  We didn't want to expose our DD to that so instead we booked a trip to Bermuda for this summer.  We have been there many times and love it there.  I've been checking the CDC website everyday regarding Zika.  Bermuda doesn't have the type of mosquito that carries Zika, but that doesn't mean that their mosquito can't get it.  If the virus winds up in Bermuda we will be canceling our trip though.  It just isn't worth the risk.

  • We are going to Sarasota FL in May for my BILs wedding  (if I can still go. I'm concerned that my blood pressure has already started increasing at only 7 weeks. Bah) but if it's still on, we'll be going to Melbourne for a few days so my Grandparents can meet my DS. So a nice relaxing trip.

We also go camping with my parents once a year (in their camper. It has AC. It's not real camping haha) over 4th of July (Los birthday is the 2nd, mine is the 5th. It's basically a family holiday week). We have reservations at Welsey  (spelled wrong I know) Island up super close to Canada in the St Lawrence. Looking forward to that if I can still go.

But all were preplanned. No real baby moon here.
