I'm sure it's been brought up before, but baby brain has officially taken over & I can't remember for sure.
I think the 3D/4D [elective] ultrasounds are so unnecessary & really creepy. I'm all for them if there is a medical reason for it, but I don't understand having them just for the hell of it. I'm totally okay waiting until delivery to see what my little guy really looks like.
I think taking a pillow, robe, slippers, blanket etc to the hospital for delivery is way too much, (unless you're going to be there munch longer than a normal stay). It's 1-2 nights for most, and there's no way I'm lugging in all of that just because "my pillows are better than the hospitals." It's not like I sleep that much there anyway.
I also hate wearing the hospital gown, and go straight to my own clothes as soon as the IV is out. The nurses think I'm crazy every time.
Yesterday was dr seuss's bday so this week at school it's been dr Seuss everything. I can't stand dr Seuss. Some of his books are smart, and he wrote them to help struggling readers, but books like Fox in Socks are just ridiculous to me. Teacher probs?

Not to get too political here but I despise the people who try to shame you into voting. Why should I vote just to vote when I don't agree with any of the candidates and would honestly be upset if ANY of them won (yes, I know one of them has to win, that doesn't mean I'm happy about it). All that voting for the "least worst" candidate does is force candidates to not be quite as shitty as the other person, it doesn't force them to actually be a good candidate if that makes any sense.
If people voted only when they actually liked a candidate, not out of a feeling of duty (and just hitting the button of the party they side with having no idea of the candidate's views) they'd have to work so much harder to actually get people out to vote for them and maybe they wouldn't be so awful.
@AmberLiz99I can see maybe a robe and your own pj's, I don't want my backside hanging out, but I agree. I can us a hospital pillow for a night or 2, with my newborn in my room, I doubt I'll be doing much sleeping anyways.
I dont like like facial hair. As a little girl my father always shaved his face because apparently I refused to kiss him once because I said his face was prickly. Idk if that has anything to do with it but I find beards gross and unhygienic.
Flame suit on, I'm happy American Idol is ending. I haven't watch it in YEARS, but I think it's pretty lame. I do like Kelly Clarkson though
Totally agree! On a fun side note Ryan Seacrest grew up down the street from DH and used to babysit him sometimes and was on his dive team when he was older. He was not a nice kid.

I agree with you in this. I will also add for me that I would rather someone not vote than vote when they are uneducated. I didn't register to vote until I was in my mid 20'S for this very reason. I had people that would come down on me hard all the time about it. I would always tell them that and they never understood. I didn't care enough about politics to pay attention to them and figured I would be doing more damage voting just becauseI should than I would by not voting. Even now I only vote on things that I understand and study up on.
To add on to @sgoldberg247 not only do I think the shaming is bad, but when they add on, "if you don't vote, you lose your right to bitch about it." That drives me bonkers too. No, I don't lose my right to bitch about it. Everyone blows. No matter who I do (or don't) vote for, no matter who wins, it all blows. And I will bitch about it.

Whereas I do not agree with shaming someone into doing anything, I do not truly think that there are that many people out there that do an obligatory vote. They generally just do not vote at all. The U.S. in general has super low voter turnout...I mean 30-35% is awesome for us...that is not even a passing grade in school. I used to not care as much about this in general when I was younger, but after meeting my DH who was born in a Thai refugee camp and came to this country with his family because no other country would claim them, I now have a completely different perspective. Being someone born in the U.S. where I have always had the right to vote, it is easily taken for granted. Not everyone gets a choice...and yes part of that choice is to abstain, but is it not better to educate yourself and exercise your rights intelligently. I just ask that if someone is abstaining or voting that they do so intelligently....
Which brings me to my UO for today (which is not directed to you @Sgoldberg247). I loathe stupid people that think they understand politics and the whole voting process when clearly based on the crud that spews from their mouths they have no clue whatsoever...my faith in humanity basically rides on this election.
My UO is that higher education should not be free. More affordable? Yes, but I think that could be easily attained by cutting unnecessary expenses on college campuses. Like, does my campus REALLY need a Starbucks in the library? Do we really need to continue to heavily fund a mediocre football team?
But free (or "free")? No. Bachelor's degrees are almost nearly obsolete in the job market as it is. Making college free for everyone would just further this issue.
@VikingGirl12 Aw, I love Dr. Seuss. I think some of that comes from that fact that I share a birthday from him, but I do love his stories. Some of them are a bit ridiculous, but I think they are fun.
I agree with those of you who have said that all the candidates for president are terrible. I feel like it's all just a joke. Makes me very scared for what the future brings.

I agree with you here. I think the funds necessary to make higher education free could be better allocated elsewhere. Additionally, not everyone needs or should go to college! Training after high school? Sure. We need skilled tradespeople, builders, mechanics, farmers, etc. that don't need a college degree.

As a nurse- I would advise bringing your own towels. If you saw the sh*t that happened on those towels you would too. They are bleached until they are literally rock hard to get the nastiness out, but still.

I post-secondary education should be more affordable for middle class families and free for students in a low income households.

I realized I left out the word 'think' here - but am leaving it because I find it funny that I made a basic grammatical error on a post about higher education.

Haha, hey chalk it up to being pregnant.
I agree that college is much too expensive as-is, and would love to see it become more financially accessible for middle class or low-income students. Free for all? No. Cheaper? YES.

I can agree with that.
We have a federal aid program that provides government grants that don't have to be paid back to people in lower tax brackets. I never qualified until I got married because they always went off my parent's income (even though I was paying my tuition) and not mine which was annoying. So I took out loans and then this last year of classes I received a few grants that covered my tuition.
A lot of people (that I've personally known) do abuse it and sign up for classes, get their aid and then just stop going to classes after drop dates and use the money for their own purposes - especially when I was in community college. That bugs me, but for the most part I'm really fine with the way the current government aid program runs. I think college should be more affordable to those just over the threshold to receive grants. I just don't think college should be free to everybody.

My husband played college football and he played with SEVERAL guys who recieved a ton of money to go to school. Between their football scholarships, grants for being single fathers (some of them) and grants for being a low income African American, they pretty much made bank while getting a basic communications degree. A couple of these guys went on to play pro football (still do play I should say) and some went on to move back home and work at sports authority. Because they blew all that grant money on a communications degree they had no plans on actually using.
obviously this was not true for every guy that played with him that received these benefits, but it was enough of them that it pissed us off. I just paid off my last student loan (I only had to take out 5k) but I worked my ass of for academic scholarships. And my husband got by on a combination of his football scholarship and academic scholarships. We wouldn't have qualified for any grants because, like PP, they go off your parents income if you aren't married.
@VikingGirl12 Fox in Socks is stupid. There. I said it. I read it to my daughter the other night and I got so tired of the dumb tongue twisters by a few pages in. I'm not a big Seuss fan either.
I dont like like facial hair. As a little girl my father always shaved his face because apparently I refused to kiss him once because I said his face was prickly. Idk if that has anything to do with it but I find beards gross and unhygienic.
Lol. Your post made me think of this article about the hygenic benefits of beards. Here's hoping our nurses have beards! (Since generally, we won't be kissing them and prickles won't matter) https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-35350886
Yes, LaCroix is gross. I so badly wanted to like it because I miss soda and I want something to drink besides water and juice. But yeah, that didn't work.
If I were @fishwife799 I wouldn't bother adding anyone to the "Master Due Date Spreadsheet" whose first post is to the "Master Due Date Spreadsheet"
That would drive me completely bonkers. Honestly it's practically 1 in 4 posts are on there are from drive-bys who never respond ever again- what's even the point?

I hate the current system. I didn't get a dime for college because my parents made too much, but my parents did not contribute to my education at all. So while I was working 3 jobs to get through college, a bunch of my friends were taking extra grant money to buy new clothes and eat out everyday. I don't know what the solution is, but the system is messed up.
