Re: Feb/March IVF/FET

  • @knottie1432834683 ugh that is bummer news! It looks like we will still be on a similar time line so as much as it stinks it is sort of comforting to know we are not alone in things being delayed. I have an MRI scheduled in two weeks to determine septum vs bicornuate uterus and then a possible second hysteroscopy two weeks after that it needed so I'm on the May start time as well.

In the meantime, since I have no control over anything else with my body I decided to get lasik done and have that scheduled for Thursday. I've been putting it off for years since the thought of it terrifies me but I figure it's now or never so I'm looking at this delay as a good thing now. Wish me luck!

  • @mtpbadger My clinic gives a full month off before starting the FET meds, so I'm looking at a May transfer as well. Good luck with your Lasik! That's great that you are finding a positive something in your delay. Hugs and FX!

  • @mtpbadger - so sorry about your delay. I just wanted to chime in because I've had a septum removed. It looked like a bicornuate uterus on the HSG, but a laparoscopy showed a septum, which was repaired. Please PM me if you have any questions!

  • @dragonfaerie looks like we will be on a future board together! I'm excited to not wear glasses or contacts any longer! I've been wearing them since the 4th grade!

@2015dee my OBGYN never said anything after my HSG but after my saline sonogram my RE was slightly concerned. The surgeon wasn't sure which it was during the hysteroscopy but is leaning toward the septum since I have implantation issues and he said with a bicornuate uterus there should be almost no issues with becoming pregnant. I have the MRI on the 12th and then meet with him on the 16th to go over the results and next steps. If it is a septum, I will definitely be PMing you with questions I'm sure!

  • @mtpbadger Yes! I was going to start a May board, but I figured I'd wait a little longer. :)  My DH asked if I wanted to get Lasik, I've been in glasses since 6th grade. I told him I was interested for sure, but that's an expense we don't really need right now. Hehe. Let me know how it goes!

  • @dragonfaerie I will keep you updated! I figure if I don't do it now, it may be a little while since you can't do it while pregnant or breastfeeding. I got a pretty good deal through LasikPlus and they gave us 15% off since I had friends that had gone to them and used them as a reference. Since we have already paid our portion of IVF but can't start yet, my DH said it made sense to do it since we've already paid our big expenses for this cycle.

  • @mtpbadger Makes sense! I'm glad you can get it done now.

@ssandberg exciting, your transfer is getting close!! My last period before starting stims was very short and super light, I asked the nurse about it and she did not seem concerned.

@milanjayla I hope your FMLA goes through! I thought about doing that, but I have been also trying to transition out of my company so this made for a good reason, and once I'm KU I will find something else. If your career is not too stressful I think IVF can easily be done while working. When I was waking up in the middle of the night panicking about things and having to remote in to my desk at work at 3am I knew I had a problem. I feel weak for not being able to do everything, but am coming to terms with it. Good luck!!

@dragonfaerie I do like to sew. I actually just finished making a new cover for our window seat cushion. Next project is reupholstering a chair and ottoman. But I'm nervous to start yet because removing the existing upholstery can be labor intensive. I am sorry to hear about your delay. Hopefully it is actually quicker than what you clinic is thinking. It is so hard to wait, I keep telling myself that we have waited this long, what's another week. I just wish I did not have to tell myself that SO often. Thinking of you!

@aanddm2014 I'm glad I am not the only one who resigned for this process! Are you planning to go back to work? Great news on you beta!! How many embryos did you transfer, were you hoping for twins? So excited for you!!

@alexiskiriluk good luck!! Keep us posted.

@salt+light sorry to hear about the delay. The dr confirmed yesterday that I am def over stimming w the potential for OHSS. We have planned for early April transfer, I hope it still works out! 45 days of bed rest sounds scary!! Maybe we will be transfer buddies! Keep us posted.

@lynnnj sorry to hear about the delay, but 5 normal embryos !! So exciting!!

@bridgetly congrats on the 6 embabies! As for the acupuncture, I would talk to you acupuncturist. Mine has specific timing she likes to have certain sessions in relation to each step of IVF. good luck!

@knottie1432834683 Sorry to hear about your delay. Hopefully everything else goes as planned and time flies by! Thinking good thoughts for you!

As for me. Had another U/S and bw yesterday, +21 follies still going strong, doc warned me of OHSS. I'm trying very hard to relax and not do much. We did the trigger shots last night. My alarm did not go off, so we were 15 and 25 min (2 different types) late doing them. I feel so stupid for not setting it properly. So tomorrow I am supposed to tell the OR  that we missed the timing and hope everything runs ok. Has anyone else missed their trigger shot time? I get really annoyed at myself for this type of thing. How long does it take to find out how many embryos fertilize? Will I know tmrw afternoon, Friday? I am nervous. I keep getting scared that none will fertilize or something horrible. I was super optimistic until yesterday. So during acupuncture and all day I have been visualizing all my eggs fertilizing. So yea, tomorrow, 9:45 AM EST is retrieval time!

One last question, during stims has anyone else experienced really sore/tender breasts?

  • @vssbrm Hang in there, girl! If your retrieval is tomorrow, you should get word of how many fertilized the next day. I think they called mid-morning for me. Think happy thoughts, do those affirmations! And yes, during my stims I was soooo sore! I had to hold my girls down when I went down stairs cuz they ached.

I'm glad you are having fun sewing! I don't think I'll ever get to upholstery, but I'm learning to do costumes, and I like doing craft-type projects (travel organizers, therapeutic rice bags, etc.)

@vssbrm I haven't been faced with a trigger shot yet but at our IVF info session we were instructed to contact the office and let them know if we are late administering the trigger shot. This way they know to adjust the retrieval time accordingly so you don't ovulate.

  • @vssbrm I do not plan to go back to work until kids are in school full time. That was what both DH and I thought would be best. I can't make enough money to justify day care in Los Angeles, so it would be a waste. Plus we aren't having kids to let someone else raise them. If you think your trigger timing isn't great... When we did the first shot DH got the needle in my stomach and about 2 seconds later I told him "I'm going to pass out". Everything started going dark, and I went down. I recovered a few minutes later, so part of the shot went in on time, part of it went in 10 minutes late. As for embryo fertilization, I found out the next day. I think I also got a call on day 4 saying how many had made it that far.

@milanjayla my husband is an attorney, construction, so we have lots of attorney friends around us. I foresee many of the ladies taking breaks when they start TTC.

@aanddm2014 Oh, no! Passing out is no fun! I hear you on the not having kids to have some one else raise them! My profession is in architecture, and it can be very hard to get back in after being out - I'm hoping I can find something part time to keep relevant - I would not be able to have the level of responsibility I had previously, but it will keep me in the game. I will start looking for something after the transfer next month.

@bridgetly fx for you that all goes well!

Had the retrieval this morning, they got 23! The nurse said they will call this afternoon to check on me, if they have news then they will let us know. Tomorrow they will call us to let us know how many fertilized! I think that is the part I am most nervous about.

I did have a lot of pain after the procedure so I received a prescription for vicodine. It took me a long time to even be able to sit up. The girls who got there after me were long gone by the time I even started moving. hubby is cooking breakfast now, and the puppies are snuggling me so we are going to lay low until my parents come by for dinner tonight.

  • @AandDM2014 I'm really hoping that most of them fertilize. In my ideal scenario I would love to have enough to have two babies (adopt #3 if we get that far) and then more embryos to donate to help another couple going through this journey. FET cycle #3 Transfer July 28th 2016, Triplets born healthy on February 26th 2017 at 33w1d!

  • @vssbrm that's amazing congrats!

We had our transfer yesterday. Turns out 5 of my 6 embies weren't progressing well so my doc wanted to air of the side of caution and transfer the one that was looking good. Im hoping to get a call tomorrow to see if any of the group are able to be frozen, I'm not optimistic but we'll see. Instead I'll focus on the one perfect blast we had and hope it sticks!

hope you all have a great weekend! Any fun things planned?
  • @BridgetLy Yay for your transfer! I'll be praying for a sticky! Think positively!

My DH is going skiing with the boys tomorrow, so I'm going to enjoy a day to myself. :) Saturday night is laser tag for my little sis' birthday, and then Sunday lunch with the family for all the March birthdays (all three of my sisters, my oldest brother in law, and my mom.) How about you?

  • Enjoy your quiet time @dragonfaerie! I'll be heading over to my sisters house (she just had baby #2). Hopefully holding my nephew will bring me luck!
  • Last Monday I was told I needed a hysteroscopy to remove 2 small polyps.  That is scheduled for the 16th.  Post op appointment is one week later.  Hope everything will be okay to start preparing for an April FET. I'm going to check in with the March/April thread since my transfer is now likely to be in April. Good luck everyone!
  • @LynnNJ good luck! I will see you in that thread as well, my transfer will be in April.

@bridgetly any updates? Fx some were able to be frozen.

AFM, 20 eggs sounds awesome, but the recovery is not as awesome. I woke up last night thinking I was going to die, I was in so much pain. Luckily it passed after about 20 min. My nurse says it is normal, but it is not fun.

I have been doing pretty well with having patience this weekend and not knowing how my fertilized little eggs are doing. I'm hoping I get an update call today (day 4? If the retrieval was Thursday) I keep going btwn being entirely optimistic that we have 15 embabies and terrified that none of them made it.

I told my dad that we had 20 fertilize, he is planning how he can convert his home office into the bunk-bed room - yes complete with 22 (I have a niece and nephew) bunk beds.

  • @vssbrm You should get an update tomorrow. It looks like you're going to freeze them all, which is a good choice, especially since you're still feeling bad. April isn't that far away, you'll find something to keep you busy until then, I'm sure.  As for your dad, all I can say is "lol, parents". I think when parents know how much their children struggle to have babies it makes them feel so much more than parents whose children don't struggle. Though they probably don't want to know about their baby girl having sex, they also just want you to have everything in the world you desire. It can make them a little silly. And please, don't have 20 children. That doesn't sound like fun, and at about $5000 each time, woah!!

FET cycle #3 Transfer July 28th 2016, Triplets born healthy on February 26th 2017 at 33w1d!

  • @AandDM2014 LOL, 20 kids!! LOL!! That is not going to happen, in our ideal world we will have 2 bio babies and adopt #3. But I am really hoping we will have some embryos left to donate to a couple who are not able to make their own. After going through this process I feel a very strong need to be able to do that.

Now my dad, he loves babies, his grandchildren are his biggest blessings in life - He might want all 20 of them!

I think it would have been impossible to do a fresh transfer. I'm glad the study we are doing did not even allow us the option of a fresh.

I am not sure how I am going to wait until tomorrow - esp having to stay horizontal all day. I'm SO BORED! The only update I have had is the 20 fertilizing. I would love a progress report today. Boo

  • @vssbrm hopefully you get a call soon with how things are going

unfortunately for us they weren't able to freeze any of ours which is a huge disappointment since we started w 16. BUT there was one perfect one transferred that I'm hoping sticks. We'll know a week from Wednesday!
  • @vssbrm I totally hear you about being bored. Bed rest is excruciating!!! I hope you don't have to do full bed rest at any time once you're pregnant. That would just be the worst!! I don't remember feeling anxious about hearing our numbers. I'm pretty sure we only got 2 updates: how many fertilized and with which method, and how many there were on day 5. I think we had one that needed until day 6 and we got an update for that one too, so I guess three updates. But not until day 5.

@BridgetLy good luck! Are you going to POAS? I have my transfer next Wednesday and I know I'm going to have a hard time not testing early!!! I have my one and only frozen one going in.

I went to the Dr for an ultrasound today and I found out that they didn't freeze my embryos until day 6. Is that bad? Worried me a little. Good news is, my lining was a 12 and they said it was text book perfect. First time in this journey when I was told anything was perfect ;-)
  • @alexiskiriluk I purposely removed all hpt from the house to keep me from checking! That's awesome your lining looks so great! When will you transfer?
