I'm at the Dr's office listening to two trailer trash women discuss how much easier it is to get Medicaid, and be pregnant than remember to take birth control everyday. Oh and the one said that she would never neuter her husband because it would make him less of a man. Wtf. I'm not equipped to deal with people anymore.
@yodiggity As far as I know its an induction for vaginal delivery and not a c-section. Both her previous babies were vaginal (though one did require forceps, my nephew has a big head...). She has had three losses (one at around 7 weeks between her two kids, the other two were early 2nd trimester losses before conceiving this one using progesterone supplements). I know she's had extra monitoring due to the two previous later losses (both around 13 weeks) and everything has checked out, at least as far as she's told me. Given that we're only 5 weeks apart we've been keeping each other up to date on how we're doing. She is a bit older (37 or 38?) but I don't think that would matter if the baby has been checking out fine so far. So of course this makes me concerned as to why she's being induced. I may just have to ask her...I just hate feeling like I'm prying...
Not sure if this should be it's own thread or not... But I just got done at Dr's office and he told me to start stimulating my nipples to toughen them up, and the start trying to produce milk before the baby arrives. Everything I've read has said that nipple stimulation can cause labor to start, and that early lactation isn't necessary. Did I miss something?

Nipple stimulation is one of the few proven ways to induce labor. You also DON'T need your milk to come in before baby. You're baby needs the colostrum first before the more stereotypical breastmilk. WTF is this doctor on?

Ummm. No! Your nipples do NOT need toughened up and it for sure brings on contractions! I'm saying this out of being defensive of you, that's a super "quack" piece of advice. And why would you EVER need milk before baby arrives?!?! No. Just no. Sounds like you realize this is bogus, but that comment alone would make me questions any advice, etc that I got from him
3 miscarriages - 1 DS (6) - 1 DD (3) - #3 due March 30!

Is your doctor older? I know my mom was telling me that when she was pregnant the toughen up your nipple advice was given to her. Now it's usually advised not to

yeah. He's been practicing medicine since like the 70's in the US and for a few years in India before he moved here.
I am SO ANNOYED. So DH bought me a gift certificate for a spa for Valentines Day. I have called SIX TIMES to make an appointment since last week. The first four times I called it just rang and rang and rang and rang...never getting to a real person or even an answering machine to leave a message. I called again yesterday, and it FINALLY got through to an answering machine. I told them that I know their hours are 10-4 for taking appts, but that their message and website also says "your hours are our hours" and they work to accommodate your schedule. I said on the message that I am a teacher and that I work until 4, so if they could please call me after that I would really appreciate it. My call gets returned about a half hour later...while I have class...telling me to call before 4 to schedule an appt. WTF? I told you I can't do that!!! So I try again today during my planning...same thing, finally get through to AGAIN an answering machine, and not an actual real person. So on the message I told them that my lunch today is from 12-12:30, so if they cloud please call me then I'd be appreciative. I did mention that I was getting a little frustrated that I was having some trouble getting in touch with someone. I'm really nervous that they're just going to get pissed and not return my call. Well, I'M pissed that I've called now, 6 times, only twice actually getting to a point where I could give any information, and not once actually speaking to a real person! This was something he bought me off Groupon, it had good ratings, as does what I've read online. So I don't get it! If it doesn't end up working out I will seriously cry ugly tears because I really really want a massage, and DH did a lot of research to find a good place, that happened to have a Groupon available. I know that Groupon will refund us if necessary, but then that leaves me with nothing! ...first world problems...

I was just going to ask how this went!!!!! They suck, and that's super frustrating!

So I went to our hospital tour last night to check if anything has changed since DD was born (they're doing a huge reno on the hospital). I got home and DH had popcorn and a movie ready to go. Awesome, love him! Turn movie on - Fault in Our Stars. Oh boy. Sob like a baby. I'm pretty sure my face is still puffy.
@Knottie9983816 I can think of MUCH more fun ways you and DH could do to toughen up your nips if that's something that needs to be done.
Oh I can think of plenty of creative ways to go about doing that as well, just not down thing I feel like engaging in whilst in beached whale status >.>

Maybe it's run by hippies. I noticed this same thing happening at yoga places when I was trying to sign up for a prenatal yoga class. I never ended up doing it because I could never get anyone on the phone to answer a question. It is so annoying!
@RoseShadow873 I would just go in to try and make an appt, but its two towns over. But after I just did a quick Mapquest...it's less than a mile from where I work...only .2 miles from my daughter's daycare...if I can't get ahold of somewhere I'll just have to stop in I guess. I just really wanted to go in this weekend, and am still struggling to understand how a business doesn't answer their phones, EVER, during business hours?! Especially a place to runs by appointment...
@Knottie9983816 That was one of the weird advices I got from my MIL only she added the shower part and DH doing it for me which made everything ten times weirder
I'm beginning to stress a little. I'm 33 weeks and feel like I need to have bags packed, house clean and his nursery done. Apparently now full term is considered at 36 weeks. I feel like time is running out. He already weighs more then average. My hubby keeps telling me that if we don't have everything when he comes then we will get it when he's here. Which makes sense but also makes me want to blow a gasket. I ordered bottles two weeks ago that aren't here yet.... I'll just stop there lol

Full term, as defined by the American college of gynecology, is 39-41 weeks. Even early term doesn't start until 37 weeks. While anyone can deliver at any time, you still have plenty of time until you're full term, so don't stress. That's not helpful for keeping baby in anyway!

@Cwyatt2571 What has helped me immensely is making a list of all the little items that I need to do. Like instead of "nursery done" I split it into a dozen mini tasks that I can do day by day. Crossing them off, one day at a time, and watching my list have more crossed off than not, has become strangely cathartic. If you're prone to being really Type A and wanting everything just handled ahead of schedule, I think breaking it into mini, manageable tasks is the equivalent of pregnancy therapy.
Our move date has changed from the 7th to the 2nd. I'm moving in Wednesday. I'M NOT READY. NOTHING IS PACKED. I need to start looking at buying things like dishes ASAP.

Addenda for tomorrow: Stay in bed all day except for eating and bathroom breaks. Hopefully that will help with the headache I currently have, and with alleviate some of the pain I've got going on from Tuesday's antics >.>
Can someone please invent a bra for larger cup sizes that doesn't make my boobs look like depressed sacks of mammory glands? The nursing bras that I bought already no longer fit. Between quad-boob and the general blah shape from a nursing bra, my chest looks sad. I miss having DDs... They were so much more manageable than this monstrosity that's attached to my torso.

Confession: I haven't worn a bra in more than a week, including at work, after I outgrew the 3rd set this pregnancy (that's 8 new bras that I can't get into anymore, to say nothing of the ones I had before I got knocked up that are now comically small). My ribcage is now the an inch larger than the circumference of my entire bust pre-pregnancy (it's grown nearly 6 inches). Thought I could do some measuring at home to avoid going in for a fitting for a bra that won't fit in another 2 months; I ended up concluding that basically undergarments are the devil and I'm free-boobing it for the rest of this pregnancy. This is despite the fact that my funbags are enormous (used to be DD, don't even want to know now).
@thaisac1 mine have not grown either, only become tender and intolerant of underwire! My ribcage, though, has expanded like crazy. Anecdotal, but the three of my sisters who have 14 children among them have never had significant breast tissue growth before giving birth, though I remember one going from an A to a DD+ after her first was born. None have ever had trouble with breastfeeding and one is actually still bfing her 15ish-month-old. I chalk it up to my more athletic body type, because my 25 pounds is all belly, booty, and water retention. Oh, and chin. So ready to get rid of this extra chin...
@thaisac1@AmadorRose me three. At one point I thought they were growing but I think my belly bump was just hoisting them up. Everyone keeps on telling me that it'll change once the milk comes in...
I went up from a D to a DD and a 34 to a 36. the bottom side of my boobs are full of stretchmarks and I was not expecting that! I was a B before my augmentation in 2012 and after I was a D with not a single scar or stretchmark!! Wth boobs !!!!
Nights like last night I wonder if I'll ever be able to sleep more than three hours in a row again. Maybe that's something I can look forward to in like August? I woke up around four, and couldn't go back to sleep because I was too tired and started crying. My fiancé woke up, halfway, and rubbed my back for a while til he passed back out. Finally fell asleep again after five, then woke up again a little before eight.
I can not for the life of me fathom how anyone actually enjoys being pregnant.
Update to my first world problem spa scheduling! I decided to try ONE more time after work yesterday (so after they're 4pm time...) since no one called me when I said I was available from 12-12:30.
I got to speak to not one, but TWO real people!!!! Apparently they had a problem when they switched phone services that their lines were not actually transferred, so they weren't getting any of their calls. To top it off, their receptionist who usually schedules appointments went into labor and had a baby over Valentines weekend. So they've been having some issues. The good news is they took all my information and someone will be calling to schedule my appointment in the next few days! Unfortunately, with the mess up with the phones they're really behind so I couldn't just schedule it right then and there. But I will be getting a prenatal massage with their specialized therapist, the Lady Godiva chocolate raspberry sugar body scrub treatment, plus added on a foot reflexology session at the suggestion of DH. I canNOT wait...!
Also...the whole time I'm on the phone with them, I was stuck in rush hour traffic at the same traffic light for three cycles, DD started to scream from the backseat at the exact moment someone got on the line with me, she was screaming for her purple cup that she had lost (which ended up being tucked under her elbow the whole time...), so the receptionist hears her yelling and hears me calling back to her to calm down, I tell her I'm 8 months pregnant, AND that I teach middle school...she just laughs and says "Clearly you need this!" Uh, yeah...
@imrachellea that's so exciting! Glad you got them on the phone and fingers crossed they really do call you back like they said! Cup behind her elbow....story of my kids lives. I am super jealous because I am dealing with the same type of thing...reputable Midwifery/Prenatal spa place nearby that my sister purchased a gift certificate for me for Christmas never sent it to me, and won't return her calls. I may have to haul my cookies the 45 minutes to their place and figure this out. Mama wants her massage!!

I was thinking of this!!! So excited to see the first little baby face
Last night my mom asked me what they could get for LO. I had just told her not even five minutes before that I needed to buy a new crib mattress (for DS's toddler bed) and bottles, since we had tossed the old bottles. Oy vey.

The only worse one for me right now is the capital one card with the Fico score stuff....awesomesauce....Julie??? Ugh. Shoot me.
My advice: fuck bras. Free the nipple!
