Re: Symptoms Thread: Feb 18th

  • For the past week, approximately 3-4 hours after I eat I get SEVERE abdominal pains that I have attributed to gas. Feels like everything in my pelvic region is in a vise. They usually last about 2 hours. I turn pale, start sweating, and really just want to lay on the floor in the fetal position, but unfortunately that's not an option! It's obviuosly digestion related but I don't have a clue what to do about it!

It doesn't matter what I've eaten, or how much, this just seems to be a new regular thing. The doctor said not to worry unless it's sharp stabbing pains. I've started taking colace and magnesium to help get things moving...but doesn't seem to help the gas pain. Gas-X doesn't really seem to touch it. Open to any & all suggestions - this is miserable!

  • My lower abdomen has felt tight lately at times, like a pulling sensation. Also, not exactly the same thing, but one of my first symptoms (before BFP) was that my tailbone felt like it was about to explode! I could barely sit on the couch. But it went away after a few days/week. After my BFP I mentioned it to my mom and she said she had the same thing when she was pregnant.

oh the joys of everything expanding and shifting around haha

  • So. Much. Bloating. It's nuts! And constant nausea, though no actual puking. Yesterday I thought I was done for - headache, nausea, just slow-moving overall, chills - it was horrible. But, my sea bands came yesterday. Those, sour candy, and keeping a little bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios near the bed to eat whenever I wake up seems to have helped. Saltines are on my "Bleh, no!" list right now because of how pasty they are when you eat them, at least first thing in the a.m. Actually, most things that aren't sourdough bread, cheerios, or plain bagels sound pretty horrible at the moment. Hope you like bland, plain food, baby, because that's what you're mostly getting right now! (I promise I'll get you more nutritious stuff if you stop making me want to puke it up, okay? Deal.)

  • Anyone else NOT have the whole "super nose" thing?? I hear it's an extremely common symptom, but everything smells as it always has to me.

  • The nausea never a ends. It's exhausting to battle and work all done. Which is great since exhaustion is my baseline.

In the last few days I have started getting these new uterus pains. Not quite stabbing but not quite cramps. I think things are starting to stretch now that I'm into week 8. Grow little sea monkey grow
Right about 8 weeks I started getting the same uterus pain thing. It's mostly just an uncomfortable sensation. I chalked it up to my giant uterus pushing things around and being a bully to whatever other organs are in its way. Can't wait to see what happens when the baby is actually big enough to bully my insides too. I'm short, so there's not much room in there for everything.

Guess I need to invest in a purse size box of tums.

  • This may be more of a random but ....

For all of you ladies who have been pregnant before, I'm curious about the bloat.  At only 8 weeks, in the mornings I have like a 16 week bloat bump and by evening its like 20 weeks lol.  I'm just curious, did the bloating stop for you at some point and go back to your normal tummy and then develop into a legit baby bump?  Or did the bloat bump just kind of fill into a baby bump at some point?  I have a friend who is 16 weeks and her belly right now basically looks like mine.  So I'm wondering if mine will just keep getting bigger with baby or slim back down at some point.

Kind of a weird question I know, I'm just curious!

I've been massively belly bloated up until this week and almost all of it disappeared early this week.  Sure, I gained morning sickness and food aversions, but the bloat is gone and I can button my pants again even if a tad snug.  It was a similar situation with me last time.  That being said, my sister bloated up and it hung around until her belly caught up.

  • I'm 8 weeks today and just started having low back pain - closer to my tailbone actually. Like everything in pregnancy, the internet is telling me that it's perfectly normal and/or a sure sign of miscarriage.  It doesn't feel wrong so I'm just going with normal pregnancy weirdness.

That is an awesome way of describing it! My uterus is being a bully! I will get a random stabbing pain, closer to my ovaries if I move weird or stretch too far.  Other than that it's aches like I've worked out but not so much cramps.

Okay so I was stupid, I looked up the signs of a miscarriage (first pregnancy and it was a surprise since we didn't think it'll happen due to fertility issues on my part).  I don't have any signs of bleeding, not so much cramping as a weird stretching throbbing sensation that is starting to lessen, but the one that scared me was "all symptoms disappear" so now I wake up and poke at my boobs to see if they're still sore, or if I'm nauseous, which hasn't been too bad since Monday.

I'm almost 7+4, do symptoms lessen while new ones arrive?  Can symptoms get better while still being pregnant?

I know it's hard, but try not to borrow trouble. Symptoms, or a lack of symptoms, have no bearing on the viability of your pregnancy. They can come and go and it's completely normal. Some women have zero symptoms, some have a ton and everything in between. Try to relax, I know it's easier said than done.

I'm only 4 + 4, so still very early. But one thing I've noticed is instead of craving foods, there are foods that I usually love that are an instant "Ewwwww. No." For lunch yesterday, all I wanted was steamed carrots. I usually eat veggies with rice, but rice sounded disgusting, so I just made a massive amount of steamed carrots. Lol. Then for dinner I made some pasta. Started making tomato sauce and it was an instant ewwww. Pesto sauce was just fine though. Very weird!!

I'm also experiencing a lot of bloating. I can't wait for that to go down!

ETA: my boobs are also pretty sore...I keep checking them to make sure they are still sore. Haha.

I sit in my office feeling myself up all day.  If someone ever catches me poking myself in the boob I'm going to have some serious explaining to do.

DH very nicely brought me tacos for dinner last night.  One chicken, one steak, one chorizio.  The steak and chorizo tacos were delicious.  The chicken .  .  . hell to the no to the chicken.  I took one bite and instantly decided that it was not for me.  DH helpfully took a bite to confirm that nothing was actually wrong with the chicken and then finished it off for me, but that was probably my first real food aversion moment.

In general I've had a little bit of gas/indigestion, and I definitely have to pee a lot, but my main symptoms are probably the fireboobs and a complete inability to stay up past 10 PM.

  • Extreme nausea has kicked in full force today at 5.5 weeks. It was here and there for a while but today it comes in awful waves. Trying to eat is not fun at the moment. I'm also crampy today and as usual, exhausted. It'll all be worth... I just keep telling myself.

  • For those of you who have had cramping, did you feel it all across your lower abdomen or just on one side?  I've been having some pain on one side only.  Called the Dr today and she is letting me come in for my first ultrasound ealy next week (I'm 5W, 4D).  Trying not to worry, buts it's hard when you had a miscarriage in October and you don't want that to happen again!

I have had cramping across my abdomen, just on my left, and just on my right at different times the past few weeks. My doctor assured me that it's just everything shifting/growing and that I shouldn't worry unless the pain is severe and/or accompanied by bleeding. I hope your us next week puts your fears to rest.

Mine is across my lower abdomen (truly like everything inside there is in a vise), but there are times that it is concentrated on the right side. Happens several times a day, but usually goes away within 1 - 2 hours. My dr. also said not to worry unless it becomes a constant stabbing pain, or if there is blood. Even though I know that, when I'm in the throes of these cramps I still panic a bit. They are PAINFUL!

  • Weird symptom here - usually I don't notice cold or enjoy the feeling. Since I've been pregnant, I've been more sensitive to cold and needed to be warmer.

  • Has anyone else become a massive klutz? I've fallen twice in the past two days and banged painful parts of my body doing normal things like getting out of the car and off of the couch.
  • I'm super paranoid right now. :/ SO and I had sex last night, and we were pretty gentle (because it feels like my vajj has become so shallow, like the ceiling is right there.. Am I Making any sense? Lol maybe it's because the cervix is low, but anyway it's making me feel like ermmm... SO is humongous when he's in there) . Anyway, I saw pale pink after I peed and wiped. I knew not to worry because it's a common symptom.

That was gone by morning and all day. But at 5pm today after work, I saw after wiping that I had that same pale pale pink. Then nothing. Then it came back at like 8.

:( there's been no cramping. I'm just feeling super paranoid.

First time pregnant, we've been trying for almost 4 years. I feel like I'm trying to be so in tune with my body but I need to just relax. Symptoms at 6wks are waves of nausea throughout the day but doesn't last very long, cramping while sitting in a certain position, and tiredness. I'm usually now in bed around 9 pm. I will gladly take all of these symptoms to make a healthy baby! I feel so blessed to finally experience pregnancy.

We haven't had sex for almost 3 weeks because I'm so paranoid about spotting after. I logically know that spotting is common after intercourse in early pregnancy and that if it happens, I'll know exactly why, but I'm still scared. Try not to let it worry you, your cervix is much more sensitive right now. I'm going to take my own advice and bite the bullet. We can't live in fear for the next 9 months, right?

  • @annabenanna - try not to worry. I've read your cervix is really sensitive, and likely to bleed some when irritated.

I haven't read everyone's posts yet, but I've been making myself really anxious with symptom spotting. I'm constantly Googling. I stopped temping because every drop made me paranoid. I'm 6 weeks today. I had sore boobs starting around week 4 and then really reduced to now only sensitive if I push on them. So, of course, I'm constantly doing that. I do feel exhausted at the end of the day, and I've been freezing (except for the bizarre hot flashes at night). Starting a few days ago I'll sometimes feel nauseated after eating or in the morning if I haven't eaten...I haven't gotten sick though....is that normal morning-sickness stuff? I can't stop freaking out over the lack/lessening of symptoms. Regular cramping/pulling feelings but those don't freak me out. No spotting.

  • @MRSCORKER, you are so right.  We can't live in fear for the next 9 months!  I've promised myself I'd stop googling symptoms.  Instead, I ordered "Expecting Better" and "Let's Panic About Babies" on amazon.  I will educate myself and stop worrying so much!

@MorganL925 , thank you. :)  My brain knows and if I were logical, I'd not worry about the spotting.  But I'm letting paranoia take over when I shouldn't. At 6 weeks, I was feeling super normal, except for crazy hunger pangs and vivid dreams.  At 6 weeks and 5 + days.... the nausea set in.  But today (at 7 weeks), I feel fine.  I think symptoms will come and go, depending on how our body is adjusting to the hormones.  Try not to worry so much.  :)
