My next appointment isn't until March 4th when I will be 12w3d but I was thinking of calling the office and seeing if I can get the orders to go get it done before than. And then have the results by my next appointment. I was planning on going with the Verify one by Progenity but I called my insurance and the Qnatal by Quest is covered 100%! Which is so much easier since there is a Quest lab attached to my docs office. With the Verify one I would have had to gone 30 miles to get it done.
I was just figuring this all out with my doctor at my appointment yesterday. I understand you can do the test as early as 10weeks, but the doctor said that around 12 weeks is slightly better because sometimes you have to re-do the blood sample if there isn't enough material in the blood to get results. The doctors office said that they all are pretty much exactly the same so you just have to find what works with your insurance, and where the nearest draw station is to you. Most of the time they have to send you to a lab to do the blood draw.
I'm having mine on 3/7 which is 12 w 4d. I was told to be most accurate it should be between 12-14 weeks. There was only one option offered for the NIPT, so it's the one we're having done and it's scheduled at the local hospital.
I'm probably getting maternit21 in Mon. Found out that insurance covers. Random question, if you're getting an NIPT, do you still get a u/s for the NT scan? Last time I just did the NT so I'm curious. Obviously, I'll find out all on Monday.
@backoffunicorn Your OB may be different, but with mine I had the option of doing both the NIPT/NT scan, one or the other, or neither if I was against genetic testing period. My insurance is abysmal, so I chose to only do the NIPT. He was totally on-board with my decision and didn't think anything would be missed by skipping the NT scan since the NIPT is pretty thorough.

I had the Harmony Test yesterday, my OB/GYN has a phlebotomist in her office, so I had all my blood work done at the appointment. And I also have an NT scan scheduled for 03/03. My dr wanted the genetic testing done due to my age and even if our insurance doesn't pay for it, she said it runs about $120, it was worth it for us.
@backoffunicorn I was wondering the same thing. My doc never mentioned the NT scan to me. They do have an US tech in their office so they might do it at my next appointment. I guess I will have to wait and see as well.
I'm pretty sure I'll be doing the MaterniT21 test in about 2 weeks at 10w2d (it might be a different test if my insurance doesn't work out a coverage issue by then), and I should be getting the results at the 12 week scan (where we'll be doing the NT test too). Finding out the results online sounds nerve wracking! I'm sure the 2 week wait will be as well though.
@backoffunicorn my OB recommended the NT scan over the NIPT for women who are not high risk. The NT scan covers a lot more and if anything shows an elevated risk, you can then do the NIPT test. Even when I got negitive results with my NIPT test, the genetic counselor still recommended doing the NT scan because it covers more bases. I ended up doing both and paying out of pocket because I really wanted to do both but this was not recommended by my OB.
I'm doing the NT scan and the blood tests at 12w 5d even though I REALLY WANT TO KNOW THE GENDER RIGHT NOW and that is approximately FOREVER from now. My doctor assures me this is not a great reason to do the tests early and it's better to wait, ha. She is clearly not taking my extreme lack of patience into account.
Coming back to let you know how my genetics doctor did things. I got the Maternit21 and an NT scan along with it. If the NT scan had come back not great, the genetics counselor said they would've started discussing an amnio or cvs. Not sure if they still would've done maternit21 or just skipped it. Good news is the scan went well and I should have my results back in 10 days (and know baby's sex)!
Didn't even know what this was, but apparently I got it done today! We didn't do this with DS, bit since I will be 35 when I deliver that was the reasoning my MFM gave us. No clue which one was ordered my Dr just recommended it and we said ok. Should be getting results in 10ish days, along with the sex!
Anyone here not 35 and had the NIPT done? My insurance pays for it and advises it for all women regardless of age that have a single pregnancy. I haven't been to the doctor yet, so I'm not sure if they will allow me to do it since I'm not high risk.
I turned 28 this month and my OB suggested NIPT this time. I got the blood work drawn at my appointment today at 11 weeks. On the form I asked them to leave the sex off the report. First step to being team green!!

Age wise we are low risk, but we just did the Nuchal scan which came back high risk (at 3.7mm). Now I am all kinds of worried, we meet with the genetic counselor tomorrow morning, and will get my NIPT (blood drawn at the lab). This is going to be a hellish next two weeks.
I think we may skip the CVS (depending on when we get the NIPT results back and what the results are).
We go in for our NT ultrasound and Harmony test this Friday...So at a couple days short of 13 weeks. Amalgamation of scared, excited, nervous, anxious, etc.
Monday we go in for bloodtests and an NT u/s--have no idea when we'll get the results, especially since the testing isn't with our OB--we were referred out due to no openings in our window.
For those of you that we're referred out, did your paper with the dr orders have a specific code or title to know if you have the harmony tests etc. On it? I'm trying to determine if mine do but nothing says any names of the tests mentioned. My orders are definitely NIPT. Just curious, I'm emailing my de tomorrow to ask as well.
I am 35 and my OB recommended both the Verifi test and NT scan. I had the blood drawn for the test at 11 weeks, and am scheduled for the scan in another week or so.
We're doing the Sequential Integrated Screening (as part of The California Prenatal Screening Program) which combines the NT scan at 12 weeks, blood work between weeks 10 and 13, and blood work 15 and 20 weeks. My scan is Thursday, and this weekend I started freaking out..............so nerve wracking
For anyone who has done the MaterniT21 test how long did it take you to get the results back? I'm getting my blood drawn tomorrow (a Thursday, I'll be 10w3d) and I'm hoping to schedule my 12 week appt and NT scan for a date after the results are in if I can. Thank you!
I just had the Harmony blood work done yesterday and they said results would take 7-14 days. I'm really hoping that it's more 7 and less 14. The MFM office is supposed to call me directly with the results. I also had the NT scan done the same day and measurements for both babies were normal, which was a relief.
@Ssoccerball I'm glad to hear your NT measurements were normal! I know I'm going to be super anxious waiting for the test results, but it seems like a full 2 week wait for results is really common. I hope you get good results!!
I'm doing the NT scan and bloodwork at 12.5 weeks. I'm still in my 20s and low risk, so that's the only screening my insurance will pay for. I wish I could find out the sex early, but I will have to wait til the anatomy scan
I had a test called Panorama done today. I'm 10w1d. I'm 37, so I hate to just roll the dice. Plus, I'm totally anxious and excited to find out baby's sex.
With my crazy PGAL brain, I know this will be a long two weeks. Ugh.
I'm super irritated by the fact that I had the NIPT Tuesday but my insurance doesn't cover the cost of finding out the sex. Like - really??! How much more could it be? I asked if I could pay the difference but not an option. Ugh.
this is a petty thing to be upset about but it's the fact that I was (incorrectly) looking forward to the sneak peek that gets me down. We do have an anatomy scan in April and hopefully baby will cooperate at that time. My NIPT results (the actual part that really ought to matter to me) should be back next week.

Happy thoughts for everybody as we get closer to the end of the first trimester.

Did you all do both the NIPT and NT or just one? I will be 36 when baby is born so a little higher risk.
My NIPT is scheduled for Monday at 11w2d so it'll be a long 10 days for the results!
