Re: TTCAL check-in 2/22

  • 2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.) TWW here. I wait until the bitter end to test, we shall see.

    3. Rants/raves: I had my P4 (progesterone) levels tested at 7DPO. I had, had my yearly last week and explained my short LP issue and he ordered the blood work. Results came back showing "strong ovulation" which is all it really tests anyways. My level was actually higher at this test than it was at my last draw during my infertility testing (the month I conceived DS) so that's nice to know it was a good egg in there. I still plan to ask for my progesterone levels checked in early pregnancy next time I make it to that point just to be cautious. He suggested to keep an eye on the short LP because it was potentially "very concerning" and come back in 2-3 months if it's still acting up.

In other "rant" news... He told me that my TTC clock started over with this miscarriage. I expected a delay in the year requirement, but was a little annoyed that a miscarriage counted against you in doing more testing seeing a specialist.

    4. GTKY: what holiday(s) are you most looking forward to celebrating with your kid(s)? Why? I've had the most fun with Halloween! I never expected to be into it, but it's been surprisingly fun.
  • Loading the player...
  • @BornReady Sorry for all the frustration with the short LP. I'm right there with you. At least they're doing the necessary testing for it and FX that they address the issue and get it taken care of for next time.

    2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.) WTO: CD 16

    3. Rants/raves: So I'm pretty sure my O date was yesterday but waiting to confirm with two more high temps. I'm frustrated with my OB/GYN because she wanted to also put me on Progestrone supplements post ovulation since both of my losses look as though a short luteal phase played a role in improper implantation. I looked up the medication and saw "Do not take if you have any blood clotting disorder", which I do. So I secretly think my OB is trying to kill me. Not really, but still annoying that she didn't look at my medical history before trying to prescribe it. I called Friday afternoon, was supposed to get a call Saturday. Still nothing. Oh well, at least my chart looks nice.

    4. GTKY: what holiday(s) are you most looking forward to celebrating with your kid(s)? Why? I always enjoy Christmas. No kids of my own yet, but seeing my neices and nephew's face light up when they open their gifts from Santa just makes my whole day.

  • 2. Status: TWW - CD28 - but I had a temperature dip yesterday that went further today (I'm at my cover line) and spotting. I'm at 10 DPO so in theory it could be implantation bleeding but I doubt it.

    3. Rant/Rave: well I suppose this is both - yea, my LP increased from 6 to at least 10 from cycle 1 post MC to cycle 2 - but FML, 10 still isn't really long enough. I know, cognitively, that we haven't been trying that long but patience isn't my strong suit (DH is more patient so he doesn't seem to feel the urgency/disappointment over TTC like I do - though he certainly felt the MC). And I suppose a December/January baby would be better work-wise than a baby in the middle of a semester because I might be able to get someone to cover the last week or two of a course, but not the last month of one. But we've got savings to cover our arses should I have to take time off because of due date conflicts with contracts. I would really like a 2016 baby because I dislike the number 17 (bad luck in Italy, like the number 13 in North America) but I'll have to work at ridding myself of that thought.

    4. GTKY: Christmas - I love Christmas, the smells, the sounds, the decorations, the excitement that children have, the break from work and school.

    2. CD 19

    3. Rants/Raves: After a great temp spike yesterday probably due to drinking the night before now in retrospect, I had a substantial temp drop to 96.5 this morning. What the actual fuck? My CBE OPKs won't stop flashing the smiley faces and my WONDFOS won't darken- they got lighter yesterday which really made me think that I had O'd Saturday. My CM is telling me nothing. I'm seriously upset. My hormones are completely out of whack. I can't sleep more than 4 hours at a time. I'm having sharp ovary pain. My migraines are out of control and I'm totally moody. I had sex 5 days in a row, I just can't keep doing it.  I don't know what to do so I'm making an appt with an RE even though I don't meet the 6 months of trying mark or the RPL requirements, but I need to find a doctor that will actually test my hormone levels. My OB-Gyn thinks I'm crazy, but I've had horrible sleep issues for years that are hormone-related and my once super thick head of hair is thin and whispy now. She only tested my FSH, TSH? And LH levels. Nothing else. Sorry for the rant, but that temp drop was so devastating and makes me think that I can't possibly be ovulating this cycle.

    4. GTKY- I don't like this one for the TTAL board. If I ever have an actual live child, I'd look forward to celebrating Xmas, but I'm not feeling confident about my chances of that these days... So. Yeah.
  • Intro: I posted an intro right after my loss but I haven't really posted since so I'm Rebecca, we've been TTC for 6 months now and I had an early miscarriage 2 weeks ago the day I was supposed to be 5 weeks. TTC has been a little rough for me because I work days and DH works rotating 12hr night shift so we can't always hit my FW.

Status: cycle 1 TTCAL and I think I'm WTO, CD 15

Rants/Raves: I've been using OPK's just to see what this cycle will do after my miscarriage. I've had very strong lines yesterday and today (before loss I usually O'd CD 14) but I'm not sure if I'd call them positive yet so I'm waiting to see when they start decreasing.

  • @BornReady, good luck this cycle! I think different REs will have different cut offs for when the year clock resets. Some will say any positive test resets the clock, others will say a take home baby resets the clock. The most common cutoff I see is that seeing a heartbeat resets the clock. I don't know your background, but I wouldn't be afraid to ask REs this question (once it gets to that point), as they will be treating you, not your OB.

@nwegman7878, good luck this cycle! I hope you figure out something that works for your short LP.

@catiecatp, sorry for likely impending CD1.

@becbec28, I'm sorry you find yourself here, but welcome!

@chloe97, I'm sorry this cycle is so confusing. As hard as it is, everything you're describing seems within the range of normal after a miscarriage. I think it's worth following up on the thinning hair, but you don't need an RE to do that. As an aside, I've seen you post a lot of things on here where you seem really upset and sad. Have you considered counseling to help you through your loss?
  • 2. As for me, CD27, 9DPO. BFNs yesterday and today, which I know is crazy early for testing. I got a squinter my last pregnancy the evening of 9DPO though, so I just feel out this cycle.

    3. I've been sleeping through my temping alarms a lot this month, and at crucial points (right around O and implantation). I'm kicking myself because now my temps and chart are totally wonky. I got a pretty big dip today, so I'm not exactly encouraged.

    4. Not sure on this one. Either Christmas or Halloween.
  • @RiverSong15 Thanks for your kind words, I actually am in counseling. But scheduling has been tough and I haven't seen her in a month. Of course my appointment is scheduled for Wednesday and now we are supposed to get a huge snowstorm. I do always seem to be sad or upset the last few Mondays, but I am not always sad or upset. As soon as I think that things are normal, they are not normal. I feel good about a cycle when it starts and then my body F's with me and decides not to ovulate. Is it really normal to have super high estrogen levels and no fertile CM? Because of my sleep issues, I am just so worried that my body is going through perimenopause and I just need some sort of answers and I feel like no one takes me seriously.
  • @catiecatp I have had the same frustrations with my DH. He's very zen about the whole thing, and I think his primary disappointment has been having to see me so sad at the time this has taken whereas I am a woman on a mission!

@Chloe77  It looks like your OB tested the big ones in terms of infertility testing. The only thing my infertility panel was different on was doing testing my prolactin and estrogen levels. I also had an ultrasound on CD 3 (same day as bloodwork) to check out my ovaries, follicle count etc. Was your OB willing to look at your progesterone? Was he/she concerned with any of your levels? I'm not sure what type of insurance you have and what infertility is covered, but I have 100% infertility coverage and they would cover absolutely nothing until I had an "unexplained infertility" diagnosis, which in my case I could only get after the time TTC. Insurance makes me rageful, so I would definitely check with them and the RE to see what would be covered.

I am also right there with you on sleep. For the first 2 months after my miscarriage I was awake every morning at 3:30/4. I was not even tired when I woke up then, just spinning the wheels in my head, crying, agitated etc. I'm just now getting some sleep again. Anyways, sorry you're struggling, this all sucks.
  • 2. In limbo currently. Usually my cycles are 26 days. Tested at CD 26 (12 dpo), got BFN, tested at CD 28, another BFN. Currently on CD 30, still no AF. I have one test left so I'll try again in a few days (although if I'm being honest I'll prob test tomorrow am). Have an appointment with my nurse practitioner(she's so much better than my GP) on thursday so if I don't get AF by then I'll have some blood work done I imagine.

    3. Went to a baby shower yesterday for my cousin and one of the guests who does not know my situation yells across the room in front of everybody "when are you having you're little one?". It took all my might to not reply with none of your fucking business. Buuuuuuut I was good and simply said "all in good time". I just find that question so rude for so many reasons. Urg.

    4. I think I'm most looking forward to Easter TBH. I just think it's so cute seeing little ones searching around for goodies from the Easter bunny!

  • Hello everyone!

** some details of loss mentioned **

    2. Benched. I started spotting again, so I don't think my first period is anywhere near. I have my last follow up with the EPC tomorrow. My betas went from 40K to 2K in five days, and were at 200 two weeks ago and they expected it to go back to less than 5 before tomorrow. I'll see an OBGYN too tomorrow, as I had a 5 cm fibroid we're going to look at to streamline the process and get back to TTC.

    3. RANT: Our idiot neighbour (we only have one, we live above a commercial space and she's in the basement) who can't even shut the front damn door - and we live on a main street in a dangerous neighbourhood - is 19 and accidentally pregnant. She was just a little ahead of me and now I'm going to have to see and hear her newborn around our due date. I hope with my whole heart she moves back to her parents, as her basement suite is 300 sq ft and doesn't have a lick of natural light.

I've also had unbelievable bloating and swelling in my lower abdomen for weeks now and it's awful. And a sinus infection. I had an afternoon where it seemed like I had PMS on steroids.  I could have killed someone, or so it felt. I thought af couldn't visit until a significant amount of time after you stopped bleeding entirely? If my period arrived 'on time' (28 days after I delivered the placenta) this plus the cramping would have been at exactly the same time I got PMS and cramps before. I think that's probably not clear, but ranting, ya know.

Raves, eh? I have a little more energy. An old internet friend randomly sent me a cover of Sufjan Stevens song and it was really sweet of him. It got me to listen to music again, which I'd stopped doing entirely. I cooked, I baked. I entertained (and landed in bed before dinner was done but still I did it).

    4. This is hard. Hard to think about, mostly. If we had had a girl, we would have named her Beatrice and dressed her as a bee for her first Halloween. But that's over now. Christmas, of course. I love Christmas with a fury hardly ever seen. I didn't celebrate as a child, so every Christmas I have as an adult has been a very big deal to me. One hopes.

@RiverSong15 I sleep through my temping alarm every day. I also forget and then get up to pee. I'll try harder.

  • 2. WTO. AF is ending now (this was a short one. I'm confused but now complaining). My FF app has been glitching lately but I think O will come the first week of March? I'm so bad at all of this.

    3. Rant - this was our first cycle TTC and I had no idea how heartbreaking the BFN would be. I've gotten them before obviously but it was so so much harder after our loss. All I could think was "I shouldn't even be peeing on sticks now, I should be pregnant." I know I'm preaching to the choir on this one, but it feels better getting it off my chest.

Rave - I have a pretty busy week this week, and I'm excited. Last week was boring and I was lonely so I'm glad to have people to hang out with!

  • @BornReady It sounds like you and I are going through a lot of the same things. I sleep okay at the beginning of my cycle and right after ovulation, but horribly right before ovulation and AF. I haven't specifically asked my doctor about testing any hormones, but she brushed me off when I asked about testing for PCOS after my last scan showed follicles on my ovaries. I am pretty sure it's because I got pregnant right away and have had regular periods. I have incredibly good infertility coverage, but I have been such a heavy user of my insurance this year, I feel like the insurance company will scrutinize any claim that is made before 6 months after my MC. That would be June.  If the hormone testing is because I am possibly going through perimenopause-an actual medical issue- then it would be covered. It's so annoying. I wake up sometime between 3 am and 5 am every day and I take my temp and then I rarely go back to sleep. This morning, I was up at 4:30 crying about my temp dip, so there was no way I am going back to sleep.

@riversong15 Could that temp dip at 9 dpo be an implantation bleeding? FX.

@beff12 I felt the exact same way about my BFNs last cycle. It was like reliving the MC. I cried 3 days in a row with BFNs.

@babyroper I can't stand people who ask you about having kids. I made the decision to flat out tell anyone who was rude enough to ask that question the truth. That should stop them from being so nosy in the future.

  • 2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.):  WTO, CD 12, so about halfway to O (I have a long cycle).

  • @dpjennifer It actually started long before my pregnancy. I used to have clumps and clumps of hair fall out, which wasn't concerning b/c I had so much. I had grown my hair out for my wedding and thought that it just seemed thinner b/c it was longer. Then I cut it and realized I had no hair left. I barely have any clumps at all fall out these days b/c I have far less hair than I ever did.

@chloe97, anything is possible, but since I temped an hour and a half late this morning, I'm thinking it's more likely a temping problem. I have the opposite problem from you and @BornReady; I sleep like crap, but as long as I temp at the same time, my charts are fine. If I oversleep though, all bets are off.

    ETA responses to others:
@beff12, I totally get it. I had the same thoughts when using OPKs.

@babyroper16, sorry for insensitive people! Unless people have gone through trouble TTC, they don't get how questions like these are insensitive. Because, as we all learned in high school, if you have unprotected sex just once you get KTFU, right? Not an excuse, just a rant.

@reneeannemm, hugs! That sucks about the neighbor. I'm in a book club with a member who is due about three weeks before when I would have been. I get it, and it sucks!

@dpjennifer, I hope WTO goes by quickly for you!
  • @chloe97 Wow, about the hair... that would be tough to deal with!  I've always had long, thick hair and have definitely been worried about it since it started falling out everywhere after MC.  But it still is pretty thick and doing fine.  I hope you are able to figure yours out soon!!!  :(

@RiverSong15 Thank you!  And it's interesting to read about your temperature situation.  I get up at varied times (4:30am on work days, 6:30am on telework days, and later on weekends).  So when I first started charting I was worried the varied times would throw my temperatures off, but FF suggests taking your temperature as soon as you wake up from your longest sleep for people doing 'shiftwork' and although my chart is a bit bobbly, it has been working out for me.  Sucks if you sleep in even a bit that it makes it all wonky!  :(

  • So sorry about AF @jenmlangtake2. This process just SUCKS.
  • @BornReady I heard that the TTC count restarts with each pregnancy/loss. That sucks. Total I am at 8 months (6 months really because you cant truly count the 2 I was pregnant). After my loss I am at 3. I am hoping that I don't get to the point of needing testing or anything. FX for you!

@nwegman7878 That sucks about your supplements. Hopefully they can get it all sorted out.

@chloe97 Sorry your having such a hard day. I am big on making sure you have a good doc and advocating for yourself. I love my PCP and the fact that she listens to what I have to say. Hopefully you can find someone who will listen to your concerns weather its a different OB-GYN a PCP or an RE.

@babyroper16 How do you know you were 12dpo? Do you temp? Just because your cycles are usually 26 days doesn't mean they will always be. Also after a MC everything can be different.

@beff12 I keep thinking the "I should be pregnant" thought all the time. I have noticed that I am way more BSC in the TWW now. Before I was calm and naive.

    2. WTO/CD6

    3. I am heading out of town for work tomorrow and Wednesday. I should get back just in time for my FW to start. I am excited that we shouldn't miss it.

    4. I am looking forward to Halloween and Independence Day. H and I love Halloween and go all out every year. I will be excited to throw kid friendly Halloween parties for our friends and little ones. As for the 4th of July. My parents go all out every year and it has become a tradition. For like the whole week it is like a "staycation". My parents have a home on the lake and we invite our friends and family. People come and go as the please through the week/weekend. We usually do 1 or 2 nights of fireworks. We have been known to drop a couple grand on fireworks between my parents and DH and I.

I didn't do that specifically, but if I remove the +OPK on CD15 it does move CH to CD19. Thanks for having a look!

ETA: I have played with that +OPK because it was a borderline +.

  • I agree with @Chloe77 . Looks like CD 19 to me too.
  • CD19 does look more probable, although it doesn't line up with CM or CP very well. When in doubt, I'd use the later date for testing purposes.
  • Thanks so much ladies! I really appreciate it.

@RiverSong15 That was my concern, too. But I will say that my CP may not have been super reliable if you account for my learning curve. I think I did pretty decent on CM up until it gave me CH.

  • @jenmlangtake2  I'm with you in crawling up in a ball this week.

@reneeannemm  Sorry about your neighbor--that constant reminder has to be tough.

@babyroper16  Sorry about the baby shower--good for you for holding your cool.  People just don't think sometimes!

    2.  WTO or benched--will find out at docs tomorrow.

    3.  Have travel plans to visit a sick family member overseas leaving this week and going for two weeks....hubby is not going so hoping this cycle is a bit longer than normal, but most likely am going to miss this month.

    4.  Christmas--love this season!...but I agree not the best question for this board.

  • @jenmlangtake2  I'm so sorry about AF... I say you SHOULD curl up with bad tv and wine! Hopefully a better cycle is to come.

@m6agua That 4th of July sounds so fun!

Sorry I forgot you guys earlier. I type in between doing other things around work, and someone always sneaks in before I post!

  • @bornready – here’s hoping your LP settles soon – mine might be but time will tell

@nwegman7878 – that is crazy! I hope they call soon – and I hope they smarten up. You could try talking to a pharmacist about it…

    @chloe97 – hugs

@becbec28 – FX you ovulate soon

@riversong15 – FX our dips are something other than AF coming soon

@babyroper16 – you handled that better than I would have – hugs

@reneeannemm – yea internet friends and starting to getting back to things you used to enjoy – boo on neighbours

@beff12 – hugs, I feel the same way – I feel like I am done with the TTC – like I’m “stuck” if that makes sense

@jenmlang2 – hugs – Easter chocolate is out – that’s my plan for when I get home in about an hour…

@m6agua – Independence day sounds like a blast! We never do much of anything for Canada day. I’m excited for celebrating Canadian holidays in the US if I get a job – two Thanksgivings is going to be fun – I love turkey and celebrations

@cjs260 – I would peg it more at CD19 or maybe even CD20 – especially for testing purposes  – I don’t like how so many temperatures are above the cover line – usually you want 3 consecutive below at some point… as you mention, the CM might be skewing it a bit. I’d love to know more about your detergent at some point if you have a recipe to share

@af2013nl – FX you get a bit of the FW at home

     -------

General – does anyone know how big implantation dips usually are, mine went down to the cover line? I’m getting some new symptom spotting today but my temperature measurement is making me feel like we’re out of the game this month. Had some spotting, but the month I got my BFP I had 3 days of spotting starting on 10DPO (which is what today is) but I had no temperature dip… sigh

  • @catiecatp I've chart stalked implantation dip on FF and they all seemed to go down to the coverline. FX yours is an implantation dip!
  • @catiecatp My implantation dip went below the cover. Here is a screen grab for you.

  • @BornReady  Seriously?  The year clock starts over?  That seems really silly to me.  Also, thank you again for your and @Riversong15 help with my chart yesterday.  I got some dubious crosshairs today, but it is what it is I guess.

@nwegman7878  That’s really scary that your doctor didn’t look!  Good thing you were looking out for yourself!

@babyroper16 Sorry about what happened at the baby shower!  I know people don’t mean anything by it, but seriously, just ugh…

  • 2. Status (WTO, TWW, Benched, etc.)  TWW hopefully!  Temping has not liked me, so I'm not 100 percent sure.

    3. Rants/raves  My rant is that my husband thinks I'm a complete nut job to be doing all this stuff to conceive.  He thinks that we should just "let it happen naturally."  I don't think he quite understands how it works.  And he's the one that would only BD like once a week if it were up to him.  I would be willing to do more.  He's really not mean or making fun of me, but he just keeps asking me if other people do all this work like temping, charting, and using OPKs.

    4. GTKY: what holiday(s) are you most looking forward to celebrating with your kid(s)? Why?  ALL OF THEM!  I love holidays.

You're welcome! Also, with the year clock thing, it varies from clinic to clinic. I've generally heard that it only resets if you've seen a strong heartbeat, otherwise it doesn't. On various threads here though, I've seen some ladies post that their OBs consider it reset after a positive test, while others only consider it reset after a take home baby. I'm sure it also varies from insurance to insurance.

For me, my insurance sucks, and covers NOTHING, not even testing. So, it's mostly a matter of when a clinic would see me (God forbid we reach that point) and when we want to pay OOP for testing. Mentally, I'm excluding the month I was pregnant and the month I was benched, but the month(s) before that should be included, I think, since my loss was early. *shrug* like most things loss-related, there never seems to be 100% consensus.

ETA: @catiecatp, my implantation dip was 4/10 of a degree, but still above cover in Nov. FF looks for at least 3/10 of a degree and a drop that lasts only 1 day. FF says nothing about the CL, other than that it's merely a visual aid to help ppl see an ovulation pattern.
  • Hugs to all who need them!

Status:  WTO. Cautiously optimistic. So hoping the third time is a charm!

Rants/raves: DH got a new awesome job and I am so happy for him, and what it means for us.

GTKY: Christmas, for sure. My favorite holiday!

    Hi everyone,
Seems to be a lot of TWW/start of AF anxiety and emotions today. Sending some calming, positive vibes to you all.

My family doctor sets the clock back after each medically confirmed pregnancy (I.e. bloodwork). I am going to see an OB in April and this is on the top of my list to ask her opinion on.

Status: TWW of cycle 3 trying since loss #2...about 5dpo today. Feeling pretty chill today. No idea what to expect, and just feeling blah and powerless. Been having some constipation since O....not sure what it means. Could just be a new luteal phase symptom for me. I notice new ones all the time.

dont really have any rants or raves today. Like I said...i just feel blah.

I look forward to any holiday/birthday with my someday kids. I look forward to making our home a centre of festivities and I hope to be the house where they bring all their friends to hang out and celebrate birthdays/holidays.
