My uo is going to make me sound like such a brat but wtf Hawaii I only have a short time left here and it has been so cold I can't go out and play at the beach. Granted I'll be heading to California which also has the beach nothing compares to a Hawaii beach.

ooooh! @itravelsize , where in CA are you headed to? Hoping it's Southern CA and not Northern. The beaches down here are much prettier than up there.
I've never been to Hawaii though, and wanna go so bad! Maybe for a babymoon.
Not every question or thought that pops into your head deserves its own thread.
This was totally going to be my UO. I guess it's not as much of a UO as I thought, but based on the INSANE amount of new threads popping up on the daily, this opinion is obviously shared by a select and awesome few. I miss the TTGP board and it's structure and I constantly lurk there because the community is amazing.
It'll calm down in a month or so and the board will find it's groove. Plus the crazies will start disappearing.
@annabenanna luckily yes southern CA but I just love the water out here and even though I grew up in CA trust me the beaches here are heaven. I would say do it although careful on some of the water activities they can give you a tumble. Over the years I have spent here I have spent a lot of time covered in bruises. There is still lots to do in terms or easy hikes and always relaxing on the beach though.
My SUPER UO is that I really don't love the snark. Unless it is warranted, because someone took zero time to learn about the board before positing their per sticks and "am I pregnant" questions, etc. Other than that, a lot of these women (me included) are FTMs that are scared, nervous, anxious, and are just looking for support from a group of women feeling the same (or not the same) things - whereas they can't get that kind of support or reassurance from anyone else in "real life". Straight to the point answers = yes! Sarcastic responses because you think they should know better = no.
This BMB is actually WAY less snarky than my last. Lol. I tend to sympathize with people who are posting cause they're scared, because I've been there and rational thought isn't always present in those times, but others I just shake my head, sit back, and enjoy the snark.
Contour makeup. Who actually has time for that? I just don't get it.
I love makeup and I spend about an hour every morning on hair and makeup, it's my zen me-time. However heavy Kardashian level contour looks insane in broad daylight. And you can add "instagram eyebrows" to my list of current beauty trends that are going to look SO dated in five years.
Yes, my makeup time is my "me" time where I can sit, breathe, and essentially color for a little while lol. However, I can't quite contour for the life of me but I also don't have time to sculpt my face either. What's going on there? I don't know. I'm sticking to my eyeshadows, mascaras and lipsticks.
My makeup is "what can I get done to not look so tired before the toddler starts throwing his toys over the baby gate". I don't understand people who spend more time in the bathroom doing their face than they do anything else in their day. I don't get conturing, brushing in brows, giant lashes etc and I never will.
My UO is that I don't like getting clothes for my DD. I recognize that this makes me sound incredibly ungrateful and I know many people do love receiving clothing as gifts, but while I do appreciate the gesture, all I can think of is that it's adding to my laundry pile. And that makes me ragey.
I love it, but I purposefully tell people a size up so I can stash it away for later instead of getting 50 shirts in one size.
My UO for the day is that I actually don't mind political posts on FB. i look at FB as someone's forum to post what they're up to and what they think, and during election season, that is going to include political posts. I've seen so many people talking about not using FB until after the election is over or that they're going to block people because their views are "stupid" (according to them) and I just think it's petty.
I have a few (hopefully not limited to just one a week). One UO is that I do not like seeing the same response or answer mentioned five times in the same thread. I've seen this when the gender/sex confusion happens. I think it is good to clarify and learn, but I stop reading for other insights when I see the same lecture by different people. This UO is not just to that thread topic alone, it was just an example. Freaking 'like' the correct answer and move on.
The other UO is that I'd love the ability to vote to delete threads where the title of the thread doesn't help explain what is in the actual thread. It's like a bad whammy. Don't be a drama llama or whatever you all want to call it on here, but I tend to ignore/avoid posters who use bad/incorrect/vague titles for their threads.
My UO is women who use pregnancy as an excuse. Don't get me wrong there are legitimate limitations/ precautions but saying you can't do something because of pregnancy instead of being an adult and admitting you don't WANT to do the thing is ridiculous. "I can't do detention because I'm pregnant"- she was 12 weeks at the time.
Edit: holy run on sentence. Tried to fix and I just can't.
My UO might be a bit judgemental. I am surprised at the women who workout and exercise regularly before pregnancy, but as soon as they find out they're pregnant--they stop. I don't get it. Pregnancy isn't an excuse to stop working out. Wouldn't you be working out even more knowing you're going to have to be really strong and healthy when delivery time comes?

Hi. I was working out before pregnancy and have had a really hard time getting back to the gym. Some of it stems from an irrational fear that I'll somehow harm the baby, but mostly I'm just tired or bloated, neither of which make working out appealing. but I'm hopeful that I will start again soon since I know that being fit is helpful during labor, but I don't think it's necessary to be so hard on moms that have their reasons for not hitting the gym as much.
I don't like pastels and light colors. I like bold, heavily saturated colors. I wear a lot of jewel tones and blacks. And baby stuff is just usually in colors that I do not like! Assuming my opinion couldn't be too popular or there'd be more variety that suits me.

Its awesome when pregnant you feel great and have energy, and also have no high risk issues or history of loss. But recognize that is not an overwhelming majority of pregnant people, and a lot of women are sick and exhausted and just trying to survive the day. Also a lot of women have had loss, and exercise becomes a somewhat irrational, but controllable variable in pregnancy. Its the "I know this isn't supposed to hurt the baby, but WHAT IF IT DOES" mindset.
I am grossed out by pregnancy-induced outie belly buttons....call them a "timer" or whatever cute thing you want, they just skeeve me out. I'm sure I'll get over it once it happens to me but until then, ick

Oh oh oh, I like your opinion! I also hate light, pastel colors.

I hate that my workouts aren't what they used to be. And it's not because of fear of hurting the baby its the sheer exhaustion I feel in doing it. I still get my butt up at 5AM most mornings but intensity is significantly less. It hasn't helped that I've been battling a cold that my pregnant self can't take any meds for.
My UO is that I hate maternity photo shoots. I think they are ridiculous. Unless it's like a family photo shoot where you happen to be pregnant - sure. But a photo shoot of just you, wearing a sheet and looking off into the distance? No.

I hate these too! My wedding photographer owes us a couple free sessions cause my husband did her landscaping. And she's been begging me to do a maternity shoot. I told her hell no! Why would I want to take pictures of myself when I'm as big as a house. I told her I'll take a pregnancy announcement photo with her and then I want a newborn/family session after the baby is born.
Yep! It's just so AWish. My mom isn't on Facebook and I showed her a family friend's daughter who did one and she was laughing hysterically. She had no idea that was a thing...I have ONE photo of me pregnant from last time. And it will never see the light of day on any sort of social media.

This is me. And it's because this is my first time ever being pregnant and I'm scared to death of having a MC. Sure, the entire internet says I can still do whatever I was doing before, but until I hear those words out of my doctor's mouth, I'll be toning it down quite a bit. Better safe than sorry.
Also, pregnancy is not an "excuse" for me. I would LOVE to be doing all the things I did before. Fatigue hasn't set in yet, so I'm just over here with all this energy waiting on a medical professional to tell me I can train for 90+ minutes a day, 6 days a week safely.

I'm so torn about working out. I used to be a gym rat and then had an injury so I was basically just majorly restricting calories so I wouldn't gain while recovering. Since I hadn't been working out fror a while prior to my BFP, I'm hesitant to start back now, especially after my CP in November. My injury is healed and I was just ready to get back at it and now I don't know what to do. I'm gonna start slow with some yoga and go from there but I wasn't even doing that prior to getting pregnant so I'm just sitting over here eating and worrying and trying to convince myself it's "just bloat". *sigh*

@MRSCORKER - I did yoga last night and I was surprised at how uncomfortable it was. First of all, I needed to fart pretty much through the entire class. I noticed gas was one of your symptoms, as well, so be prepared for that! And the transition into cobra completely wrecked my boobs. I've read several articles about not lying flat on your back for prolonged periods of time, so at the end of the class during shavasana, I just hung out in lotus.
I did spin class last night and felt completely safe, although, I did tone it down a bit to keep my heart rate under 140ish. Maybe you could try that?
Aside from spin, I'm just doing a whole lot of walking and toned down Zumba. If the doctor gives me the okay, I hope to get back to running and kickboxing.
@CopperBoom86 Thanks! I'm going to a pregnancy yoga class even though I'm no where near showing. I just think it will allow for more flexibility and variations on poses and I can explain my situation to the instructor and hopefully get some feedback about level of intensity. If that feels ok, I might try the elliptical a bit or power walk on the treadmill. I Used to run but it's been a while so there's no way I'm getting back to that. I'm just so nervous.

Dude, I couldn't get myself up at 5AM BEFORE I got pregnant! My new year's resolution was to: become a morning workout person. So far, it isn't happening. I'm sticking to my lunch workouts and after work workouts. I'm really in awe of people who get up and workout that early though. I think you're doing an awesome job just by going!

I understand @CopperBoom86 ... I too have irrational fears about working out. It's funny because I haven't told friends...and yet I've told my trainers... just to be sure. You know? I still go and workout 4x a week, but have definitely toned it down.
@MRSCORKER , sorry to hear about your injury! You should take it easy! Yoga sounds good.... but isn't there a rule about not having your head lower than your heart when working out while pregnant? Just don't know if it applies only after the 2nd trimester though. One of my trainers was telling me this....
@CopperBoom86: i laughed at your yoga farting statement. Hahaha. But like you, I also love spin. There's a class I take that does 25 minutes on the bike then 25 minutes on the reformer. Wish I could afford to take that class everyday!

I'm sure, since it's a pregnancy yoga class, the instructor will follow all of the rules and I'll follow her lead. That's why I'm not going to the usual class that I used to go to, I don't know the rules!

@annabenanna it started when I was pregnant with my DD. My body didn't let me sleep past 5 AM. Then after that I didn't have any other time to do it that didn't take away from my time with her. A love the habit now.
My UO is a bit of a PSA: If you think your symptoms are bad enough to go to the ER, you shouldn't be posting on here about it, you should be on your way. If you think you have time to post and ask questions before going to the ER, you probably aren't bad enough to need to be there. Not a huge deal, just really think people need to understand what the ER is for... EMERGENCIES
I seriously wish people would stop using this board as a medical advice platform as well. If you have serious problems no random Internet stranger can help you without knowing your medical history. Asking for support is one thing asking medical advice is a whole other thing.
