  • I despise companies who thinks socializing with your colleagues should be a 'thing'. Especially after-hours. And I get really bitchy about it - like uncontrollably so.
ohhhh my goodness yes. I'm not an overly social person to begin with, but at 5pm I want to HOME, darnit. I don't want to chit-chat with coworkers at some happy hour.

I will go to extreme lengths to avoid making a phone call. I'm not referring to talking with friends and family, but something like ordering a pizza or making a dentist appointment.. just no. I have the phone number for an in-home daycare that I think will be perfect for us, but I am dreading having to make a phone call about it.
I'm the same way.  The combination of my job and I guess just getting older has made it better, at least!  But it's still pretty sad.

I despise making phone calls too. I do my best to make my hubby make them.

DH prefers me to make them. He's better at ordering online though (I get scared of the numbers and a sudden onset of dyslexia).
  • Up until about 26 weeks, Dr. Pepper on ice (to water it down, naturally) was my go-to liquid.  Which is sad considering I drink maybe 1 soda/week when not pregnant.

Weird color hair (blue, green, purple) makes me physically nauseous and I have been known to gag around people with unnatural color hair. #sorrynotsorry
I would *love* to dye my hair a weird color (I did back in high school all the time), but DH would kill me. There's so much cool stuff out there now- mermaid hair, Galaxy hair, metallic hair.....wish I could try them out!
  • I'm dreading spending the day with my MIL tomorrow. We're doing the 3d ultrasound, then lunch, then DD's basketball game, then DH's grandma's bday dinner hours after that. So it's not one on one time. She's fine. I just like my own time on the weekend.
  • I had a skunk stripe of forest green hair down the middle of my head when I was in high school. It's in my senior pictures and it's one of the very, very few teenage fashion decisions I don't regret. Could never do it these days now that I'm old and lame, of course, but it was pretty fun back then.

Dr. Pepper when pregnant is the best!!!!! I rarely drank it before and now its my go-to
  • I'm having some mild anxiety over the first week post partum. I'm finding myself already stressing about too many people in my house touching my babies and just how little and new they will be. I feel a little bad but at the same time, I want to not really have visitors the first week. Especially my MIL.
  • I woke up at 5AM on Sunday morning to order bow headbands from Australia before they sold out and spent waaaay too much money on them. I'd feel guilty except I'm obsessed with them and can't wait for baby girl to be here and wear them. H was shocked but supportive and just asked me to please not buy any more bows. #sorrynotsorry

I had blue hair as a teenager and it was awesome. Hate all you want. :P

  • I was craving Chinese today and since our offer on the house we wanted was accepted and we are now under contract I went to celebrate. I did the to go buffet at the place near work and it was a HUGE disappointment. It didn't even have half the choices as the one near my house and it wasn't very good. Now I still feel hungry and very disappointed. I'm never going back there.

I've wondered if you ordered bows from her. I love her stuff and haven't found anything comparable. But her restock time is 2am my time. Maybe this weekend I should keep my wallet on my nightstand and if I get up to pee in the middle of the night, I can place an order.

I set my alarm for 4:55 like a maniac. I do think her stuff is special which is why I don't regret it. I noticed that it took a good two or three hours to sell out so if you wake up any time after 2 you should be fine! Crazy like me but fine.

Ok what bow place is this?! I have tons saved from etsy but these sound like they must be extra special
  • @Sunshinebins it's called Bonnie & Harlo. Their website is closed except on Sunday's when they restock, to see their stuff it's best to find them on Instagram!

  • Yesterday my feet hurt after walking around so I stopped in a baby boutique on my way home to "test out" gliders. I own a glider from this place already, I was just tired and wanted a break. I stayed for 20 minutes pretending to care about the sales pitch while I checked my phone. I finally bought a book for DS
  • Already thinking of excuses to get out of going to the superbowl party at DH's uncle's house. I really do not want to go out and have his entire side of the family comment on my stomach and ask a bazillion questions since I haven't seen them since I got KU. Plus I can't eat after 6pm, since I am fasting for my 3 hr test on Monday. DH will most likely have to attend this by himself and ill be home in my sweats.
  • We booked flights for our last get away probably for a long time towards the end of Feb. (Ready for warm weather and sandy beaches)  The guilt is killing me because we really need to add a wall to make another beroom because right now all of out closet stuff is in the spare room (our bedtoom is literally only big enough for our queen bed) and spare room is going to be baby's room.
We just remodeled our kitchen (DH built it himself) but now we really would like a dishwasher and a microwave to go above the stove...Here is the list of the big expenses we really would like to have soon/need. Obviously baby items come first.

    Dishwasher
    Microwave
    Kitchen sink
    Make third bedroom
    Would love a new sofa
    Baby's crib
    Carseat
Dressers (no closets in this house)

But instead we are going on  beach vaca (state side)..DH and I have always been responsible with our money so this is just way out of our normal... gahhh the guilt lol

I turn 30 two months after LO is born and I would LOVE to dye my hair a nice purple color (maybe the mermaid style?). It may look stupid, I could regret it, but hey I could blame it on a mid life crisis or my PP hormones right?! :)

One thing I love about being pregnant is that it's a built-in excuse to not do anything I don't want to do.

I haven't had real morning sickness in at least two and a half months, but hell if I don't lie about it all the time. Also I have all these mysterious "food aversions" that just happen to coincide with things I don't want to eat anyway. I guess that part's not really lying -- I do have a pronounced aversion to, say, sour cream -- but it has nothing to do with being knocked up and everything to do with I just don't like sour cream.
    THIS. AMEN

I pinned a gorgeous purple color like a year ago...if only I had the guts to do it.

Sunshinebins Hey Lady - you are the Mama and you set the rules!  I totally get that you want time with your babes all to your self for as long as you want!   You have to communicate your wants and needs - that is the hard part, right?!
...and later you will want friends and family to come over - sometimes just to talk, and sometimes so you can go to the grocery store without the twins.  or just walk the aisles at Target by yourself.
My DH was super busy between 6-9months of the twins' lives, and I still thank my MIL for coming over for 2-3hrs twice a week.  I felt so blessed to have her nearby!

eta: PS, sometimes I still have to give myself the "You're the Mama!" pep-talk and the twins are almost 2!  At a recent family outing, they were eating  way too much junk food.  I went along with it for a while, but when it was time, I said, "we're done eating!"  and in-laws quit giving them food.  It wasn't malicious at all, just multiple people giving them so much food.

I think I just stress over feeling out of control, especially with the ILs. My own family I am way more comfortable telling to stop or whatever

Instead of worrying about sensible things like "how do I set this futurebaby on the path to lifelong health and happiness" or even like "how do I change its diapers without killing the thing," most of my amorphous Future Parenting Concerns are things like "how do I make him not grow up to be a douchewaffle."

Also every time I see somebody with legit terrible manners, I think "how do I make the futurebaby not be that person." Apparently that is my go-to judgy thought these days.
That is completely sensible; it blows my mind how rude and self-centered kids (and adults!) are nowadays. I can't believe what their parents let them get away with.

For example, my dad is watching a friend's 2 children, and their 6 year old boy pees wherever he wants. Outside, in the house, wherever. If they throw a tantrum in a store, their mom will buy them hundreds of dollars (yes, hundreds) worth of toys to shut them up. Thank God my dad doesn't put up with that bullshit when he watches them.

    I absolutely agree!
I think this is why I already started having this "what if" conversation with DH.  If we don't have a nicu baby this time around, do we want visitors at the hospital?  Do we want my family (out of towners) to stay with us?  DH doesn't enjoy the "what if" game as much as I do, but I think we need to be on the same page!

I also know that if I verbalize to him, I am that much more likely to stand up for what I (or we) want with the rest of the family!

I'm a first time mom, so perhaps I'm being naive, but is it really that hard to get your kids to act civilized?

My niece and nephew are generally well-behaved in public, and I don't think my brother and SIL are magical super-parents.

We had the same internal struggle when it came to going on our honeybabymoon last month or putting that money towards maternity leave and baby stuff.  So if it makes you feel any better, we decided that spending the time together before the baby came and the experience of a honeymoon was just as important as all the stuff that needed to get done.  We figured that we're always going to have bills and there's always something that needs to be bought/done, and taking together time wasn't something that we wanted to start neglecting.  Hope that helps your guilt!!
