Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Sinus congestion is creating mucous issues again. Ugh. And the restless leg stuff.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Next is drawer lines in the dresser and sorting through DS's infant clothes
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? I didn't really have one. I wasn't allowed to listen to much until I was in high school so I just listened to popular radio but didn't really have favorites.
DS 9/2/13 was a BFP from an IUI! Triplets due 6/29/16 also from an IUI!
How far along are you? 21+6. Holy shit I can't believe we're at 22 weeks tomorrow already.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: It's Friday! Woop. Impatiently waiting for baby to start kicking more. I felt a few "jabs" randomly over the last few weeks, but mostly it's just flutters. I feel like I'm a human minnow bag.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Slowly getting started on baby's room and finishing up registry items. I was going to repurpose a dresser for a changing table, but then H said it wouldn't be as easy as I was hoping for what I wanted to do with it. Long story short, I'd end up spending more money to repurpose it than I would just buying a new one. After doing some looking, I found one on Zulily yesterday for $120, and it looks almost exactly like what I envisioned the re-purposed dresser looking like...so we now have a changing table!
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? I was a Backstreet Boys girl fo sho.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant: This lady in my office keeps yawning so f***ing loud. Literally every 15 seconds! I'm trying to hard not to lose my shit!! Another rant: I have a 20 page case study due Tuesday that I need to do this weekend. Rave: I love feeling baby move. Also it's Friday! Symptoms: RLP, heartburn, the norm
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Making H come up with names because he hates all of my names I pick
Questions?
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? I was totally an N'sync lover! And Britney Spears!
@mrsschmity A human minnow bag! Haha! I love that...so accurate! And yay for a changing table! You're on a roll this week!
How far along are you? 19 + 6
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant...I woke up with a headache & sore throat. I hope the sore throat is just from mouth breathing (maybe?) last night, & it doesn't actually turn into anything. And I am SO sore from water yoga last night! Rave...I have the next few Fridays off, apparently, so it's a long weekend for me! Woohoo! Symptoms...headache & RLP. Everything else seems good today!
What are you doing to prepare for baby? I think H & I might try to put the crib together today. This could really turn into a disaster, lol...but we usually do really well building things together.
Questions? Not today
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? Backstreet Boys, hands down! I may or may not still be a fan
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant: Heartburn all the time now it seems. Rave: TGIF!!! Getting pumped for Superbowl Sunday! Symptoms: Heartburn - morning, noon, and night. Ugh. Probably shouldn't have had that pop tart just now.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Going to another Mazda dealership tomorrow to see what we can do to get a SUV for the right price. Finalizing the baby registry and probably putting together a list for the baby shower. Went to Target yesterday to get the goody bag and they were out Will try another Target tomorrow if one is on the way.
Questions?
Does anyone else get pain under their left ribs after eating a meal? I'm wondering if my stomach is being smushed up there. It only starts to hurt after eating a meal (from what I've noticed) and then seems to go away a couple hours later. It's uncomfortable.
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? Bush and No Doubt were my favorite bands once I really discovered music. But also pop stuff like N'sync, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Xtina, etc.

Sorry to everyone dealing with heartburn I honestly don't even know if I know what heartburn feels like...I don't think I've ever had it before. I'm assuming if I did, it would be obvious.
@MrsB8214 Uggh, the names. We still haven't decided on a possible girls name yet.
@DeePaddy24 I seem to have days/weeks where I feel super productive, and then some days where it's the complete opposite. So when I feel productive I just go at it full force and get shit done lol Good luck on getting the crib set up!!
@BakerBird525 What is this goody back you speak of from Target??
Rant: DS gave me his cold officially. Slept like crap and I have a few sales meetings today, so that should be fun Rave: It's Friday! My friend from out of town is coming this weekend and I'm so excited! I haven't seen her in over a year! Symptoms: Getting bigger. And exhausted, but pretty sure that's just because of the cold.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Getting a projector from work so I can make the next art piece for the nursery
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? Totally N'Sync and Britney Spears! In high school, it turned to John Mayer and he's still my favorite.
@mrsb8214 - sounds like someone needs to go get herself a cup of coffee and stop yawning annoyingly! @mrsschmity - nice steal on the changing table! And yay to not having to do much work for it @DeePaddy24 & @Huskerfanz glad to see I'm not the only one catching things. Hopefully we all feel better soon!
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rave: The bulk of our bathroom plumbing was finished yesterday!!! Now on to drywall and tiling! Very happy the plumbing is 90% done.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? More bathroom remodel stuff.
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? I didn't listen to much when I was young, young. In high school, I'd say it was Joni Mitchell. I just loved her songs.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Cramping, stretching, random twinges of pain. Pregnancy is fun. Oh, and my back hurts! But my teenager acne is clearing up! Rant: Nothing today because... Rave: It's Friday! And it's Superbowl weekend, which means deliciously unhealthy food and the Puppy Bowl!
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Headed to Target tomorrow to see some of our registry stuff! And possibly buying some sort of body pillow because my knees/hips hurt this morning. I'm just worried that it will not fit into to our queen-sized bed that already accommodates me, my broad husband, and 120 pounds of dogs.
Questions? Any recommendations on a body pillow that's NOT a snoogle? I feel like those are just so huge!
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? I was a Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls pre-teen; but as a kid, I could always listen to my dad's Classic rock! Female rock singers were my jam!
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Slept through the night. What?!
Quad screen and cystic fibrosis carrier tests were negative. Woohoo!
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Registry continues, and is mostly done except for switching out some overpriced gadgety things the BBB guy tried to talk us into, and finding furniture. Also, need to spread the BBB list among Target and/or Amazon.
Working on a baby blanket that'll be done in May at this rate.
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? Backstreet Boys. Love the gif @DeePaddy24! An old BSB song came on the radio the other day when I was in the car with H. Haven't heard that song in at least 15 years, but knew and sang all the words (much to H's enjoyment...). Boom, still got it. BSB 4 eva. Britney (duh) No Doubt Alanis Morissette Dave Matthews Band
@DeePaddy24 - Good luck with crib building! H and I haven't tackled ours yet...its going to be a disaster when we do...lol
@mrsschmity - Yeah for changing table? Pictures please?
@MrsB8214 - Ugh, go get that woman a coffee so she shuts up already. I'm in the same boat with you, H hates the names I like so I'm making him come to the table with a list of 20, I'll come with a list of 20 and we can sort through our mutual lists together.
@BakerBird525 - Hmmm, no pain near the ribs for me but it probably is a combination of lack of space for baby and heartburn. Did you do anything to pull something lately?
@tjenkins528 - I'm sorry you caught the cold. Being pregnant and sick = zero fun.
@Huskerfanz sorry to hear about your sinuses! @BakerBird525 I remember being quite into Bush and No Doubt back in the day as well @DeePaddy24 My husband did the crib solo. Building stuff together, just like canoeing together, is NOT great for our marriage
How far along are you? 20 weeks tomorrow- woot woot!
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rave: Hopefully have some "me time" tomorrow as my FIL and hubs are going to do various outings with my daughter. I have a couple of boring errands to do, but am also doing a little shopping and a little gym-ing. Rant: About to give a rather poor performance review to a very confrontational and self-righteous staff member. It's because of his poor communication that I have to give him such a bad review but, man, not looking forward to the next half hour. Second Rant: My daughter seemed a little off this morning and MAY be coming down with something- really hope that doesn't happen as I've taken so much time off work lately and taking more to hang out with a sick and cranky toddler sounds really unappealing.
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? Depends what you consider a kid... I've been a broadway nerd almost as long as I could talk, but I definitely got into mid-90s grunge when I was starting to listen to the radio.
Update to rant (because I know you're all on the edge of your seats--- yeah right)- the dude didn't show up for his performance review meeting! Wtf? He's not the scared type, so I take it he just forgot. So I guess I have that to look forward to another time- he's teaching the rest of the day. I at least wanted to get it over with since I'm having one of those precious "feeling awake and not nauseated" mornings.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Baby was kicking up a storm last night and gave me a strong kick right above my belly button that actually startled me. Guess my little flutters are turning into bigger movements now! Also visited the chiro and massage therapist yesterday and they worked on my back and IT band and I feel sooooo much better today.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Started nailing down a date and ideas for a baby shower with my mom and sister. Also planning a babymoon weekend getaway. Didn't realize that the weekend we first picked was Easter, woops! So rescheduling for the next weekend. Planning to hitup the spa at the hotel we're booking for a couples massage and a pedicure. I seriously can't wait. Also starting to look at names since we know we're having a girl now as well as working on the registry.
Questions? Any good resource (websites/books etc) anyone can recommend about what you ACTUALLY should register for. I was going through Amazon and it was completely overwhelming as a FTM.
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? I wasn't into pop music, born and raised on rock. So I loved Stevie Ray Vaughn, Pearl Jam, The Bodeans, Dave Matthews Band, and my first cd was Smashing Pumpkins' Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness.
@mkemommy & @SMLmom We usually have a pretty good system for building furniture (I read the directions & organize everything...he just assembles)...but I feel like doing something for the baby puts so much more pressure on us. I'll let you know how it goes! And I would never dream of sharing a canoe with H...hahahaha...one of us would end up in the water so fast. We stick to kayaking..in separate kayaks!
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Today is just one big rant. I work out of town, so I commute roughly an hour. I had to be there extra early today, so I had to get up early and I slept terribly so I was feeling sick from the moment I got up. I got 20 minutes into my commute when I threw up and I couldn't pull over in time, so I threw up all over myself and the car. I couldn't salvage my outfit so I had to go home. So now I'm very late for work. I finally get to work, and I grab my purse and realize immediately that my water bottle wasn't securely fastened and now everything in my bag is drenched: my laptop, my makeup, my wallet. WTF FRIDAY. THIS IS NOT TGIF.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Gestating.
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? I had terrible taste in music as a kid, so I almost want to opt out of this. BSB > Nsync, Britney > Christina and I have always had a soft spot for Raine Maida and Our Lady Peace.
@tjenkins528 Have fun with your friend this weekend! @Kballew10 I am also tempted to get a body pillow for the same reasons. Let me know if you find a good one! @crdo Glad to hear all the test results came back good! @mkemommy Woo for home renovations! This is the changing table I ordered yesterday - I will likely paint it a darker color to match the crib, but haven't decided yet.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Symptoms are not too bad....by the end of the work day I am extremely tired and just want my couch! Yesterday DH cooked dinner while I just lounged on the couch catching up on my DVR shows! Rave: My little girl kicks and jabs are definitely getting stronger. Sometimes her kicks actually hurt if she aim just right. I can feel her higher up than before. I felt maybe and arm just equal with my or a little past my belly button. She is having some real fun in there now!! I love every minute of it!
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Today my best friend which is our family photographer will start my pregnancy picture journal. Start purchasing wall decor for nursery. Her crib bedding should arrive Wednesday!!! EAT EAT EAT EAT did I say EAT!!!
Questions? n/a
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? Color Me Bad and Boyz II Men
Rant: I'm surprisingly not feeling rant-y today (Friday must have me in a good mood)! Rave: Finally Friday! This is the first weekend in 2016 that we haven't had houseguests and something to do, so I'm really looking forward to a relaxing weekend! Symptoms: I learned last night that I no longer like spicy food. Heartburn after thai food that i usually love was horrible!
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Starting our registries this weekend!
Questions?
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? As a young kid, New Kids on the Block, all the way. When i was a bit older I loved N*Sync.
@cmillar36- That's awful! I hope they get back to you soon and I hope it's good news!
@arteduc8 - I used the "checklist" tool on Target and just ignored the things I thought were a waste. And then I asked my sister and SIL for their advice on some stuff, like infant car seats/stroller combos.
@MrsAlliKat I remember pregnancy heartburn well from my last time through it. It hasn't hit me too badly yet but I remember trying to max out on dinner dates with my hubs before the baby came and always being too heart-burny to enjoy my fave foods. You have my sympathies!
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant: Apparently in DH's family it is tradition for the grandmother to hold the baby first...as in his maternal grandmother held him BEFORE his mother did! I should have known it was going to be bad when he said "Can I ask you something without you getting mad?". Moving forward the answer to that is going to be "Probably not...". We worked through the fact that NO ONE is holding my baby before I am and then he asked if we could compromise by letting his mom hold the baby before anyone else besides us. If my mom is at the hospital I am not walking past her with my baby just so his mom can hold her first. Am I being unreasonable? I don't think so. Rave: It's Friday so tomorrow I don't have to wake up at 4:30AM for work! Symptoms: Not many this week and actually LO is rolling around less than usual this week which is making me paranoid.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Carpet is being steam cleaned today, painting was finished yesterday, and tomorrow we are putting together furniture. We are finally making some progress!
Questions? None at this time.
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? That is tough, I have always loved all kinds of music (oldies, country, pop, R&B). My first CD ever was Chumbawamba- Tubthumper (embarassing) but I also really liked Mariah Carey, BSB, Robyn, Ludacris, and basically anyone who did a song with Ja Rule We are naming our daughter after an oldies song by Looking Glass so I guess they need to be on here to since I was obsessed with the song as a kid for no great reason.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: No symptoms really (finally). Rave- Just got back from our anatomy scan and the doctor said everything looks magnificent (her words, not mine) and that it's definitely a GIRL, so one for team pink here. Just don't tell my MIL because she'll flip a shit and buy every pink item in the stores since she FINALLY has a girl to buy stuff for. Also kind of excited to not have to deal with planning/orchestrating a bris 8 days after the baby's born. Rant-Figured out that the reason I can only feel her moving on one side of my stomach is that I have a partially anterior placenta. Not a huge deal, just good to know that she does more than sit in that one position and kick me, she kicks me all over, I just can't feel it.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Planning out a probably overambitious quilt to make. It'll be the one girly she has since we aren't sharing the sex and plan to buy as much gender neutral as possible to be able to reuse it for future babies.
Questions?
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? Backstreet boys all the way.
@catherinekate - Sounds like you need to call in and go back to bed.
@MeganF08 - That's a weird tradition and I would also NOT be on board. Me or H is holding our baby first and I wouldn't expect you to prioritize moms just to please one of them. Time for that tradition to end.
@MeganF08 totally not unreasonable, you give the baby to whoever you want to first and if that's your mom, not his mom, so be it. They'll be plenty of baby hugs to go around in the coming years, insisting on "I held them first" bragging rights is just juvenile to me.
Rant/Rave/Symptoms: Rant: My dogs could not sync their bladders last night! I got up three times to let them use the restroom on top of getting up when I needed to go! Rave: I'm so excited it's Friday because we are going to start cleaning out LO's potential bedroom this weekend! Symptoms: I think I have heartburn at night sometimes when I'm laying flat, I've never had it before, but that's what I'm guessing this is. Also, tons of pressure super low, LO is smooshed down low right on top of my cervix.
What are you doing to prepare for baby? Out of no where this week one of DH's cousins offered us all of their baby furniture because they are done having children, and one of my cousins said she has 7 bags of little girl clothes that she wants to bring me to sort through, so I'm super excited about picking all of that up.
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? I was an N'Sync girl, I also loved Alanis Morisette, Avril Lavigne , & NIckelback.
Rants/Raves/Symptoms: It's been a terrible week. H got some shit news about HIS job now and he had a full on meltdown yesterday and I had to get real with him about some shit. It ended up being a good talk, though. Hopefully it'll spark some motivation for him to get the ball rolling on something he likes to do or at least somewhere he can grow a career. He gets complacent too easily. Also my coworker called me last night and said she's submitting her letter of resignation today so I'm very nervous about going into work this morning. I'm grateful she gave me a heads up though and truthfully, I am happy for her. I'm trying not to stress but H could possibly be losing pay if he doesn't find a new job and my boss literally might be forced to shut his doors now (he's 70 and seriously needs to anyway but God this is a bad time). TGIF.
GTKY: Who or what was your favorite singer or band as a kid? N'Sync. "This I Promise You" may have been my first dance song.
It was a cover though. I couldn't get H to agree to the original. Grr.....
I'll be back later to respond to you all when I'm hiding in my office.
@Sgoldberg247 - Yes, it is ridiculous! His mom actually brought up the subject to me at dinner last weekend and said that her mother used to brag all the time that she held my husband before his own mother. MIL, FIL, and DH all think that it's hilarious that she was so proud of it. I was the only one at the table not laughing and I muttered something about punching someone in the face if they tried to hold my baby before me. I have been trying to push for no one to even come see us until after we have had our hour of skin to skin in the hospital but they aren't going for that either...
@ahernandez16 so sorry to hear about all the job-related drama! Hopefully, as you say, your hubs can move in a positive direction and one day you'll look back at how it was all meant to be, but that doesn't make the present any easier.
I have been trying to push for no one to even come see us until after we have had our hour of skin to skin in the hospital but they aren't going for that either...
I hope that people will listen to your wishes and wait until you are ready for them! I decided I don't want anyone at the hospital when I'm in labor and we will invite them when I'm ready. It went over really well with my family and they are supportive. H is supposed to tell his dad, and I dont think he's going to be happy, but the moment should be about our new family of 3, not making sure FIL gets what he wants. Good luck!
@Sgoldberg247 Congrats on Team Pink!! That's so exciting!
@ahernandez16 That is the most stressful thing I've read all day! Hugs to you, I wish you could have a glass of wine after work, it sounds like you deserve it!
@Kballew10 - I have a snoogle and also have my husband, two pittie mixes, a chihuahua, and at least a cat or two in bed every night. It feels bulky at first but I have to fight the dogs for it before bed and they find a way to each get at least a part of their bodies on it every night so they make it work. I usually wake up sharing the part under my head with at least one pittie face
@ahernandez16- Job stress is very difficult during pregnancy, especially if you are both being hit with it at the same time. I hope everything works out for both of you!
@mrsschmity: If you go to Guest Service at Target and tell them you just set up a baby registry and ask for a good bag, they should automatically know to give you one. It's not advertised anywhere from what I know, I just heard about it on TB. Sure enough, the lady knew what we were talking about but they were all out of them. I've heard they're really good though! Also, cute changing table! Um..and I really want to check out Zulily now. I need some maxi dresses for Miami...
@ahernandez16: Sorry to hear about all the job stress. Good that you and H had a productive talk about it, and I hope a good situation shakes out for you both soon.
@MeganF08: 1. That's a facking weird tradition. Hell no. 2. If you don't want any visitors until a certain time, then that's the law. The end. I can't believe people are pushing back so hard with you! It's not their choice, and it's just too damn bad if they don't like it. I'd just make the boundary perfectly clear with family, and ask the medical staff to absolutely not let any visitors in under any circumstances until you're ready. I'm sure they've dealt with pushy family more than once, so it won't be unfamiliar territory to them.
H is supposed to tell his dad, and I dont think he's going to be happy, but the moment should be about our new family of 3, not making sure FIL gets what he wants. Good luck!
I agree that it would be awesome if they would just ASK you and listen to your wishes... Does your hospital have a policy for visitors? Maybe you can get them to keep all visitors out until then. Blame it on the policy if you don't want confrontation!
Edit: My brain is fried... it's time for the weekend.

Rant/Rave/Symptoms:
Slept through the night.
BSB 4 eva.
Britney (duh)
No Doubt
Alanis Morissette
Dave Matthews Band
Edit: can't spell on Fridays
Rants Still the same. Today is Effing Day 19. I never thought I would have to wait this long in limbo.
Raves Snowstorm this weekend. Which means weather will turn warmer for a day or two.
GTKY Backstreet boys
@mrsschmity - Yeah for changing table? Pictures please?
@MrsB8214 - Ugh, go get that woman a coffee so she shuts up already. I'm in the same boat with you, H hates the names I like so I'm making him come to the table with a list of 20, I'll come with a list of 20 and we can sort through our mutual lists together.
@BakerBird525 - Hmmm, no pain near the ribs for me but it probably is a combination of lack of space for baby and heartburn. Did you do anything to pull something lately?
@tjenkins528 - I'm sorry you caught the cold.
@BakerBird525 I remember being quite into Bush and No Doubt back in the day as well
@DeePaddy24 My husband did the crib solo. Building stuff together, just like canoeing together, is NOT great for our marriage
How far along are you? 20 weeks tomorrow- woot woot!
Rant/Rave/Symptoms:
Rave: Hopefully have some "me time" tomorrow as my FIL and hubs are going to do various outings with my daughter.
21+2
Rant/Rave/Symptoms:
Baby was kicking up a storm last night and gave me a strong kick right above my belly button that actually startled me.

@arteduc8 - I used the "checklist" tool on Target and just ignored the things I thought were a waste. And then I asked my sister and SIL for their advice on some stuff, like infant car seats/stroller combos.
My first CD ever was Chumbawamba- Tubthumper (embarassing) but I also really liked Mariah Carey, BSB, Robyn, Ludacris, and basically anyone who did a song with Ja Rule
@MeganF08 - That's a weird tradition and I would also NOT be on board. Me or H is holding our baby first and I wouldn't expect you to prioritize moms just to please one of them. Time for that tradition to end.
How far along are you? 22+4
@gray51015 - Hooray for free stuff!
@ahernandez16 - Best of luck with all of the job issues... that sounds rough.
@Sgoldberg247 Congrats on Team Pink!! That's so exciting!
@ahernandez16 That is the most stressful thing I've read all day! Hugs to you, I wish you could have a glass of wine after work, it sounds like you deserve it!
@ahernandez16- Job stress is very difficult during pregnancy, especially if you are both being hit with it at the same time. I hope everything works out for both of you!
@Sgoldberg247 : Congrats on the baby GIRL!!
@MeganF08 : I've never heard of that tradition and I don't think you are being unreasonable at all!

My Chart
@MeganF08:
ETA:
Congrats on team pink @Sgoldberg247!!
Edit: My brain is fried... it's time for the weekend.
