The U/S tech was able to see it was a boy at 16 weeks. We already knew because we did Verifi, but she pointed everything out. With DD, I didn't know until the anatomy scan, but I also wasn't being monitored as frequently as I am this time. A lot has to do with the angles the tech can get as well.
I found out at 41 weeks. I could have found out at 19 weeks. This baby, I will find out when he/she is born, but I will have the same anatomy scan that I did last time, between 18-20 weeks.
Also,@meanttobe35 don't come on a thread to stir the pot. I'm a ftm and it took me a day to figure out tone. It's pretty rude to do exactly what you did then report someone? Grow up.
It actually wasn't me that reported you, I don't even know what you posted. I've never reported anyone on this site, there must be other people on here that didn't like what you said.
I actually didn't say anything until right now, pay attention. Which I'm going to assume you're not anyway because you seem to no clue what you're doing on this bmb besides stiring the pot.
Ugh. I feel bad for the OP, they have no idea how badly they are going to get attacked for a simple, incorrectly worded question, there is a VERY good chance their doctor used the word gender, and that is what they are repeating, so please give them a break. It REALLY makes it hard to ask anything on this board for fear of getting attacked. People say this board is mean for a reason, and if you don't think it is, it is probably you.
And if you are going to ask "who are you?" or tell me to leave if I don't like it just remember that I am a FTM and I am anxious and looking for info like many woman on here and have very right to post when and if I want to, I don't need to post often and on everything to be valid on this board. Last time I checked they weren't giving out a prize for commenting on everyone's post, so if it annoys you or makes you eye roll or is a repeat of something that someone else asked, then please just ignore it and move on. PLEASE.
No one has been rude when talking to the op. We have been informative so that she knows because it can hurt a lot of people to think they are the same thing. You can easily tell when people truly understand what the difference is and then you can tell when people live in ignorance. Please educate yourself on the difference so when you come into contact with those it could seriously hurt you are able to use the correct term. Also no one has said you aren't valid. As a ftm I find a lot of comfort and information on this board by USING THE SEARCH FUNCTION that way I can make sure we aren't crowding the board with clutter so those who are nervous, afraid or Having problems can be seen by the group so we can offer advise and support.
Op, I will be finding out on Thursday at 19 weeks 1 day at the anatomy scan. Typically this is when you find out but there are places you can go and pay extra to see it early if you would like. Congratulations on your pregnancy and welcome to the bump!
You may not agree with the sex vs gender terminology distinction that the ladies of this board make a point to take seriously, but don't think that just because we have been through this 1000 times that no one is going to say anything about it. No one is being rude, but they are going to correct that mistake when it comes up, because whether you agree or not, it matters.
Last time we found out at 41.5 weeks. Hopefully it will be a little sooner this time. My OB office doesn't do the anatomy scan until 22 weeks though and I don't know why. I kind of think to make more money. 20 week appt., 22 week scan with follow up appt., 24 week appt. I clarified that we had to have 3 appointments that month and we can't just do the a/s one of the other times. Nope.
We found out at 15 weeks exactly that our unborn child has a penis. I am a planner and wanted to know ASAP. I am more anxious for the 20 weeker to ensure measurement and development are right on track so I am glad I already found out the sex.
People need to cool their jets. Pinterest doesn't call it a sex reveal.... Haha honestly I get the whole gender vs sex debate but there is no reason to get your panties in a bunch. We should all be posting to support each other. A lot of people and doctors included use gender.

STOP. We've already been there and done that there is no need to go and stir a pot and if you don't understand "what the big deal is" please for the love of God never speak to someone who doesn't identify with their "gender role". As a bump community we are always trying to be supportive and sometimes doing that includes informing people of correct terms so that we can keep the environment safe and comfortable for those that it does effect. No one in this thread has been rude in anyway simply informative.
I just looked up a private ultrasound clinic in my city and it actually states "Gender Reveal" so I think that you know everyone is entitled to an opinion but doesn't have to be rude about it.

They're misusing the word gender. Sounds like a class act.
Yeah I just find it interesting how some health professionals don't seem to realize the difference. I do fully understand the difference. I just think we have to accept that the social shift in terminology is not everywhere.

Actually, we don't have to accept it. In fact, when we refuse to accept such ignorance we help change society for the better. Ya know, that whole education thing, knowledge is power, teaching others so that they can help put an end to discrimination and bigotry.
Generally speaking, you're entitled to your own opinion but you are NOT entitled to your own facts. Sex and gender are not the same thing.

I am not wearing panties so I am certain they are not in a bunch. When I do end up putting on a pair, they will be my big girl ones and I will always push for using the correct terminology. I didn't know the difference myself until coming on these boards but now that I do, I can't be so ignorant as to ignore the fact that sex and gender are not interchangeable.
I found out at 14 weeks. I went and did a 4-D/hd Gender ultrasound and a week later when I went to my regular ob for ultrasound the gender was still the same ☺

As @Heathereaddy said if you know better do better. And don't stir the pot on a dying thread that is better off buried.
Editted to fix the tag and a typo.
