Re: Official Labor Watch Thread (L&D questions, concerns, and announcements)

  • @anightintunisia I also had sex right before my water broke per my doctor's advice. I was 40 weeks exactly but had not shown any progress. I really do think the sex helped!

  • @anightintunisia Can your husband's friend make a trip to Louisiana to visit my house!? Haha! Tell him I'll cook for him.

Seriously the freakiest thing ever. He should make a business out of it!

Yes sex was great at progressing things. I was completely closed and had no lose of mucus plug or bloody show.
  • 39w today. Lost my plug on Thursday. Woke up with horrible cramps at 3am. Got back to sleep an hour later but woke up again at 6 with bad cramps. Took a shower with a candle and relaxing music as I also felt nauseous and had my sister's wedding shower this morning.
Shower went well and I was moving around the whole time taking care of things but had awful cramps the whole time and some BH/maybe contractions that did not feel good.

Drank over 40 oz of water this morning.

Finally on the couch. Still having cramps that won't stop and go in waves of them getting worst. Back is sore and I'm still nauseous. Feel like I'm about go to get a bad period but clearly I'm not.

Just waiting things out. Don't want to call Doctor prematurely. Will cry if this lasts a week.
  • Welp I'm just in for the long haul at the hospital now. Checked in at 7 am, have had 3 doses of cervadil, I'm thinned out but my cervix is still really far back. But baby's head is super low so they're confident labor won't be long once I actually dilate. I've been having contractions but i really don't feel them. Still holding out, trying not to get an epidural.

Really want my labor to progress, but they got the forecast wrong in our area and now the roads are packed in snow and untreated. Also feel like I could cry at any second for no reason.  :(
  • Getting pretty ready for little one to get going... 40+4 today... Mucus plug has been going since Monday, and now I'm having menstrual like cramps and lower back pain, but it's constant. So seems like babe is just happy chilling in there. I was 1 cm on Monday and we did a membrane sweep but besides starting the plug loss it hasn't really amounted to anything.

  • 40+2. Doctor can't believe baby hasn't come yet. I'm 4cm dilated and 100% effaced. Lost my mucus plug this week too. Had contractions all day yesterday, about 10 minutes apart. Went to bed and now they're gone! Wtf. If baby doesn't come today, I have to call tomorrow to schedule an induction for Tuesday or Thursday. Really wish baby would just come on her own though!
  • Just wanted to update, I definitely progressed on Thursday night, went to the hospital and my water broke at around 12AM. Contractions got way too painful when I was 4cm dilated so I had an epidural around 2AM pushed from about 8AM until 10:30AM when baby Freya arrived :)
Craziest experience ever. I definitely didnt know my contractions all day and night on Thursday were really contractions but they eventually became very obvious.
  • I thought I was joining the labor club today but it was a false alarm! I went in to have my membranes swept and was almost a 2 and my midwife said she could stretch it to a 2. And I was 70% effaced. After that I had bad cramping in my back and pressure in my pelvis on and off the rest of the day. Then they just stopped an hour ago. So disappointed

Ok so my water just broke! Around 11:10pm. We got to the hospital only to find out she already had a bowel movement! It's going to be a while but I'm so excited!
  • So...I definitely just lost my mucus plug and my water MAY have broken? I've been feeling crampy since my cervical exam yesterday, and was just watching tv on the couch and kind of felt my stomach violently drop...when I went to the bathroom to pee a couple minutes later (tmi time) I felt something falling out of me as I got to the toilet, and when I took off my underwear the plug fell into the toilet and my underwear had fluid in it...how do I tell if the fluid is just part of the whole plug deal or if the feeling earlier was my water breaking? If it keeps leaking when I stand up? No contractions or anything, just still crampy at this point.

When the dr broke my water it was a small gush then later when I got up to use the bathroom more gushes happened. It felt like I was peeing myself but had zero control over the flow of fluid. It also gushed almost every time I moved until it was all out.

@caraboonie yeah it would definitely keep coming out as you moved. Your water will replenish itself every 3 hours so it should be leaking for a while. If you're not sure you can always have your hospital test your underwear.

  • Woke up to Braxton hicks this morning, first time feeling anything like that and hoped it was labor but its stopped. I talked to a different OB at my appointment yesterday and got some more info about the induction. I feel better about it but I'm still nervous about how it will go for me.

Basically I will go in Sunday night and they will insert a Foley bulb to help my cervix overnight since I was only 1 cm yesterday (that check hurt like crazy by the way!) and then monday morning I will get pitocin and hopefully meet baby girl soon after!

Anyone else have any experience with the Foley bulb? This was my first time learning about its use.
  • Been having contractions 5 minutes apart since 11:30. Doctor wanted is to wait until 2/3 to come in. Waiting for my mom to get to our house (she lives 90 mins away) then we're headed in

    contractions are horrible..
    But worth it

admitted around 3 am. Was 4 cm dialated. Got the epidural. Was having horrible back labor. Now we wait. :)
  • In the hospital now. Just got prepped for surgery and now playing the waiting game.

Went in for my appointment yesterday at 40+1 and the ultrasound estimated my baby at 9lbs, 15oz. My OB, who is very pro-VBAC, said it's too risky to try for a VBAC given her size, so here we are. It's not my ideal birth, but I'm so excited that I'll be meeting my little girl in less than an hour!

Of course, we haven't had any snow in my area of New England all season and today we got a big snowstorm. The roads were a mess on the way in and local schools are all closed. Took some pretty snow pics for the baby book on the ride in.
  • Congrats and good luck @Life is Exciting!
