  • @BakerBird525 Yes, the dog just suddenly started waking up.  I think that one night she got up to go outside and then got a treat,  and she decided it was fun to get treats during the night (she LOVES food).  We asked the vet at an appt of she had a UTI or anything else that would be making her get up, but everything looked good.
  • @chelseay416  You cook things differently when at high altitudes?? I had no idea!!!

Second due August 2020 (team green!)
  • First of all, a perk of being home for a mental health day is that I actually get to participate in these! You ladies are good company :)

@mrsschmity - congrats on the extra cleavage :) have fun, flaunt them a bit for sure!

@Kballew10 - Have fun at Motherhood! I got a gift certificate there for Christmas and shopping there was the best! Everything is so very comfy :) I hope you find some deals!

@MrsB8214 - Don't be nervous :) People have exciting, positive ultrasounds multiple times a day!!

@DeePaddy24 - congrats on a little man! How exciting! I'd love to hear your nursery ideas for a boy! Have fun with your reveal!

@ahernandez16 - That's frustrating the tech didn't say more, but congrats on the boy!! I hope you hear from the doc soon to confirm that all is well! Also, congrats on the new car!
  • @samsonator yea! I don't have to screw with everything I bake, but a lot of the prepackaged stuff (like brownie mix) or chocolate chip cookie recipes I have to mess with. Last time I made brownie mix from a box, I had to add an extra 1/4 cup flour and a couple tbsp of water or something like that. Cakes just like to sink in the middle, it is super annoying. Fudge is the hardest, or anything that requires a candy thermometer because the boiling temperature is lower than at sea level.
  • @chelseay416 - Feel free to send me any flat cookies and try another batch.  In AZ, we had to do that too (we were only at 3200), but since it was on the border of most "high altitude" recipes, I never changed anything and just lived with less than stellar results if it didn't work out.  They still taste good!

@newbabymakes4 - Where are you headed?  Have fun!!!!!

@candicek15 - Sounds like you are making the most of your brief adventures out of bed!  I also have no bras that fit.  If you find good ones that aren't expensive, tell me where you get them!  I'm afraid to buy nice ones in case these babies keep growing, but holy lord, do I need them!

  • @candicek15 my circulation has sucked too, normally I have low blood pressure but my hands fall asleep if if they're above my heart for too long (ie doing something on my phone while laying down) and my feet have the same issue.  Yay pregnancy?

@mrsschmity my hubs and I are having a milkshake date tomorrow- mmmm... enjoy yours!
@MrsB8214 best wishes with your upcoming AS
@Emztron500 I feel your pain. My toddler has not been puking (that's a whole other level- poor you) but she hasn't been sleeping well to say the least. I can't sleep on her floor if she asks me to like I used to give in and do on bad sleep nights cause I just get too uncomfortable... so tired.
@DeePaddy24 yay for boys! I'm still kind of in shock too.
@adiaz132003 your poor sinuses! For me, mine wound up infected (a lot of pain in my cheeks/jaw was an indicator) and antibiotics finally helped me but NOTHING else worked.

How far along are you? 18w6d

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Nausea is still at bay... have I finally turned a corner?
Rant: TIRED (also, the first time I posted this, it was really wonky- hope I can get it to not be)
Rave: WEEKEND! Also, my endocrinology appt was interesting. We still need to get my thyroid down a bit, but the doctor explained the connection between my thyroid issues and my constantly feeling too cold issues.
Funny story: I am wearing fairly unprofessional clothes today cause it's a PD day and I was just tucking into my lunch when I got pulled down to the gym to randomly promote my school to potential Mexican students via a video. Ha! I feel like I'm a pretty funny ambassador for a posh private school right now in my shaggy old sweater with my big ol bump protruding.

GTKY: I feel like I'll ask the same question every Friday....what are your weekend plans? Gonna go to my mom's house a couple of hours away. She's babysitting tomorrow so that my hubs and I can go out for dinner and dessert, which is definitely the highlight of the visit for me. Her dog and my dog are best buds (both big shaggy sweethearts) so a good time will be had by all.
  • @Kballew10 we're going to Hawaii, after this blizzard I'm so ready for sun (although it's been warm-ish the last couple days).  DH has a corporate/networking trip that will take up one or two evenings, but most of the time will be ours. I couldn't let him go on this trip alone!
  • @newbabymakes4 - I'm super jealous.  Enjoy it!  And I agree... it would have been very mean of you to make him take this trip by himself.  Good thing you are generous and offered to be his traveling buddy!  ;)

@NicknShan we painted ours! Are you planning to paint them on the wall? Or take them down, paint, re-attach?

We left most of ours on the wall. We taped off the wall at the top and the hardwood underneath. We used a product called Flotrol that delays drying of paint to minimize brush strokes. You mix it in with the paint. In areas where we had carpet (bedrooms) we used a plastic tool we got at Home Depot that wedged under the baseboard and protected the carpet. Worked like a charm!

There's also the option to take all the boards down and use a sprayer, then re-attach with a nail gun. You then have to fill the nail holes with a filler and touch up the paint. Usually this method gives a more crisp finished product.

For wood baseboards I have to recommend priming them first. You'll be glad you did!

    good luck!

    ETA: grammar
  • @alohasoprano I will be leaving trim on the wall, and the room I am starting with is carpeted.  Ugh.  I am only re painting one of the walls (the accent wall) so the rest will have to be taped.  I am pretty meticulous with my painting, so I hope this goes well...

  • @NicknShan it will! That plastic tool I got from Home Depot was a life saver for the carpet. It will look great! Post pics when you're done!
  • Questions? How many ladies are registering for an infant car seat or convertible or both?
I just get the infant car seat for now.  You don't want the convertible too soon as they expire after a certain time frame so you'll get less use out of it.

  • @NicknShan I forgot to mention earlier - I've painted every single baseboard in my house (UGH) and I agree with the recommendation of semi-gloss with primer, taping the walls (and then use a knife when you peel it off to break the seal between the paint and the tape). For the rooms that had carpeting, I got some plastic sheets (thicker than dollar store drop sheets) and pushed it under the baseboard and over the carpet and then used a knife again to break the seal between the paint and plastic and pulled them out. Hope that helps!
  • @Huskerfanz How was your appointment? Is your cervix cooperating?!
  • @Jerseygirl9090 I'm just registering for the infant seat for now

How far along are you? 19 weeks and 2 days

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Rant - while I'm enjoying some boobie growth, I was hoping for something much more impressive.

What are you doing to prepare for baby? Finishing an old dresser that will be repurposed for a changing table/dresser. Have a daycare tour scheduled for next weekend

    Questions? none

GTKY: I feel like I'll ask the same question every Friday....what are your weekend plans? Reviewing our estimate for our home renovations and finally singing the contract. Nothing super major but we are removing all the 70's decor (square recessed lighting, ugly stone around fireplace, wall & ceiling texture) and updating our look including a new paint palette. It'll be nice as we've been in the house for 3.5 years with barely any furniture while we saved for this renovation. Once we get done with the renos we can finally furnish our family room and living room.

  • How far along are you? 19 + 3

Rant/Rave/Symptoms? Rant - not pregnancy related, but my 2.5 yo DD is being so mean to me lately. She's been such a daddy's girl for the last few weeks, and today she actually made me cry. Just had a moment when I realized she'd actually prefer if I just disappeared and lost it. Oh, cruel cruel toddler
Rave - got the results from our fetal echocardiogram and everything is normal with baby's heart! My anatomy scan showed there may be issues with some of the major blood vessels but the cardiologist gave us an all clear!

What are you doing to prepare for baby?
Absolutely nothing. We need to do a major renovation before I can start the nursery, and that doesn't happen until April. So no prep for me until then. Luckily we already have most of what we need from DD

Questions? None - except to say I'm amazed at all you ladies who can respond back to individual posts. I lose track of who said what the minute I scroll past. I love getting to know you guys, but honestly sometimes I have trouble keeping it straight.

GTKY: I feel like I'll ask the same question every Friday....what are your weekend plans?
Sticking close to home with no big plans. DD has a play date and a hair cut.
  • How far along are you? 22+1

    Rant/Rave/Symptoms?
    Rant 1: heartburn right now!

Rant 2: drinking any amount of liquid close to bedtime ensures that I will be peeing every 2 hours all night long.  And sometimes a girl just wants a nice cup of tea before bed. ONE measly cup...it really seems like I pee out more liquid than I take in. How can that be?

Rave: NBR, but I went to an modern art exhibit today with my family, and my 3yo was so incredibly good the whole time! She was cute, too--she'd see something she liked and would whisper to me, "I want to show this to Cappa" (that's what she calls my dad), and then she'd go find him and say, "Cappa, come see this really amazing thing!" I was so proud of her.

What are you doing to prepare for baby? Nothing, really.

    Questions? No

GTKY: I feel like I'll ask the same question every Friday....what are your weekend plans? Tomorrow H will work on the car, and I'm thinking about asking my mom to babysit for a couple of hours so I can be a slug on the couch and watch Netflix for awhile. Then we have church on Saturday night, and Sunday we are having dinner with my in-laws at House of India, my favorite Indian restaurant. Mmm...I'm salivating just thinking about it. But I'll be popping a preemptive Zantac that night for sure.

I know the feeling! If I get to a thread late in the day and there's a lot of responses already, but I really want to comment to a few people, I'll take notes on a pad of paper so I can remember what I wanted to say to whom. Then I feel like a huge geek. :)
Oh my goodness, I've done that. Then I embarrassed myself by overthinking it and ended up not posting at all. Thanks for making me feel like at least I'm not the only geek!
