@jordanbara it's really not horribly difficult to keep a baby in if labor hasn't started. I mean, relatively speaking. My sister had her water break at, I think, 32 weeks, and stayed pregnant another two. She was in the hospital with a contraction and fetal heart rate monitor, and had twice daily ultrasounds to watch fluid levels, because she was still leaking amniotic fluid. She was monitored closely for any slight sign of infection, but there were no vaginal exams, so as not to introduce any pathogen. Her labor didn't start naturally; they made the call to induce when her fluid level got too low. Baby's lungs won't develop without sufficient fluid to practice breathing. It is possible, although not likely, for the amnion to reseal, and carry the baby to term. Edit for grammar fail. Edit because I didn't see the last comment til later- when your water breaks, it's not like all the fluid necessarily rushes out right then, usually just a little bit (although it feels like an ocean). Also, the body continually replenishes it, so as long as you're leaking less than you can reproduce, the baby still has fluid to swim in and breathe.

I was going to add the part about the amniotic fluid replinishing itself. Also, SO's mother described her delivery with SO in great detail over dinner this past weekend and said that he was a "dry birth". I was all "o.O" and she explained that basically he was delivered several days after her water broke. Weird (and possibly exaggerated but whatevs).
@mojomama6 Thank you for that, I know her doctors have it under control but good to hear some specifics.
@jonesl12 Once Upon a Child is seriously amazing. We get most of DD1s clothes there, lots of books and puzzles too. DH also wants me to I keep an eye on their wraps and carriers to hopefully avoid the $150 I've told him we must spend for the Tula I want...
@imrachelleayou might also want to keep an eye on facebook groups for a Tula. My local BWI group has a facebook chatter page that includes a post for selling used carriers each month, and I also belong to a local Tula group that does the same thing. I've seen Tulas in good shape for well below $150 on a regular basis. They won't be crazy cheap, but I've never seen them crazy cheap at a consignment store either. Someone actually posted a Bliss on one of those pages recently for $110 in great shape, and if I hadn't already spent our budget for the month I probably wouldn't have been able to resist (I LOVE that pattern but DH hates it).
Anyone have any tricks for soothing a pup? Poor Athena was spayed today and seems so miserable...I laid with her on the floor for a while because she's not interested in the couch and I can't pick her up. She can't have any meds until tomorrow and she's breaking my heart...

I know weed helps but that's probably not helpful. That is sad she is miserable.

I literally laughed out loud. I've never smoked weed but I imagine it would help!
@AmadorRoseany fave treats you could give her to distract her? Ours always enjoy a good peanut butter-filled Kong.
I have to rant about my OB office and the GD consult I had yesterday. The consult and all of the materials they gave me at the appointment were a joke. I seriously think they must be 20 years old because the "perfect day" sample menu included crap like margarine and skim milk. None of the materials even mentioned the glycemic index, choosing higher fiber foods, etc. At the appt, I asked multiple times for a guideline of how many carbs I should be eating at each meal. The nurse told me that there were guidelines in the packet of materials they gave me. Got to the office and read through, and lo and behold there were none.
So, I sent a message this morning through the patient portal asking again for guidelines. She just got back to me and told me "hospital guidelines typically call for 2500 calories and 60 grams of carbohydrates per day". Now, *I* know that this should really read 60 grams per MEAL, not per DAY, but that's thanks to google and participating on this board. I really like the doctor at this office, but honestly if this is the kind of information you allow your staff to give out, I am not impressed and am kind of considering looking at my other options.
@AmadorRose After spaying mine, all they wanted was to be near me, and for me to remove the plastic cone they had on their necks. We spent a lot of time cuddling that week, but nothing specific about how to cheer them up :-/ Hope it goes by quick for you.
I got home from work just now and had a random package from amazon I wasn't expecting anything. I opened the box and it's a baby toy. There is not any packing materials like packing slip showing who ordered it. It's fucking random and weird. I didn't order it and I've asked my brother, sister and dad. Not one of them. I highly doubt Amazon is sending me free shit just for the hell of it but whatever. Thanks though!
Also, I finally got the baby shower dress I ordered from ASOS and it's way too big. Like, it still wont fit me in a month when I am bigger at my baby shower and definitely wont fit me 2 month PP (It's also a nursing dress). Dammit. Back to the drawing board.
@AmadorRose Does she have to wear the cone? When we spayed our dog she didn't need one at all. I think at least while you're directly with her, keeping an eye, she should be okay without it. I know when my dog is not feeling well she loves if I just sit on the floor with her and she keeps her head in my lap.
@AmadorRose After my dog got his tumor removed, he really liked laying on warm towels with us laying near him. We put some towels in the dryer so they would stay toasty. He was much better the next day. The first day is rough coming off the anesthesia. Poor girl.
@imrachellea she won't leave it alone normally, so I don't trust her enough to leave it off. I was lying on the floor with her for a while but my body won't take it; she won't get on the couch with me and I can't lift her because she weighs about 70 pounds. We sat outside for a while but she's just mopey.

I'm still waiting on the dress I ordered from ASOS for my shower... It's been almost 3 weeks and they said if it doesn't arrive next week to let them know. So annoying. How long did it take yours to arrive?
@imrachellea I'm trying really hard not to drink the Tula kool-aid so I have never been on the site and looked at patterns. Once I heard the prices I just knew I needed to stay away!
I think most of my ranting yesterday was just hormonal nesting rage. The landlord is still fixing things, but we are a priority. Today he fixed the carpet and set up blinds. He even said he might get us a new fridge. He is really nice the more I get to know him.
@NOLA520 and @Knottie9983816 Thanks. Did a tiny bit of research after I saw the numbers and found out that GD increases the chance of pre-e (has with DS) and also makes you depressed. I kept thinking I was just overly hormonal, since pregnancy seemed to help with my depression with DS.
So I bought 5 grapefruit on Monday, because they were stupid cheap and I love grapefruit. I've eaten 2... where are the other 3? They're not on the counter or the table, in the fridge or the freezer or the pantry, and not in any of the cabinets. I searched the dining room, and even went back to the car to see if maybe they rolled out of the bag. Nothing. I went back to the receipt and confirmed that I did, in fact, actually buy them; I brought home everything in 3 reusable bags, and have located all 3 to confirm that they're all empty. I know pregnancy brain isn't supposed to be a thing, but I can find no other explanation.

Call the store, the cashier could have sat them beside the bag
Thank you guys. I've already started thinking of additional ways to change my diet. I cut out all sweets after I failed my 1 hour (except for that milkshake after the 3 hour test), so now I need to be a bit more drastic. My biggest fear is that it contributes to my already likely chance of having pre-e again, but that it will start earlier than anticipated. I've really been hoping for a spontaneous labor, even though I keep going "please just get me an induction day already," and this may have lowered my chances of that significantly. In a few months I'll have my LO and it will all be worth it.
As as a side thing, I'm now really curious if I'm actually having a boy, since girl babies with moms with GD tend to look like they have male genitals in ultrasounds. I never had any of the blood work done, so ultrasound is how we determined a likely sex. Guess I'm going to hold off on buying anything with LO's name on it until after LO is born!

And the dog is too nauseous to have any interest in treats. Hopefully tomorrow she perks up a little.
Also, treats. Lots of treats.
