I have another UO.... if a big box store offers something for sale online, they shouldn't have the option to not allow it to be picked up in the store. The dresser we want is for sale at Target and we get free shipping with our Target card, but it's a $30 oversize shipping fee for something they could just put on the next truck to the store

Side note rant about Target They have a new nursery collection. There is a FABULOUS peach ombre dresser in their ads. After 30 minutes searching the site, I find out it is NOT something they sell. WHY??? Target, you have hundreds of dressers you do sell that you could advertise. Why show something that is not available?
@swflJD I hear you. My thought, I guess, is that strangers can sympathize more easily with a toddler than with an individuated adult. Even if your friend's death left a bigger hole because more people knew her and depended on her, other people who did not know her or depend on her just assume she's like every other stranger they ignore on the bus every day.
On the flip side, it sounds like she had an amazing life--really impressive and already having done a lot of good and built loving relationships--while the toddler didn't have a chance to have one...
But the outrage should be equal, I agree. The driver did the same thing in both cases, and should be regarded the same.
@vinerie Duckface makes your face look narrower and your cheekbones more pronounced and your lips fuller. People who do it know that it looks fake and silly, but they don't look fat and they look a little more like supermodels, and that's really what matters.
Evidence for this theory is that the same people of my acquaintance who now do duckface on FB were the same people who insisted on only being shot from one angle, vetting every picture before assenting or deleting it, and refused to be in pictures if they thought they looked fat that day. Now, they just do duckface!
So they can look thin, modelesque, *and* ironic at the same time. Win-win.

@JessicaB0627 your gif cracked me up, even if I don't like his music. I think he's very talented but still can't stand him. I'm very unpopular with some people.

My thoughts exactly. On their fb page everyone was asking for the same dresser and they replied it is not for sale. Now all I can think about is how perfect it would be in Harper's room.
@ladysamlady and @txmamatobe - I didn't mind it either! I made DH take a sip first to see what it was like!
My UO this week is that I don't understand the appeal of this swing, even if a lot of women swear by them. It reminds me of something out of the Jetsons...
We saw these the other day at our first visit to BRU. We didn't know what to think, and called it the "gyrating egg." But I kinda want one...
LOL! DH and I call it the "space egg" and DH wants one for himself.
@yogahh is it just the drawer faces that are painted? Could you get a white dresser and just paint it? If it's just the front of the drawers I don't think it would be too bad to paint.

Yes, I could. But it would be SOOOOOO much easier if it was done already I am the least handy person in the world. The one time I tried to spray paint, I ended up with blue hands for a weekend! So me painting anything is a no go now...

I might get flamed for this, but I don't understand why it's not more expected for babies to be in car seats on planes.
Everyone is all about carseat safety in a car, but once you're on a plane, it goes out the window? If adults are expected to wear a seatbelt, how is it possibly safe for babies to just be held?
I don't intend to fly with a small baby, but if I do, they will have a seat and be in the car seat.

I've wondered the same thing. Also, most school buses don't have seatbelts. Why is it that I can be ticketed for my kid not wearing a seatbelt/being in a car seat in my own private vehicle, but it's perfectly fine for school children to go down the road in the school bus without them!? It makes no sense to me? Even if we do end up sending our kid to public school, he still won't be riding the school bus for that reason.
ETA: I also don't get why I can be ticketed for not wearing a seatbelt but the guy on the motorcycle next to me doesn't even have to wear a helmet!

This has always bothered me! I am constantly teaching kids about safety (wearing a helmet, buckling up etc) and 9 times out of 10, some kid raises his hand during my presentation and asks why they don't have to wear their seat belt on the school bus. And I have no good answer. I guess it is because if the bus tips over the kids can get out easier, but wouldn't that mean that they just get flung around and have more opportunity for injury?

This, 100%. We always take our car seat and it's a huge pain but personally feel like it's worth the inconvenience and expense.
But what I really don't understand is why if your vehicle has been in an accident you're advised to get a new car seat, but then people check their car seats on planes. I'm not talking about gate check where they're (hopefully) exercising some caution in handling, but the full check in at the counter and ends up on the baggage claim. Those seats get thrown around and I'm always so confused why someone would not just gate check if they don't want to buy a ticket? I mean yes, convertible seats are heavy but seriously, just get a wheelie thing to pull it.

My guess is because if the plane goes down, everyone is screwed no matter what. You'd also have people upset they have to pay for the extra seat and travel for families would be even more expensive; they'd be more likely to just drive, which has a much greater chance of resulting in collision/injury/death.
I don't know how you'd enforce kids wearing seatbelts on school buses; I know I wouldn't have worn one as a kid!
Here's an UO that will probably get me flamed, brought to you by my neighborhood facebook page. I am starting to lose sympathy for people who "lose" their outdoor cats. Someone just posted that they let their cat out last night and now she's lost. I mean when you let out an animal unsupervised that can jump fences...this is what happens.
jessiedee13I agree with you on the Professional family pictures!! Now if you could just have a word with DH...
I would totally talk him into how awesome they are! I got so lucky with my husband considering his mom is just as bad as me about it, so he didn't realize it wasn't a normal thing to spend money on! My cousin just finished school and started her professional photography career, so I do get a "family discount" (aka more photos for the same price...freaking score!), but it's still not like it's cheap. It's just worth it to me. I have no photos of myself as a child. That makes me sad. I can't compare myself to my kids to see any similarities. I don't have a family photo at all. We had no pictures up in my house. Maybe that's why I'm a little obsessed. I LOVE having my boys pictures and displaying them proudly! We're still getting family pics done this March. Then we'll do them again in June or July with the inlaws and baby Brayden. It's important to me.
Random UO: I do not like fruit in my salad. Get your grapes/dried cranberries/mandarin oranges/etc. out my face! Yuck!
I love fruit in my salad.... that's the best part--- strawberries, apples, clementines, cranberries, raspberries--- I love them all! We just had a pear, pecan and cranberry salad last night.

Oooooh. I get it now. Thanks.
Just thought I should point out that people would rather look like ridiculous twats than look even the slightest bit fat:)
Mine is that I don't want one more freaking person trying to sell me something on Facebook. Thrive, Beach Body, Younique, Rodan and Fields - they can all kiss my round ass. I will almost always block a B that's trying to sell me this stuff via social media. Public posts, private messages, pictures, etc. if I didn't respond to one of your first ten business propositions, I'm probably not interested. Get a job doing something else. Sorry NOT sorry.

A-fricken-men. A girl from my graduating class PM'd me today about setting up a "girls night" so she can discuss her Pure Romance products. Ummm... I'm 6 months pregnant and not in the slightest thinking about nipple tingle cream or flavored lube. Thanks, but no thanks.

QBF: Baaahahaha. My romance products at this time are my own pint of ice cream, the Apple TV remote and pajamas that are at least two sizes too big for me. Because pregnant.

I've seen this posted a couple times. Is this really a thing? I would be very annoyed too!
Re: UO Thursday 1/28
Personally, I get more upset when I hear about bad things happening to cats or dogs!
