Anyone else having babies close together in age?

My first will be 17 months when #2 is born. I'm really stressed about telling my boss since I had leave last year. Hubby and I are getting a bit older and only want two kids so we just decided to go for number 2... I'm hoping I'm not the only one with close Ages?

Re: Anyone else having babies close together in age?

  • 19 months apart here. We never thought we'd get pregnant again after our miracle baby so we were really shocked when we found out. Couldn't be happier now that it's settled in! Sorry I can't offer advice about work as I run a business from home.

  • My daughter will be 20 months when this baby is born, I'm getting my tubes tied this time. I'm nervous about them being so close in age but I know it will work out fine. I have two older boys as well (11 &8) that are helpful.
  • Mine are 18 months apart and my next two will be 20. It's busy, but the age gap seems great bc they are becoming great friends.
  • Ours will be 16 months apart. DH and I are both only children and we knew we wanted two kids. DH is 37 so we decided to start trying again at about 5 months postpartum thinking it could take a while. I joke that it's so he can enjoy his retirement. Plus I'm staying home with them until they go to school and I wanted to be able to pick up my career again sooner rather than later (I'll still only be in my early 30s when I plan on going back).

I was nervous about telling my boss but I'm in a little different of a situation. I stepped down from a manager spot to a part time spot after DD was born and had to let them know I was hoping to cut my hours even more to just a filler when they needed someone on the weekends once I'm further along (I work at a hotel and currently am alone at night and it would make me nervous when I'm farther along). They were really supportive and happy for us (though I'm sure not looking forward to trying to fill my spot as it is probably one of the hardest to find someone willing to work it). I never really kept it a secret that we wanted two close together though so they may have been expecting it.
  • Mine will be 19 months apart - my first was born toward the end of last Feb and this one is due at the end of Aug.  @Neesey @DDRRT1982 -- I remember you both from Feb 2015 board! Hello again. :)
  • Mine will be 20 months apart I think close in age while busy makes for great friends!
  • Mine will be 24 months apart. I have only been back at work for 5 months and I am terrified to tell them I will be off soon again.

  • Mine will be 15 months apart. We got pregnant when DS was 6 months old (on purpose). I always wanted my babies close in age.
  • My first two are 24 months apart and this one will be 18 months from my second baby. A lot of work but a lot of fun :)

Sorry, I was on the Dec 14 board. Not Feb. I changed my name, so probably someone else. I have a May 13 and a Dev 14 making them 18 months. Dec baby will be 20 months older than my Aug baby.

Oh man. Must have been someone else then!

As an aside, I'm glad to see some of you who responded already have two that are close in age and are surviving just fine. I'm both really excited and mildly terrified about having them be close in age.
  • Not quite as close, but mine will be 2y2m apart. Before we had kids, we talked about spacing them 3 years, but when dd was a few months old and we really started talking about when to have #2, we decided we wanted them closer to 2 years. I'm nervous for how it'll go when they are little, but growing up, I loved having siblings close in age, so I'm excited for my kids to have that as well.
  • Mine will be 15 months apart. We did it on purpose! Some people think we're crazy, but we're excited! ❤

Hmmm where do I start lol. With our 2nd it took is a long time to conceive. It took us about 18months. I literally thought something was wrong with me. So we wanted more little one and we figured it took us so long to conceive our 2nd that we would just go with the flow and if it happened it happened. Well did it! LOL! I'm a little freaked out to have two under two but like my good friend tells me God doesn't give you anything you can't handle.

So our two youngest will be 17 months apart.

We are very happy though

I'm going to try again with LO. I wasn't producing after 1 month with DS but I kept all of my breastfeeding supplies. Fingers crossed.

  • My DD will be 22 months when new LO is born. When people ask if we were trying I say no but I guess we love chaos. Once the shock wore off I finally got excited about this pregnancy.

I am still nursing my Dec 14 baby. He's almost 14 months. I weaned his sister during his pregnancy bc I couldn't stand the sensation at 14 months. It's not as bad this time around. I have no plans to wean him right now. I will tandem if that's what he wants. Selfishly, I would love to tandem bc I will nurse the baby and then have him finish up so I don't have to pump as much to stimulate my supply. I have a lipase issue, so saving milk beyond fresh is a pain.
  • Our baby will be 16 months younger than our dd. We have an 11 yr old dd and a 6 year old ds also. Like you @Duffgurl it took us a long time to get pregnant with our last dd and we knew we wanted at least one more. We started trying and it took no time at all this time. I am nervous about having two so close in age but super excited also! We have the older two kids and they are huge helpers already.
  • @Duffgurl I brestfed for almost 6 months with DD, but my job wasn't very conducive to pumping at the time (I had breaks as they have to allow you, but it could never be at the same time or very long as I had to have someone from another department cover for me when they had time). My supply dropped and I had almost made it to my original goal so we made the switch to formula. I don't think I could have handled nursing through this nausea anyway. This time I'm excited to have a lot more time and am hoping to nurse a full year, but we will see.

Our babies will be one year apart. DD was born one month early and so her birthday is Aug. 6th and my due date is Aug. 13. And this will be our second. Didn't plan it but you know how that goes lol. I still feel like a new mom, so I'm nervous to have two little ones that are super little. But, so excited at the same time.

Pumping and working is a pain. I did it with my 1st and my supply dipped too. I couldn't keep up so we went with formula.

Here's to nursing for a full year for this LO.

  • We'll have a 29mo and a 12mo when newbie arrives. It's a fun ride and you'll do great!
  • Wow this is reassuring!  I wasn't sure how common it was to have them closer together!
  • Ours will be 15-16 months apart. The 2nd one was definitely not planned, but I'm hoping that they will be close. I'll be excited to find out the gender!
  • Ours will be 15 months apart. We also have a 5 year old.

  • I had my dd September 17th, 2015. I'm currently pregnant and due September 1st (approximately going for scan to determine exactly how far I am on Thursday), but will need to get a section around August 25th most likely.  So there will be about 11/12  months between them! !!!! :#
  • Mine will be 13 months apart.......what was I thinking?  Not to mention I also have a 4 yr old n 14yr old...I'm just exhausted n running on fumes
  • Wow I am impressed by all you ladies! I am pg with my first and battling this first trimester all I keep thinking is how I can't imagine doing this while caring for another child! It made me rethink my 2-3 age gap plan to 4-5 years!

  • I already commented saying mine will be 15 months apart (on purpose) but I also want to say that I am still nursing. I'm super nervous!! I LOVE breastfeeding and I'm so sad to think I have to wean him soon. I don't want to tandem nurse :(

My girls are 3 years old and 18 months ... they are 16 months apart and we're 10 weeks with our 3rd. It is tough having them so close... at least in the beginning but don't worry as they grow they become inseparable and it's amazing to see them become best friends. I definitely recommend having a reliable wrap, I used a sleepy wrap or Moby when my 2nd was a newborn then switched to a maya wrap around 6 months. Take care of yourself and enjoy your oldest as much as possible before baby arrives. ♡
  • I was about to comment on the breastfeeding question when I realized I was incorrect about how far part my kids will be! Assuming this pregnancy goes forward (I've had some problems), they will actually be 18 months apart, not 19 months.  August is the 8th month of the year, not the ninth month (derrrrrrr).  So, my calculation was off.

I was breastfeeding my daughter when I found out I was pregnant with this one.  I stopped breastfeeding her 2-3 days short of 10 months.  Several days after my positive test, I noticed was having cramping while breastfeeding her (and only while breastfeeding), so I just stopped cold turkey.  Sad for her - she was so confused! I know the research says breastfeeding while pregnant is probably fine, but the cramping was really making me nervous.  I plan to breastfeed this one too (I hope).

My 1st and 2nd are 23 months apart.
My 2nd and 3rd are 26 months apart and now
3rd and 4th will be just under 3years apart.
  • Our boys are 11 months apart! Now we are due with twins! Sooo we will have 4 under 4 for a few short months... I'm pretty nervous but excited all the same!

Mine will be 13 months apart and I'm really stressing over it. Plus my 2 oldest are 22 months apart so I will have 4 under 5
  • Oldest is 13 yrs old, youngest just turned 1 in January and I'm now 13 weeks pregnant! There will be 18 months in between my two youngest children!!
  • This baby will be around 30 months from my current youngest, but my older two were 16 months apart. We hoped for two 18 month gaps, but when DS2 came early, we had to take longer to give us time to get over his delays and for my body to recover a bit. It also took about 6 months longer to get pregnant than we planned.

  • I had my son Aug 31, 2015 and I'm due with #2 on Aug 3, 2016. They'll be Irish twins - I was really nervous for the first few weeks until I heard that term and started embracing it. We're in the club of moms who can handle anything! The best part sof having kids close together are: we didn't forget how to be pregnant!
  • Ours will be 19 months apart. Could have gone for earlier but experienced a loss between. We are going for a roll because we want a big family and married late. :)
