How far along are you? EDD? -8 weeks today, September 2nd.
How are you feeling? -Im okay right now, nasal drainage, like every morning anymore. BUT Friday nights have been the worst for my MS... hope it isnt true tonight.
Doing anything baby related today? -Bumping, I might download and read some baby books recommended in the recent book thread.
Raves/Rants/Randoms: -SNOWING like mad right now, glad i stayed home from work. I dont mind the snow while im at home. Watching my birds and squirrels eat up at the feeders.
Questions? -can any experienced mamas recommend what is REALLY needed when baby arrives? i really dont want to invest in unnecessary items just because some book says i NEED them. And i dont want to clutter my house with junk i will never use. TIA!!!
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) -I used to read a lot during winter, this year i really havent but now i have an excuse to bust out my dusty kindle. I also binge watch shows on NETFLIX and Hulu. I dont have cable, SOO expensive, so i wait for the entire show to watch all of them. I also spend time with my family, having dinner, playing cards/board games, or just watching movies. Not too much to do when its cold and snowy.
How are you feeling?: Good! Symptoms are slooooowly creeping in though! Nauseous every once in a while, suuuuuper tired, and starving. Like all the time.
Doing anything baby related today?: Finishing prepping our announcement for Sunday!
Rants/raves/randoms: really just want these symptoms to keep on comin! The more the better.
Questions: Nope
GTKY: with my son we do a lot of drawing and painting. For me, I do a lot of trashy reality tv binges
How are you feeling? Fine...no symptoms other then mild nausea in the morning. I'd be freaking out more but 1) I haven't had an appointment yet so I'm trying to be realistic/not too hopeful 2) My mom apparently never had symptoms either so if its a genetic thing - then hey there's that!
Doing anything baby related today? Thinking up baby names for the heck of it.
Raves/Rants/Randoms: I really, really want to watch the Martian!!! Like screw food cravings, I have a movie craving, and right now time isn't allowing this to happen. I'm very upset about this.
Questions?
GTKY: What are some of your favorite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) We've had a lot of breweries and wineries pop up in the last two years around our area, so DH and I would check them out on weekends. Obviously I can't do that anymore, but I still like to see how each one is decorated differently. Otherwise we're big card players - so we play with friends or go out to dinner.
Doing anything baby related today? Made my first appt but it's not till Feb 17th but I will be almost 8 weeks by then so hopefully they will do an ultrasound.
Raves/Rants/Randoms: I know this is silly but I just don't believe I am pregnant till I can turn a digital test so that is what I did today and it said I was pregnant so know I am feeling more pregnant lol. My rant is that they predicted that we would have like 3 inches of snow and we woke up to barely an inch and I told my 2yo DD that we were going to build a snowman today and with the little snow we got it would be impossible
Questions? None today!
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!)
I read a lot of books and binge watch Netflix shows!
How are you feeling? Tired, food aversions, acne, random crying, fire nipples
Doing anything baby related today? I'm going to tell my best friend's parents because they're up here visiting and I'd like to tell them in person
Raves/Rants/Randoms: I had my first midwife appointment yesterday. I'm in love. My midwife is perfect, the birth center is perfect. I cried 4 times during the appointment because I was so happy with it all. Next week I have my first official intake appointment with exam and labs and stuff and she said I can do an ultrasound shortly after that

How are you feeling? Like a truck knocked the energy out of me.
Doing anything baby related today?Nope.
Raves/Rants/Randoms: I found myself in the baby section of Target yesterday. I've really held back on researching/checking out baby gear this pregnancy. My last pregnancy I was researching EVERYTHING - car seats, strollers, diapers, daycare centers - within hours of finding out I was pregnant. I'm a lot more guarded this round, though, so I surprised myself by wandering through there! They have some cute stuff!
Questions? I'm with @Kimmy717- I'd like to know what is really needed for babies. Especially just for first three months. I'm sure each family and baby will have different needs and I figure we'll add stuff on as needed/time goes on, so I just really want to know what's needed for those first few months!
GTKY: NETFLIX AND ICE CREAM AND DOG CUDDLES. There. I said it.
How far along are you? EDD? 5 weeks 3 days - September 20
How are you feeling? Normal. It's freaking me out. I'd like some symptoms so I know everything is ok.
Doing anything baby related today? Nope
Raves/Rants/Randoms: I hate that I have to wait so long for my first appointment!
Questions? How do you handle introducing a new baby to your family? I'm worried about how my son is going to react.
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) I direct our school musical and it usually takes place over the winter months. We're starting late this year due to my son's hospitalization, but I can't wait! And bonus, we'll actually get out of practices when it's light now
How far along are you? EDD? I think I've narrowed it down to being at 5w6d, but I still need to get measured next week to know for sure (wacky cycle)
How are you feeling? Pretty good! BBs are still sore, and I still feel pretty sluggish, but no nausea or anything yet. Last time that kicked in around 7-8 weeks, so I'm trying to enjoy it while it lasts.
Doing anything baby related today?
Trying to narrow down which forums I like best, lol! I used pregnancy.org back with my first, but apparently everyone has vacated there. So far I like it here and a private FB group the best.
Raves/Rants/Randoms:
I have GOT to focus on work today. I've been a mess all week and can only do one or two things before I find myself wandering back here...
Questions?
Well I have a unique (well probably not) situation in that my DD is with my ex-husband, and now I'm remarried and pregnant. I'm on good relations with DD's father (which is a miracle considering he cheated and walked out while DD was just a baby), but still am wondering what is reaction is going to be when I tell him. I won't be saying anything until we know all is good of course, but has anyone else dealt with this? What was the reaction? I'm not particularly worried or anything, just curious.
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!)
I'm in Texas, so it's more like the few winter weeks that are sporadically placed between not so cold weather, but I love snuggling under the blankets and watching a movie when I get the chance.
-can any experienced mamas recommend what is REALLY needed when baby arrives? i really dont want to invest in unnecessary items just because some book says i NEED them. And i dont want to clutter my house with junk i will never use. TIA!!!
What I learned the first time around is that you don't have to have a nursery set up right away. DD spent the first 7-8 months in our bedroom, so the crib wasn't even used before then besides to take a picture or something silly like that. So if you want to wait to invest in additional baby furniture, that can save you some money and headache of setting up for a few months.
@Kimmy717 We used our swing a bunch it was a life saver. We used a bassinet for the first 10 weeks so DD could be right next to me since I was breast feeding. I didn't really use the bouncy seat that much but it was nice when she was older than an infant and I could bring her with me if I was cooking or what not.
How far along are you? EDD? 5 weeks on some apps & 4 weeks and 6 days on others... Sigh.
How are you feeling? I am starting to feel nauseous for the first time and can you believe I'm relieved at the feeling?
Doing anything baby related today? I am telling a good friend that I am expecting over dinner tonight.
Raves/Rants/Randoms: I am having my first ultrasound on Tuesday and I am literally counting down the hours! I am SO excited!
Questions?
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) I absolutely love to read. How nice is it to curl up with a good book & drink some hot cocoa on a cold, winter day?
Raves/Rants/Randoms: I'm calling roofing contractors this morning. Last night, aroudn 10:00 naturally, we noticed we had water running down our walls. DH went up to the attic and discovered a hole in our roof. At about 11:00. So at 11:30 we were putting up buckets in our attic. At 11:55 (yes I looked at the clock) we were tarping our roof if a rainstorm. So today it's calling contractors to see if we can get an estimate and hopefully this fixed soon. If it doesn't snow that is.
Questions? Nope.
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) TV and reading! Pretty much what we do to pass the time anyway. Except this is snuggled up under a blanket on the couch.
How far along are you? EDD? 4w2d but I yet to have my first appointment
How are you feeling? I keep having a mild pain on my left side around the hip. It freaks me out. I don't know if this is normal. Also my nipples are swollen and sore.
Doing anything baby related today? No.
Raves/Rants/Randoms: I'm so cautious. We had to postpone our first dr appointment by a week as SO had to travel abroad and I want him there. We will go 2/10. So until then I am just nervous that it isn't real....i keep POAS to check the lines are still there. It's gonna be the longest 3 weeks ever!
Questions?
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) Netflix and cooking
Doing anything baby related today? Nope, work and then home with my other babies
Raves/Rants/Randoms: One thing I HIGHLY recommend (couldn't live without) is a good nursing pillow. Whether you're breastfeeding or not, they're invaluable in my opinion.
Questions? Not really ☺️
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors:
We do a lot of season related crafts and reading with the kids... Mama time is reading, designing stuff on photoshop and Netflix of course.
Wife to A; Mama to C (2009), N (2011), H (2014) & baby F due 09/16/16
How are you feeling? BBs are a little sore, a general icky stomach (not quite nausea), and my ever present cramps.....
Doing anything baby related today? Nope, well may download some baby books.
Raves/Rants/Randoms: The blizzard is coming! I have never been in a blizzard, it's snowed a foot back in Cincinnati but didn't think much of it. Now in the DC area who knows how long it will shut things down. We went to the grocery store this morning, it was crowded but not that bad. As long as the power stays on we will be fine. Not going to lie the thing that scares me most if I start bleeding and have to wait a week to be seen, a little part of me thought I should buy wine.
Questions? Not so much a question but while searching anything you can find situations where things went great and where they went worst case. No more if X, Y, or Z happens will things be ok questions will I search.
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) Board games! We play a lot of the non-traditional board games. I like Dominion, Puerto Rico, Ticket to Ride, Settlers, and more.
How are you feeling? Good. I would actually welcome some nausea, just so I know everything is progressing.
Doing anything baby related today? Adding to my Pinterest board...
Raves/Rants/Randoms: My sense of smell is crazy. The chicken I cooked last night smelled funny to me, so we threw it out and made grilled cheese. I'm not sure if the chicken was really bad or just my sensitive nose, but better safe than sorry!
Questions? None right now...
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) Reading, sewing, naps... Playing the Sims for hours while doing all the laundry.

Nauseous in the mornings, but it doesn't last that long. Haven't thrown up yet.
Doing anything baby related today?
Just this
Raves/Rants/Randoms:
Excited for my first appointment next Wednesday!
Questions?
Is it normal to not be very nauseous or to not have thrown up yet?
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) Netflix, hot chocolate, cleaning
@Emillz5- I think everyone experiences pregnancy symptoms differently. Some will have tons of nausea and be unable to keep things down. Some might feel a bit queasy but never actually throw up (this is me) some don't feel any nausea at all.
Raves/Rants/Randoms: I only just took my first dose of Diclectin last night and I already feel so much better!!! Not 100%, but noticeably better!! And I don't notice any obvious drowsiness either. I am over the moon!!!
Questions?
Anyone else planning to wait long past 12 weeks to announce to the world? I will be telling friends and family starting in February, but I really have no interest in sharing the news with work, facebook etc.
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!)
@0SeaMonkey0 , i feel you, im not feeling sharing with the FB world or my work. I dont want or need busy bodies asking me questions or giving unwanted advice. People just make me sick sometimes with their attitudes.
Raves/Rants/Randoms: I just want to sleep. DH went out with coworkers last night. I didn't expect him not to get home till 11. I figured 9 at the latest. He annoys me to no end with stuff like that but he has gotten better since DD was born.
Questions? Nope
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) We have memberships to two museums. We alternate a bit between them but DD loves them. Also thinking of enrolling her in gymnastics.
@0SeaMonkey0 - I don't plan to share with work until 4 or 5 months along (basically until I'm showing a little too much) and I don't think I'll ever do a social media announcement. My plan for social media is to not hide it, but not announce it either. Like, I'm not going to untag photos with an obvious baby bump, but I'm not going to do one of those "we're expecting" announcements either. I'm not really a "cutesy" person who enjoys that kind of thing.
How are you feeling? awful. I'm used to it now, although the last two days have seemed a little more bearable.
Doing anything baby related today? no
Raves/Rants/Randoms: I'm so tired of these threats of winter weather and then never seeing an ounce of snow. If DD and I are going to be stuck in the house all day, then it should at least be pretty outside.
Questions? How do BTDT moms keep your child's toys/stuffed animals/knick knacks organized? I need some storage ideas.
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) I myself like staying in and reading in front of the fireplace or going to see all the good oscar movies that are out right now. With DD we go to the library, I take her to play at the Y while I work out, indoor outings like the aquarium or the children's museum. If it's not raining and above 40 degrees we still do things outside like go to the playground or park. It rarely gets super super cold here.
@PoodleDoodleOoo Okay thank you! Most of my friends I have talked to had horrible morning sickness so I just didn't know if it was normal that I feel pretty normal
How far along are you? EDD? 7 weeks 4 days? according to pregnancy center app? Sept 5 EDD?
How are you feeling? Ok, took the anti nausea meds this AM when I got up to let the dog out because I knew i'd be going to lay back down with no work today because of the snow hoping that would avoid any nausea but by the time I actually got up and started moving around, it was too late. I started to feel much better after I ate but I need to drink some fluids over here now. I was thinking maybe I wasn't going to need the meds anymore because yesterday afternoon I forgot to take the 2nd dose because I was busy and not feeling overly nauseated but I guess not after this morning's experience. Hard to say.
Doing anything baby related today? the dr office called and said the dr I've been seeing just for my annuals and everything will not be in the office next Friday which is when our 1st appointment is and the only alternative she had was with a dr I've never met before. Which is fine I suppose but i'm hesitant somewhat because its a Lebanese dr. I'm gun shy because I've had a bad experience with a dr who was not from the United States and had the strongest accent and communication was poor. It was very difficult to understand his instructions in regards to me getting better and I wound up worse because of it. It was however the soonest ultra sound apt they had and I'm already off next Friday afternoon and its only one appt. And really, the only thing that even matters to me next week is the actual US, so I guess we are going to see this dr. I know its silly and petty, but after my previous experience which caused me a set back, communication is key to me.
Raves/Rants/Randoms: I guess my rant would be in the above.....I'm off today due to the snow storm on the East coast and thoroughly enjoying being in my pj's at noon. DH had to go in to work because his company is ridiculous but he should be home shortly and I should have made it appear that I've at least done something productive while he's been gone.
Questions?
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) Working out, I wanted to do some puzzles or something with dh last year but we didn't really have anywhere to keep something like that set up and not disturbed. Now we have a an area that would be perfect for it but i'm so busy right now with work and night classes...maybe not this year.
How far along are you? Well, I was pretty confident I'm 7 weeks, 3 days. But I guess I'm 5.5/6 weeks? *see below*
How are you feeling? Upset stomach, but not barfy. So tired. The best way I describe it to dh is I feel like I'm getting the flu, but it never progresses.
Doing anything baby related today? So, I had my first appointment w/ us this morning. Saw baby and a tiny (weak) heartbeat. That was pretty cool. But baby is measuring at about 6 weeks. Though she did comment on my nice, long cycle lengths (33ish days) Dr. suggested we be "cautiously optimistic" and scheduled a second us for 2/1. So I guess we'll be waiting to see what baby looks like then. I'm a little bummed I'm not as far as I thought I was, but that's life I guess. We also held off on the long appointment that typically follows the first us since we will be back in 10 days. Raves/Rants/Randoms: The Sonic burger I just ate was disappointing. Also, I have to take another day off from work for 2/1 and I don't know how to approach my principal about it.
Questions? So my cycles are about 33 days. This is longer than average right? (average being 28 days) So when baby is 5 weeks gestation, typically women are about 7 weeks. So since my ovulation is about a week later than "average" ovulation (cd14) is this possibly why baby is measuring a week earlier? I just reread that, and I'm not sure it makes a bit of sense. But I'm going to post it anyways in the hope that someone might understand what I'm asking. (I'm using the term average very loosely)
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) Love all the trashy reality TV shows, cleaning (when the urge strikes), playing games with dh.
@0SeaMonkey0 , i feel you, im not feeling sharing with the FB world or my work. I dont want or need busy bodies asking me questions or giving unwanted advice. People just make me sick sometimes with their attitudes.
@0SeaMonkey0 & @Kimmy717 I'm the same way. I don't want to share until well after 12 weeks to FB and work. That being said, as much as I love DH he can't keep a secret to save his life and has literally told everyone and sundry. WE HAVEN'T EVEN HAD OUR FIRST OB APPT YET! He's really lucky I love him and love that he's excited, but I'm all over here being cautious and wanting to wait because I don't want to have to un-tell all those people if godforbid something happens.
Doing anything baby related today? Nope...well, throwing up...does that count?
Raves/Rants/Randoms: ICYMI, baby's first ultrasound yesterday went great...i'm so relieved! Saw a little heartbeat and everything!
Questions? Has anyone ever flown between 32-34 weeks? Just looking for some experiences
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) You spelled favorite wrong!! j/k...I live in California so it doesn't get colder than 50...we do get stuck indoors because of rain, so we take trips to cool stores like Bass Pro, Petco, etc. We also run around the mall...or we stay home and do a movie marathon
How are you feeling? -still struggling but hanging in there.
Doing anything baby related today? -had my first ultrasound and we saw a perfect baby measuring two days ahead! HB of 144. I did have a SCH that I'm worried about but dr seemed to think it was no big deal.
Raves/Rants/Randoms: -We told our 4yr old today and he is so excited!!
Questions? -anyone else have a SCH?
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) -reading. I love to read. Other than that, we do the children's museum a lot. My son loves it and we have one of the best.
Raves/Rants/Randoms: @Kimmy717@PoodleDoodleOoo I'm going to start a new thread based on your questions of what you really need for baby. I think it'll be helpful to a lot of FTMs
Questions?
GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) I live in CA, so our winters don't really consist of much other than rain. My kids go stir crazy (which then makes me crazy) when they're cooped up inside too long, so we do indoor play places on rainy days sometimes. If we have to be inside its tv, board games, etc.
@reesaXden Yay for the good scan! A singleton, then?! (I've been thinking about you ever since you mentioned your nurse dropped the idea of multiples following your betas!)
@Mali0902 - I have 33 day cycles too* and I estimate that I O'd on or around CD15. That would put me at 4w 3d gestation or 6w 3 day if I add the two weeks that most doctors use. I'm 6w 4d based on my LMP - so I don't think a CD14 O date would really change the due date based on LMP much. I also have a long LP (approx 16 maybe 17 days!), which is what makes my cycle so long. That said, it is possible you ovulate later than CD14 and have a shorter LP. It seems like that a CD14 O date is pretty average, but I could be wrong on that.
I added the * because I'm not 100% sure 33 day cycles are my norm. I had a loss in October and my only "complete" cycle between that pregnancy and this was 33 days. I was tracking my periods before my first pregnancy but I ditched that app (and lost that data) in favor of fertility friend. I also only temped for one complete cycle, and it wasn't the one in which I conceived, so I'm not 100% sure I ovulated on cycle day 15 myself.
@mali0902 do you temp to confirm ovulation? We're you assuming you were 7w3d based on LMP? If you typically have 33 day cycles then yes you would likely have ovulated later than CD14. You could have ovulated later than even your normal so without knowing exactly when you ovulated it's hard to say. It's great that you saw a heartbeat today! Fingers crossed for a great u/s next week!

Raves/Rants/Randoms: I tried Preggie Pop Drops and they are working really well. I recommend them!

I think I've narrowed it down to being at 5w6d, but I still need to get measured next week to know for sure (wacky cycle)
Pretty good! BBs are still sore, and I still feel pretty sluggish, but no nausea or anything yet. Last time that kicked in around 7-8 weeks, so I'm trying to enjoy it while it lasts.

Raves/Rants/Randoms:
I'm so cautious. We had to postpone our first dr appointment by a week as SO had to travel abroad and I want him there. We will go 2/10. So until then I am just nervous that it isn't real....i keep POAS to check the lines are still there. It's gonna be the longest 3 weeks ever!

Nope, work and then home with my other babies
Raves/Rants/Randoms:
One thing I HIGHLY recommend (couldn't live without) is a good nursing pillow.
@verdouxkai Thanks! My mom mentioned that also.
@ejmo68 Thanks! I heard a good swing/co-sleep option is REALLY recommended. My mom said I loved my swing and seat when i was a babe.
Board games! We play a lot of the non-traditional board games. I like Dominion, Puerto Rico, Ticket to Ride, Settlers, and more.

How are you feeling? Nauseas and tired. The bloat is definitely real. Ugh!
Doing anything baby related today? Thinking about maternity pants.
Raves/Rants/Randoms: I might throw up today. Also, what should I eat for lunch?

GTKY: What are some of your favourite ways to pass the long winter months indoors (kid and non-kid related ideas welcome!) I live in CA, so our winters don't really consist of much other than rain. My kids go stir crazy (which then makes me crazy) when they're cooped up inside too long, so we do indoor play places on rainy days sometimes. If we have to be inside its tv, board games, etc.
