WTF DH... Last night he suggested that I go sleep on the couch because he has a cold and doesn't want to get me sick. Uhh no, I'm growing a human inside of me, you go sleep on the couch so I can enjoy the king size bed to myself!
Lol If my SO suggested that, he might get a boot to the head. Though for the last several weeks we've been sleeping separately but together and it's been pretty awesome. He pulled a mattress from another room in and has been sleeping on it in the room while I sleep in our bed. With all the pillows I used including the snoogle (he says it's like having another person in the bed hahahaha) there just isn't any room for him. Plus I don't want to snuggle in the middle of the night so he got tired of me throwing his arm off of me. We've discussed rearranging the room so that our queen beds can be side by side but we'll still have a ton of space.
H asked me earlier if I would be upset if he slept in the guest room tonight. He said he both feels like we need a good night's sleep and last night was rough for us both.

Nope, nope, nope, I do not mind a bit. YAY BED!

See I've been even more clingy than usual, so I guess I'm just opposit. I literally told my fiancé tonight that he needs to give me more opportunities to let me put my face on him. He kissed my forehead, said I'm weird, and all was good. (It's been three days and he is actually actively trying to make an effort with me. Hasn't been perfect, but it's a huge difference since Sunday's melt down!)

  • WTF hemorrhoids??? Going to the bathroom has become a serious source anxiety and pain. I can't imagine what it's going to be like after labor!!

Also WTF DC metro area. One inch of snow and the whole area freaks the fuck out. To be fair, the department of transportation did NOT prepare for this snow even though they knew it was coming and was happening right at rush hour. But this has happened here before... can we learn a lesson for once?! It took me 40 minutes to drive 2 miles on a sheet of ice last night. I needed a glass of wine in the worst way when I got home. Damn you, pregnancy rules.

I'm dreading the mayhem that is sure to ensue this weekend - we're being told to expect 1-2 feet of snow between Friday night and Sunday. For some of you that might be somewhat normal for the winter where you are, but it is catastrophic here. We're just not prepared for it. I'm ready for spring!!

  • So it's Thursday now but I really need to vent about my WTF moment from yesterday and this morning. Yesterday morning it snowed in my area and the roads were bad on my way to work. Most every school in the area was closed. I leave a half hour early. Of course I wouldn't speed and drive like a maniac in the snow and risk an accident, injury or ticket anyway, but of I'm a little more cautious being pregnant. Which I find reasonable. I was 12 minutes late to work. I don't even remember the last time I was late. The only way they won't give me disciplinary action is if I get a note from my doctor - I guess saying I can't speed in the snow and cause a wreck and injury myself. Like WTF. I can't even put together a sentence that adequately describes how ridiculous that is. There's no way anyone can guarantee they won't be late in bad weather. Except maybe sleeping at work and never leaving. I just can't even wrap my head around this.

Wait wait wait...you need a doctor's note saying you aren't supposed to drive recklessly? This can't be real life.

This has always baffled me about DC. Their snow response is just horrible- it's not like it NEVER snows there. It snows frequently! I live in NY and our snow response is just much better than DC. I can see, like, Atlanta not being prepared. But DC? Get it together!

It's ABSURD in DC. I grew up in the metro area, it snows at least every couple of years, and each time you would think the world is ending when flurries appear. I can't deal.
  • Wtf male friend for saying that i'm going to give the baby shaken baby syndrome and saying gross when I tell you that if it worked like that pregnant women wouldn't be able to have sex. ugh who wouldn't want a slice of someone that has no bladder control. Swollen face. And a giant belly with sausage feet. Focus on the boobs...just focus on the boobs.
  • @spatter1 DH has a hemorrhoid and decided to make his own squatty potty. He was so pumped about it. His roommate used it yesterday and sent him snaps about how it was the most amazing thing for his poop and said it was just like the unicorn lmao! So now he wants DH to make another one to leave when we move next weekend.
  • @JulienneNicole I have heard good things about the squatty potty... thinking I need to invest in one!!

  • My chiropractor friend swears by the squatty potty!

Yup. I've lived here for almost 12 years. We get some kind of snow every year, but only get amounts worth talking about every 3-5 years probably. If we really get the 1-2 feet expected I won't be surprised if the area shuts down for a week. During "Snowmageddon" in 2010 (? I think that was the year) we got over 2 feet of snow and I'm pretty sure I didn't go to work for over a week. Insane. Last night with this one inch during rush hour it took one of my friends almost 6 hours to get home. SIX. HOURS. to go 20 miles. Beyond absurd.

    I can top DC - I give you Raleigh's Snowpocalypse of 2014...

Yes, there are 3 cars on fire in this picture. We got 3" of snow/ice and it literally shut down all of our roads. People were walking 15 miles to get home. I wish I was joking.

With my lovely employer this wouldn't be an excuse for being late to work. *Sigh*

Yup. Basically. I told my boss I was 12 minutes late because of the snow, thinking nothing else would come of it. She said she'd get with me about the disciplinary action. I'm basically like uh wtf? Only in a professional response lol. And was told unless there's a doctors note, there'd be disciplinary action. So I asked if she wanted me to get a note from my doctor saying I can't drive recklessly in the snow or what. We'll see what she has to say but that's basically what she wants. I was wondering if I put that letter on the internet how fast that'd go viral lol. Probably would get fired though.

  • It's really crazy the difference in attitude between a region that gets regular inclement winter weather and one that doesn't - I lived one winter in Nashville, which is less than 3 hours from where I live, and they got a literal dusting - maybe a half inch - of snow (if that) and closed schools. Parents cancelled therapy appointments. Nobody went out. I was flabbergasted. Atlanta also got a miniscule amount and wanted to go into a state of emergency. It's all relative. I wouldn't wish one to two feet of it on anybody though! That is certainly out of the norm for us.. we get a few 3-5" snowfalls a year, it's just the ice that comes with them that is the issue. We haven't had a truly awful winter storm since an ice/snow storm a few years ago that left thousands without power for days. Hang in there, east coast! They're stil not sure what we will get tonight, SO IN is on the cusp of this mega blizzard. However, 45 mins south of us, they're expecting ice + 8" snow. No thanks.

PS: Is it just in the Midwest that people measure travel distance not by # of miles, but as the amount of time it normally takes to get there?

We do that in the South too. In Atlanta, it could take you an hour to travel 10-15 miles. Out in the 'burbs it may only take 10 minutes. Time is a more accurate method to convey I think.

  • @cmjenkies We do that in the Portland metro-area too.
