It's basically an organizer that fits inside any regular (larger) tote or handbag to make it a diaper bag. I'm considering this option since this is less expensive than many diaper bags and I can use it with at least three of my existing purses off the top of my head.
S+TMs, is there a reason this ISN'T a good idea that I'm not thinking of?
The only downside I see to this is in the case you drop your baby off at a babysitters house. I do this now, and I leave the whole diaper bag with her on the days that she watches DD. Otherwise, I think it's awesome, and I love the organization!
You ladies are all so stylish! We went for functional. My husband actually picked out ours and I ended up buying it a few weeks ago for 50% off! I love how much space is inside but it still has so many separate pockets. Ours is the Fisher-Price Fastfinder Diaper Bag from BRU.
Stylish Mamas!!! I most likely will go with my MK purses. They are all bigger and fit quite a bit. But for my husband I picked something functional and actually cheaper. He doesn't need a flower print or gold zippers lol
On this topic, are you and your SO each planning to have separate diaper bags? I'm debating on whether we really need two diaper bags or whether we should just share a bag with everything in it and not worry about having to remember to stock both. The baby will most likely be with me during most week days since we are going to use the daycare at my office, so I'll definitely have to have a bag, and he'll probably be with both of us most weekends. And when he is with just DH, I won't need my bag. The only benefit I really see to having two separate bags is that DH could get a more rugged "manly' looking bag to carry when LO is with him instead of carrying my bag, which will probably look more like a large purse. Is it too much trouble to have to stock two bags all the time? Any thoughts/suggestions from STMs?

DH and I are planning on just sharing a bag. We chose a more gender neutral looking bag so DH wouldn't feel weird carrying it if necessary. It works out for us bc we actually work at the same place and are rarely in different places on the weekends. Same with you, if the baby is with either one of us the other won't need the bag anyway so it doesn't really make sense for us to get 2. Worst case, DH does have a backpack he can use if needed.

We only use one diaper bag so that the same supplies can be used. I use it, DH uses it, and my mom uses it. I liked that we only have one bag to stock, and that it cuts down on front-door clutter. When shopping for a bag, I asked DH if he wanted me to get a neutral one. He insisted that he didn't care and actually preferred something slightly obnoxious so that he wouldn't forget to grab it on his way out the door with DS on occasions when it's just the two of them. He is the type to focus on the function of something like a bag, and has never minded carrying random things of mine in the past if there was reason for him to do so. Ultimately, it comes down to your own personal tastes and comfort levels.
eta: I use a wristlet as my purse, and just throw it in the diaper bag when I'm with the family, or in my work bag when I'm off to work. That way, everything in the diaper bag is actually for DS.
I'm going to be a SAHM so I will be with the baby all day and eve. DH and I aren't really apart for the weekends and I can't foresee any time he would take baby anywhere without me. ( maybe to his mom's if I don't feel like going as well? ) so we are only getting one nappy bag that he can also use on those rare occasions.
@Charissadeats thank you. I agree She's actually working on crocheting a pair of converse for him to wear home from the hospital! I keep telling her she needs to sell what she makes !
@jewels1020 I would have been a customer if I lived on the same continent! Those bags are wonderfuly awesome and the converse sound adorable. She will do great!
I found this Petunia Pickle Bottom backpack/satchel on eBay. I fell in love with the pattern but it was discontinued. I love it!
I had a PPB Satchel with my last baby and I must say it was a pain!! It's so deep and narrow, you had to take everything out to get one thing out from the bottom... My husband complained everytime he used it lol... It was beautiful though... Just not practical for a diaper bag!
@babybliss2012 it seems like no matter what bag I have I'm always dumping it on the floor looking for stuff. I'm chronically unorganized ha! At least I will be able to fit lots of things in there...
I haven't done much searching, but if anyone happens to come across a bag similar to the PBK diaper bag please tag me! I love the PBK one, but am not liking the $150 price tag for a canvas tote.
We decided to do two diaper bags. Hubbs is super excited about baby boy and wanted to have his own "stock" of diapers etc, to leave in his truck for when he takes him on his own. Fine with me!
And mine, I think.... though @yogahh I am really digging that Maranda Lee bag...
We got the skip hop in chevron. We wanted something my husband wouldn't be embarrassed to use. Haven't gotten to use it yet, but i think it will work out well.
I splurged on a red leather Storksak on sale 5 years ago with my DD - the Elizabeth, I think. It's showing some wear now, but it's held up pretty well considering it got constant use for 3+ years. I expect I'll continue using it with this baby. The only downside is that since we cloth diaper, the diapers themselves are somewhat bulkier than disposables, which means it gets stuffed pretty full even though I try to keep the contents down to a minimum. My DH and I both carried it when appropriate, but he's the kind of guy that doesn't really care what it looks like if it gets the job done. I liked that it looked more like a purse than a diaper bag. I don't carry an additional purse when I have it, just my wallet/wristlet that I slide in with everything else and can remove if I'm leaving it somewhere with the baby.
Seriously the best diaper bag ever. It holds all the things. It's ridiculously organized. It has a legit cooler. It's easy to tote. It's bigger on the inside.
I love this Vera Bradley bag! It's ginormous, and is supposed to fit really well on a stroller. Also comes with a changing pad. My favorite part is that the whole thing is WASHABLE!!
My husband and I are using separate bags... his is this one!
I'm a jersey girl.. and just because I am having a little boy doesn't mean everything has to be blue!!!! I'm hoping to go leopard print!!!! I'm obsessing over this Betsey Johnson bag
I got this kate spade bag on sale before I got KU It's a baby bag and waterproof/nylon on the inside but it looks like a normal tote. I love it! A few of my mommy friends used cute bags but switched to a back pack, so I'm keeping that in mind as a back up.

Love love love! There's a Kate spade animal print at century 21 I've been lusting over but it's really heavy. This one looks light and easy to clean. Might have to check it out!
We went with the JuJuBe Be Right Back Backpack. We didn't want to buy 2 diaper bags and DH preferred the backpack style to the more traditional tote. It has a great matching changing pad with a special pocket to keep it separated from the rest of the bag, a mommy pocket for your keys and phone, and an anti microbial contrasting interior to reduce the time spent digging for lost items.
