Re: Late January due dates check in!

  • @anightintunisia YES! Finally! On your way to feeling better and a BABY!!!

  • 39 week appt. this morning... Starting to wish my doctor didn't do cervical checks. It's so discouraging to go in every week and be told nothing is happening. I think I'd rather not know at this point. My house is clean, organized and ready for baby. I'm holding off packing my hospital bag because I'm scared I will jinx myself and not go into labor just because I packed it! Haha!

  • You go! I wish I had your motivation! Pass it on please! @paigeyferd

You don't have to get the checks. Your body, your patient care! As a ftm I had no idea but this time around I opted out of them.
  • @cameronreed  you can decline them if they just bum you out. :) Just remember, you can go from 0-10 in a day!

  • @paigeyferd me too! I'm telling myself sternly that once active labor kicks in I won't be able to focus on anything else, so there's no point in staring at timers and poking at my belly until then, haha. This morning I made jam and baked bread and swept the floors... And now I get to lie on the couch reading and napping and eating bread with jam, which I will no doubt be longing for within a week after baby does make his appearance. :)

I declined checks. Mainly because I have trouble tolerating pain and my first pregnancy experience was very traumatic. Most likely I will be induced anyway, because I am considered an "old fart mommy", so there is no point in digging in my cervix

  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one who is starting to feel totally over it. AND I don't even have other LO's major props to you ladies! I think the peeing every half hour and BH ALLLLLL day long that never turn into anything real is my biggest "complaint." I hate saying complaint bc I have had a pretty darn good pregnancy and am totally aware that everyone feels like this towards the end. That still doesn't mean that every time I go pee I sit there for an extra second wishing my water would break haha! If only I could be so lucky!
  • @CaraBoonie I don't get menstrual cramps either, and the few women I've told this told me I will have a worse time dealing with contractions because of it. I'm just like, "Gee, thanks!" How encouraging.
  • @DianaL92 ah, I hope not! I plan to get an epidural the second I get to the hospital though, so I just have to make it to then, haha.

Having some action..... Contractions started last night. About 8 to 9 minutes apart. I will continue to labor at home until they are 5 minutes apart for at least two hours & getting stronger to the point where I can't talk during them. That's what the midwives instructed. Then they will check me before I try to get admitted at labor & delivery. It could be today, it could be another week. Who knows but something is definitely going on. It doesn't feel like my BH. Definately more intense & each contraction is easier to identify than with BH those felt more like nagging menstrual cramps but these have a definite start & stop & a peak in the intensity.
  • @ByeByeSpotts YASSSSSS to that picture, haha

  • Oh my god. I'm so bored at work now and being due at the bitter end of this month (1/30), I hate to think I could have 3 more weeks of work! I have passed off all my project. Because of the nature of my job, it doesn't make sense for me to work on continual projects at this stage. HOW CAN I MAKE THE TIME GO FASTER??? I'm also trying to do exercises, because if one more person tells me I haven't dropped, I'm going to punch them.
  • Same boat! Due 1/30 also and no one would schedule meetings with me or give me new assignments in January for fear I wouldn't still be here. Sooo anxious for the little nugget to get here!.. or just for ANYTHING to happen! I lost my mucus plug a week ago, so all I've heard/thought for the past week is "any day now!". 3 more weeks of that would be torturous.
    Good luck to you!
  • Woke up this morning and felt like my belly was gone. I have been carrying small this whole pregnancy, but this just feels tiny all of the sudden. And I know baby was already engaged and super low as of my last appointment. I don't think babe can get any lower without falling out! I'm hoping this is a sign that I'm going into labor soon. Got a pedicure yesterday and sat for a long time in the massage chair hoping to shake the baby out. Acupuncture this afternoon. Scrubbing the floors tonight.
  • I had a combo of eventful and uneventful day today at my 38 week appointment (I'm 38+2.)  In eventful news, baby was being super lazy this morning (I had only felt 3 movements before my 10:30 appointment, and I was slightly concerned) so I mentioned it to the dr and she immediately ordered an ultrasound and sent me to L and D for a non stress test.  In good news, the ultrasound was fine, my fluids are fine, but baby was still being a bit sluggish.  Finally, after noon, and thanks to a large glass of ice water in L and D, she woke up and then started bopping around like she was in a dance contest!  Lol.  She passed the test with flying colors and all is well.

However, at my appointment I learned my cervix is still 100% closed.  :(  And again, I've still had no signs of anything, no contractions, no braxton hicks, no mucus plus, not even any colostrum leaking so... yeah.  I feel like she is cozy (and sleepy, apparently) in there.  Pretty sure I'm looking at a February baby.  :/
  • 38+4, appt today and still 1cm, 80% effaced, but baby has dropped down to a -1 station. She still has plenty of amniotic fluid to move around in, so she could decide to stay nice and comfy low down for a bit,  but OB said it's also likely we'll see her by her due date 10 days from now.

We have someone coming to clean our place tomorrow morning, so now the task is to not go crazy waiting and to not make too much of a mess between tomorrow and when she's born, since I know it will be nice coming home from the hospital to a clean house.

Tomorrow is also our anniversary, maybe I'll eat something spicy when we go out to see if I can get things moving a little quicker, I'm so impatient!

  • This afternoon when I was getting my school children ready to go home, I had super intense pains down very low.  It felt like LO was hitting something...something that hurt.  This has happened before, but usually only a few times as she readjusts, then it's over.  NOT TODAY.  She head-butted me every 5-10 seconds for 30 minutes.  I don't think they were contractions because they were not constant  but I don't know... I could barely walk.  Then, just like that, it was over.  Nothing.  I wish that labor would just happen, or nothing would happen.  I'm tired of trying to decipher all this shit happening to my body.
  • I'll be 39 tomorrow. Treating myself to a prenatal massage tonight... Dr appt tomorrow and hopefully having my membranes stripped... Of no labor yet then pedicure on thursday!! Come on baby!!!!
  • @paigeyferd Amen to your last sentence. Make up your mind, body. Either go into labor, or shut up!

  • Had some cramping all day wasn't sure if it was contractions or BH(bc I've never had them) they got a little more frequent and intense when ingot home from work but they seem to be spacing out more and subsiding now
  • Due tomorrow, I turned down the first offer of a cervix check this morning so as not to get my hopes up or down, but I've had what feels like menstrual cramps all morning so I'm hoping this is a sign! Tomorrow I'm going in for a non stress test to make sure baby is ok in there for now. No other signs so far.

Since we're due a snowstorm on Saturday and it's a full moon, I'm thinking that might be the day!

So I'm in labor. I was right about those not being braxton hick. 100 % effaced, stage 0 & 2 cms three hours ago.

Contractions 4-6 mins apart. Feels like those pregnancy Charlie horses but in your gut.

I'm still at it!!! Just got an epidural about an hour ago. I was SO exhausted. Horrible back labor. My lil baby cakes is sunny side up. I got stuck at 3 cm after being in labor for 36 hours. I couldn't handle it anymore. I did two rounds of stadol then decided on an epidural. Now it's just a waiting game. I love that I can actually wiggle my toes and move my legs. I had a phobia of being totally parlayed in my lower body by the epidural so I'm so glad that isn't the case. With the dose they have me on I can actually feel that I'm having a contraction but it doesn't hurt.
  • Spent 2 hours in assessment yesterday because I kept feeling like I was going to pass out and was having heart palpitation.

This morning I woke up with a headache and sore throat. As the day is progressing, I'm continually feeling worse with body aches, extreme fatigue and just all around crappy feeling. Seriously hope I'm not getting the flu! :(

  • Oh no @cameronreed - the flu at this point would suck!  I felt pretty sniffly and crappy yesterday and I just slept as long as humanly possible, and feel better today.  Just try to take it easy and rest, if you can!  Good luck!
  • Went for my appointment today, I'm 39+3 and finally dilated! 1-2cm only but better than last week when I wasn't at all. I'm hoping it means I'll be progressing into actual labour soon. My OB won't let me go more than 10 days past my due date so if baby isn't here by the 28th she's going to schedule an induction, it feels nice to have an end date in mind but I'm hoping little girl wants to come before that!
  • I got some action yesterday and today. 39+1 and got a sweep done yesterday at my appointment. Some slight spotting accompanied after. But then began to see some mucous and lost a big chunk of dark mucous plug this AM. I've also been having more contraction like happenings where Its hurting a little more, but very inconsistent. Maybe a couple an hour. I was and have been at 1 cm yesterday for a month and she stretched me to a 2. Hoping to have her sometime this week!

  • @maureenmce Thank you! Diarhhea and nausea just joined the symptom party. I'm not running fever so far, so I'm hoping it's either a 24 hour bug or (wishful thinking) early signs of impending labor. Ha.

  • 38w4d - have my husband's holiday party tonight. Dreading wearing a dress & heels. Hoping my BHs can't chill out tonight so
    I'm not totally miserable
  • So I ended up having a beautiful baby girl on 1/19. And I think what broke my water was when I had sex with my husband that night.
  • I've been having contractions every day since Friday. Yesterday they got pretty intense/painful. I decided to go to bed to make sure I got some rest in case it was the real deal and woke up and now nothing is happening. Sigh. So frustrating.

  • 38+4 and I started having contractions last night. They went away as soon as I laid down, but it was still something. I had my 38 week appt today and was 1cm dialated and 100% effaced. The Dr told me that with the blizzard coming and as far as I've progressed, they would consider inducing me, but since it's my first they really want it to happen on its own. Which could be any day now. So now I get to spend the next three days contemplating what to do if I go into labor when there's 20 inches of snow on the ground. I'm ready to be done, but really, really hoping I make it until Monday.
  • 39+5 today.  I've had some stray contractions here and there, but nothing remotely consistent.  Doctor appointment this afternoon, and I'm really hoping that I'm dilated a little bit.  I wasn't at all at my last cervix check.  I know it doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it would be nice to know that things are moving along.  This baby seems very content in her cozy space.

  • Hey ladies!  Looks like a bunch of us are starting to have contractions!  I joined the club (I think) last night, from 4:30-8:30 in the morning, but they didn't feel exactly like I thought they would (sharp pain, almost like gas pain, then crampiness) so I'm not 100% sure they were contractions, but they definitely did not go away for four hours!  So... probably?  Anyway, I'm hopeful this means something in terms of progress since as of Tuesday my cervix was still 100% closed.

I don't mind waiting until 40 or 41 weeks even, I'm just really hoping to avoid an induction, if I can!

That's what mine felt like! I wouldn't have known they were the real deal if I hadn't been hooked up to a monitor and the nurse told me they were real contractions. Good luck!
