Comments while breastfeeding

Re: Comments while breastfeeding

  • I actually reported the comment because I think it's very inappropriate to compare breastfeeding to urinating, defecating and having sex in public.  Personally, I could care less about what this lady thinks re: breastfeeding and I plan to feed my LO in whatever way is necessary, cover or no cover, but it makes me livid to think that her comments could possibly cause someone who's nervous about breastfeeding in public to second guess herself or feel any kind of shame about it.
My comments are within the guidelines of this forum, so you can have any feelings you wish. I am no the only one who thinks, that fully exposed breast in public is inappropriate. If someone will choose to be modest and cover after reading my words - nothing bad happened

@LIly436 you are sexualizing them when they are functioning like milk bottles for babies. The issue is with people like you that sexualize the breasts when someone is nursing in public, not the ladies that are feeding their babies in public. Your logic is the same as telling girls to change their clothes bc it distracts the boys, instead of teaching the boys to respect the girls and their bodies. I nursed in public and depending on my kid's mood, I sometimes had a cover and sometimes I didn't. I only got positive comments, never anything negative.
How would you like to explain you elementary school aged son, for example, why this woman is half naked?
In regards to girls and their clothes. You have not been in a high school for a long time - girls quite often dress like sluts and do need to change their clothes in order to not give boners to teachers and boys
I explained to all my older kids (DS-13, DDs-11 and 7) what breastfeeding is and have done it in front of them hundreds of times.  None of them see it as anything but normal.

  • She claims to be in the medical field too (third tri board comments). Is this really how a medical professional should act? Nope. Definitely a troll.

Wow. I explain it to plenty of young men: baby needs to eat and this is how babies eat. Sometimes they have bottles, but often this is how they eat. Most school age children just shrug and say "ok".

Why would a woman be half naked?! I've never once removed my shirt and bra and sat in public with my jeans on feeding my kid. It just hasn't ever happened.

OH MY GOD!! Girls need to change in order to not give boys boners?! Are you a time traveler?!

You know table skirts were used because the curves of table legs were too provocative for men to see?

Let's all wear burkas! We wouldn't want to be responsible for arousing males.

Out of curiosity, are you in the "she deserved to be raped for dressing like a slut" camp?

    Exactly what I was thinking
  • Can we just tie her to a chair and throw heavy rocks at her?

What about throwing fake boobs at her instead of rocks? Or maybe just making her sit there while everyone breast feeds? Or make her sit at a dinner table with food in front of her but all she can do is stare at it and not eat bc seeing other people eat makes everyone uncomfortable.
Or bottle feed our babies but still sit there with a boob hanging out.
