I never thought I'd feel the sting from insensitive comments re: TTC but now that I'm in cycle 4 I'm starting to feel emotional about not having the quick success I thought I was "entitled to", being young and healthy and all... Young&Healthy =/= super fertility.

My sister is basically a bull in a china shop on a good day; she will go to all lengths to be "right", even if it means low blows. My knee jerk reaction is always to cut her out, but really I just need to tolerate and shut up. She has NO idea how reckless she is, and the more I react, the quicker she turns into the victim. *Sigh*

    WAYDTGKU: ugh...AF

R/R/CS: I just hate AF. But for a rave, I have the day off tomorrow!

GTKY: grilled chicken and a fresh salad or broccoli. Mmm broccoli sounds delicious right about now.

Eta: @strickland8052 I laughed out loud!

@PrettyPalomino sorry about your sister! That's such a terrible thing for her to say!

Also, I told hubby I was leaving BD'ing up to him today, since we've really been going hard and yesterday was an EWCM day. He already tells me I'm milking him for a baby!

R/R/CS: Just waiting patiently to O. I thought I'd get an elevated temp this morning, but nerp. Maybe tomorrow.

GTKY: What is your favorite healthy dinner? I've got this great recipe for Mexican vegetable soup with hominy that I like to make.

R/R/CS:  I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but it is now day 6 of flashing smileys.  It is like an evil little face just dancing around taunting me.  I really thought I would get a solid smiley today.  CD 13 is the latest I've seen the solid smiley in the past, so this cycle will be the latest for me assuming I will see one.

GTKY: What is your favorite healthy dinner?  Really anything involving pasta.  Trying a new lemon and pesto pasta dish tonight.
  • A little more energy to get in at least some chatter!

@sarah0985 That salad sounds fantastic, I need to try it!

@PrettyPalomino I would scream! In my head because I hate confrontation. I'm sorry your sis is being such a b. People seem to really think they belong in other people's bedrooms, I don't get it. Maybe there was some misplaced good intention in there.

@LizaKate1213 what kind of work do you do? I am hoping I can financially handle transitioning to per diem after have a little one!

@BusinessWife Sorry to see you here!! I'm dropping soda this cycle and doing green tea and water instead. If this cycle doesn't work out I'm thinking of jumping on the OPK train next cycle - hope they work for you!
  • @BusinessWife I did Blue Apron a few weeks ago and am going to again soon. I really liked it. The recipes are delicious and pretty healthy and it's so so so nice to have the ingredients delivered to your door. My one major issue with it is that there's not enough for leftovers. When I cook, I make enough so that DH can bring some for lunch the next day, and there's just no doing that on the Blue Apron two person plan.

  • @khbear117 I am a psych nurse, currently on evenings 3-11:30pm and the hospital I work at is 40 minutes away. I get home at 12:15 on a good night, which is nearly impossible for DH since he has to be at work at 8am. Its my roundabout way of becoming a day shifter!
    BabyGaga
  • @LizaKate1213 Ooooo gosh, I don't think I could ever work in psych. I am an OB nurse, and thankfully I recently got on day shift. When I worked nights (7p-7a), I could go a full week without any interaction with DH. We would text eachother and some items both be home, but one of us was always sleeping opposite the other. I'm sorry for your schedule!
  • Hi! First timer in WTO!

@PrettyPalomino You must have the patience of a saint to be able to spend time with your sister after that! I'm angry for you!!

    Cycle/Month: 3/4

    CD: 65 Ugh.

WAYDTGKU: OPK, PNV, will start temping when AF shows up...

R/R/CS: This is my first crazy long cycle since TTC. I can tell how disappointed DH is, especially since our best friends told us they were pregnant a couple weeks ago. Trying to just keep trucking along, waiting for AF to come back from hiatus (hopefully before I go to the Dr. on Friday!).

GTKY: What is your favorite healthy dinner? Salmon and veggies, or spaghetti squash and marinara. I keep it simple around here!!

First time posting in WTO, long-time lurker all over the TTGP boards. Hi!

Cycle/Month: 4/3 (charting and off BCP for 6 months)

    CD: 9

WAYDTGKU: BBT, PNV, Wondfo OPKs, BD, just got Robitussin this morning after re-reading parts of TCOYF / grasping at straws

R/R/CS: Had a tough start to this cycle with one friend announcing her pregnancy on my CD1 (I am genuinely happy for her, though) and another on my CD2 ("Oh my gosh, can you believe I got pregnant the month after I got married, the first time we tried?! Let me tell you EVERY SINGLE DETAIL of the first 12 weeks!") (I am having trouble being genuinely happy for her). Feeling somewhat better now, though! Optimistic for this cycle.

GTKY: What is your favorite healthy dinner? Oh gosh, so many. I suppose my favorite is ground turkey -- seasoned to taste like Korean bulgogi -- over quinoa. And raw veggies.

@korycir and @BusinessWife - Love that you are both trying guaifenesin this month too! Hadn't seen many people talking about it on here so wasn't sure if it was worth trying. I was feeling a little bit crazy for buying it today and haven't even told my husband.

***Edited to remove mention of green tea -- a later poster pointed out that there may be negative effects; don't want to mislead anyone.

@LizaKate1213 I absolutely love my job and could only see myself changing if I get super tired of 12 hr shifts and holidays. I joined AWHONN and kept up on OB literature. I also networked with the ladies who worked in the unit I got my job in. I kept touch with them so I knew when a spot may open, and I'm sure it didn't hurt my chances of getting the job that I already knew several staff members and had positive relationships going already. It wouldn't hurt to take a beginners course in FHM - I didn't do this but it's something you would have to do when hired into L&D, so some basic knowledge would help.

I was working PRN in the hospital I currently work at, but on a different floor. If you're really not enjoying psych anymore, my suggestion for a long term goal is to grab a job in that hospital anywhere that sounds interesting! A lot of people get to L&D by another route like working a mother/baby or nursery unit.

ETA - also volunteer for any committee, council, project, whatever! That is ALWAYS a plus to a future employer!

I'm anxious to turn OPK positive... have the wondfo strips, and they've been "test line slightly lighter than control line" for two days now... been testing twice a day lol.

GTKY: Thai food all day everyday... not sure if that counts as healthy though haha

I have so many favorites. Friday was Salmon crusted with wasabi peas and Boy choy, thursday was white bean chicken chili (essentially beans, salsa verde, and chicken) with avocado & chips on top. We like to make asian chicken salad with snow peas, mandarin oranges, roasted almonds, and a homemade sesame ginger dressing.

  • @cjt121413  Yes! It takes some time if you do everything from scratch (or you cheat and get a Greek salad from Panera and put it in one of your serving bowls haha) but it is so so good.  Your quinoa meal sounds really good, but unfortunately DH is scarred for life after a bad gastronomic experience with quinoa in Peru.  I guess there's nothing to stop me from making it for lunch though!
@BusinessWife Thanks so much for helping me reframe it that way!  I feel like I was part of the way there, but never fully letting go of this feeling that I was giving up on something - chocolate, more time in my warm bed in the morning (instead of going to the gym). Just have to remind myself that I'm choosing health, my future, hopefully my future child's health... Sorry to see you back on WTO.  Very sweet that your H wanted a post-mortem.  Mine is still very la-dee-da about the whole process :expressionless: Well, maybe it's because I'm always sticking FF in his face like, "See, we should have done it this day!"

  • @longliveregina Ugh, in a fit of research last night I stumbled across a number of sources saying green tea boosts CM! I also read on What To Expect that one cup a day can help make eggs more viable. But now that I'm looking up green tea + implantation, it looks like there was a study on rats at some point that showed implantation might be affected. Sigh. Guess I'll stick with water!

  • @YesOuiCan what negative effects of green tea? I know last time we TTC, a lot of the women on this board were recommending green tea. I hadn't heard/read any adverse effects?
  • Jumping in on the green tea convo.... I think the issue is that it's caffeinated. I drank it (not regularly or anything) before I was pregnant with DS but stopped as soon as I found out because I cut out all caffeine.

  • @JamieK1882 I had read it was good too and just got some this morning! Someone after me commented that it can cause problems with implantation, so I was responding to that. I've been looking into it more just now, and it sounds like green tea can be good while WTO (improves CM), but could possibly be detrimental during the TWW. I think I will continue having one cup a day until my peak day, then stop from O through TWW. But since it seems to be a slightly controversial topic, I won't include it in my WAYDTGKU. :)

That is just however many cycles/months (because it's often different if you have longer/shorter cycles and such) you've been TTC. So if you've been TTC for 1 month and 1 cycle then you're 1/1. Or if you have long cycles and it's been 1 cycle but 2 months then you're 2/1. You get the idea.

If AF showed up 3 days after you thought you ovulated then you may want to consider temping. It will take the guesswork out of when you ovulated (past tense.) You'll see have to consider other fertility signs to try to time sex well for ovulation since temping won't tell you when you will ovulate. Although, I can understand wanting to just see what happens for a couple of months without worrying with temping and such.

I will consider temping next cycle, we only decided to TTC the day I thought I had ovulated (based on CM) so it was a bit late to worry about temping.
