So an old childhood friend of mine totally just named her newborn daughter Rihanna.

My ex-husband's son's bio-mother had a daughter after him and named her Rhianna, Ree-Anne-uh, not to be confused with Ree-On-uh...She was a redneck from middle Florida. Then the state took her and the kid she had after her, named, Lola. I can't make that shit up. Now she's a meth-head in Phoenix. lol That has nothing to do with the story, I just like to say it..

    ---QBF

Rihanna has one of the most popularly mispronounced names... It actually is pronounced ree-anna, and not ree-on-uh. I heard her say that in an interview, and shrug it off saying whatever, people know who I am!

If our LO was a girl I did want to name her Rhiannon after the Stevie Knicks song, but my fiancé said it sounded too much like Rihanna so it was completely off the table.

  • DS has been saying he's going to puke for the last two hours but it wasn't happening so I figured it was a false alarm and let him go play.

Then I hear *splat* coming from the living room, running feet, *splat* in hallway, *splat* in bathroom then cue "oh no, MOMMMM!"

FTMs, this is your future. Hand scrubbing floors on a Friday night. Mom has never wanted a glass (bottle) of wine more than she does at this very moment. Happy weekend, y'all.
  • Made the mistake of looking at a picture of myself from July. It was a side view. Oh my stomach. If anyone needs me, I'm going to go cry into a strawberry milkshake.

You'll get there again! For tonight, just enjoy your milkshake.

Dry (used) coffee grounds! Soaks up the liquid yuck so it's easier to sweep up and helps cover the smell. That was our trick when I counseled at summer camp :)

  • My mom is taking over throwing my baby shower from my sister because she's a complete control freak, which I seriously don't care about, except she keeps trying to make me plan shit for it! Pretty sure my duties for this are hand you invite list, registry information, and show up, Mother... And I'm especially not that into planning anything after our gender reveal party went from 30 confirmed attendees, to 6 people actually showing up... (I know it's been almost two months, I need to get over it)

Then when I do tell her things I would prefer, I get an argument about how that isn't fun for everyone else...

Example: "What type of games should we play?"

Me: "To be honest I haven't attended a baby shower since sister number two had baby number one (over 6 years ago) so I don't know what games are out there?"

Her "Oh well we HAVE to play the water broke game with the plastic babies! And the don't say baby game! And the guess what candy in the diaper game... Oh and a chugging contest from baby bottles!"

Me: "If you think our families will enjoy those then ok, but I've heard the first two games aren't very popular anymore because they have kind of been done to death. Since we are using cloth diapers, and part of our reasoning is not contributing to adding waste to landfills, I definitely want to skip that game. I can see where the baby bottle chugging thing would be funny, but what would we do with them afterwards? I'd hate to buy something just for a game and then get wasted because we're going to breastfeed and if we do use bottles I don't want to use ones that I've seen my adult friends sucking out of... I saw an idea on Pinterest for like a guessing game to see who knows the mom and dad best, I'll send to you. That could be neat? And maybe a pin the moustache on the baby game? I know no matter how old you are that game is awesome"

Her "Well if you don't like anything I choose you can just plan your own damn party since you're just going to be so selfish about it!"

I would seriously be fine with whatever she picks, but if she actively seeks my opinions WTF???

That one annoys me. You can't weigh yourself fasting vs not and then claim to have gained a pound in half a week.

Side note, I am looking forward to being weighed fasting at my next dr appt before my glucose exam because hopefully for once the scale won't show a big leap :P

I've concluded that I need to stop eating a huge lunch RIGHT BEFORE my appointments from now on. I probably have 5 lbs of food baby on top of my actual baby that's been calculated in every time. Once my appointments start moving from 2 to 3:45, it shouldn't be a problem. The last three months I've had lunch in the doctors office parking lot.

Registry day! Sort of... desperately trying to Google WTF a baby actually needs, while simultaneously adding it to 3 different online registries. Husband is leading the charge and has approximately 82534 tabs open, and he's switching so fast between them that I don't even know what's going on. 2 hours in, and we've registered for 4 things.

Can we please please please just go to a baby store and use the wand thinger and get this over with in an hour?

This was me and DH totally! I used Lucie's List to help me

DH and I went to a store to try to make the process easier...I got overwhelmed and we left 10 minutes later. Registries suck.
  • @AGK2015 @AmadorRose I used a basic registry and then changed out things for stuff with higher ratings or took out brands that I didn't trust for specific things. Target and Babies-R-Us give you example ones (I think). If you're getting a pump through insurance, you can take a pump off the registry. If you're doing disposable diapers, I recommend putting about 3 boxes of sizes 1, 2, and 3 on there. There's always someone who goes for that because they have no idea what to get babies. Also, nipple cream. That stuff is amazing...

I used the BabysRUs checklist. They have things categorized as essential and good-to-have, so you know what you may need but are not guilted into getting everything.

I was curious which nipple creams were recommended/reviewed so I found this website with information I thought was helpful, especially being FTM.

  • Thanks all. We finally came to an agreement that I'd provide the list of general equipment that we need to register for, and he'd do the research to figure out what actual items would go on the registry. Thank GOD, because I was about 1 crib mattress review away from throwing myself out the window. Working my way through modifying the Babies R'Us checklist, then I'm off the hook.

The idea of my father or grandpa buying me nipple cream kind of scares me.
  • I registered online at babies r us then went to the store to pick out the stroller and a few other things I needed to see in person. It was pretty painless.
I registered on Amazon as well.

  • The Broncos are playing and I really want to watch the game... DS doesn't like angry yelling though, so I have to take him somewhere else during the game and check for updates on my phone. I'm half tempted to take a last minute trip to IKEA to avoid all of the swearing and to distract myself.

I'm sorry you have to miss the game, but I honestly hope the broncos lose just so MIL stops posting shit all over Facebook about them. You're from TEXAS, woman! You've only lived near Denver for 8 years and the Packers lost last night, so no other team matters anymore. :'(

No periods. I added them so it can't be searched.

Even without the middle name, the combined name is terrible... Especially when you read it as last name and then first name (I looked it up).

  • Have you guys heard of the "Sexiest Doctor Alive"? I just came across this. The guy is handsome, indeed, although he is training at a hospital I've never heard of - he seems to be more focused on the 'sexiest' than on the 'doctor' part of his title. :)

    Enjoy:
