Also Im with @Knottie9983816 brrrrr! I don't even understand what that temperature MEANS @mrstrax ! Do you just have to stay indoors all the time??
Pretty much. You know the little brother in Christmas Story who ends up with so many layers he can't put his arms down? That's what the kids waiting for the bus look like. We mostly do lots of running/jogging to and from vehicles, if you can get them to start if you park outside. We volunteer at church on Sunday's and I'm just hoping the van starts. We should probably bring the battery in the house overnight...
At about 7 AM this morning my BFF texted me freaking out because her cousin is being induced and she's only 37 weeks pregnant. Apparently this is a surprise and emergency induction, but my BFF didn't realize that until later. DH looked over and asked who I was texting so early in the morning instead of getting ready for work. I told him who and simply said "her cousin is getting induced at 37 week." His response? "That is not a thing. Why would you do that? That kid needs to cook more." I have taught him well! After I told him it was medically relevant, he let it go, but it was so cute and funny to see him upset about something like that.
One of my favorite Alan Rickman movies is Galaxy Quest. I quote him all of the time
I actually don't get too beat up when celebrities pass... But this one! Ugh, truly one of my favorite actors. In tons of my favorite movies, like the aforementioned, all of HP, Sweent Todd, sense and sensibility, The Butler. The list goes one..
I leave with his quote, "I said Miners not minors!"
So sad and coincidental Alan Rickman and David Bowie are both 69 and passed days apart. I was just reminiscing about Galaxy Quest, Robin Hood, and of course Harry Potter.
Alan Rickman was one of my favorite actors ever! So sad. A bad week to be an awesome, 69-year old British man apparently.
Hey, don't get me wrong from my post earlier; I am all for OJ pulp. I just like the natural quantity. I think it can become too pulpy and then I have to chew my juice.
Our stroller is here!!!!! I'm nervous, as we bought it without seeing this particular model because we just loved the style of their regular stroller. Also I chose red and not black, and now I'm nervous it's just going to get dirty.
Can't wait for DH to get home so we can look at it/so-he-can-put-it-together-for-me!!!

Red > black. Any day of the week. Just saying. Mostly because red is my all time favorite color
It seems like no matter what color you get, the nasty always shows through.
@fbanke42 I love red too, it's so bright and happy! I just couldn't resist it once I saw it came in red. And if the nasty always shows, might as well get the color I want, haha!
@RoseShadow873 I can tell you from my experience that it can be doable. I was in the middle of an online class for my BA when I had #3. I took the few weeks off work prior to my due date to get ahead on work and I did fine. I had one more class after she was born and finished it with no issues on my maternity leave. I was able to do my do my discussions and papers during her naps and even when she was just hanging out. I'm in the middle of my masters now. Ill be in the middle of class when #4 gets here and I have the same game plan this go around. Good luck to you!!
@fbanke42@emgee27 that's what stroller liners are for! Our stroller is silver fabric and either silver or pink canopy so I'm planning on getting a reversible liner made for it in the next couple of months (waiting to see if DH gets the offroad/jogging stroller he wants and then I'll order one for him too). I'm planning to order from Sage Oakley designs (on facebook) - tons of cute fabric options. Bubba & Blue is another popular facebook shop. If you're good with a sewing machine, you could make your own instead...my skills don't extend that far, though.

I'm getting a Mickey Mouse stroller so gonna him a little Hanna Montana here "You get the best of both worlds!" (Haha I'm being dumb)
I keep thinking that I'm totally over my nausea, and then it hits me like sack of potatoes to the gut. HG can go die in a fire. I really want to call in sick so I can just sleep the day away, but I've already showered and put in my contacts... Time to put on my big girl panties and suck it up. At least it's Friday! I can sleep in a little bit tomorrow before DS wakes my butt up.
@fbanke42 I don't have HG, but I definitely have lingering nausea randomly. I woke up a few days before Christmas break feeling horrible, even hung my head over the toilet for a few minutes, but didn't get sick so I decided I was going to head to work anyway...definitely threw up in a plastic grocery bag WHILE driving. I went home ha.
I woke up with pimples everywhere! Ugh! I guess I should be thankful I've gone almost a whole 2 trimesters without these pesky things popping up, but still I'm enraged
@kalanieileen mine mostly went away after 1st tri, and I'm praying it stays gone. I can definitely commiserate - it's hard trying to adult when your skin says you're 16!

This has been me almost the whole pregnancy so far! First tri it was alllll down the sides of my face, and between my eyebrows. Now there are fewer of them but they like to hide out on my chin and around my nose and linger for weeks at a time

My back with DD was atrocious. I'm wearing a nursing cami in the pictures of her first non-sink bath and it's crazy how mottled it was even after the actual acne was gone. Luckily it went back to normal since.
Husband's company just announced their revised parental leave policy; he gets 3 weeks paid parental leave, plus 2 weeks ability to work from home! The initial thought was he'd be home for only a week before heading back to the office. The "Holy shit I'm gonna have a baby and I don't think I'm good enough at adulting for this" panic has been hitting hard in the past couple of days, so this announcement couldn't have come at a better time. Knowing that he'll be around for the first 5 weeks definitely calms some of the jitters.

Similar to @AGK2015 we just found out that DHs company counts the calendar year you hit 5 years at the company as the one they give an extra week of PTO - and he hits 5 years at the end of December. We assumed it wouldn't come into effect until 2017, but nope! Bonus week of Daddy time!!
I am so so sick of all the stupid questions my students keep asking me. Yes, there is most definitely such a thing as a stupid question. When the PowerPoint slide that has been up since this morning, as it is EVERY.SINGLE.DAY, and that I have gone over with the whole class, says to turn in an assignment...don't come asking me "what am I supposed to do with this assignment?" ...really?!? And the students are taking a quiz. I went over the questions with them before they began. During the quiz kid turns around and asks me "do we have to do question 8?" No, you don't have to do it, I just put the question on there with its point value for kicks and giggles, but don't bother yourself with actually answering the question...from the content we've been covering...since BEFORE Christmas.
Clearly I'm in need of this three day weekend... And omg, I love this gif, I feel like this is my thinking a probably a million and one times a day...
@imrachellea Ugh. Why do people suck? I want to bang my head against the wall each time one of my coworkers talks, just because it's either ALWAYS a stupid question or her refusing to do something simple because "she doesn't want to get in trouble." How about this: if you don't do your job, YOU WILL BE IN TROUBLE. She seriously makes everyone else have to do her work because she just says nope and moves on. I even told her specifically to do something and she ignored it because "she didn't want to get in trouble." I vote we put your students and my coworker in the same room and just leave them there while we go get pedicures and prenatal massages.
@imrachellea@fbanke42 I'm assuming one of you works somewhere in K-12, so just to fill in the blanks between K-12 and the work force, I work with university students and am here to report they also ask stupid, redundant questions, especially as a reply to emails I send where their answer is right THERE in the email I just sent you!!!!!!!!! READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@elasticheart13 Oh wow. Rihanna is an intense name. I wanted to name our son Drake, because I have always loved the name, but would NEVER because of the hip hop artist.
So an old childhood friend of mine totally just named her newborn daughter Rihanna.
My ex-husband's son's bio-mother had a daughter after him and named her Rhianna, Ree-Anne-uh, not to be confused with Ree-On-uh...She was a redneck from middle Florida. Then the state took her and the kid she had after her, named, Lola. I can't make that shit up. Now she's a meth-head in Phoenix. lol That has nothing to do with the story, I just like to say it..

Ugh yes. I TA'd an online, 100 level computer class (basics like monitor/tower/modem etc, and Office) while I was in college and the number of stupid questions was astonishing. The worst part was the helicopter parent emails though. Sorry, your kid is an adult - if they're failing, it's on them to fix it.
Slight tangent - my parents expected me to be the primary contact for grade questions or problems with teachers (only stepping in if I couldn't solve my own problem) starting in MIDDLE SCHOOL. How is it possible that parents think they should be the ones to debate a grade in college?!? Will you be calling Johnny's boss if he gets passed up for a promotion?
I just sent that Russell Brand gif to my sister... Not because she's an oxygen thief, but because she's sick, loves Russell Brand, and most of our relationship is either talking about kids or about how people are all stupid.
I saw this thing on Pinterest where you recreate a picture of your mom holding you as a newborn, and you holding your newborn and framing them for Mother's Day. I'm so doing that this year! And using this pic. (Omg my mom used to be so skinny!!!)

A student today mimicked everything everyone said. Literally everything. All day. My patience level is already low there days, but good lord. I need alcohol, but a 3 day weekend will have to do.

I'm coming up blank - what's the holiday?
Martin Luther King Day. In theory, it's supposed to be a day of volunteering to serve your community. In practice, it's a 3 day weekend that also serves as an opportunity for politicians to pay lip service to diversity and white Americans to pat themselves on the back for having solved racism back in the 60s. Good times!
@thaisac1it's Martin Luther King, Jr Day. Not everyone has it off, but many do (and most/all? schools).
Ah, I see. Cheers for 3-day weekends. When I lived in MN the hospital only recognized 5 holidays: Xmas, New Years, thanksgiving, Memorial Day and labor day. Thus I'm completely oblivious to all other US holidays!
MLK, Jr. Day in my life = clients off school and then will last minute cancel their appointments at my office, leaving me to sit in the office for most of the day NOT getting paid. WEEEEEE!

On a good note, DH found out that his current boss would hire him back if he couldn't find work after his studio job!
/end rant
