Gianna Kate was born on 1/14/16 at 41 weeks 5 days by unplanned csection. She was 7 lbs 13 oz and 19 inches long. Induction due to low fluids let to c section because I could not dilate past 3 cm no matter what we did. Recovery really freaking sucks. I just wanna stay in the bed all day but her sweet face is so worth it.
Christopher Jr was born 1/9/16, original due date 1/14/16. He was 11 pounds 2 ounces, 22 inches long. 39w1d
I was having a slow leak since 1 am on Friday. I didn't get worried because I already had a false alarm with 2 gushes I thought were my water on Dec 23rd. Went to work but kept leaking. I called my doctor and she assumed it may not be anything but to go to the hospital for some peace of mind. We got to the hospital at 8:30 p on Friday. They do the test and it initially said negative but the nurse said we must wait the full 20 minutes and it said positive. I didn't want a cesarean unless necessary so I attempted to go natural without epidural. They encouraged cesarean since my last ultrasound measured baby boy at 10#5oz but I was determined. long story short, pitocin was up to 32 with no progress as I started at a 1 and only progressed at a 3 because he would not descend. Doctor said i needed to get the cesarean as it's almost 4 pm on Saturday which is too long since water breaking. They do a spinal block as I never got the epidural and at 4:21 my big ol baby was born! We were the talk of the hospital as everyone wanted to see the 11 pound baby and yes I passed my diabetes test. He just was big. Lol
Charlotte made her way into my world on January 13th at 10:32 PM. She weighed 7lbs 10 oz and was 20 inches long. My labor was 26 hours long (induction) and she was worth every ounce of pain. I couldn't be more in love.
My water broke on 1/13//16 at 7:30am, went to L&D with no contractions. We tried so hard to have him naturally but it just didn't work out as planned. After a grueling 30 hours of induced labor, Evan Oliver was born healthy at 1:02pm 1/14/16 weighing 8lbs 11oz and 19 3/4inches via C-section at 39w+ 6d. I feel like my heart is going to burst with happiness. We are so in love with our baby boy
Katana Josephine was born 1/14 at 7:35am. Weighing 6lb 14oz and 20 inches long. Went into L&D Tuesday after my OB was concerned with my high blood pressure and me seeing a black spot in my vision. That night set me up with cervidil and then started pitocin early Wednesday morning. Over 24 hours later starting at a 1 and not advancing past an 'almost 4' and breaking my water they decided to do a c-section. Baby is doing great and so am I. Beyond in love with my little girl!!!
Simon Paul James was born at precisely 11 PM on January 13, 2016. EDD was January 7th. 6lbs 14oz. Contractions had started at exactly 11 PM on January 12th. 24 hours of labor, 40 minutes of pushing and finally we had our beautiful baby boy. My stomach might now be empty, but my arms (and heart) are full! He is so perfect, I can't get over it!!
Finn Samuel born at 40weeks+3 days 7lbs, 11 oz 20 1/2 inches Born January 9th Water broke at 3:30 am and he was born at 5:15am, no stage one labor almost didn't make it to the hospital
After a short 5 hour labor and a crap epidural, Jack Henry was born on Saturday Jan. 2nd at 9:52 pm weighing 7lbs 1 oz and 19 inches long. I was due on 1/9 but I'd been having contractions on and off for weeks and was 3cm and 90% effaced, so I figured I wouldn't make it to the due date, plus this is my second child. That Saturday I got a prenatal massage in the afternoon and I told her to push on some pressure points (???). That's when I first started feeling actual painful contractions, not BH, but they only lasted about 30 seconds and I only had a few during the afternoon. By 5:30 that evening I realized, hello, this is probably happening. Contractions were 3-4 minutes apart but only lasting 30-45 seconds, but they were definitely painful! Since they were short I (stupidly) waited for them to get longer before calling my MIL to come get dd. Got to the hospital around 7:30, got checked right away and was 6-7 cm already. I was brought right to the delivery room and asked for the epidural. They said I first had to get 2 full bags of fluids before I could have it. I freaked out because I NEEDED it, and I didn't think I'd have time for the damn bags to empty. My doctor arrived around 8:45 and checked me (still no epidural yet- I was crying and moaning, it was awful). He checked me and I was 8-9 cm. I freaked out and BEGGED for the epidural. Luckily, the anethesiologist wasn't busy and happened to be there already and willing to help me out, thank god! So I got the epidural at 9:00, doctor broke my water and I was pushing by 9:10 and Jack was born at 9:52. The epidural took the edge off the contractions but I still felt the horribly named, yet accurate, ring of fire. I think the crowning was the worst part of the whole thing. The cord was around his neck really tight, although the heart monitor never picked up anything dangerous, so once his head was out I was told to stop pushing and stop screaming so the doctor could take care of that. Just horrible. But then it was over!
My little man was born on 1/14. Went to L&D to be induced on the 13th. After starting and stopping oxytocin twice they took me off to sleep for the night. I did not realize I was laboring all night long. Doc came in to check me at 8am and told me she felt his head and it's time to push. 3 pushes later Tyler came into this world. So thrilled I did not need an epidural with this delivery!
Welcome to the world Elizabeth Grace! Born 1/15 at 12:54 am. 40 + 1 and 7 lbs 15 oz.
After 32 hours in active labor following induction, her head was stuck in my pelvis and I had dilated from 9cm all the way back to 5 (I didn't even know it was possible to go backwards). Had to have an emergency c section because both of our temps spiked to 102. She's in nicu until Sunday morning being treated with antibiotics for an infection that she got because my water had been broken for so long.
Ellen Rose arrived 1/14 at 1:44 am, 7.5 lbs, 19 inches long. My water broke at the hospital, and then things moved too fast from there for an epidural to be of any help. It was a wild ride, but she is healthy and doing well. We are going home today.
Welcome to the world Madeline Sherry! Maddie was born 1/15/16 at 6:47am, weighing 6lbs, 7oz and 18 inches long.
I went into labor early on 1/13 but was concerned about "crying wolf" so I waited until my appointment which was the next day at 2:30pm. At our appointment she scored very low on our BPP so I was sent to the hospital to induce labor (little did I know, I was already 24 hours in!)
The hospital gave me cervadil to help with dilation and my water broke on its own around 1:40am. I got the epidural around 4:00am and was ready to push at 6:24am. She entered the world about 20 minutes later.
We're both doing well now after a tough first day. Maddie had to have her tummy sucked because she took in too much amniotic fluid.
Benno Mathias was born January 15 at 12:50am (39 weeks exactly). He weighed 9lbs 2oz and was 21inches long.
Went into my appointment on Thursday and it was determined I was still 6vm dilated but baby boy was in better position and I was effaced fully. Checked into labor and delivery at 1pm, had my water broken at 4:15pm, pitocin started at 830pm. Started pushing at 12:10am and he was out 40 minutes later!
I had done the natural route with our DD so planned the same this time around (no IV meds or epidural). Well apparently my DD was just super nice to mommy because even though this labor and pushing was 1/3 shorter than DDs, it was intense and brutal! Ouch, ouch, ouch! But so worth it in the end!
Levi Albert-Ray Simpkin was born on his dad's birthday, at 8:24pm on 01/15/2016. He weighed 8lbs, 5oz. He is 19 and 3/4 inches long. Born at 40weeks and 4 days. I was woken up for what I thought were Braxton hicks throughout the early morning of 01/15. Until I woke up enough to realize that they were real as they were waking me up, and painful. I waited until about 7 minutes apart, and took a shower which brought them down to 5 minutes very quickly. Went to L&D where they told me I was 5cm dilated, -2 and 90% effaced. They admitted me, and I immediately got the epidural and my catheter put in. Which my epidural was amazing. They broke my water around 5pm which brought me to 0 stage, 100% effaced and 6cm. At 8pm the midwife decided to check me again, as I still wasn't feeling any pressure or any pains because of the epidural. When she checked me she told me to do a practice push, and you could see his head. 8:24pm my little man was born after 12 minutes of pushing, and 11 hours of labor. I didn't feel a thing. It was amazing. Baby and I are both recovering well. But the cramps from breastfeeding suck more than anything.
Kylie made her appearance this morning 1/16 at 9:08 am at 38w 6d. Yesterday I came to L&D at the advice of my midwife, and was having contractions 2-4 mins apart but not strong enough. Luckily they gave me morphine and I went home to sleep. At about 1 am the contractions were back with more gusto. I stuck it out about an hour at home, got to the hospital at 2:30 am and was admitted at 4 cm. got my epidural right away and 6.5 hours later had my beautiful girl in my arms. A much much easier delivery than with my first! She is a chunky monkey at 8 lbs 8.8 oz, almost 2 lbs bigger than her brother.
We were sent to the hospital because of high blood pressure, when we got there they admitted us because her fetal heart tones were dropping once in a while, they started an induction at 7pm, I got all the way to a 7 on the pitocin and dilated to a 4 so they broke my water, that was when the REAL contractions started. At about 10am the next day her heart tones were dropping down into the 50s and going back up to the 160s pretty vigorously so they rushed us into emergency csection and we got a beautiful and healthy baby girl at 10:37!
Benjamin Frederick 1/11/16 @3:28 pm EDD 1/16/16 8.4lbs 21.5 inches
After 3 days of 8 hours a day of prodromal labor shit got real! 24 hours of labor, 17 hours on my own either at home or walking around the hospital until I caved and got the epidural. I was only 3-4 and couldn't imagine how much longer I could go without one and still have energy. They gave it, broke my water, and he had passed his meconium. I knew there was a time limit, they held off on adding pitocin and thankfully I didn't need it. In another 7 hours I was fully dilated and ready to push.
Pushing was going really well until he started crowning and I started tearing, I was tearing near my urethra and they did an episiotomy to stop that. Then he presented with shoulder dystocia and things got a little crazy. There were 3 people in the delivery room and pretty quickly at least 10 more rushed in (including a peds team). With some serious maneuvering of me and skilled docs pulling out one shoulder at a time he was thankfully able to be born vaginally. It was insane and I still can't believe it happened but it was all worth it.
He had no issues with the meconium and the only birth injury is a cephalhemotoma which will go away with time. I never imagined I could be so in love or so much more in love with DH seeing him as a Daddy. It's the best thing ever.
She's here!! Lucy Agnes entered the world 01/15/16 at 10:18pm weighing 8lbs 9 and 53cm long. Not the birth I'd dreamed of. Full of interventions and complications for mama and baby but we're both on the mend now and I'd do it all again for her. We're so in love. Now if we could just get out of this damn hospital!!
Went to the hospital Saturday around 12:00am and was admitted at 2:00 am - 3cms dilated and 90% effaced. Got my epidural at 4:30 and was ready to start pushing at 10:30. Pushed for a half hour and our beautiful baby boy was born at 11:02. He weighs 7lbs 5oz and measures 20 inches long. We are both doing great!!
After a long night in L&D with sky high bp and preeclampsia issues, they broke my water at 8:30 this morning, started pitocin at 9, I caved and got an epidural at 11 and after only 30 minutes of pushing, our Bates Ross came kicking and screaming! He has taken to breastfeeding like a dream so far, and he has daddy wrapped around his little finger. They are the bestest of buddies.
It's been fun chatting with you ladies these past million weeks! May you all have wonderful recoveries and healthy babies and mommies.
After 18 hours of induced labor, Zackery Scott Arnold was born at 9lbs 14oz measuring 21 inches long. I was 4 days overdue and he was supposed to be 8lbs. Lol
Everyone meet Aurora Jane Wright. Born 1/16/16. 8 pounds, 20 1/2 inches long. 11:30pm. Labor didn't go as planned. Wanted natural. They popped my water (induction plan) at 9:55am, started pushing at 5:30, but after 3hrs I was exhausted and couldn't go any longer and got an epidural. She was sunny side up and was getting stuck. Had a c-section and doc said she has never had a babies head that stuck.
Wilder Lee, born 1/13/16 at 3:47 am. 8 lbs 15 oz and 21 inches long. My rainbow baby.
Congrats to everyone who's already posted here, best wishes to everyone who's still waiting, and thanks especially to the PGAL community on this board.
Finally at 42 weeks our son Marlo Jack Sprague was born on January 14th! 7 lbs 1 oz, 21.5 inches, lots of hair! Pretty happy and cuddly disposition after being verrrry stubborn coming out!
Started having mild contractions 1-2 minutes apart around 11-12 am January 13th after taking the midwife cocktail under supervision to induce at 9 (yes it's the castor oil one...also has lemon verbena, almond butter, apricot juice - FWIW I didn't get sick at all and didn't pop during labour/delivery. He had meconium, but again I was 2 weeks overdue.) Contractions progressed in intensity fairly quickly and stayed 1-2 minutes the whole labour. The doula came over by 3 and we called the midwife by 4. Was a 6 around 6 pm with bulging water, so we decided to head to the hospital. Progressed fairly quickly at the hospital to a 7-8, enjoyed labouring in the shower the most. I think around 12 I seemed to be transitioning as I had some back to back intense contractions, so the midwife checked me but I hadn't progressed. I can't remember if she broke my water at that point or I laboured a bit longer and had another check with no progression, but once my water was broken the midwife realized baby hadn't turned from LOA and thought that could be the issue with progression of dilation. There was very thin meconium in the water. Since the contractions were now extremely intense but I wasn't progressing and baby wasn't turning, she suggested the epidural. I was determined I didn't want intervention and asked for another hour to try. I did everything my body could manage - all fours, squatting, rocking and rolling my body, talking to the baby, etc. At one point I started to get the urge to push and told the midwife. She tried to look while I was still labouring and told me to trust my body. I started to go with the pushes and she did an official check only to see he wasn't moved an inch and I was still only 7-8. At that point I couldn't control the urge to push and we all agreed the epidural was the only way. The contractions then were completely overwhelming and I had no control over the pushing, which was terrifying. It was like this for the hour I waited for the epidural...
Finally got the epidural at 4:30 and it was truly magical as everyone says. I could feel everything - wiggle my toes, shift my body, move my legs, feel contractions - but they only felt like mild contractions. They also had syntocinon slowly going. We all got some sleep and I progressed to 10 cm by 10:30 and another check showed more meconium and he was still LOA - stuck under my pelvic bone. His heart had some decels with contractions but nothing they were too concerned about. With this combination and the fact I had some urges to push (not intense) they decided I should start pushing. I pushed for 4ish contractions and he WOULD NOT BUDGE! His heart started being very low with each push so more Drs came in and checked and let me push a bit more. At this point I just wanted to know baby was ok as there were so many people but no one seemed too concerned! They explained if there was a concern he would've been out already and to just keep going. When he refused to turn, they decided forceps would be best and explained to me the process very well and calmly. They got the forceps in and turned his head as we waited for a contraction - and of course now it took 8 minutes to get another contraction after all these hours of 1-2 minutes apart. He REALLY didn't want to come out. His head was out after one contraction and I pushed a few more pushes for the rest of his body. He wasn't breathing so they calmly explained they would suction him and put him on my chest. Within a second or two he cried out and holy everything that was the best sound I'd ever heard!!! From then on he was totally relaxed! I haven't asked for details, but from what I understand I had one second degree tear and one more that I'm not sure of the degree. Couldn't feel the tears besides a stinging paper cut feeling and didn't feel stitching.
Physical recovery is going really well it seems but certainly not easy, and although breastfeeding was tough to get the hang of, it seems like we've found somewhat of a groove.
b Royalty Aset Christian was born 1/16/16 @745am. She came within 2hrs of getting to the hospital. She was so ready to meet us that she came out with her bag of water still intact. I did it all natural and i am very happy to have the new addition to the family
Allyson Elizabeth born January 12, at 6:42 am and 7 lbs 8 oz and 19.75 inches long. Started having contractions early in the morning Monday and went into L&D that morning after the contractions were becoming overwhelming painful in back and pelvis. Was sent home after a few hours because they were not getting closer together. Returned a few hours later Monday afternoon when they became excruciating and worse. Got an epidural at 6 pm and my water broke after they began pitocin at 8 pm. Baby girl was not liking the increases in pitocin and I was only dilating very slowly without. They warned me I might need a C section if things stayed the same. Luckily, the OB and nurses let me have some time and shifted positions often and things got moving. Fully dilated by 6 am on Tuesday and she was born at 6:42 am. The back labor before epidural was awful but she was worth every minute. We are so in love with this tiny little girl!
Laurel Rosina was born yesterday, 1/16/16, only 4 days early. She weighed in at 7lbs 2 oz and 19 inches long. Definitely a quick labor, at the hospital for less than 9 hours before she came barreling out. Included back labor because of sunny side up, epidural, lost heart beat while on the fetal monitor in her scalp, quick baby rotation and 45 minutes of pushing. She popped out with a perfectly shaped head! My husband said they literally had to catch her because once her head was out the rest of her followed within a second and surprised the doc. Not the easiest delivery but definitely not the worst. The best moment was when my husband got to say it's a girl after being team green. We are totally smitten. Her and my husband were just enjoying our first sighting of snow.
Jacob Blaine was born at 9:22 am 1/11/16 (DD 1/21/16)
I woke up at 4:15 and thought my water broke. I have quick labors so we didn't want to wait and decided we'd better go in to get it checked. While we were waiting for my mom to come over and take care of my other 3 kids I realized that I was having painful contractions every 3 minutes. Got to the hospital around 5:15 am and was dilated to 3cm. After being monitored and walking for an hour I was at a 5 and was just waiting on the Doctor to give the okay to admit. Luckily my nurses were all over it and the anesthesiologist was waiting for me when I got to my room. Got my epidural at 7:45 and when the doctor came to break my water at 8:15 I was still a "loose 5." I told him I'd see him in an hour. At 9:00 I called the nurse in because Inwas very wet. By the time she cleaned me up I told her she'd better get the doctor quickly. I was at a 10, but he was still really high (-3 station). Doctor got there and he was born in 1 contraction at 9:22. They were all surprised that he came so quickly since he was sitting so high. The doctor joked that he was glad he didn't try to see one more patient before coming up.
With a 5 hour labor from start to finish and It was a bit of a whirlwind and took a bit to sink in that it was real. We are happy to be home and everyone is loving this little guy
Went in for an induction early Monday morning and after almost 3 long days, Wednesday at 10:11p, our Emmie made her debut. Not the birth plan I expected, but happy I was still able to give birth vaginally. So in love and so happy she's finally here!
Went in for an induction last night at 7:30 pm. The midwives were so great about doing a gentle induction so I could keep as close to my birth plan as possible. Two rounds of cytotec gave me some contractions but very little cervical change, after breakfast I got the foley bulb which got my up to 5 cm from 3 cm in 4 hours. Then I had lunch and labored a while and they broke my water around 2 pm- I was at a 6. Things really picked up speed about an hour later and got really intense. Pushing was much harder than my other babies but amazingly I didn't tear and it was only 4 contractions of pushing, even though it felt like an eternity. I'm so grateful for how wonderful everyone was about taking care of all my needs and being amazing support. Welcome to the world Henry Lawrence! We love you so much. 6 lbs 9 oz.
Elijah Gabriel was born at 9:52am 1/16/16. His EDD was 1/9/16. 7lbs 1oz I went to my OB appt for a BPP and they told me to go straight to the hospital because his fluid levels were too low. I got induced by noon on the 15th and after three rounds of cytotec my water broke on its own and I had my show. About 30 minutes after that the contractions were right on top of each other with no breaks in between. I barely dilated but the pain was so bad I broke down and got the epidural. LO's heart rate kept plummeting and the third time it happened they rushed me to the OR. The epidural didn't numb both sides of my body, so they put me to sleep. My partner wasnt allowed in the room and I was unconscious so both of us missed the birth of our child but our child is safe and healthy because of what they did so I can't feel bad about that. The cord was wrapped around his head and his initial Apgar score was a 1. He really could have died during that and I'm so glad I was able to throw my birth plans out the window. I'm recovering from the c section as are many other women on this board and it's not an easy process. We are so happy to have him here!
The night after my 41 week appointment on 1/11 in which we scheduled and talked about induction for 1/13, labor came on fast and furious! Only 6 hours of labor and 6 contractions worth of pushing later, and my son Henry Jon was born at 8 lbs, 13 oz and 22 inches long! We are so in love!
Leah Catherine Born 1/16/16 at 7:24 p.m. at 39w6d 8lbs 3oz and 21 inches long
Water broke at 3:30 a.m. 4 hours after my husband and I tried "something" to induce. We finished packing our bag, husband threw our sheets in the wash (thankfully the shower liner trick worked for the mattress!), and got to the hospital around 4:30 am.
I didn't start contracations on my own, so they fed me breakfast and started me on pitocin around 9am. Got an epidural at 4cm and it worked well until 9cm. Unfortunately at that point, it was too late to give anything more. I started pushing a little before 4:30 and pushed for 3 hours. It was painful and I'm in a lot of pain now with a 2nd degree tear, but so so worth it!
Amelia Margaret was born at 40w5d on January 13th! 8lb 4oz 20 inches
I went for a NST at last Monday at 40w3d and while checking the amniotic fluid levels we discovered that she was breech. We scheduled a c-section for last Thursday, 1/14, but baby girl had a plan of her own! I woke up the day before my scheduled c-section with some symptoms of labor. My doctor had me come in and I was dilated 3cm so he sent me to the hospital right then. At 12:54 that afternoon Amelia was born via c/s. It was love at first sight!
Yay! Cassius Jules is here! Born at 11:55 pm on his actual due date of 1/15! Went in at 3 am on 1/15 with contractions at 5 minutes apart. Opted to stay and walk around vs. going home to dilate further (glad I did). Got to 4 cm when I requested an epidural, contractions were every 3 minutes at that point and fierce! Doctor added a small amount of pitocin to my drip to ensure dilation would be speedy and though it was a 21 hour "labor" from start to finish, I went from 5 cm to baby's head right there within 3 hours and pushed for 30 minutes. I was determined for Cassius to be born on his due date!
Ava Elizabeth was born January 10th, 2016 at 12:35pm. 7 pounds and 19 1/2 inches. So much in love. Never has my heart been so full! Wishing everyone happy and healthy deliveries!!! Becoming a mom has been the most wonderful experience in my life!
I am WAY behind on posting a birth announcement, but....
Caleb Matthew was born by c-section for breech presentation at 34 weeks 5 days on December 18th, 2015 at 5:48 AM after my water broke following a 3 month bed rest for a short cervix, preterm labor and gestational hypertension. He was born pink and screaming, breathing on his own, with a fuzzy little head of hair. He was a whopping 6 lbs 7 oz and 19" long. He spent 6 days in NICU with minimal issues and came home on Christmas eve. He is now a month old and doing fantastic!
Re: J16 Birth Announcements
I was having a slow leak since 1 am on Friday. I didn't get worried because I already had a false alarm with 2 gushes I thought were my water on Dec 23rd. Went to work but kept leaking. I called my doctor and she assumed it may not be anything but to go to the hospital for some peace of mind. We got to the hospital at 8:30 p on Friday.
Edited: because it posted only pictures...

1/14/16 on her daddy's birthday!!!

Not the birth I'd dreamed of. Full of interventions and complications for mama and baby but we're both on the mend now and I'd do it all again for her. We're so in love. Now if we could just get out of this damn hospital!!

EDD: 1/14
Born: 1/16
He has the most beautiful hair!
Wilder Lee, born 1/13/16 at 3:47 am. 8 lbs 15 oz and 21 inches long. My rainbow baby.
Congrats to everyone who's already posted here, best wishes to everyone who's still waiting, and thanks especially to the PGAL community on this board.
Emerson Reed (Emmie)
EDD 1.4.16
Born 1.13.16
Went in for an induction early Monday morning and after almost 3 long days, Wednesday at 10:11p, our Emmie made her debut. Not the birth plan I expected, but happy I was still able to give birth vaginally. So in love and so happy she's finally here!
His EDD was 1/9/16.
7lbs 1oz
I went to my OB appt for a BPP and they told me to go straight to the hospital because his fluid levels were too low.
