Oh I totally shovel snow. It's cardio! If the pile is actually too heavy to lift I'll ask H for help but dude, my driveway needs to be shoveled. If h is working - I'm gonna do it.
I agree with you, it is probably great cardio. I'll stick to spin class though because I fall all the time without dealing with ice/snow....hell I hold on to the handlebars of the treadmill (and did so when not pregnant) when I climb/speed walk on the treadmill just like the old lady that I am. Pregnancy has made my balance issues even worse.
My ass still whimpers in pain when I think of the last spin class I did. I need a bigger seat! Lol.
Let's see here. I eat soft cheeses. I eat salami. I have had a little wine (though not nearly enough in my opinion) I'm still running. a lot. signed up for a half marathon at 24 weeks. I'm still biking (at 19 weeks). My boss just told me "you are going to kill your baby." Gee. Thanks for that. I climb up on stools in the kitchen, much to my husbands dismay. I am sleeping on my back despite trying to fall asleep on my side. I clean the cat litter box (hubby says he will, but just doesn't.. poor kitty) I still drink diet coke. though have cut back some. I ate raw cookie dough. it tasted good.

I forgot about the litterbox! I took it over again after my husband's failure to clean it has resulted in my male going on the floor. Thanks hubby, now you can shampoo the carpet. He throws a fit every time he sees me clean it but I'm not having our carpet destroyed.

This made me laugh out loud. My ass is huge with lots of cushion and it still hurt like no one's business the first few weeks I took spin.
Also, my husband is the extreme "you can't do that" as in...he won't even let me carry grocery bags. Or bags in general. I think he does it partly to be funny but seriously, I don't need to look like the lazy, demanding wife who is making her husband carry everything for her for no reason!
Coffee on the daily, cold sandwiches almost weekly (jersey mikes), I'm still ice skating about 3 hours a week (down from 12 a week lol), diet sodas, tons of chips because yes. I'll have a sip of wine if I'm cooking with it or a taste of DH's beer every now and then. We split a mini bottle of champagne last week and made mimosas when we had breakfast for dinner. I refuse to eat a steak cooked higher than medium rare, and we have bacon every morning as part of our breakfast(something about the smoking process and the sodium content?) Also, I work with small kids teaching them to ice skate. If the tiny ones fall and I think they're light enough, I'll help pick them up. The chubby fat ones are on their own, and all my parents know I'm not supposed to pick them up. My cat sleeps on my belly if I happen to fall asleep on my back (very rare). I also use Tylenol when I need it because if I'm uncomfortable, I'm a bitch. Lol.

I want to hear how your half marathon goes! I probably need some encouragement to keep running while pregnant :P
Also, re: Diet Coke...my first pregnancy they gave me a gazillion government-issued pamphlets on pregnancy health (midwife didn't bother giving me all that stuff this time) and the sample meal plan had Diet Coke all over it, haha. I was a strict paleo eater at the time and I was like "wtf is this!!" Now I'm much more lax and have had a fair amount of Diet Coke myself this pregnancy.

@CourtJack He needed help with the couch! out the door. down the stairs. so that was acceptable because he needed help... the grocery bags he could handle on his own.
For reals, no shame: 1. Deli Turkey - had a turkey sandwich today. 2. Wine - I've had about a total of a half glass a week since 17 weeks (I'm 20 now). I read lots of European studies about it to make myself feel better. 3. Falling- I've fallen hard three times. 4. Running - still trail running, and still running half marathons 5. Cheese- I eat whatever cheese I want, damnit.
@26pointrunningfor2 I like that there is someone else still trail running here! (and i love your name) The only change i have made is that my typical 6am 8 mile trail loop is now starting at the BOTTOM of the hill rather than the top so I don't start it with a pitch black run down a steep rutted hill. I'd fallen hard on that not pregnant one too many times and it made me nervous. now i start at the bottom and end with that part... when it's light.
@mmmmkay Yes! I've been trying to be super careful, but I live in AZ and all of our trails are pretty rocky. I also LOVE running fast downhill, so I've had to make myself slow down. Luckily the uphills... well... I've been hiking a lot of uphills
@mmmmkay it's probably OK to have kitty on the belly, but my cat is FAT!! Lol. He's a bit more than tubby
@Emztron500 lol yeah.... I tend to be brutally honest. But when your kid is 5 years old and weighs more than my 11 year old cousin, you got issues. Haha
@mmmmkay@26pointrunningfor2 you guys reminded me, I did part of a trail ultra (relay with my sisters) when I was 20-some weeks with my first, and it was the most insanely hilly, narrow little track with a gazillion tree branches. Fell HARD 3 times because I am a maniac on downhills, haha. Everything was fine except for skinned bruised up knees, but I took it easy after that one
I read through all of these while taking a deliciously warm bath and I followed said bath with an excessive amounts of cheerios. Not that cheerios are bad for you...I probably just didn't need two heaping bowl fulls at midnight.

It's all about moderation.
Love the Europeans. And DH is European, so this baby must have a tolerance, right??? Definitely some 1/2 glasses when I hit the third tri. My brother got married in Napa Valley when I was 7 months pregnant, for crying out loud. I had to taste:)
-drank DH beer when he bought regular instead of non-alcoholic from my craving grocery list. Why would I crave for you to have a beer, dear?? He said three sips, I counter negotiated with the whole neck worth and gave him a death stare.
-hot showers and heating pads save my life
-not exercising. Not even a little.
-sugar. All the sugar, all the time, every day. Gimme. (2 sugars in my tea followed by a giant bowl of lucky charms, followed by rice Krispy treat with lunch, ice cream Sunday for dessert. I never even liked ice cream before being pregnant!) I'm going to have to detox before my glucose test...
-root beer. I went months without soda for IVF Bc of my pcos and have backslid soooo much Bc ROOT BEER!
I've been contemplating dying my hair...i need it baaad! But I've heard both sides..bad not bad?
I'm getting my hair done (highlights) next weekend. When I booked my appt I just double checked that it was okay & was told there's no concern. I really don't think I could make it until the end of June without getting my hair done, lol.
The night before I found out I was pregnant, I got semi drunk at an office party (all you could drink wine, beer, and mix drinks...who could resist) The next day, I felt completely nauseous (not the hung over kind) and knew right there I was pregnant before even taking the positive test.
Since knowing I was pregnant...the worst I have done is craving the hell out of coke and drink it often, and I ate hotdogs almost everyday through my first trimester because I craved them so bad....

what you did before you got pregnant doesn't count! drink till it's pink, right?

I was tipsy when I took my pregnancy test. Had some wine, randomly thought "man, it's been a while since I had my period!" and peed on a stick. Came out of the bathroom all "oooooh shit! honey, uh..."
Ha, I didn't realize the first stick I peed on was an expired test (by almost a year). I proceed to get rip-roaring drunk all weekend because I was super upset about not being pregnant. Flash forward to 4 days later when my period still hadn't shown up and I checked the date on the test box - DH was pretty upset with me and thought we were going to have a little drunk baby.
Reading this thread has taken me up to lunch, yay!
I have: - Eaten all the cheese (but always check to make sure it's pasteurized) - Ate hot dogs (grilled hot) - Eaten gallons of ice cream (we aren't supposed to?) - Drank a can of diet soda (sometimes caffeinated, sometimes not) basically every day after talking to my OB - Stopped exercising b/c I didn't want to push it (yea...that's my excuse) - Had a medium burger (from a reputable place) - Cooked with wine - Probably lifted things over 20 lbs - Ate deli meat (but heated up) - Gotten away with eating so much junk food (it's what the baby wants!) - Stopped changing the litter box or cleaning up the cat's pee (pregnancy has been the best excuse for this) - Getting sushi on Monday, but probably only cooked stuff

Fetal Alcohol Syndrom is not something to fuck around with. I guarantee many of your friends who state they drank often and their "kid is fine," have children with attention, behavior, or learning difficulties. These struggles can be very subtle, or they can directly affect the child's ability to function in a classroom with their peers. Why in the world would any of you take this chance?

A sip of wine here and there is not going to cause FAS. Because, science...

@sdlindenberg what. you aren't supposed to let your cat sleep on your belly?

JFC; it's 40 weeks, not a lifetime. I can't believe the amount of you who are drinking alcohol. That's incredibly irresponsible and selfish. In case you missed the most recent news alert: https://www.cnn.com/2015/10/21/health/aap-no-alcohol-during-pregnancy/
Alcohol is toxic to your helpless baby. Take a read: https://www.nofas.org/light-drinking/
