Hi everyone! Just had my first beta today - 14dpiui - at 239. Forgot to ask about progesterone, but I've been on prometrium supps since the IUI, and they want me to continue for awhile. I go back in on Wednesday and Friday to check how the numbers are - hopefully - progressing.
@JennM205I do have a different dr this time around, and a new office. The office I was in with DD was a learning office and mostly GPs, my dr was a 1st year resident when I was pregnant with her. I loved him, but he finished his residency and went to the Cleveland clinic, I cried when he left! I hadn't met the new dr yet, so when I found out I was pregnant again, I decided to go to a midwife this time. She was worried because of my U/S results, eventhough I was too early to see anything, she wanted to make sure everything was ok. So far I love the new office! They use an app for your chart and I get my results the next day, instead of waiting until I see my dr to find out!

I just had blood work again yesterday because I was just nervous and my first appt isn't until Monday. Anyway, they just called me back and Hcg was 28,630 at 6 weeks, 4 days. I feel good about this. Hopefully we are on the right track this time...

@mevans25 numbers vary so much from person to person. But to me, that sounds like a great number for 4w1d! The doubling is what is important. It should double within 48-72 hours for the first week or two.

@mevans25 My number was only 95 at 4w1d and it was 759 at 5w1d. The doctor assured me that those numbers were good because they were doubling appropriately. They should double every 48-72 hours. Its hard not to worry when you see everyone else with such high numbers! Do you have another blood draw scheduled?

Needing t&p.... Went to clinic today for cramping and light spotting. According to my ovulation day I should be 6 wks today. Ultrasound showed empty uterus, and Beta is 652. I go back in 2 days (1/14) for another draw. But overall things are not looking too great. I'm a wreak.
I just had my first beta yesterday at 5 weeks even so roughly 21 dpo (thought I wasn't charting) and it was 2200 which is great but my progesterone is 11.9. they just asked me To come back in a week. After reading through this post, a week seems like a long time. Plus is there anyone else this low and not being supplemented?

@crispy11 A week does seem like a long time... When my progesterone was 14ish, my OB had me retest in two days. It dropped to 11ish and I was immediately put on supps. Not sure if that's a typical turnaround (I didn't have low progesterone with DD.) Maybe call and ask for a redraw sooner. It can't hurt, right?
I got he results from my second beta on Monday but forgot to post. It's been a busy week so far! At 19 DPO I was at 3476 and the doc seems pleased. Now onto the first u/s next week!
@crispy11 I would ask for a sooner draw for peace of mind esp since you had a loss. Im sure you are fine bc the HCG number looks awesome! And they will probably say the same but I wouldn't happy waiting a week either, you could be on supps that whole time.
@crispy11 I would call and ask them to call you in some progesterone supps. It can't hurt anything to take them and they will give you peace of mind.

Thanks for the support guys. I called and asked to have my blood work drawn again today. I'm waiting to hear for a call back. I also wonder if breastfeeding affect my body's ability to make progesterone. I know women can breastfeed while pregnant safely but maybe I need some help. We'll see!

2nd Beta at 6w6d was 78000. That is an increase of around 10,000 from two days ago. Doubling time is around 270 hours. I am unsure what to make of it completely but according to betabase this is within normal for this high of number. What do you ladies think? Will be calling OB in the morning.
Omg I know this going to sound crazy . But what the heck is Beta ? I never heard of this with my first or maybe I did . I don't know. How I do request this ? Should I just go to the hospital I'm 5 weeks. I haven't picked a OB yet. Should I pick a OB first?
Beta is actually a very expensive test and is done if ur considered high risk or have multiple miscarriages in the past. It will test ur hcg level in ur blood. Most doctors won't do it to a non high risk mommy so that's probably why you never heard of it !

I'm not high risk and have had no previous complications (thankfully). But both this pregnancy and my last, my OB requested a blood draw shortly after I got my BFP to test HCG and progesterone. With DD, I just had the one test with ideal results (which, looking back is strange considering it's not the number but the rate of increase that truly matters but, nonetheless, everything turned out just fine). This time, I had low progesterone at my first draw so went for a second at the doctor's request. PPs - has anyone else had blood drawn and tested simply as part of your OB's regular "routine" or am I the only one?

Betas are commonplace among women who do fertility treatments. It's not always routine to have betas done with your OB because a lot of time women don't have their first appointment with the OB until 7-8 weeks and you can just have an ultrasound done at that point. But practices vary with every doctor. It seems (based on this board) that a lot of women who are not high-risk and did not do fertility treatments also had betas drawn. Most OBs will use bloodwork as a way to confirm your pregnancy. And assuming you have health insurance I've never known it to be an expensive test. I've never paid a dime out of pocket for it.

@JennM205 it is the standard procedure for my OB, too - they like to measure your levels and see if you're progressing well so they'll send you for two draws and assess from there.
I use Provera and Clomid to conceive and haven't been called in for blood tests for this pregnancy or for my Dec14 baby. I just go in for the typical first appointment for them, which is 8-10 weeks and get a dating ultrasound somewhere around that time.
@AnnaS930 was the provera and Clomid prescribed by your OB? I guess I should have been more clear in that it's commonplace among women who do fertility treatments with a RE.
ETA: And I hope that didn't sound b*tchy lol. I assumed it was your OB because if my RE just waited to see me until 8-10 weeks it would be kind of pointless because he usually releases me to my OB/MFM at 8-9 weeks.

no problem @Sarafussjust adding my own experience to get a full mixed bag in here. It's from my straight-up OB/GYN... but I'm not high risk, just have trouble ovulating then I'm super normal after that!
I'm sorry as I may sound ignorant but should I be worried that I have no idea what my beta results are? I'm at 6w and a few days. I didn't get any blood test yet. My Obgyn won't see me until week 8 to be able to do a u/s. So the only thing I have to hold on to are my 3 BFP tests results...I find the wait horrible...
I echo the previous ladies who said it's common to not have any betas drawn. With my first, I peed on one stick, went to the OB at 9 weeks and was lucky to have a healthy baby girl. My second pregnancy was a loss at 6 weeks and I switched OBs to one who is more vbac friendly. I'm honestly not sure now if I get betas now because he does them for everyone or if it's because of the 6 week loss.

Oddly enough my ob wants to check both again next week. I don't feel like I need it but whatever, they can have my blood. Hopefully the numbers keep going up!!
