Just got some bad news about our older doggie...we got him into his cardiology vet today (he has multiple issues and is on a cocktail of medicines, but just recently has basically stopped eating and wanting to take his meds, and has lost quite a bit of weight). He has really bad arrythmia and there's basically nothing we can do. We could try adding in one or two meds, but they might not do anything, or they might extend his life by a few weeks at most. So we'll probably take him home for the weekend and then euthanize him on Monday so that he won't be in more pain. We've known this was coming for a while, but I'm still heartbroken - he's my baby

I'm so sorry!!!! I cannot imagine the pain. I have 4 pets, my beagle is old too (10) and the other day when I was cuddling with him I felt his heart and it was irregular also (not fast though). He seems to be feeling ok though but based on your description of your doggie I may get my beagle checked. He has regular vet appointments and nothing was ever picked up though...
My thoughts are with you. I am sorry you are going through this.
@AEG84 That's awful news. I'm so sorry. To have to deal with that heartbreak while pregnant must be terrible. My 10 year old is my angel and I am hoping for 6-8 more years with her, I just can't imagine life without ANY of them. It's just a loss I can't even wrap my brain around. Much less in such a fragile emotional state.
@thaisac1, if your regular vet hasn't referred you, it's probably not a big deal. We didn't catch anything until relatively late - he started coughing but it was during winter last year and we just assumed it was the dry air/allergies for a while. By the time we actually saw a cardiologist for him, the heart enlargement was pretty severe, so we've just been managing that and related symptoms, along with high blood pressure.
@Missingchampagne, I really had hoped he'd make it to 15-16. He's a cattle dog mix, which tend to live longer, but whatever he's mixed with is much larger than just a cattle dog.
@AEG84 I'm so sorry, that is so sad to hear. Pets are such a lovely part of a family and it's so sad that we outlive them. Give him lots of cuddles from all of us this weekend
@AEG84 I am so sorry to hear about your fur baby. I am sending lots of prayers and hugs your way. Nothing anyone says can help with how was your heart feels when you get that kind of news. Pets are such a huge part of our lives. Thinking of you and your family.
@AEG84 - All the hugs for you. I'm so so sorry for your loss. Glad you get the chance to spend the weekend saying goodbye, but I wish you didn't have to
How many of you are in the same boat as I am about disbelief in your clothing size versus how big you think you are? I bought some clothes yesterday and I don't understand how I look like a bloated hippopotamus but I'm in a size that just doesn't seem to make sense.

I think some stores size maternity way off to try to make us feel better. I'm typically a 2/4 pant (at Target) and my XS/0 maternity jeans (also from Target) still literally fall off me. How is it that there's no way I could button 0s in regular clothes, but 30 feet away in maternity they fall off of me? Fail.

Leggings. All of the leggings.
I'm not even talking about maternity clothes. I've been shopping in the Juniors/women's department trying to find shirts that compliment the bump and would work post-pregnancy with breastfeeding.
I actually hate buying maternity clothes. They only look good for a short period of time and then you never wear them again unless you save them and are magically the same size for your next pregnancy.
I can't do leggings. I just can't do it. To me, they're not pants. Plus, I can't wear them at work, so I keep passing them by at the store.
Can anyone briefly explain how you use cloth diapers? I am just so confused and it sounds like a crazy pain. Like do you have a garbage can in the room you change the diaper in to collect the diapers, then you first take a poopy diaper to the bathroom and flush the poop and bring it back and put it in the can, and then you use a wipe to clean the baby, so you must have another garbage to put wipes in too? Isn't it a pain going back and forth to the bathroom and having all these separate receptacles for each thing? Is there an easier way?
@RoseShadow873 four babies in cloth, and I don't find it to be that different from disposables. Wherever I change the baby (and I didn't have a change table/station until my last baby), I remove the diaper, wipe the baby, and set it aside until the new diaper is on. Poppy diapers get a quick swish (sometimes- poop from an exclusively breastfed baby is water soluble, so only if it's an exceptionally large poop, or the baby has started solids), and I kept the diaper pail in the bathroom, so there wasn't an extra trip. Cloth wipes mean you toss them in with the diapers, but disposable wipes work better, so I throw those in the bathroom trash.
@fbanke42 I've been an XS in junior's sizes for over a decade. I hate shopping in general. And now, if someone wants to tell my bloated yet somehow still not big enough for maternity clothes but too big for regular clothes self that leggings aren't pants...the only other optios are naked or sweats. And I'm not the weird one for suggesting nudity because other than leggings, the only time I'm comfortable is when I'm naked.

Thank you for the answer. So wet poop can mostly be just washed? By swished do you mean in the sink? Do you need to use cloth diaper liners?
@RoseShadow873 Yes, I mostly just wash the poop, at least until baby is consuming anything other than breastmilk. Formula poops are much more solid and need to be dumped in the toilet,as do poops after solids are introduced. I swish in the toilet, or one time on vacation I washed my flat diapers in the hotel bathtub at night. I've never used liners, but have considered it after starting solids. I'm seriously considering a diaper sprayer this time around, though.
@AEG84 they become family for sure and it sucks so so bad when bad news comes or they finally pass away. We had a beagle growing up and she was so sweet
@RoseShadow873 I'm a FTM but I'm so excited about my cloth diaper stash so far! Pinterest and YouTube have thousands of resources to make it seem easy, and walk you through every single step. (I love me some awesome tutorials)

That sounds good. I'm so glad we have the internet for this stuff. I'm getting excited about it too. Yeah it seems crazy there are so many kinds! And they seem pricey. I'm probably going to buy some used ones!

Same here! FTM and am planning to use cloth and cloth wipes at home (might just use disposable wipes out, still on fence.) Its seriously a little addicting to eye all the cute cloth diapers and I'm constantly looking at sales online.
I agree, I'd be lost without YouTube. My favorite cloth channel is ObbsandLala.
So ladies, just thought I'd share with you what my epic appetite is making me do. I slept next to DH while he was watching a movie in bed last night. I woke up an hour later drunk in sleep, saw that he was eating cheese puffs, asked him to feed me some and went back to sleep. He was gonna die from laughter. And now I'm really hungry.
Our entire group of friends got together for a dinner party last night....except us because no one contacted us. I'm not going to lie, but finding out on Facebook stung a little. It looked like there weren't any kids there, so I'm hoping it was just a matter of us not having night time child care options than no one wanting us around
For those of you who know the structure of the pelvis, I learned something interesting; the cartilage at the pubic symphysis stretches in some women, making the area extremely tender and making activity difficult. And there's nothing that can be done about it.
@AmadorRose SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction) is a grade-A bitch. I had it in third tri of my first pregnancy and got to the point where simply rolling over in bed brought me to tears. It's started earlier this time around, I feel like somebody straight kneed me in the vagina right now, especially when I'm up and moving. I was trying to "shake out" the kinks in my body the other day and DH was like "is that your swagger walk?" So I decided to give him a detailed account of the glamor that is pregnancy pain. He remembers how it was with Eli, just didn't know it could start this early. It shut him up.. for about 5 minutes. Turd.
@cmjenkies one of my sisters told me ALL about it yesterday, including that it starts earlier with each pregnancy. And from what she described, it's not going to be a great ride. I keep telling myself, "anything for a healthy baby."

I loooove cheese puffs!!!!
Now I'm gonna take off my pregnant Internet friend hat, and put on my doctor's hat: be sure to take it easy on the fatty foods. With your gallstone issue, they will make things worse for you as ingestion of fat stimulates the gallbladder to make and secrete more bile, and you don't want your gallbladder contracting and doing extra work right now!
Ok, doctor's hat off, pregnant Internet friend hat back on.
Does anyone else have to deal with allergies while pregnant? What did your doctor recommend taking? I finally couldn't handle it anymore so I caved and bought the Benadryl that was on my approved meds list.
I've been trying to barter with my belly button to keep it from becoming an outie. It's gotten to a scary level of shallow that I'm not comfortable with.
@Bubbles3592 Horribly allergic to, well, basically the WORLD and it's gotten so much worse with pregnancy. I've been taking Allegra as needed, coupled with a humidifier, switching to unscented everything, an elevated head at night, and all kinds of other random tricks.

I'm sorry. Hopefully there's a reasonable explanation behind it.
